10.2.0.3 Patch for solaris SPARC

Hi All,
We have 10.2.0.1 database running on Solaris Sparc. We are planning to upgrade to 10.2.0.3 directly instead of upgrading to 10.2.0.2
Do we have the patch 10.2.0.3 ready to dowload from the metalink..
If so please give me the patch number..
Thanks In Advance for the reply ASAP

Have not seen any fixed dates regarding the release of the 10.2.0.3 patchset. Searching Metalink showed some forum answers that suggest sometime in December 2006.

  • Last kernel patch for Solaris 10 x86 screwed up my kernel

    Hi,
The last kernel patch for Solaris 10 x86 (sorry I cant remember the patch id, but the revision is 30), available from Sun Update Manager screwed up my system.
The system is still booting but in maintenance mode: smf can't start because of repository corrupted. Given instructions to restore the repository does not work because / filesystem is mounted read-only...
As I am not a solaris expert, I will reinstall it from CD. I hope I won't loose the filesystem.
I was used to blindly trust Sun solaris patches, that was a mistake.

  • OEM 12c for solaris (sparc) disk2 download failed

I am trying to download OEM 12c for solaris (sparc) from below link but disk 2 download failed after 80% with a error saying connection to server closed. I tried it couple of times with different browsers even from different machine but still same error. Disk 1 downloaded successfully but disk2 always failed right at 80% after 2.4 GB downloaded. It makes me belive that it is a problem related to source file or server. Anyone has similar experience and know how to get it solved?
    Appriciate for your help.

I can't download it either, and nor can any of my colleagues, using any browser. I am in UK, I suspect there's an issue with the Oracle mirrors, and that if you are downloading from US it probably works fine. Can someone from Oracle investigate this please?
We consistently get the same result: the downloaded file is: 2,732,571,489 bytes, rather than 3,430,333,041 bytes. It will not unzip as it is not a valid archive, error message:

latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on

However, this error message is caused by an invalid / incomplete zip file.
I have also tried Oracle Edelivery site with same result.

  • Smpatch and Recommended Patches for Solaris 10

    Hi,
Is there any way to make smpatch only retrieve recommended patches for Solaris 10 ?
I've seen several forum posts saying to use
    smpatch set patchpro.patchset=recommended
but other posters indicate that this only works for Solaris 9 (additionally, it doesn't seem to work at all currently:
Failure: Cannot connect to retrieve recommended.zip: Not Found )
As far as I'm aware, Sun's patching policy is to apply the Recommended patches, as well as any that address specific issues you are having. This seems to contrast with the behaviour of smpatch which grabs all patches..

    Hi.
Depending on your hardware, you can use the following in place of 'current' in patchpro.patchset to get recommended patches:
    sunu45 = Sun Ultra45/Ultra25 Recommended
sftxk = Sun Fire T1000/T2000 Recommended
    sfv2x5 = Sun Fire V215/245 Recommended
    sfv445 = Sun Fire V445 Recommended

How to install Oracle software remotely?
Remote Software Installation Steps: (For Solaris only)
If you want to install Oracle Software remotely, you should perform the following steps. These steps are applicable only if your source and target machine are running Unix.
For example, you can install Oracle Software from your home from Washington, DC to a target source in California.
    1. Pick your source server or machine for remote installation.
    2. Check that your CD is in your source CD-ROM drive.
    3. On the target machine, find your target machine name with the output of the /usr/bin/hostname
    4. On the source machine, login as a user.
    5. On the source machine, enable client access: % /usr/openwin/bin/xhost + target-machine-name
    6. Become root user by typing: su (don’t use -)
    7. Check that Volume Manger is running. # ps –ef |grep vold (if you see an entry that contains /usr/sbin/vold, Volume Manager is running. Then skip to Step 10.
    8. If not then do the following: # mkdir –p /cdrom/your-cd-file-name
    9. # mount –F hsfs –r cdrom-device /cdrom/your-cd-file-name
    10. Add the following line to your /etc/dfs/dfstab file: # share –F nfs –o ro /cdrom/your-cd-file-name
    11. Verify whether your source machine is an NFS server: # ps –ef | grep nfsd
    12. If you see an entry that contains /use/lib/nfs/nfsd –a 16, then nfsd is running and skip to Step 16.
    13. If nfsd is running, then type: # /usr/sbin/shareall
    14. If nfsd is not running, then start nfsd by typing: # /etc/init.d/nfs.server start
    15. Verify whether your source machine is an NFS server again by typing: # ps –ef | grep nfsd
    16. Make sure your source machine is exporting your product directory by typing: # /usr/sbin/dfshares
    17. Now, log in to the target machine by type: # rlogin target-machine-name –l user (not root)
    18. Then log in as the root user by typing: # su
    19. Go to the source machine by typing: # cd /net/source-machine/cdrom/your-cd-file-name ,then Skip to 24.
    20. If you cannot change to that directory in Step 19 and you do not have an auto-mounter on your network, then create amount point by typing the following commands.
    21. # mkdir /remote_products
    22. # /usr/sbin/mount –F nfs –r source-machine:/cdrom/your-cd-file-name /remote_products
    23. # cd /remote_products
    24. Redirect the target machine display to source machine by typing: # DISPLAY=source-machine:0; export DISPLAY (if you use a Bourne or Korn shell).
    25. Start the Web Start Installer by typing: # ./installer (or whatever the installer name program is).

  • [Answered] List of patches for Solaris 10 SPARC 64 bit!

    Hi All,
Installation document for 10g Release 2 (10.2) for Solaris Operating System (SPARC 64-Bit) does not mention anything about patches required on Solaris 10 (there is a list for Solaris 8 and 9).
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/install.102/b15690/pre_install.htm#sthref110
Can I safely assume that the installation of Solaris 10 contains all the required patches in this case?
    Thanks,
Edited by: Satish Kandi on Nov 19, 2008 10:21 AM

    Hi Satish,
I did not have access to ORACLE metalink so could not able check the doc which you reffered. But Checked the ORACLE installation doc, I suppose that is the required patches for 8 and 9 which you have to make sure of on Solaris 10.
Other wise wait and see for other inputs too.
Hemanth might reply back some thing.

Oracle Instant Client was a "feature" introduced with Oracle 10g. There is no 9i version.
Code that links with Oracle 9i libraries should be able to be linked with Instant Client 10gR2.
The resulting application will be able to connect to databases from Oracle 8.1 onwards.

  • Where do I download Oracle ESB 10.1.3.4 for solaris sparc?

    Hi,
Where can I download Oracle SOA Suite ESB 10.1.3.4(only ESB, BPEL is not required).
I could find the following link:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/products/ias/htdocs/101310.html
which has Oracle Enterprise Bus 10g (10.1.3.1.0). What is the patch number for upgrading this to 10.1.3.4?
I believe we get latest Oracle Apps and database adapters out of box with ESB 10.1.3.4. If not please suggest me where I can get these.
Also I need an SAP adapter which is not given by default with ESB 10.1.3.4. Please suggest me where I can download this from and how I install it.
Please give me the links for downloading
    Oracle SOA ESB
    version - 10.1.3.4
    Operating system: Solaris Sparc
Adapters: SAP, Oracle Apps and database.
    Thanks.

    Thanks Marc.
I was not able to find the patch on metalink. Could you please give me the patch number specific to only ESB 10.1.3.4 if you have.
I have the 10.1.3.4 patch number(7272722) for the complete SOA suite.
Also please comment on adapters part.
    Thnaks.

  • When will 11.1.0.7 will be available for Solaris (SPARC) (32-bit)?

    Hi
Does any of you know when 11.1.0.7 for "Solaris Operating System (SPARC) (32-bit)" will be available for download on http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/oci/instantclient/index.html ?
The reason for my question is that 11.1.0.6 contains a bug (at least on Solaris) causing it to reserve approx 180M swap for each client started!
    Regards
    Mads

    Just became available on http://www.oracle.com/technology/software/tech/oci/instantclient/htdocs/solsoft.html

  • Tripwire for Solaris SPARC

Has anyone ported a recent version of tripwire to Solaris SPARC? A quick attempt at the makefiles indicates it's not ready for anything but Intel boxes (Linux and Solaris). We've looked at aide, but it doesn't seem as security since the configuration flies aren't encrypted.
    Thanks!

Most commands are identical. Performance analysis, loading all are similar. Tape interaction, creation of tape devices is going to be pretty much the same.
The differences show up a lot at the hardware level. HBAs aren't usually the same, many drivers (and their quirks) are different between the architectures. If you're debugging connectivity to a tape library, those differences may be critical.
So you can't get as close as you may want, but I'll bet it would still be helpful.

  • Java 1.8.0_31 for Solaris Sparc missing Firefox plugin

Until now I didn't realize that Oracle planned to deprecate (Oracle) Solaris in favor of Linux.
Since updates to Java 7 will be ending in April 2015, I thought it would be a good idea to migrate to Java 8.  I installed Java 1.8.0_31 on our Solaris 10 server and then tried to configure the Java plugin for Firefox.  Low and behold!  It is no longer supplied with the Java installation.  Apparently, when Oracle removed 32-bit support for java in Solaris, they removed Java Web Start (javaws.jar) and the Firefox plugin (libnpjp2.so) with it.  As I searched the web in vain for a solution, I recall that additional java functionality has been removed from the Java 8 build for Solaris as well, but I can't recall what they are right now.
Of course, Linux remains fully supported!!  Too bad we invested in an all-Oracle solution for our aging Oracle Forms applications.  I guess now we need to stay on Java 7 until we can migrate off the high performance (Oracle) Solaris dinosaur to a better supported Linux platform.  Thanks Oracle for providing no risk solutions.
I've submitted a ticket to Oracle Support regarding how to get past this issue, but I thought I'd throw it out here too:
How can I run a java app (like Oracle Forms) using Firefox on Solaris without a Java plugin?

Obviously Sun (excuse me, Oracle) does not intend to support the solaris-10/sparc/firefox-3.6 combination. Firefox 3.6 requires the NPAPI and/or NPRuntime interfaces to java, but oracle does not provide the new "libnpjp2.so" java plugin with the jre-6u18-sparc-solaris java download.
A search at www.oracle.com does not turn up any support announcement about this. You have to learn it the hard way. :(
If you want to continue to use sparc-solaris, downgrade to firefox-3.5 so you can use the old libjavaplugin_oji.so module. Otherwise run Linux or Mac OS X to stay in the unix camp.

  • Acrobat 9.1 for Solaris Sparc

    Hi,
Have to start with, thanks for the 9.1 on Solaris x86 port, much needed since we where using version 4 which started to become old...
But, we are still very much on Solaris Sparc, when is 9.1 planned to be be released since I would like to have the same version on both platforms.
    once again, thanks for 9.1
    Michael

    Hello Michael/Karl,
In 9.1, there is no SPARC release, only x86.
The latest SPARC compatible Adobe Reader version is 8.l.4
We will keep you posted if any more developments arise.

  • OEPE Install for Solaris Sparc 64 bit

    Hello Experts,
OEPE (Oracle Enterprise Plug-in for Eclipse) issue....
We have installed the below @ Sun Solaris 10, Sparc 64 Bit.
    Web Logic 10.3.6
    SOA 11.1.1.6.0
    AIA 11.1.1.6.0
trying to install OSB (Oracle Service Bus) and it asks about the OEPE Install location and gave an error.
INST-07246 -- Enter a Valid value for OEPE Home location..
We have NOT installed OEPE, because it is NOT available for the version and the platform we have.
The OTN doc says as below:
Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 (10.3.6) + Coherence - Package Installer Size: .99 GB, Check Sum: 3179053739
This download provides a WebLogic Server generic installer. This installer does not include a JVM/JDK or Oracle Enterprise Plug-in for Eclipse, these must be installed separately.
    Question(s):
    1) Where can I get the OEPE for Solaris 64 bit and SOA 11.1.1.6.0?
    2) Any other workaround for the OSB install issue??
    Thanks a lot
    Rgds
    Natrajan

    Hi Natrajan,
I don't think there is a Oracle packaged OEPE for Solaris 64... There is a Linux 64 though, but I don't think that is what you looking for...
Here you can see the available packages
    http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/developer-tools/eclipse/downloads/index.html
What you can do is to install Eclipse for Solaris... and then go to the link above and download a package "OEPE Plugins Only" and apply the plugins to your Eclipse
    http://archive.eclipse.org/eclipse/downloads/drops/R-3.6-201006080911/solPlatform.php
