10.2.1.2102 lockup issue

Loaded the OS update on my Z10.
Battery life is back to what I call normal.
Problem however:
HUB has now locked up for the 2nd time.
Access HUB
Messages are displayed, but tapping on a message does not open it. Not text, not BBM, not email.
I can scroll up and down, just can't open anything.
Access BBM directly
Contacts are shown, but again, I can't open any of them to get to a conversation
Access text messages directly.
conversations are shown, but I cannot open anything.
Restart the device:
All working again.
Also, a bunch of emails and texts came in just after the restart, so I suspect the device was actually not receiving anything while it was in the above state.

I've had this issue in other OS updates but not in the one you're currently running. I would click an item to open it then the screen would dim for about 5-10 seconds before brightening up again but not opening the desired item.
Try resetting your Hub. Go to your Hub then swipe down diagonally from the top right corner of your screen to the middle of your screen four times in a row. This will reset your Hub and will hopefully resolve your issue.
Keep us up to date on your progress.
- If my response has helped you, please click "Options" beside my post and mark it as solved. Clicking the "thumbs up" icon near the bottom of my response would also be appreciated.

  • Photosmart C309a LOCKUP issues

I love love love our HP Photosmart Premium C309a WHEN IT WORKS.  It locks up all the time after printing, or scanning, or just after hours of doing nothing.  We leave it on during the day bc of the fax and turn it off at night.  It also intermittently bellows a fax-sounding ring for about 12 seconds straight when no one is even in the room or on the pc nor is a fax coming through when it happens.  I've contacted HP and they helped me reboot it w/the #3 and #6 and it still kept locking up so they shipped me a new one and now the 2nd one is doing it too.  We've tried different power outlest in case it was dirty power or power strip overload and same lockup issues no matter what.  We've also paid $200 for an expert to check our desktop, printer, isp settings and nothing appears to be a problem.  Before I call HP again, is anyone else experiencing this?  I love it's functionality and output but shouldn't have to be rebooting every time I need  to use it!

Having the same problem !  Should I take it back before my time to return it expires?  I like the printer, but I have no intention of missing faxes during the day because the silly thing is locked up.  Please advise me how you have handled it.  Has there been a fix?  The only advice I have found so far is to turn off the Bluetooth radio when not in use.  Anyone tried it?  I will let you know if it works for me.  My experience with Bluetooth leads me to think this could certainly be the problem because of the connection issues I experience with my phone and hands-free devices.  We'll see...

  • Multiple T61p lockup issues

If my ThinkPad T61p is sleeping and I re-dock it, 75% of the time, it will turn off. Only way to fix is to remove battery and re-install. Sometimes all I have to do is just press the power button on the docking station and it will actually turn on. But many times, it requires the battery removal.  Other users also have the same issue.  Is this a known issue and is there a fix for it? I have tried a BIOS update but it didn't solve the issue.
    Thanks,
    Brent

We had this problem with the older docks ... If you have one with little  metal contacts Lenovo will give you rubber shoes to go over them and it fixes this.
Newer Docks have plastic litlle contacts.

  • SPA-2102 Setup issues

    Hi all,
I bought the above linksys device and have been trying to set it up with Voipbuster. My current setup is
Thomson 585 (locked by ISP O2) -> Lan port 3 on Thomson has the SPA-2102 connected to it.
I get no dial tone at all, but when going on the setup page on the 2102 it says registered against Line 1 for Voipbuster.
I have forwarded port 5060 from the router for the 2102.
Any ideas what to check? I'm completely lost with the amount of config options presented to me by the 2102
    Many thanks

    Hi,
the phone I'm currently using is a DECT phone cordless. Cable used has all 4 cables in the plug. I tried with a cable that only has the 2 middle ones and there was nothing, not even noise.
I'm surprised you say that the 2102 only uses the 2 wires in the plug as I can see that it has 4 "pins" in the plug on the device.
Also I do get a response from the IVR with the current cable, just no dial tone and only noise/echoing

  • MSI NEO-FISR2 875 lockup issues

I've just built a new system on the MSI NEO FISR2 875P motherboard.  Here are the specs:
    2.8GHz Intel Pentium 4
    2x512MB Kingston 434mhz HyperX modules
    2x120GB Seagate SATA drives
    1x200GB Western Digital drive
    Plextor DVD-RW
    Creative 6x DVD-ROM
    SoundBlaster Audigy2 Platinum
    ATI Radeon 9700 Pro
The system seems rock solid, until I run any kind of game, at which point the system will lock up within 10 minutes (usually much less) of play.  I've tried the following:
Cooling: I have five case fans, a processor fan, a power supply fan, and a video card fan.  This ATI card was in my last system as well (Athlon 1.4ghz, 512MB RAM), and would lock up only if the case was closed; I concluded that it was a heat problem.  However, this lockup occurs no matter if the case is open or closed, and due to the case fan on the side, I imagine it's cooler if the case is closed anyway.
Disabling sound: I've disabled the Audigy2 in the hardware manager, and got the same problem.
Underclocking the video card: I underclocked the ATI basically as far as it would go; same problem.
Updating drivers: I have the latest BIOS (I guess I should consider myself lucky considering the amount of unsuccessful BIOS flashers in this forum), sound drivers, video drivers, DirectX (9.0a), chipset drivers, and HDD controller drivers.
I guess when I get home today I'm going to try swapping out the ATI in exchange for an old Geforce2 GTS.  Even if it does "fix" the problem, though, I'm concerned that it may not be the video card; MSI's "stealth" overclocking whenever the system gets taxed might be stressing the AGP bus to the point where the ATI can't handle it and the Geforce2 can.
Is there something I'm missing?  Any way to disable this ridiculous "technology" that MSI has implemented?  Do you think I could convince them this is a reason for an RMA?
    *sigh*
    -Paul

Ah yes.  Sorry I didn't mention that.  It's an Antec TruePower 430W power supply.
It might also be worth mentioning that after one of the aforementioned game crashes:
    - I'm pretty sure things crash back to the desktop, but the display is so corrupted that I cannot be sure; the system seems to respond somewhat to keyboard events.
    - Most of the time, after the crash, if I press the ATX power switch, the system will shutdown properly (or as far as I can tell; the shutdown sound plays and the system turns off, but the display remains corrupted so I don't really know).
    - After such a crash, when I power back on, the CMOS has been cleared.
    - After such a crash, sometimes, the ICH5R fails to detect one or both SATA drives, but when ctrl-alt-deleted, everything's fine (I replaced both serial ATA and serial ATA power cables).
    - After such a crash, sometimes, the system boots such that both monitors are displaying the same thing, and I have to manually select "Extend my windows desktop" onto the second monitor, change its resolution, and *reboot* (which is odd; I can change this without a reboot if the system did not just crash) before the settings are applied.
    Any ideas appreciated.

  • Sata Drive lockup Issue K8N Neo Platinum

Issue started with Bios update to 1.8.   Stable system for the previous 10 months until Bios update, now appears I have all kinds of failing hardware(although I'll explain why I don't).   After finally flashing back to 1.7 and reloading operating system, fighiting with sata drives, network card connection, mouse, and USB connections - I am out of ideas.   My latest problem is I have 2 WD raptor 74GIG hardrives, which I can't run at the same time.   No raid configuration, running on Sata 3 and 4(yes tried 1 and 2).   Anytime I write or access drive 2(d) my computer locks up.   If I change the drives around and load operating system on other drive, still have same issue only 1 drive works at a time.   Not a hardware issue with the drives(maybe motherboard?)  Running AMD 64 3400, K8N Neo Platinum Board with 1 gig corsair recommended memory, 6800 GT Nvidia card, soundblaster audigy.   Bios set to defaults, XP professional SP2.   Anyone seen had this issue that can recommend what to do from here?

I have had similar BIOS issues This Thread. I believe that flashing back to 1.5 will help you, then try 1.6, I have tried going back to 1.7 after 1.8 and 1.9 and continued to have problems, so for me going back to 1.5 has been the best so far. Good Luck.

  • RS480M2-IL and 6600GT pciE lockup issue, please help....

I have an MSI RS480M2-IL motherboard and an eVGA 6600gt  pciE video card and some major problems.
    System Specs:
    eVGA 6600gt  pciE 128mb
2 WD 320GB SATA drives (not in raid)
    Chaintech 7.1 pci sound card
    A64  3000   939pin  with Artic Cooling Freezer64 cooler
Forton Source 450W psu (atx 2.0 with more than enough amps and watts)
    512MB corsair value 3200
    512MB mushkin decent memory
    Problem:
Whenever I play games (battlefield2, gun etc) the system always crashes within 1 hour
The temperatures never get high, in fact the cpu temp is only a little above idle after gaming for 45 minutes, and the GPU never exceedes 60 degrees
    What will happen is this:
The game will be running fine, 40+ fps no lags or anything, then all of the sudden it will freeze and a few seconds of sound will repeat themselves. Sometimes the game comes back within about 20 seconds, but sometimes it does not and the system resets itself. I can sometimes alt+tab back to windows and force quit the game through task manager. When I do this I get an error message telling me that nvdisp driver has quit working and to reset.
    I have tried:
    Using onboard sound (no difference)
Taking out one stick of memory (no difference except this creates lag in games)
Many different set of geforce drivers (they all have the same problem)
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I know from reading the BF2 forums you are not alone.  A lot of people started having probs around the 31 of Oct, apparently after a PB update was pushed out via BF2 server logon.  I was having some probs and tried updating all my drivers and BIOS which is how I found myself here.  I coud not get my video card to work (ATI 9800 Pro)at all after flashing to 9.2, but after changing a few settings I at least have my video card back.  I have not tried BF2 yet, that seems to be the overall test of any component.  I am not suggesting you flash your BIOS by any means (more trouble that it may be worth), but your problem may be with PB, at least that is what the conspiracy threorists will preach.
check this and see what happens...https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=89456.0, it helped me
On the forums for BF2, I think at totalBF2.com, there were some potential fixes, but I have not tried any yet as I wiped my system to begin to unscrewing what I had done already.
Good luck and let us know what happens....

  • Lockups on new system! Help!!!

I'm at the end of my rope!
I just built a new system, and I'm having a lot of lockup issues any time I play a game or anything that requires a lot from the graphics accelerator.  I can't even get into a game more than 30 seconds without it locking.  Here's my system specs (all components brand new):
    MSI Neo4 Platinum SLI
    AMD 64 3200
    MSI 6600 GT 128mb PCIe
    Croshair 1G (2x512mb) PC3200
    Enermax Noisetaker 470W psu
    WD 80GB SATA hard drive
    Windows XP Pro
I've tried running the sytem with the drivers that came with the components, and I've also tried running the latest and greatest of all drivers.
I've checked to make sure all components are seated properly, and that all fans and so forth are working.  I've also ensured that the two mem sticks are in the right slots (both "green" on this motherboard).
Since everything is new, everything is a fresh install.
The lock up occurs on every game I try to run that utilizes the 6600 GT, including UT2004, Star Wars:  Republic Commando, and HL2.  In every situation, it locks my pc within about 30 seconds, and I have to shut down the pc and reboot.
My best guess is the power supply.  When I ordered the psu, I THOUGHT this particular one had a 24 pin main connection.  It does not.  I went out and bought a 20pin to 24pin adaptor.  However, after reading in another thread that the last four pins power the PCIe slot, I'm wondering if the motherboard just isn't getting enough power to the video card even with the adaptor.
Here's the specs for the psu:
    Code: [Select]
Model No. DC Output (Maximum Current) Total Power
      +3.3V +5V +12V1 +12V2 -12V +5Vsb
    EG475P-VE SFMA 34A 40A 16A 15A 0.8A 2.5A 470W
      280W
Does anyone have any suggestions?  Is the psu the problem, or could it be something else?  I would really like some help on this.  I've been working on this issue for 3 days now, and I'm about to return all the components and scrap the whole thing.

Hi, I have the same spec as you on my newly built pc (except I have an ATI x850) and i am also having the exact same problem.
My question to everyone is if i try this solution will everything be ok? This is my first custom build, and just like the topic starter, i swear it said in the manual that the sticks of ram must be in the same coloured slot. I don't want to blow anything to bits!
So I just want to make sure everything is ok before i tinker any more with it. This problem is really getting to me as I cannot play any of the kick ass games I bought especially for this new pc.
    THanks for the advice guys.

  • Random lockups on X-Fi Driver L

I'm writing this to ask help for a problem that has appeared since my recent upgrade. I had an X-Fi Fatalty on a Socket A Athlon XP 3000+ system which worked perfectly. However since i upgraded to core 2 duo e6600 with motherboard Gigabyte DS4 i have random lockup issues when starting windows. To be more specific, windows would lockup at random times when loading creative volume control at startup. i can still move the mouse but thats it. I have checked for irq conflict and it seems there is none, X-Fi is assigned irq 20 and its the only thing on that irq. i have flashed my motherboard to the latest bios from gigabyte which seems to fix the x-fi redetection problems for this motherboard, but i still have this lockup issue. windows just freezes randomly at startups when loading the x-fi volume control panel. if it doesnt freeze (i am lucky) and it does load it then there is no problem, the xfi works perfectly. I would appreciate it if somebody could help me. thank you.
PS I have changed pci slots, this doesnt fix the problem
PS2: I am not Ocing, i am using latest drivers for everything i have spend 3 days to find a solution so iam saying i have checked a lot of things Message Edited by iceblade on 0-26-2006 04:2 PM

  • OCZ2GB8004GK issue with MSI K9A2 CF

I am having lockup issues in Win7 64bit.
I have done PC-Check 6.21 and all 4 chips fail on Microtopology Test.
I have done Memtest86+ and failed on that also.
I have 2 sets of this memory. Seems if I run 1 set all is ok but when I put both sets in I randomly get Blue Screen dump and reboot. I have tried all combos with the slots and chips.
I am reading conflicting info. My MB supports 1.8v according to the manual. I picked these chips because they state 1.8v. But in forums and places I am seeing that they might need 2.1v?????????? or that 1.8v might be ok for 1 set (2 chips) but not for 2 sets (4 chips)????
All 4 tested fine with Memtest and PCCheck when single Installed.
Here is an atempt at a Test table for you.
    CS1 = Chipset 1
    CS2 = Chipset 2
    DC1 = Dimm Channel 1
DC2 = Dimm Channel 2 or Socket if you prefer.
    CS1 in DC1 = Tests Fine
    CS1 in DC2 = Tests Fine
    CS2 in DC1 = Tests Fine
    CS2 in DC2 = Tests Fine
    but
    CS1 and CS2 in DC1 and DC2 = Test Fails everytime.
    CS2 and CS1 in DC1 and DC2 ( fliped ) = Test Fails everytime.
I Mixed them up and Fails.
Seems anytime all 4 chips installed it fails.
Now I had 2 other PC-6400 1G chips that I was using before these. I can put 1 set of OCZ in and then the other 2 1Gs and tests fine and works fine.
    Any thoughts.
HELP... if this is not going to work simply I am needing to return these to the seller ASAP.
    Thanks

Do >>Clear CMOS Guide<< with power cord removed.
    Leave memory timings to Auto.
Make sure that 2T is used [Check it with CPU-Z]
If problem persist, apply memory voltage recommended by OCZ for your memory sticks in BIOS Setup.
    Re-test

  • Please help! Major problems (performance and lock-ups) with brand new W520 with Intel 520 SSD

My company primarily uses HP machines but I've been a long time IBM (now Lenovo) fan so I recently had IT purchase me a new Lenovo W520 (product ID 42763LU).
Once the machine arrived I had them do the following:
Remove the 500GB HDD and replace it with an Intel 520 series 240GB SSD
Remove the optical drive and install the 500GB hard drive that came with the machine in the optical bay (with the bay adapter of course)
Format both drives and put a preconfigured windows 7 64-bit image on the SSD
A general summary of the system is the following:
    Intel i7-2860QM CPU
    8GB RAM
    NVIDIA Quadro 1000M
    Intel 520 240GB SSD (primary HDD) [SSDSC2CW240A3]
Hitachi 500GB HDD (optical bay) [HTS727550A9E365]
    Intel Advanced-N 6205 network adapter
    TouchChip Fingerprint Scanner
The machine was a few days delayed getting to me due to "hard drive driver issues" (that's what I was told). When I received the machine I immediately noticed that it was much slower than I expected (I have a custom built i5 HTPC at home running windows 7 on a Crucial SATA III SSD that I was comparing it to) and I was experiencing frequent hangs (ranging from 30 seconds to multiple minutes), super long boot times, general “slowness” at times, and occasional lock-ups. Since our "baseline" laptop here at work is the "equivalent" HP workstation my IT guys have been less than helpful in helping me to solve this issue. Being reasonably computer savvy I decided to try to try to fix the issue myself. I performed the following “troubleshooting” steps:
    1. One of the first issues (errors) I noticed in the event viewer was errors related to the optical drive. Clearly the image they installed on the machine was not from a machine with the same hardware configuration. So, I decided to just wipe the machine and perform a fresh install of windows 7 from the disks (well, USB). After spending multiple days installing windows, performing updates, making sure all the drivers were current, and installing only the critical software I need, I was disappointed to realize that although I fixed the optical drive errors the machine was still slow, was hanging, and locking up regularly.
    2. Removed the cover on the machine and removed/reinstalled the drive to verify it was secure.Everything looked good.
    3. Verified the latest firmware is installed on all my Intel hardware. Everything seemed up to date.
    4. I performed a number of troubleshooting steps like booting the machine with/without the battery, with/without the HDD in the optical bay, installed/removed from the docking station, etc. and none of these things helped (also a note – occasionally when running on the battery I was hearing a strange “buzz” or “static” sound coming from the area around the SSD).
    5. Next I did some internet research and learned quite a few things. First, it sounds like others have had similar problems with this machine and/or SSD combo and there were quite a few options suggested to “fix” these issues. The general consensus for troubleshooting steps were:
5.1. Download and install the latest Intel chipset drivers and AHCI controller drivers (overwriting whatever windows installs during updates). This didn’t fix anything.
5.2. Turn off PCI express link state power management in the power manager. This didn’t fix anything.
5.3. Disable superfetch, prefetch, indexing, defragmentation, page file, system restore, and hibernate. A few of these were already disabled by windows so in those cases I just verified they were disabled in the services and application editor. These things may have slightly increased performance but did not fix the major hang/lockup issues I was having.
5.4. I followed online steps to edit the registry to disable the PCI link power management by adding ports, adding the required variables, and setting them all to 0. This did seem to have fixed the hangs and/or lock-ups but the machine is still much slower than I would expect (boot times are still pretty slow and it does “stutter” when I’m doing more than one thing at a time. Also a note here – I have the Intel SSD toolbox installed and I noticed that it was giving me a warning for DIPM not being optimized. I made the mistake of clicking “Tune!” and then started having the hang/lock-up issues again. I went back into the registry and sure enough the PCI link power management variables for ports 0 and 1 were set back to 1. I set them back to 0 and the hangs have gone away. I will not be “tuning” the DIPM through the Intel SSD toolbox again…
    6. I also fixed a couple of other minor errors I was seeing in the event viewer by disabling benign services and/or making slight timeout modifications (I researched each issue on the internet to verify they were benign before I implemented any changes). These fixes didn't seem to do anything other than make some of the errors/warnings go away. So, the list of errors/warnings has become much smaller but I’m still getting the following (maybe an issue, maybe not?):
Event ID 37 for every processor saying that they are in a reduced performance state for xx seconds since the last report
Event ID 10002 - WLAN Extensibility Module has stopped
Event ID 4001 - WLAN AutoConfig service has successfully stopped
Event ID 27 – Intel® 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection link is disconnected
I suspect the WLAN errors have something to do with windows fighting with the Lenovo access connection tools?
    7. Since the machine still seemed slow I downloaded the program AS SSD and checked the performance of the SSD. When I compared my performance numbers to the benchmark numbers I found onlineI was very surprised to discover that I’m getting about 50% of the performance that I should (values below are read/write).
    Seq: 262.11 / 188.32 (s/b 504.58 / 298.28) [MB/s]
    4K: 15.83 / 44.92 (s/b 21.70 / 62.60) [MB/s]
    4K-64Thrd: 165.23 / 154.46 (s/b 241.38 / 234.08) [MB/s]
    Acc.time: 0.218 / 0.294 (s/b .0186 / 0.208) [ms]
    Score: 207 / 208 (s/b 314 / 327)
    Overall Score: 533 (s/b 797)
One more note - it seems like my cooling fan is running at a high speed almost all of the time. This is probably one of my power settings (I think I have it set for max performance) but it's even doing this when there is no load (i.e. I'm using IE and just vieweing webpages - like right now).
So, I apologize for such a long post but I’ve spent countless hours researching and troubleshooting this problem and haven’t been able to figure out what the heck is wrong here. Am I missing something simple or do you guys think I have a SSD and/or problem with the machine itself? To say that any and all help would be greatly appreciated would be a massive understatement – I’m on the verge of pulling my hair out and I really need this machine working as quickly as possible!
Please let me know if you have any suggestions and/or need additional information. Thanks in advance for your help!
    -Erik

Lol gotcha about the drive as an option. I didn't go SSD with mine. Do you have the latest firmware on your drive? It is supposed to be v1.97. Just checking (ah and I see item 3 so guess so). Do you have the SSD drive toolbox software installed?
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Solid+State+Drives+and+Cach...)
Seems some useful tools are in there. I can't say much beyond that with the drive. Oh. Why does your fan always run at high speed? Can you describe that?  I mean, are we troubleshooting the right kind of issue? Is there anything else going on with your system? I saw about the reduced core speeds message. what are your system loads like? Anything causing high cpu utilization? Could be something other than the drive causing your low numbers and lockups.

I own three IPad 32G 3G devices. Two have been updated to IOS 5.0. Both devices are experiencing frequent lockups followed by reboots. The lock ups are usually during videos and are associated with an odd sound shortly before reboot. I have yet to be able to watch a movie for longer than about 2 minutes before this occurs.
I am also experiencing similar lockup issues on my iPhone 4 after the upgrade. Also with video and "Words with Friends" crashes almost immediately upon boot too.
I have tried powering off the devices as well as killing the apps (if it doesn't crash and reboot on its own). This doesn't appear to resolve the issue.
Any resonable suggestion short of "reset it and start over" would be welcome.

  • Qosmio X505-Q870 Hard lock on startup

Approximately 1 out of 10 startups, I get a hard lockup while windows is loading. My machine is only about two weeks old. I've seen others with lockup issues with these models but only after startup. Anyone else having these issues?
I have no errors being reported on the computer that I know of.

No one else is having this problem? Guess I'm just lucky.

  • [SOLVED] Gnome 3.4 / GTK / Firefox freezes

For the past week or so, I've been having a problem with Gnome Shell and/or particular applications freezing for around 30 seconds to a minute at a time.
I can't quite pin down what the underlying problem is. It affects Firefox most obviously: any attempt to right click for context menu, or to use the back arrow on the task bar, causes Firefox to freeze. However, it is not restricted to Firefox: I've had similar freezes affecting other GTK apps (e.g. Gnome Terminal) or even the entire desktop. The problem is affecting all users. Occasionally I am also getting a "sad computer" black screen of death when logging in to a Gnome session, but I can't tell if that's related.
I've tried downgrading the kernel to linux-lts, but that makes no difference.
Basically this is rendering the computer almost unusable, or at least deeply painful and annoying to use.
System details (if any other information would be useful then please let me know):

    Well good for you
I've really been trying to make gnome shell a pleasant usable experience for myself, but I'm having these lockup issues frequently upon log in.  It may be due to the fact that I'm using fglrx graphics but I still don't think that should be an excuse.  I tried removing the extension and the correlation appeared to have less freezes - but I'm still in a bad position.

  • Windows 7 Crashes.. Boots and wants Adobe Update.

The last few [auto] updates from Adobe has caused a system lockup and sometimes blue-screens. I have updates disabled now, tiering down options from full-auto to "don't do anything".
I run Windows 7 64 Bit on an AMD quad-core, 8 gigs of memory, and 4x500GB striped array (300GB for system partition).
The sequence of events has been as follows:
1> System freezes then (maybe) blue-screens
    2> Reboot system
3> Once I logon Adobe would popup an update notification
My activities vary, but most often I am just watching video with VLC player.
Currently I do not have any auto-update selected, however, after updating Adobe Flash Player my system is not freezing [seemingly] randomly again.  The problem this time did not begin until Adobe's most recent update was posted; or as it would seem after going back through the past few weeks troubleshooting this "jack-in-the-box" problem.
It has been very consistent that over the past year system lockups have all pointed back to Adobe Flash needing an update, even if the updater is disabled. I would love to remove Flash at this point but unfortunately Seagate has put faith in it and is required to access my NAS.  I removed Adobe from my other system that was having the same issue and it has not frozen since (very disturbing when 2 desktop systems freeze almost simultaneously / problem begins on the same date when nothing has been changed on he system -- my other system is a video surveillance server and is on 24/7).
I have waited to post this for months until I was certain Flash needing an update was in fact the issue (basically it is to the point of ridiculously not fixed), so here I am. This lockup issue comes, Adobe is updated, and issue goes away.  Even more frustring that this happens while I am programming so losing work is never fun, especially due to something as mundane as an application update.
It strikes me as odd that the Installer/uninstaller (FlashUtil...) is running.... Why is the installer/uninstaller running if the updates have been disabled? (sigh)
So what's really going on here?

Can you post the details about the blue screens you are getting?
Also, what is your display adapter, device driver version & date?  See http://forums.adobe.com/thread/945765
Regarding the auto-updates, can you post the contents of your mms.cfg file in C:\WINDOWS\syswow64\Macromed\Flash
