10.1.2 Plus options

If I launch Plus and then create a workbook I can go to the View menu to turn on / off the Available Items Pane, Selected Items Pane, Status Bar, Title, Crosstab, Graph and Text Area. There are also options on the Edit menu such as Add Worksheet, Duplicate Worksheet and so on. With me so far?
Ok, firstly I want to be able to turn on /off the check boxes from the View menu without going into Plus first. I want to be able to a) set my defaults in advance, or b) turn one or more of the options off altogether so that they do not even appear. Can either of these be done? Now, I know that if I log out and come back in Discoverer somehow remembers the check boxes that I set the last time I was logged in, so where does it store these? I cannot find anything anywhere.
Secondly, is there a way to customize / turn off some of the options on the Edit menu so that my users do not have the opportunity to Duplicate Worksheets etc?
I would dearly like to have some positive answer to one of my questions.

There are obviously the standard URL parameters for loading workbooks and connecting to the applet, those are all doc'd at:

The settings that are stored and remembered every time you change them in Plus are stored in the Discoverer Preference store which is a Corba component. There is a file in called pref.txt in <OH>/discoverer/util that has some of the options for turning on and off (mostly the ones beginning with Show). Those can be found at:

Once the txt file is changed you have to run the registerall.sh <.bat> script and applypreferences.sh <.bat> script to be sure they apply. This only sets the default preferences for users, I don't think there is any way of forcing them and now allowing the user to change them on their own, unless they have a disable flag in the pref.txt

Control or Option Click in Finder Problem

Mouse click plus option Key, or Mouse Click with control key, all Icons on desktop disappear and reappear. Drive Icon moves, and new window appears.
I have reinstalled OS 10.4, ran all updates, problem still exists. Problem does not exist in other login accounts on machine. Only main use account, mine.
Any ideas?

If the problem is in your account only, take a look in this folder:
"/Users/yourname/Library/Contextual Menu Items"
Remove anything you find and log out and back in. Generally the Finder quitting when you control click is caused by an incompatible Contextual Menu item. One of the commonest causes is one from StuffIt.

How do I get Mail address list (contacts) back in the composition toolbar like it was in Mavericks?

I just upgraded to OS 10.10 on my Mac Mini. In the older versions of Mail there was a 'Contacts' button in the toolbar when composing an email. If selected, you could choose any number of addresses to include in the address fields. It was simple to use, especially by holding down the 'open apple' key to select multiple addresses. I didn't use address groups, because my email lists varied greatly.
It is gone and I can't find how to include it in the toolbar. It seems to have been replaced with a 'plus' sign that opens up the contact list. I have not been able to figure out how to replicate the older process with this new 'plus' option. I've tried the Mail help, but found it lacking.
Please tell me there is a way to bring this feature back so I don't have to switch to another Mail application.

Solved it. You move the reload and stop buttons to the right of the address bar. They have to be in that order. Then when you hit done on the customize windows they become part of the address bar.

Constant crashing with FF13 and newest Flash. Tried reinstall of previous version; nothing but trouble

A few weeks ago, everything worked very nicely on my desktop computer. Then I succumbed to the nagging and "upgraded" to FF13, as well as the new Flash and Real players. Immediately, FF started crashing. First, it would instantly crash with any tab that had Flash embedded.
OK, I disabled and then finally uninstalled Flash and Real, but that didn't solve the problem; it would still crash 3 or 4 times a day, and with as few as 30 tabs open (the previous version could easily run 100+ tabs). Apart from those 3 "updates", the only other thing I had done was to update my existing plug-ins and add-ons, but I even tried disabling all of my plug-ins and add-ons; FF still kept crashing!
Today, I got fed up and uninstalled FF13 (after using MozBackup), and d/loaded and installed the previous version of FF. Did that solve the problem? Nope. Now, I can't get Tab Mix Plus to work, nor can I find my hundreds of old saved Sessions with Session Manager.
I tried uninstalling Tab Mix Plus and then reinstalling it, but I just get an error message saying it couldn't be installed. In fact, this is the THIRD time I've had to type this post, since the first time, I mistakenly tried to open a new tab to search Tab Mix Plus in Google, but the f{ck1ng tab opened Google right over this page, wiping out my almost finished post, and the second time, I went to Tools-->Options-->Manage Add-Ons-->Tab Mix Plus-->Options, and it froze up FF, requiring restarting it! Indeed, it seems as if the entire Manage Add-Ons menu is now buggy and generally freezes up.
I am *this*far*away* from ditching FF entirely (after 7 years of being loyal to it) and trying Chrome. It really is infuriating how difficult it is to get this straightened out! Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you tried creating a new Firefox profile and testing whether that will run without crashes? This is a non-destructive test that creates a new settings folder. It picks up plugins from the registry, but otherwise looks like a fresh install.
If you haven't used the Profile Manager before, this article describes how to start up into it and create a new profile: [[Use the Profile Manager to create and remove Firefox profiles]].
You can import your bookmarks by restoring a backup from your previous profile folder. For convenience of access, make a copy of your last bookmarks backup on the desktop. You can find that folder using Help > Troubleshooting Information > Show Folder; navigate up one level to view your last active profile, then into the bookmarkbackups folder. Copy the latest .json file to the desktop. Then in the dialog pictured in the article "[[Back up your bookmarks or move them to another computer]]", use Restore > Choose File to import that file into your new profile.

Problem with new firefox tabs and window focus

Here's a problem that I've had for ages - sometimes it annoys me, other times I can live with it. Right now it's really p***ing me off. :x
I have selected 'a new tab in the most recent window' under FF's Preferences->Tabs->Open links from other applications in:, so as an example, if I click on a URL in a mail in Thunderbird, Firefox opens it in a new tab. However, window focus stays on Thunderbird. I run both of them full screen, so although I'm looking at the web page in Firefox, anything I do on the keyboards affects Thunderbird. It affects URLs opened from other apps too e.g. if I open a terminal and do
firefox www.archlinux.org
focus stays on the terminal window. The only exception is when firefox is not already running - in that case, firefox launches with focus.
DE is xfce4, and the system is completely up to date.
I've done some googling, and AFAICS, nobody else seems to have this problem. Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks MAC!EK - definitely a useful add-on, but it still doesn't solve my problem. In Tab Mix Plus Options, I have the following selected:
Links -> Open links from other applications in: New tab
Events-> Tab Focus -> Focus/Select tabs that open from: <all>
However, the behaviour is as before i.e. I click a URL in Thunderbird, it opens in a new tab in Firefox, but window focus stays on Thunderbird. Within Firefox, the newly-opened tab is selected or focussed, but Firefox itself is not.

How do I restore tab behavior back to the way it was in FF 3.5??

I just upgraded to FF 3.6.13, I generally wait to upgrade until any new bugs have been identified and corrected. In FF 3.5, when I opened a new tab from a link, the new tab appeared to the right of the current tab (NOT at the very end of the tab bar) and the focus STAYED ON THE CURRENT TAB. If I opened multiple new tabs, they each opened to the right of the previously opened new tab, as in <original tab sequence> Yahoo Facebook GMail MyBlog <New tab sequence after opening links> Yahoo Facebook NewFBLink1 NewFBLink2 NewFBLink3 NewFBLink4 GMail MyBlog, with the focus remaining on the CURRENT TAB (in this example Facebook, from which I was opening the links). In 3.6.13, the tabs SOMETIMES open to the right of the current tab, sometimes at the end of the tab bar, and no matter how I fiddle the settings, I cannot make them CONSISTENT. Have tried the extensions 'Tab Mix Plus' and 'New Tab at End' - these do not give me consistent behavior - sometimes they do as I wish, sometimes not. In addition, sometimes the focus stays on the current tab (which is what I want) - sometimes the focus changes to the new tab just opened, sometimes it stays on the current tab until I've opened 3 or 4 new tabs, then jumps to one of the new ones. In the 'options', I do NOT have 'when I open a link in a new tab, switch to it immediately' checked; yet sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't. HOW do I achieve consistent behavior?? This is why I don't upgrade often. Very frustrating. I have not changed any plugins, other than trying Tab Mix Plus and New Tabs at End after upgrading to 3.6.13, once I realized that the tab behavior was not consistent. First of all, sometimes Extensions can interfere with one another. That '''''<u>MAY</u>''''' be the case with your using both Tab Mix Plus and New Tabs at End. They both have a function that you can set for where new tabs appear. TMP has options concerning focus on new tabs.
My suggestions are:
#Un-install New Tabs at End (Tools > Add-ons > Extensions, click New Tabs at End, click Uninstall, then exit and restart Firefox).
#*If using no other extension that affect where tabs appear (to the right of current tab or at end of all open tabs), a simple preference change can affect that change for you, <u>and you have one less extension to be concerned with</u>. See if the above changes give you the results you are seeking. Tab Mix Plus has lots of options. You may need to change one or two settings at a time until it behaves the way you desire. Keep track of the changes you make so that you can easily re-trace/re-set when the results are not what you want.

How do I turn off the tab bar in FF 24 when only one window is open?

I have just updated to FF 24.0 from FF 20 with Tab Mix Plus already installed. (OSX 10.6.8) From the Firefox Preferences menu, Tabs box, I have set the "Hide the tab bar:" option to "When I have only one tab." I have also gone to the Tab Mix Plus option box and set the drop down to the same value. Unfortunately, it doesn't have the desired effect. Firefox opens to my home page with a tab at the bottom. (I prefer the tabs at the bottom and that setting still works.) With only one page open, that tab is completely unnecessary, takes up space, and just plain bugs me.
Now, here's what I have found. Once I've started Firefox, if I go to the Tab Mix Plus options box and select "Hide the tab bar: Always" and then set the option back to "When I have only one tab" I can enjoy one page without the tab bar, that is, until I've opened several tabs and then closed all but one. Then I see the tab bar stubbornly remain. An incompatibility between FF and Tab Mix Plus, perhaps. Is FF 24 not letting Tab Mix see the number of open tabs? Dunno. But I can't seem to solve it.

Are you saying that the problem lies not with Firefox but with Tab Mix Plus? Tab Mix worked up through FF 20 to my knowlege. And I see from other questions that the persistant tab bar was an issue with FF 23 as well.
Please note, that setting aside the extension issue, the Firefox preference Tab option should turn off the tab option when there is only one window open without any help from addons or extensions. I have disabled Tab Mix Plus, and set the FF option correctly, but the problem remains. As I see it, FF is not working as this user expects it to and is (slightly) broken.

Individual, Creative cloud, single app, Adobe Acrobat Pro X1, Forms and Responses allowed

Firstly many apologies if this is a stupid question or if it has been answered before, but I'm very new to using FormsCentral only in the past few days.
I purchased an Individual Creative cloud, single app plan at £17.58 per month for only Adobe Acrobat Pro X1, I am able it seems allowed to create forms etc, however are there any responses per form limit for my subscription? when looking at the features for the Adobe Acrobat Pro X1 product it only says FormsCentral is included and does not suggest any limitations. However, I've seen other comments which suggest needing to upgrade, but I have not seen any messages asking me to. I would prefer to know the limitations now rather than doing an important project form and then suddenly see messages appear once 50, or so responses have arrived ?
Any help or guidance would be much appreciated.

2010 iMacs do not have Thunderbolt, they have mini-display ports. You are using the wrong connection, you need a mini display port to mini display port. Please read up on what Apple says in Target Display Mode: Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

[SOLVED]Intel HDA HDMI Keeps Coming Back From The Dead Like a Vampire

I have an Asus H87M-Pro mobo with a E3-1265L v3 Intel CPU. This CPU does my audio and video, but the problem is I haven't had audio since I installed this mobo. Dead silent.
I believe the problem must be that HDMI audio is siezing card0, which I infer is the default sound slot, but blacklisting the modules hasn't worked:
blacklist snd-hda-intel-hdmi
blacklist snd-hda-codec-hdmi
... and setting those modules to never, never take card0 hasn't worked:

Oh it's clear when you have different sound cards, as with their example of the MIA. But what's not clear at all within the Intel driver, is the relation between "index value" (an utterly abstract term unconnected with anything substantive), and ID. I infer that the IDs in this case are PCH and HDMI. But HDMI has two possibilities, analog and digital, as does PCH. How can HDMI have an analog function? And is PCH my goal? And what does PCH mean anyway? Why does everything have HDMI in the name? Where does Pulse fit in all this, since alsamixer considers it the default? And why is the module named snd-hda-intel-hdmi.ko yet when it's loaded it's called snd_hda_intel_hdmi? And which should I use in blacklist.conf? And why is there a snd-hda-intel-hdmi.ko and snd-hda-codec-hdmi.ko? And which should I use in blacklist.conf for options?
See none of this is explained in the wiki, and yet is fundamental to understanding how to set this up. Whoever wrote the wiki already knows all this and assumes the reader does too, which is a common failing of tech writers. With huge gaps in the information, I can't begin to synthesize a solution. Maybe fundamentals aren't important to the kids these days. They will find out soon enough though.

This is ambiguous, since, like I previously stated snd-hda-intel is used by both cards. Again the link to wiki where it is explained step by step how to determine vid and pid and use it with options. Vid and pid are used to determine a specific card and so specific options can be set for a specific card. They can be used with both suggestions. Yes there are very unlikely scenarios, where it might cause more trouble than good.

I am currently experiencing some frustration with Adobe FormsCentral. When I am creating my form, many of the options say 'upgrade subscription' in order for me to use them. When I click the option, it tells me to either upgrade to the 'Plus' option for $12/mo or to purchase Acrobat Pro which will include FormsCentral. However, I already own Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. In fact, if FormsCentral had not been included in my Acrobat installation, I would never have learned of it.
Can someone shed some light on how I can activate FormsCentral or why it isn't working for me?

EDIT: To clarify, I seem to be confused between the following two web pages:
Subscription Options - Free, Basic, and Plus | Adobe FormsCentral - This one indicates that Acrobat Pro is the ultimate version with unlimited everything. This is the up to date one that is linked everywhere
Subscription Options - Free, Basic, and Plus | Adobe FormsCentral - This is the old site and seems to make the Acrobat Pro model a 'base' version

Here's my confusion.
On the Acrobat 11 subscription page I see this copy: "A FormsCentral Plus account and an Acrobat.com account are included with subscriptions to Acrobat Pro only when purchased in select countries."
I placed an order for the full download at $449 and was under the assumption that I would get FormsCentral Plus as well.
Does the download NOT get FormsCentral Plus? If so, seems a bit harsh as we paid $449 up front (I know you're not personally responsible for this policy, just thought I would pass this on).
Would you advise that I talk to customer service to see if I could get FormsCentral Plus added at no extra charge?
