10.3.1.1565 - how do I get rid of awful blue blob in hub home page on Q10

Really not liking new upgrade
Hub bottom bar which used to be accessible when required, now fixed and using valuable real estate - have lost a full e-mail summary from bottom of screen which is not good....
Also - when I use facebook app, if I send my son a message,. soon as I start to type, the auto suggest text bar comes up and cannot see what I am typing unless I scroll and then have to stop typing, start again - total abomination of an upgrade from what I can see.... lack of proper testing and share price will be hit again...
suggestions, polite ones, always welcome how to resolve these issues

Hello golfbug72,
The FB behaviour you are suffering, I sometimes had a similar issue when posting comments to a picture, but it disappeared when I updated the FB app a few weeks ago.
I surely don't have the issue when sending a message from the Hub to someone.
FYI my version installed is 10.6.31.2.
Which version do you have, and can you detail a bit your issue so I can try on my side please?

  • How do I get rid of "Startnow," which opens as my home page instead of google.

I got this virus when I tried to install VSL digital code to access a Netflix disc. Now, whenever I open my home page, Startnow comes up rather than google. How can I get rid of this malicious program and return to my original google homepage?????

    Please do the following.<br><br>
#In the location bar where you normally type in a web address, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter.<br><br>
#In the filter at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''<br><br>
#Double click it and remove whatever's in there and replace it with http://www.google.com/search?q= and then click OK.<br><br>
    #Close the tab
The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "Copy Link Location" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.
'''To reset your home page, do the following'''.<br><br>

    * Click the button called "'''Use Current Pages'''" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.<br>

  • How can I get rid of Babylon that took over my home page via Firefox?

A site called Babylon took over my home page among other things last week. Your advice via email to get Firefox from someone else who has it wasn't feasible. Neither was Riva uninstaller which you recommended. This appears to be an attack on Firefox and although I got rid of most of Babylon, it still dominates my home page. I love Firefox but this is bad news. I need it fixed.

    Hi Heidi,
Do tou mean it only boors to a blue screnn???
    If 10.7.0 or later...
Bootup holding CMD+r, or the Option/alt key to boot from the Restore partition & use Disk Utility from there to Repair the Disk, then Repair Permissions.
If that doesn't help Reinstall the OS.

  • How do I get rid of the blue box on my iCal on my iMac?

When I add an event in iCal, using my iMac, it is highlighted within a blue box on my iMac.  When I add an event using my iPhone or iPad the blue box does not show up on my iMac. How do i get rid of the blue box on my iMac?

To take a screen shot on your mac: http://www.apple.com/findouthow/mac/#capturescreen
And then when you reply to a post you click the camera button at the top of the post window to attach an image.
From your description it sounds like you are adding an event to iCal and it is syncing (which is what its supposed to do).  If you see something in iCal on the Mac and you don't want it there, click on it once and then go to Edit > Delete.
If you still can't delete that event:
    1. First make an iCal backup:  Click on each calendar on the left hand side of iCal one at a time highlighting it's name and then going to File Export > Export and saving the resulting calendar file to a logical location for safekeeping.
    2. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
    3. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
--- NOTE: To get to "Home > Library" in Lion: Click anywhere on the desktop and then click on the "Go" menu at the top of the computer screen while holding down the "option" key on the keyboard.  You will see "Library" in the menu.
    4. Launch iCal and test.
    If the issue persists:
    1. Go to iCal > Quit iCal
    2. Remove the following to the trash and restart your computer:
    Home > Library > Caches > com.apple.ical
Home > Library > Calendars > Calendar Cache, Cache, Cache 1, 2, 3, etc. (Do not remove Sync Cache or Theme Cache if present)
Home > Library > Preferences > com.apple.ical (There may be more than one of these. Remove them all.)
--- NOTE: Removing these files may remove any shared (CalDAV) calendars you may have access to. You will have to re-add those calendars to iCal > Preferences > Accounts.
    3. Launch iCal and test.

on every site I use these random words are in light blue and if i roll the mouse over it a small box pops up and says no savings found, in the lower right corner says adfull. Is this a firefox thing ( it doesn't happen on IE) if so how do I get rid of it? It is annoying especially appearing on my game site

'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. Safe Mode is a troubleshooting mode, which disables most add-ons.
''(If you're not using it, switch to the Default theme.)''
    * You can open Firefox 4.0+ in Safe Mode by holding the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * Or open the Help menu and click on the '''Restart with Add-ons Disabled...''' menu item while Firefox is running.
''Once you get the pop-up, just select "'Start in Safe Mode"''
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, and you need to figure out which one. Please follow the [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] article for that.
''To exit the Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
''When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help other users who have the same problem.''

  • How do I get rid of the blue "downloading the latest applications" bar which won't go away even after uninstalling and reinstalling Firefox?

Can't get rid of the blue "downloading the latest applications" bar that seems to be just hanging and won't go away. I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox, but the bar is still there after 2 days. I updated something (can't remember what!) on I.E., and it had the same blue bar, but it had a box I could x out of so it went away on I.E. I don't know why the blue bar is there on Firefox, as I did the update while on I.E.
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
== I updated an application while on Internet Explorer.

    Annette,
#In the menu bar, at the top of the Firefox window, Go to Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions.
    # Locate ''each ''of the following extensions by name and click the disable button
#Restart Firefox as prompted and see if the undesired toolbar has been removed.
#The extensions to disable are: '''Crawler Toolbar''', '''MP3 Rocket Toolbar''', '''MSN Toolbar''', '''Search Helper Extension'''
If you don't need some / all of those toolbars, consider leaving them disabled.
You can probably remove these toolbars permanently from Start -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.

  • How to I get new tabs to open to the correct home page?

When I open new tabs they just go to a Google Search page, which is very frustrating, especially when I open a new tab and try to type in the URL bar but as soon as it finishes loading Google it blanks out what I typed in and goes to the Google site. In other words, "blank" new tabs do not open to the Favorites page or even my home page. They open to Google. How do I change that? In other words, how do I get new tabs to stop opening to Google and start opening to either my home page or the Favorites screen? Thanks!

You can modify the <b>browser.newtab.url</b> pref on the <b>about:config</b> page and set it to the desired page to open.

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
