10.1.2.2 Patchset?

Does anyone know why you need to change the ports before applying the 10.1.2.2 patch set? I applied it to 10.1.2.0.2 release and I can't get the EM App Server control to web site to work and I'm wondering if I can reapply the patch without changing the ports.

Hi,
It is still recommended to move to 10.1.2.2 + Discoverer cumulative patch III per MetaLink Note 237607.1 ALERT: Required and Recommended Patch Levels For All Discoverer Versions
This patch contains all the EBS 11i FND/SSO code necessary for integration. There is one specific bug on certain platforms using EBS 11i 'SECURE' Mode with 11i (does not affect 12) that Oracle Support/Development will work with you if you encounter it. They stated that it will likely be in the next Discoverer cumulative patch and that EBS development will update the note you mentioned to state the certifications.
It sounds like there might have been some crossed communication in your case. Hope that helps you out.
Regards,
Steve.

Can anyone help me figure out why the domU is just hanging/blocked?It's not hanging (blocked just means it doesn't need the CPU) -- it's just switched into a graphic mode that the console view can't display. You can either VNC into the guest, or change the kernel boot parameters by removing rhgb quiet and replacing them with console=xvc0 -- this should allow you to see the full boot process and answer the first-boot interview questions without using VNC.
You can get the VNC details by running: virsh dumpxml <domain ID> and you can get the domain ID from the xm list output.

    Yes!
the problem is that .NET is availabe only on WinX Platforms.

  • Eroracle patchset( 9.2.0.6.0) to Oracle (9.2.0.1.0)  on Windows Xp (32 bit)

    Hi All,
I am trying to apply oracle patchset( 9.2.0.6.0) to Oracle (9.2.0.1.0) on Windows Xp (32 bit) system. While trying to apply this patch I got a message to shutdown OS services like RPC (Remote Procedure Call), COM3+ System Event which should not happen ideally. As per my experience we can not close down the RPC service, Since this is a critical system service. Have any faced similar problem in the past? If yes, then please let me know.
    Thank You.

    Hi,
There are two concerns about your upgrade.
Direct upgrade to 11.2.0 is not support from version 9.2.0.6, at least you should be on version 9.2.0.8.
11.2.0.3 is not supported on solris8, at least you should be on OS version - Solaris 10.

  • Ideas for a new kernel patchset

    Hi,
I'm not much satisfied with the kernel patchsets currently available for Arch, so I'm planning a new patchset (well... it was ready when it was 2.6.20.7 based, but now I'm making a new 2.6.21 based one).
These would be the planned patches:
genpatches ( http://dev.gentoo.org/~dsd/genpatches/ ) [not all when they were for 2.6.20... we'll see for 2.6.21]
    AppArmor ( www.novell.com/linux/security/apparmor/ )
PaX ( http://grsecurity.net/ ) [not the whole grsecurity patchset]
cfs-scheduler ( http://people.redhat.com/mingo/cfs-scheduler/ ) [a new scheduler from Ingo Molnar... better than the -ck one? Probably yes.]
    Suspend 2 ( http://www.suspend2.net/ )
    SKAS ( http://www.user-mode-linux.org/~blaisorblade/ )
    Squashfs ( http://squashfs.sourceforge.net/ )
    Unionfs ( http://www.am-utils.org/project-unionfs.html )
    Reiser4 ( http://www.namesys.com/ )
    ACPI DSDT ( http://gaugusch.at/kernel.shtml )
There are some small fixes (genpatches), some "hardening" patches (AppArmor, PaX, SKAS), a new scheduler (cfs-scheduler), improved filesystems support (Squashfs, Unionsfs, Reiser4) and the usual useful things (Suspend 2, ACPI DSDT).
Do you have any other idea? Let me know.

Suspend2 seems like a kernel-space only approach. Splashy is an user-space only approach. So no controversial userspace<->kernelspace interfaces using Suspend2 and Splashy (I think... tell me if I'm wrong).
    splashy is totally userspace.
suspend2 has an option to support userspace progress interfaces, such as userui, fbsplash and others. but the logic and function of suspend2 does not depend on this, it's entirely in the kernel.
fbsplash is userspace* and can give progress and everything from userspace, however it cannot set the terminal backgrounds unless it is patched -- none of the userspace splash tools set the background.
regardless, before you get carried away, you might want to work out why you're making this patchset. and for each patch, why are you including it, do people really need these, or are you just beefing it up to try and make one size fit all? This doesn't always work as well as you'd think, and makes testing damn near impossible.
Work these things out, or you'll probably end up like the other long gone patchsets, nitro, dark, emission, love, ragnarok, klight, light, kamikaze, no, kot, morph, rad, skunk, cko or hammer. And there's more...

  • Error while applying patchset 11.1.0.7 to 11.1.0.6

Hi, I am a new DBA and would appreciate any help on this.
I am in the process of upgrading my database from 10.2.0.4 to 11.1.0.7. I installed 11.1.0.6 and was applying the 11.1.0.7 patch. I installed the 11g patchset successfully and was working on 'Upgrading Oracle Database 11g Release 11.1.0.6 to Oracle Database 11g Release 11.1.0.7' - Section 9.2 of the readme of the 11.1.0.7 patchset. After starting the dbua and selecting the 11g home that needed to be upgraded, the dbua gave the error -
The upgrade Assistant failed in bringing up the database proddb1. Oracle Home /opt/oracle/product/11.1.0/dev obtained from file /etc/oratab was used to connect to the database. Either the database is not running from Oracle Home /opt/oracle/product/11.1.0/dev or the pfile /oravol00/oracle/product/11.1.0/dev/dbs/init.ora used is incorrect. Correct the error and run the Upgrade Assistant again.
Here are some more details about my system - I have a 10g dev instance and a 10g production instance also running on the same box. The 11g instance location is /oravol00/opt/oracle/product/11.1.0/dev and has a soft link to /opt/oracle/product/11.1.0/dev.
I read another thread on the OTN where another person had the same problem and was asked to start the database in the upgrade mode from sqlplus and then try the dbua again. I tried that - started the databse in startup upgrade mode and it gave me this error -
    SQL> startup upgrade;

Can someone please give me some clue on what I did wrong here and how to correct it? Any help is appreciated.

I checked my alert log and see errors from the day I installed the 11g instance. When DBUA said the installation is complete, I thought everything went fine. But now I see alert log had errors since then. I created the database on March 12th and tried to install the 11.1.0.7 patch on March 14th by around 3pm. Here is more clarification on the upgrade. I am trying to upgrade my dev environment. I plan to upgrade using export/import. For this I created the 11g instance and am applying the 11.1.07 patch. Next, I need to apply the PSU patch and then do the upgrade.
I am pasting the alert log errors here. Please advice on what I need to do.

  • Unable to install patchset 10.2.0.3 on XP - wants me to stop ALL services

    Hi,
I am unable to install patchset 10.2.0.3 on our existing OWB installations (patchset 10.2.0.2) already installed.
I get an error message saying that certain files are in use and that I should stop the "following services". It then proceeds to list every running service!!
I have tried installing OWB with the 10.2.0.2 patchset and then I am able to install the 10.2.0.3 one but that is not a viable solution as I already have several users with OWB 10.2.0.2 installed on their machines and they need to patched to 10.2.0.3 ASAP. I really don't want to have to uninstall OWB from their machines and reinstall it.
So, what's going on? Why does the OUI say it wants every Windows service to be stopped?

I think this problem is caused by one or several MS Windows services (maybe MSDTC?). OUI cannot identify exact service name which locks Oracle file(s) and show all services in list.
There are several notes on Metalink about this problem:
Note:356181.1 "Errors about files being in use, when applying a patch."
Note:402546.1 "How To Specify Which OCI.DLL The MS DTC PROCESS Uses"
    Note:198699.1 "Access denied on OCIW32.DLL when removing 9iAS Release 1 (1.0.2) installation"
Note:232827.1 "Universal Installer can not replace the oci.dll Error when install/deinstall Oracle Products"
Note:294350.1 "Write Errors, or Files In Use, or NoServicesForProcessException During Patch Installation"
Try to change registry value HKLM/SOFTWARE/Microsoft/MSDTC/MTxOCI/OracleOciLib to nonexistent file name (for example xxx.dll), restart Windows and try to install patch again. Please give a feedback to this recommendation, I think it would be interesting to all.

  • Windows Services blocking application of patchset for 11.1.0.7

I'm trying to apply the patchset to bring Oracle database from 11.1.0.6 to 11.1.0.7. Things are running smoothly as-is, but I want to be current. When I try to apply the patchset, it complains that 37(!) windows services are holding files that oracle needs to update. Some of the services I can stop (and I do), but some I can't, either because windows immediately restarts the service or there simply isn't a Stop capability available (e.g. DCOM Server Process Launcher).
I've tried rebooting (several times) - no luck. (BtW, This is on XP Pro, SP3).
Any suggestions on how to get around this? Even to discover what files are being held might help. The log files just list the services causing the problems.
    Thanks for any help!

That's a known problem on XP,although I didn't yet see that almost all services are involved. Normally the installer complains about some locked DLLs only. Nevertheless try the following workaround (and make sure - as already said - no Oracle service is running):
    1) Rename $ORACLE_HOME\bin to something else
    2) Reboot the machine
    3) Rename back to $ORACLE_HOME\bin and try again

This is a serious error condition which might interfere with regular operation and the database will be taken offline. If the error happened during upgrade of the 'master' database, it will prevent the entire SQL Server instance from starting. Examine the previous errorlog entries for errors, take the appropriate corrective actions and re-start the database so that the script upgrade steps run to completion.

  • Domain creation failed with patchset 10.1.3.3

    Hi,
I have upgraded the SAO Suite 10.1.3.1 on my windows laptop with the Patchset 10.1.3.3. Next I create a new BPEL domain on BPEL Admin Console. It seems the domain is created correctly. The Logfile contains some errors. Perhaps the Process in the suitcase bpel_TaskActionHandler_1.0.jar has a incorrect format. I can't deploy any BPEL process to the process manager. What is going wrong during the installation of the patchset?

    Hello Shiv,
I'm not able to log on to the default domain. If I creates a new domain the same problem apears. It is possible to build and deploy the TaskActionHandler in the new created domain?

  • R12.1.1 / 11.1.0.7 upgrade : Error with 10.1.3.4 patchset upgrade

    All,
We are on 12.0.2 / 10.2.0.2 (non-rac) in a split-tier architecture. Web/Forms on the Linux node and Concurrent Managers/Database on the Solaris node. We are now on a project to upgrade this environment to 12.1.1 on 11.1.0.7 db. (Non RAC,Non ASM)
Here are the high level tasks that i laid down
-- Create a project instance (clone from Prod)
    -- Upgrade db to 10.2.0.4 from 10.2.0.2
-- Upgrade the techstack Oracle Homes (10.1.2 and 10.1.3)
-- Upgrade the JDK to 1.6.0_X
    -- Upgrade 12.0.2 to R12.1.1
-- Upgrade the database to 11.1.0.7
PS: Direct ugprade from 10.2.0.2 to 11.1.0.7 needs us to be on R12 RUP4. So, i decided to do 10g upgrade as an intermediate step. We are following 752619.1 and all the notes that it refers.
We are hitting an issue upgrading the 10.1.3 Oracle home on the Solaris node. The same upgrade completed fine on the Linux node. Here is the description of the issue.
The runInstaller for 10.1.3.4 patchset expects OPMN to be running for a successful patchset installation. On a node with just batch processing enabled, OPMN does not run by default. The installer tries to start OPMN and errors out saying

Any help on the above issue? We are never going to use OPMN on this node but stuck here currently !!
Deviating a little bit, if we have to consider moving the concurrent managers out of database node to the
web/forms node (just to avoid having to maintain 2 appl_tops and getting away with doing the above tasks 2 times)
, what are the various things to consider?
    -- Network latency
-- R12 being Unified APPL_TOP, can we just try to bring up ICM on Web/Forms node? (just enable the service)
-- We are aware that we might have to move the custom top and test custom programs (especially host programs).
Is there any other considerations when moving Concurrent managers from a Solaris node(64 bit) to Linux node (32 bit) ?
One last question: Why are these adoacore/adoafm scripts taking a long time?
    Any feedback is highly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Arun

  • Question about a bug which should be fixed in the 10.2.0.4 patchset

    Hi,
We have a 10.2.0.4 single instance database on Sun Solaris SPARC (64-bit) and have the same symptoms as described in Bug 4643723 (error codes and the stack trace are the same). That bug should be already fixed in 10.2.0.4 patchset.
Does anyone have experience on how to proceed in such cases - I mean, is making a SR on metalink an obvious action?
Is it possible that the patchset wasn't applied correctly although "opatch lsinventory" outputs that the "10g Release 2 Patchset 3 (10.2.0.4)" is installed and SYS.REGISTRY$HISTORY also contains a record of the upgrade. The upgrade from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.4 was performed 6 months ago and the database was continuously up and runing till then.
    Thanks for any answers

many bugs can have the same errors. Raise an SR.
Oracle Support will ask for an opatch lsinventory, and may ask you verify library versions, or relink.
