10.2.8 Updgrade so I can use my iPod

Ok so this is it:
I have a eMac PowerPC G4, 800MHZ, running OS X 10.2.8. My goal is to install a I Tunes 7 so I can sync my iShuffle.
What is the basic OS X updgrade/update that I need to perform in order to do this?
Is TIGER my only way to my goal?
Thanks a million.

Mac OS X Versions 10.1, 10.2, 10.3, and 10.4, are complete system upgrades that must be purchased.
Once an OS has been installed, the point upgrades, such as 10.1.x to 10.1.5 (Final) 10.2.x to 10.2.8 (Final), 10.3.x to 10.3.9 (Final), and 10.4.x to 10.4.10 (Pending), can be downloaded for free.
Tiger is available for purchase at The Apple Store (U.S.).
Panther, is no longer available directly from the Apple Online Store, as Tiger 10.4.x is the most up to date OS.
If you know what to look for, a Full Retail Version, of the Panther Install CDs, or a Full Retail Version, of the Tiger Install DVD, can also be purchased rather inexpensively, at some online Apple retailers, Amazon, eBay, FastMac, etc.
Be sure not to purchase grey, upgrade or machine specific CDs or DVDs.
Panther is only on CDs, not DVDs.
Unless purchased from AppleRescue, (currently unavailable), the discs should look exactly like the images in the above links, and not say Upgrade, CPU Drop-in DVD, or "This software is part of a hardware bundle purchase - not to be sold seperately." on them.

Software Update, Upgrade: What's The Difference?
Once Panther 10.3.x is installed, you can use the 10.3.9 Combo Update, to upgrade to the final version.
Or as Kappy suggested, if your Mac meets the Tiger System Requirements, you could also consider installing that, and then use the PPC 10.4.10 Combo Update, to upgrade to the current version.
Additionally, "Tiger ships on a DVD, but if your Mac doesn’t have a built-in DVD-ROM player, you’ll need CD media. When you buy Mac OS X Tiger, you qualify to purchase Tiger CDs for only $9.95."
Download the Media Exchange Program Order Form Here. Note that the date on that form is June 22, 2007, but the program has been extended in the past.
I suggest that if you choose that option, call Apple 1-800-275-2273 and ask if that program is still available.
AppleRescue, also sells a Tiger installation set on CD.
However, their website is presently unavailable. And I have no information as to why, or if it will be reinstated.

    No.
    - If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
    iCloud: Find My iPhone
    - You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
    - If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
    - Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
    - There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.
    - Apple will do nothing without a court order

  • I have an order iPod classic (2007). I also have a Boise docking station. I can use the ipod with earphones

I have an order iPod classic (2007). I also have a Boise docking station. I can use the ipod with earphones or the computer however there is no sound when placed on the docking station. I don't believe it is the docking station as it is never moved, only I use it (older and single). Could it be a setting? Help

iPods, iPhones, and iPads aren't tied to one particular iTunes accout/Apple ID.  So there are no special instructions to follow to allow you to sync it with your newer account.  Simply sync it as you would your iPhone 4.

I'm not sure which version iPod you have, but I just checked my iPod nano (current generation) and it also has a Mono Audio setting in Settings>General>Accessibility.

Perhaps if you explained the issue, someone could help.

  • I fail to see how anyone can use 10 ipods

I fail to see how anyone can use 10 ipods from the billion download song contest winner thing. Think about it, other than selling them, what would apple have in mind for someone to do with 10 ipods?!

good point but if someone has a LOT of cd's in apple lossless or wav and also if they have a bunch of movies on their computer or music videos

If you can't obtain a retail install DVD from Apple, look on eBay or Google the installer part numbers to possibly find at an on-line store. Here's what to look for:

Caution - Leopard does not support classic mode. So, if you currently open OS 9 apps in classic mode, you won't be able to do this if you upgrade to Leopard.

    To whom it may concern:
I was charging my IPod and I received a message to update it.  Now I can't shut down or turn of my Ipod.  It has the ITunes Icon and the adapter plug on it.  It states I need to restore my IPod, but I could possibly lose all of my data.  I have spent a lot of time and money on itunes and games.  I really don't feel like going throught this again.  I was having problems in December with "The Tribez" game.
Could someone please tell me what to do to restart my IPod without losing all of my data.
    Thank you,
    Frances D. Hood

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Will there be any update so I can use my ipod shuffle 3rd generation with the new earpods?

Or I just have to throw my ipod away?! And expect to do the same with my other apple products in the future?!
If I bought this one is because it has features I like that new ones don't have, so they can't tell me to pick a new one!
THIS IS WHERE APPLE SATISFACTION POLICY SHOULD APPEAR.

If you purchased it within the last 14 days you can return it for a full refund and then purchase the 5G. Otherwise Apple will only give you a 10% recycling discount if you turn in an old iPod and purchase a new one.
Sounds like a cosmetic crack. That is not covered by the warranty. Neither is accidental damage. Al you can do is make an appointment at the genius Bar of an Apple store and ask.

  • Is there a mobile wi-fi device where I can use this iPod anywhere?

I am new to this, if you haven't already guessed.

Yes, its called a Mifi Device.
Many Cellular carriers offer these devices.
They connect to the cellular network and share that internet connection out through a Wifi network.
You can take them anywhere as they are usually the size of a credit card, and run off rechargeable batteries.
