10.3.9 and cannot see an externl HD

Hello,
I'm helping a friend and trying to connect my external HD to her iBook G4 (933mhz Power PC G4) with 10.3.9 and the HD icon does not show on the desktop through the firewire port.
I launched disk utility and it is not found. And system profiler>firewire says "nothing found".
On my G5, with 10.2.8, and with my macbook with 10.4.9 it does appear with no problems.
What is up with that??
one more thing, when I disconnected the External Drive from the laptop, I got the "warning" message telling me that the external device was removed improperly,,,, bla bla.... so it appears the the laptop did see the Ext HD, but failed to mount it on the desktop!!
any ideas?

Hi,
I don't know what exactly is going on, but I'll just throw out a few suggestions.
1) Have you used any other devices on the iBook's firewire port? Could the port be bad?
2) Are you running off firewire bus power alone? If you are, maybe the port is weak and just can't provide that kind of power. Try connecting wall power to the drive.
3) One other thing to try is the following: turn off the iBook, connect the drive to wall power, connect the drive to the iBook, and then turn on the iBook.

Hello Schimi. The Time Capsule is a kind of product that offer you two possibility:
- To use the TC as a router or as an external HD.
The difference between WPA and WPA 2 are:

WPA2 is compatible with WPA , but offers higher security level . In fact, it meets the high standards of many government agencies . If the router and computer support WPA2 , this should be your choice.

*Open the web page that has the images missing in a browser tab.

Pages go from right to left, blank space on left and cannot see all of page at one time

All my screens move to the right and there is blank space on the left which is about 4 inches wide. Then my screen goes back to normal for a second or two and then back to the right again and I cannot see the whole page.

The icon in the upper right of the screen (assuming you are using the Mail app) that looks like a square with a pen is the new message button. Tap that to create a new mail message.

This is extremely alarming to hear! I need some clarification to help. What do you mean by the bill was terminated? Do you mean your services were stopped? Do you have a prepay or a postpay account with us?

When I try to migrate from 3.1.7 to 31.3.0 I see proof that everything transfered yet I cannot see accounts and cannot see emails.

I recently had my network professionally upgraded to a domain server. The installer left me with Thunderbird 3.1.7 as he could not and did not install to the latest version (which I was using) as it just wouldn't work. My system is Windows 8.1 Pro and is 64 bit. When I upgrade to 31.3.0 and open Thunderbird my screen is essentially blank. I see none of my accounts on the left side and I can see no email. I see the tool bar at the top and can select those items. If I go to "Tools" and then "Account settings" I can see all my accounts and all seems to be set up correctly. Likewise I can see my address book. If a new email comes in I hear a "Ding" and see a notice in the lower left but cannot view any content. I can create an email. If I change back to 3.1.7 I can see everything, including emails that have come in while trying to wake up 31.3.0. I will return to the old version for now to read any help you may have to offer. Thank you.

I have given up on a solution and it is probably best. I have so many emails that it would be beneficial all around if I started fresh without copying any emails at all. I would start fresh and hope to copy my address book, message filters and possible by folder structure to my fresh start. To that end I have made a new post asking how to freeze my current version and add a 2nd separate version to use from this point forward. Probably a much better choice as I have over 10 years of emails!!

Just updated to 1.1 and cannot see edit icons in filmstrip

Hello, in the middle of editing several hundred images and now that I updated to v1.1 I no longer see the icons in the filmstrip which indicate whether an image has been cropped or exposure adjustments have been made. I only see my star ratings. They do show up in library gridview but how can I get them to show back up in the filmstrip while I am in develop module? This is a major inconvenience if I can't get this to show up.

I have the same problem, but resizing the film strip does not work for me. No matter how big I make it the adjustment icons do not appear on adjusted photos.
Any other suggestions?
