10.2.0.3 (non-vista)

Hi,
I understand that there is a 10.2.0.3 release that is not specific to Vista?
If that is correct can someone please tell me where I can download it from please?

It's available for Oracle Database 10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3) for Microsoft Windows Vista, if you want this for non-vista i.e. only Windows, then you may first have to install 10.2.0.1 and then download the patch for higher release 10.2.0.3 (if any available) from Metalink.

Installing OVI Suit on Windows Vista Enterprise di...

Hy,
I have a great problem with the OVI suit installation on a Windows Vista Enterprise 32Bit.
Before i install ovi suit, there was the "Nokia PC Suit" on the PC this software is uninstalled now, and also i run the “Nokia_PC_Suite_Cleaner_7_1_1.exe“.
Also i have browsed the Support Board and Google/Bing for solutions,
But nothing of these entries can help me with this installation.
OVI Suit version is actually downloaded yesterday (3.0.0.290).
The installation stops at 1/3 of the normal run.
I have tested the installation on 3 machines like the problem PC, without a problem.
So i have no idea what i can do to run the installation to the end.
Now I have started a new try to install the OVI Suit, and deleted before all Registry-Keys.
By the way, is this really normal that the installation needs more than 120MB RAM?
So it’s 16:30 at your site next business day is Monday, i hope you have all details and can help me.

Windows Vista and iTunes does not work

First Time sorry for my bad English, I'm from Germany and my English is not the best.
I have the new Windows Vista but iTunes does not work good.
And I have to use it, to manage my music on my iPod.
When there will be a Vista compatibles Version of iTunes??
And when will come an 64-Bit Version?

iTunes running under VISTA does not recognize media burned by iTunes Backup (v7.0.2) from a non-Vista machine.
The original machine recognizes the media just fine, but the new VISTA machine does not recognize the dvd at all.
Anyone else having a problem with VISTA recognizing burnt media?

Installing EBS R12 on Windows Vista Basic

I am trying to install EBS R12 media pack on my computer having Windows Vista Basic.
I could have the installation pass 2 steps out of 5.
But while performing the third step, it is failing with the following error:

How to get Zen Touch to work on Windows Vista without PFS (worked!)

CHow to get Zen Touch to work on Windows Vista without PFS (worked!)? ***THIS WORKED***
For all of you that want to get their music out of the Zen touch, and are stuck with Vista and .0.03 firmware (non vista recognisable), and don't want to erase everything by installing the latest firmware, here is what worked for me:
)Uninstall every piece of Touch software you got and reboot.
2) Download the latest drivers from Creative: JB3MV2...exe, together with the latest Nomad explorer, and the latest Notmad explorer from Red Chair (a trial is enough, version 9.0.3 currently).
3) Right click the driver, properties, go to compatibility mode, and select Windows XP SP2. Make sure your Zen is unplugged (worked for me that way). Right click the driver installer again and Run as Administrator. It hanged around 72% for me, no biggy, open your task manager and shut the installer off.
4)Before rebooting, install Notmad explorer.(I installed only the Zen touch part of it. I tried to run it right away but got a 'cannot find explorer.exe error - again, no biggy).
5) Reboot, plug in your Zen. Again for me, Notmad didn't work. This is what worked: Without messing up anything, install Nomad Explorer by Creative on top of it all, and reboot again.
6) After reboot, with your Zen still plugged in, right click the little Notmad icon on the right part of the taskbar and select 'Connect Jukebox Zen'. And voila, check your explorer, it should hopefully recognise the Zen Touch like windows xp would.
If you still run into trouble, just install stuff from the beggining, making sure Compatibility: WinXP SP2 and Run as Admin are used everywhere, and keep rebooting till it hopefully works.
Best of luck. edit: Using Winamp to transfer files worked as well.

Tecra M3 - What about drivers for Windows Vista

It is nearly one week after Vista premiere - and siell there is no drivers for Tecra M3!
I've installed drivers form Tecra M5 (similar hardware) - and some of them works perfect - but some of them - doesn't work,
When can I expect drivers support for my laptop form Toshiba?
Actually - this is not to old laptop - it has Pentium M - 2,13, 2GB Ram, GF 6600TE 128MB... so it is profoundly enough for Vista
But drivers and software like Toshiba Power Saver, or Fn keys? - when? anybody knows?

If the notebook is not ??Vista capable?? I presume it will not be supported. I have older non-Vista supported Satellite. Vista runs well and I don??t care about Toshiba specific stuff.
Probably notebook and PC manufacturers have decide to make some kind of ??dead line?? and all products produced before this line will not be supported. Bad for us consumers, but good for PC industry!

Qosmio G15: I could not find Vista graphic driver

I tried but it just doesn't cut it although the Vista upgrade advisor said it would.
I couldn't get the display adapter to work right w/ it.
Couldn't find the drivers for the geforce 5700. Oh well.

Imported MPEG video playback problems

Hi,
I have a client whose camera produces MPG video files. When she imports them into Presenter, the resulting video plays back way too fast, with no audio. If she plays the original MPG video on the desktop media player, it plays fine. Anyone with experience with this type of issue?

Lenovo supplied OEM trial version of Trend PC-cillin Internet Security 2007

I just found out that the bundled OEM Trial License of Trend Micro's PC-cillin Internet Security 2007 that came bundled on my Lenovo 3000-K100 with Vista Home Premium doesn't have a working Anti-Spam component. From the Trend Knowledge Base Article 1036053 it says "Note: You can only use the Anti-Spam Tool Bar on Windows XP. It is not available in Windows 2000 or Windows Vista."
I've been struggling to get the Anti-Spam working in Vista and Outlook 2002 for the past 2 nights. Sheesh...nice going Lenovo in picking a non-Vista Compatible Security Partner.
I strongly recommend removing this program and getting ANY other Security Software that fully supports Vista (look for the Vista Logo). Symantec/Norton or Kaspersky are my best recommendations.

Apparently it is not free... The 90 day OEM Trial of IS 2007 will not convert to a 90 day OEM trial of IS 2008 - I've tried and even got these responses from 2 different Trend Technical Support People:

The free upgrade is for single license only. The serial number taht you have is for multi license. You can contact the distributor of the computer for more inquiry.

As per the first engineer who handled your case, the free upgrade is only valid for single user serial numbers. Multi user serial number such as yours is program specific which means it can only work for 2007 version. We are sorry to tell you that we can not provide a serial number for the 2008 version. We suggest to install PC-Cillin 2007, even though the program is older, we can assure you that it can also provided same protection as the 2008 version.
Trend Customer Support is non-existant IMHO.

Does Self-Paced Learning require the Enable Navigation?

Good morning.
I'm working with multiple Cap4 generated swf files aggregated into one swf/html project incorporating the Self-Paced Learning feature (in the TOC). After I published the project, I opened it & went through a few slides, then closed the project. The Resume feature would not work, so I selected the Enable Navigation feature along with the Self-Paced Learning feature, and now the Resume function works! Is this a bug? Is it possible for me to get the Resume feature to work without enabling Navigation? I have to control the sequence my audience takes in my project, so enabling Navigation is not desirable. Implementing an LMS is not possible in my circumstances.

Too bad that each LMS has different reactions, are you sure it has this functionality. Here only the tips that are clear.
In the LMS Customization settings, check that 'Never send Resume data' is unticked.
You can turn on Self-paced learning in the TOC, but this is not a functionality about transmitting data to the LMS, it will store a cookie on the PC to have the user get back to the place where he left previously.

Cisco 3825 as a EZ VPN Server

I have a Cisco 3825 setup as a EZ VPN Server. I can connect and authenticate to it but I can't pass traffic (at least that's what it seems like).
My internal network is 192.168.111.x and my VPN pool is 10.13.0.x. I am succesfully assigned an IP from that pool when I authenticate with the Cisco client.
Here is my Group part of my config with my domain name pulled out:

Do you plan on using SSL VPN or Cisco IPSEC VPN Client? SSL VPN client can auto-deploy to any non-Vista Windows machine (does not yet support Vista to my knowledge). If remote users have Vista, you'll need to use VPN Client software installed on their machines. Also consider how you will do authentication...do you require two-factor, or pointing ASA to a Cisco Secure ACS server, or perhaps pointing to Windows Active Directory for authentication? Lots of possibilities...

QT Pro crashes on export

I have a video (.mov format) filmed in a dark location that is difficult to see. I can adjust the A/V contrast/brightness settings to see the video on my computer, but when I try to upload the file online, the contrast/brightness settings don't carry over. I need to export the file with the contrast/brightness settings, and I'd like to also compress the file so it is emailable.
I bought Quicktime Pro specifically for this purpose, but it crashes every time I try to export the file. I just learned that QT Pro offers absolutely no telephone support. Grr. I tried on a Vista computer and on a non-Vista computer - same problem. I tried adjusting the "video" choice between 'safe mode (GDI only) and "direct X" in the "advanced" tab of QT preferences. I tried emptying the cache and increasing the size of the download cache. Nothing works. $30 down the drain?

I too am having crashing issues.... and I too got no help from Apple. Just go to website they said... great!!?? Now I know why I never use these guys products!!!
However, rant over, I do have a need to use Quicktime.
I am trying to use Quicktime to convert quicktime movies to the new H.264 codec, a function available with Quicktime Pro.
However when I go to export window and then to the video setings window, quicktime just suddenly closes(not crash). I can go into the audio section though and change options in there. I have uninstalled and re-installed with no luck.
This is extremely frustrating
any help greatly appreciated

Windows running RAID 0 on Bootcamp

Hello,
I've seen plenty of posts related to OS X using RAID and boot camp not letting you install windows, I want to do the opposite of that. I have 3 HD's and the 1st drive is all OSX but the other 2 HD's are for windows. I currently have both windows partitions working fine, now I want take both of those drives and set up a RAID 0 for Windows? would I have to create my own windows install cd and preload the Intel raid files from http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2308& OSFullName=AllOperatingSystems&lang=eng&strOSs=All&submit=Go%21.
I theory i think this would work because you have 2 open drives and the preloaded raid drivers during windows install. Has anyone had any luck?

I use RAID for non-Vista boot drive. I have Vista on 10K Raptor.
And I have pagefile and other temp files and downloads on 2nd Raptor.
Two drives for data in RAID. And external RAID.
But Vista needs to have NTFS non-RAID for its Complete PC Backup.
Not sure if Mac Pro can be tricked into installing or cloning to RAID.
Norton Ghost seems to work best (True Image 11 won't).
And getting into the EFI BIOS isn't an option probably.

Error when generating Alter Record scripts with project PPLTLS84CUR

I am trying to install HR89 + PT849 on REL5.4 + Oracle 10g manually under the guideline of official document: PeopleTools 8.49 Installation for Oracle.pdf
After Database creation, need to upgrade Peopletools from the delivered version 8.46 to 8.49
In page 570, Task B-15-6: Alter PeopleTools Tables, need to generate build scripts from project PPLTLS84CUR and then run the scripts from SQLPLUS side.
Bu when generating the scripts with user PS/PS, the App Designer got error message as following:

not only this record but also many others.
In client PC which running app designer, the memory is enough for app designer, 1G free. Really hard to understand such error.

client pc is running on windows 7 and UAC is already disabled.
current user running app designer is belong to Administrator group, hence, this may be a client security problem.
I search on oracle website and found a page said this maybe a bug and be fixed from 8.49.11, this is why it is working on 8.49.13, and the wordaround solution is use non-vista pc, such as windows xp. :)

WRT54G Web-utility Issues

First of all...I'm using a Linksys WRT54G v5 wireless router and a sbc/yahoo DSL service with a Siemen's 4100 DSL modem. I am addressing all of my issues using a Dell XPS710 fully loaded running Windows Vista and using IE 7.0.6 I've always been able to use the internet (besides DSL's inevitable issues), but in the last few days have been messing with the settings of my network in order to streamline our filesharing/printersharing within my household.
So I tried checking out the 'General Linksys Router FAQs' but when I clicked the links regarding my problem, it only loaded windows addressing how to set up a "PPPOE DSL service."
So my issue is in regard to accessing the Web-based utility. When I key in my router's IP address to my web browser (http://192.168.1.1/) and type in the generic password, then it loads the web-utility with obvious 'errors on page.' I then cannot do anything more than change the time zone...I cannot chose a different tab than the "Setup Basic Startup" tab which loads automatically.
When I click on the "wireless" tab for example, a white page loads with this gibberish:

I can then return to the previous page on my browser to see the Setup screen again, but there are still obvious visual errors in how the page loaded (it has some of those stupid 'red x's' where images were supposed to load).
So I tried updating the the firmware (its still 1.00.6) using the instructions I found for my router on the linksys website...but halfway during the upload of the .bin file from the management screen, the page failed to load and I recieved the "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" message. Since then, my connection has been cutting in and out (Local only) and sometimes I cannot view that the WRT54G is part of my network. Connecting to the internet directly through my DSL modem works just fine still.
So why can't I access my web-utility correctly? Why can I not upgrade my firmware? Would upgrading the firmware fix the web-utility access errors? Why is the connection cutting 'in and out' rather than just not working? Has ANYONE else had this problem (with the web-based utility not loading correctly in IE)?

I fixed it! I had to 'reset' the modem for that minute and then upload the firmware from a non-vista pc. The web browser gave me the 'upload successful' page and so I restarted the computer and unplugged and replugged back in the router...then when the computer rebooted and I loaded the Linksys Router Web-Utility...viola...it no longer contained those ridiculous error screens or jibberish.
And here I though I was gonna have to drop another 50 bucks...
