10.10.2 - WiFi Issues Persisting

My rMBP Late 13 13in Yosemite 10.10.2's Wi-Fi is still atrocious at connecting to my router, it's so horrible that it enjoys kicking itself off.
Errors I keep getting in the console is related to netbiosd shutting down and it self-assigns an IP.
Again, this isn't happening on Mavericks. This disappoints me even more despite Apple's claim is that they have "fixed" this issue! This is just misleading information for other users with this problem!
This isn't a good thing, Apple. You're disappointing not just me, but possibly others with this issue we're facing.
I've done everything asked around here, neither worked and neither did checking my router's settings.
It's all down to Yosemite itself. Not really having fun at all.

Apple doesn’t routinely monitor the discussions. These are mostly user to user discussions.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • IOS8.1 WiFi issues persist

Does anyone see WiFi issues like slowness, poor signal strength even while you are near the router? I see these issues with iPhone 5s iOS8.1 update. The problem has been since iOS8 but had never seen this in iOS7.1.2. Looks like some serious issue here.
Sometimes WiFi works in office but at home it just doesn't work. On the home network i have my laptop and other iphone 4s which work perfectly fine though. So looks like a iOS 8.x issue for iPhone 5s.
Apple why dont you fix is right when you say "resolves WiFi performance issues on iphones with some base stations". Do a RCA please and fix this as my phone is unusable at home network.

I think I am going to sell all Pads and iPhones to move to android. This is ridiculous. Wifi is still the same issue slow, Safari still freezing sometimes. the problems still have not gotten fixed. Wasting so much time and money to spend on these Apple products and don't get the service the way is supposed to be. 3 dam failure continuous updates creating more bugs and glitches, wifi issue getting worse. I feel like apple stealing people money and run away by providing an awful service. If the iOS 8 is not ready don't release, don't just release and destroy people money and time. We spent thousand of $ for your product lol. Don't except anymore update from Apple lol

  • IPhone 5 Wifi issues persist after 6.0.1

I have been having these issues. I am finding certain apps are always slow downloading whereas others download quickly all the time. It is most notable with podcasts where some podcasts take forever to download (always the same ones) whereas others always download quickly. I have my iPhone 4S right next to my iPhone 5 on the same network and, for example, an 80mb Vergecast podcast will take 90 minutes to download on the iPhone 5 but only 2 minutes on the 4S. Both are running iOS6. The Engadget podcast of similar size will download on both in 2 minutes. I have this same thing happening with many podcasts. Ironically when I go on the network in the Apple Store the problem doesn't exist. I do have a WPA2 network at home but even when I turn off the WPA2 the problem persists. I have had the iPhone 5 replaced already five times and it hasn't resolved the issue. Not sure if it is hardware or software - as it's possible the replacements were part of the same bad batch. I don't notice the problem during basic web browsing or emailing which is probably why many users aren't noticing the problem. My wife, for example, is not a power user and hadn't noticed the issue but when I tested her iPhone 5 it has the same issues. I have now tested 4 friends iPhone 5s as well as my own on a total of 5 different wifi networks and the problem persists across all of them. Updating to 6.0.1 has not fixed the issue. It sounds like maybe some kind of DNS issue possibly?

I have the same issue. I think that the iphone 5 doesn't like specific routers, but I just can't pin point what the difference is between the routers. So far, I have tried 5 different routers with WPA2 and 3 of them works just fine while the other 2 have problems. Very weird ....

  • Wifi Issue Persists after Updated to IOS 6.1.2

    Hey guys.
My iphone 4s has been acting weird for over a week now. The wifi comes on for a few moments and then disappears and my phone cannot detect or list the wifi spots. I have tried resetting network connections and restoring my phone and updating. However, none of these work and I have updated my router firmware as well this morning and ran diagnose tests on my router but it's fine. My wifi works fine on my Ipod touch 4g. I have tried turning the airplane option on and off as well too on my phone but nothing works. Any other solutions or advice? Thank you!

o.o; okay thanks ;o. hmm do you know if they charge if i take it to an apple store for an evaluation?
Forgot to mention that my phone works when it's at school though. I don't have a problem connecting to the school's wifi just at home.

  • Persistent WiFi Issues

Apple! In the name of all that is HOLY, please fix wifi in Lion. There have been persistent wifi issues since the last Leopard OS update.

One last detail, connectivity through my iPhone's hotspot works completely fine. No idea if that is related / helpful in any way.

  • X240 wifi issues

I have often noticed that this laptop (win8) faces issues trying to connect with wifi when other cheaper devices (older laptops, phones) have no such difficulty. Generally this happens in cafes so the issue is bearable but of late I have started facing it in my home (netgear router). Considering how expensive this laptop is I find it absolutely unacceptable that its performance should be so pedestrian. Let me explain the issue. Laptop can't connect with home network when every other device I have connects to it. Specifically, it displays that ridiculous yellow exclamation mark which essentially means "I am going to throw a massive tantrum because I am a rich spoiled brat." Troubleshooting it comes up with the generic sounding error "Wi/Fi doesn't have a valid IP configuration". Tried several solutions given online but none works. Have also updated the driver to the Intel one given on Lenoveo's site but doesn't help. The network adapter is N-7260 which, I am led to believe from the forums here at Lenovo, is an absolute POS? Anyway, I'd really appreciate any help here, short of which I will be forced never to consider a Lenovo again (I've had several before.)

    Hi Ankit_iitg,
    Welcome to Lenovo Community!
As per the query we understood that you are facing the issue with Wifi on your ThinkPad X240.
Please let us know is the issue persists only in your home network or it is occurring with all Wifi network?
If this you are facing only in your home network, then I suggest you to check with updating the Netgear router Firmware.
Also check with disabling any antivirus which is having firewall in it. Please let us know the status.
    Hope to hear back soon!
    Best regards,
    Hemanth Kumar

  • Apple says small number of Apple TVs have WiFi issues, opens replacement program

I have an AppleTV 3rd generation with issues of connectivity when I use the Radio. Every 10 or 15 minutes disconnects from showing an error on the screen, I research on the internet and apparently there is a program to replace some devices due a known malfuncion with the WiFi.
I always blamed to my cheap router and the poor internet connection I had in my former country Argentina. Now i moved to Chile and i have a nice Cisco/Linksys router and the issue persists.
Please check the links below about the replacement program:
    http://www.macworld.com/article/2034731/report-apple-replacing-some-third-gen-ap ple-tv-units-with-wi-fi-issues.html
    http://9to5mac.com/2013/04/15/apple-says-small-number-of-apple-tvs-have-wifi-iss ues-opens-replacement-program/
I would like to know if this program exists and also if my device is under this program.
The serial number of my AppleTV is C0*****RHN.
    <Edited by host>

That program was from over a year ago, it is no longer running. It still required proper troubleshooting to occur. It wouldn't have to do with an internet connection as this an issue with the local/wifi network, a cheap router will impact performance but there are other factors.
Using ethernet will help to see if there's a wifi issue. Get a network report from istumbler, netstumbler or similar, look for signal strength and noise.
If your network looks ok then I would take to Apple for testing, if it is found to be defective then they are usually good about replacement.

  • Macbook pro retina 2013 wifi issues unde bootcamp

Please help I've use the original copy of windows 8.1 but why the problem still persist?

  • MacBook (Early 2006) Wifi Issue Running on OSX 10.6.8

I have a MacBook (Early 2006) upgraded from Tiger to Snow Leopard.  I began to notice that sometimes the Wifi connection would stop function properly.  There would be no internet connectivity and won't dectect any Airport Extremes or Express from the Airport Utility.  And this happens quite often.  However, the Wifi icon in the taskbar shows that the connection is intact and no errors is indicated!
It's quite frustrating since it's an intermittent issue.
The following actions seems to help a little but the issue persists:
    Jumping between different websites
    Wait a while
Disconnecting and then connecting to the same Wifi connection
The methods I've tried and failed to fix the issue so far:
    Changing the Wifi channels
Resetting the SMC (System Management Controller)
    Resetting the PRAM and NVRAM
I'm using the Airport Extreme as the main router and I have several Airport Express that extends the network via Ethernet cable.
Your help is appreciated and thanks in advance!

  • WiFi Issue with S850

I am facing WiFi issues with my S850 phone. It does connect to wifi network but browsing does not work. It is same for all the wifi networks. I am not able to browse internet or any other work which req net connectivity,

can you try do a factory restore then just use the phone without changing anything in settings. I am not sure if this is caused by settings or a hardware issue.
If after doing a factory reset and problem persist then bring it to the service center.

  • Does ios 6.1.3 wifi issues get solved in next update?

Has anyone solved their wifi issues after new update of ios ? Coz i am having wifi issues since i updated my iphone 4s to 6.1.2 . I dont think it is a hardware failure... I have tried resetting my iphone as new device. I have checked my router settings which is a netgear make.
Please help if new software updates help solve this problem? I have updated this from 6.1.2 to 6.1.3 but unfortunately  the problem persisted after updating my device to latest ios running. I guess many are having same issues. GUYS WE MUST DO SOMETHING SO THAT APPLE LISTENS US ATLEAST.

I'm having the same issue since 6.1.2. I worked throught the various checklists and nothing has worked. What I have noticed is most of the 'fixes' require me to do someithing with my home router. I don't understand that as I use my phone as a hotspot or internet connection while I'm away from home and on 3G. That part doesn't make sense.
When the phone is connected it is recognized in iTunes but not in the System Preferences Network Settings page.
I used to connect my phone to my Mac via USB and opt to use the USB Only option for HotSpot with the Mac WIFI off. The blue bar on the phone comes on indicating that HotSpot is working. It has worked for me like that until 6.1.2. Since then the USB Only option does not work and I have to use WIFI on both the phone and the Mac. If I'm lucky, I get a connection and can get my mail and do some surfing before it drops the connection. The blue bar that comes up on the phone is there indicating the hotspot is on, but the connection is lost. A dozen or so resets, of either my Mac or my phone, later and I might get a connection again. That's no way to do business.
All I did was update the phone when it told me there was an update available. Did I miss something?

  • Anyone having wifi issues on the 3gs after updating to 6.1.3?

Recently got rid of an iphone 4 that was having wifi issues after updating to 6.1.3 but wanted to know if any 3gs users are having issues with wif after installing the same update? Currently on 4.3.3

You can try resetting your iPhone by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • IOS wifi issues...

Overnight my iOS devices (iPad 1, mini, iPhones 5 and 4) are struggling with my wifi network (BT HomeHub 3 with various extenders around the home).
It will show as connected but then not allow an internet connection. (e.g. on Twitter it won't download anymore tweets). Whilst in safari, trying to access a website a box appears asking for a username and password (almost as if you are logging in to a private network) even for sites where no such exists or I have been asked for one before.
This is very perplexing. It does not seem to be the router, even by turning Homehub off and on again, it still persists. Yet, it doesn't happen all the time, sometimes I can access apps, safari at the same point in the house fine, then next minute it won't work.
There seems to be no trigger to this... I've not updated my devices with new iOS and as far as I'm aware there has been no BT update...
    Any advice welcome.

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • Z10 STL100-3 WiFi issue

    Hi,
I have a STL100-3 on Bell Mobility in Canada and am going to be sending the phone out for a warranty repair tomorrow unless anybody can help me out with a WiFi issue I've been having since updating to 10.1 last month.
When I disconnect from a WiFi network and don't immediately connect to another network, then the WiFi on the phone will be completely disabled until I do a restart of the phone. The WiFi will still show as being on but a network scan will show that there are no WiFi networks in range. I know this is wrong since my other devices can connect to my network and there are several other networks in range.
I have already done a security wipe and reloaded the OS through my computer and the problem persists. From what I can tell from searching online, I seem to be the only one that has been having this issue.
I called my carrier for tech support and they are saying that my phone will need to be sent out for warranty repair, but I 'd like to avoid that if possible. Has anybody else experienced this issue and if so, what have you done to resolve it?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
Please try this sequence...note that, throughout the entire 4h15m process, your BB must remain directly connected to a known-good wall charger (not PC USB, not a cradle):With the battery inside, connect your BB to the wall chargerLeave it alone for 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display doesRemove the batteryWait 15 minutesInsert the batteryWait another 2 hours, no matter what the LED or the display doesThis has been known to "kick start" some BBs. If it fails, please try again but increase the wait time in step 4 to 2 hours, and perhaps as long as 4-5 hours.
It is also possible that your battery or BB has experienced a problem...to test, this sequence is needed:Obtain an known good and already fully charged additional battery...use it in your BB and see what happensObtain access to a known good and identical BB...use your battery in it and see what happensThe results of this will indicate if it's your BB or your battery that has the problem. Note carefully please that "new" and "know good" are not necessarily the same things. While rare, a "new" battery certainly could be defective. Rather, the simplest (and least costly, btw) method to conduct this test is to find someone with an identical BB who has no issues...trade batteries and see what happens.
Good luck and let us know!

  • Possible solution to ipad 3 wifi issue

This has worked for me, so hopefully it will help some of the other ipad 3 users who are experiencing wifi issues.
I have an Ipad 3 32G wifi only model. It was shipped to me on 3/16. I had wifi problems similar to many posters here. Namely, the wifi disconnects and reconnects once every few minutes. It is independent of the range between my ipad and my router (i.e. it happens when the ipad is within 1 foot of the router or 100 feet).
I tried the whole reset wireless network process and that did not work...
What did work was an update to my router's firmware. I have a netgear n600 rounter and updating the firmware immediately solved the disconnect problem. I also borrowed my dad's ipad 2 and tested the wifi signal strength between his ipad 2 and my ipad 3 as a function of distance. The two devices signals were comparable at various distances from the router.
of course, in places with public wireless, it is doubtful that these routers' firmware are diligently updated, so wifi problems will likely persist in public areas. But at least you can solve the problem in your home where you have control over your router :-)
    hope this help.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router. Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
