10.3.9 combo update error when writes

Hi. I'm trying to upgrade from 10.3 on my iMac G4, 700 mhz powerpc, 768 mb sdram. The dmg application stops during write and says there was an error and to try again. I've tried again several times! Here's what the console says:

I read in another discussion here about deleting some of the extension and cache files, which I did, rebooted, and the problem remains. I don't have the original 10.3 software to boot from, but I have repaired permissions from Disk Utility.
Any suggestions? I need 10.3.9 to be able to use the wifi adaptor i want to use.

It sounds like the .dmg is getting damaged or corrupted during the download. What sort of internet connection do you have?
The best advice I can offer is to try to download the combo update again. I've got an ADSL connection at work, and it's taken up to three attempts to get a good .dmg file.

ok, someone else with similiar problem, I just opened the box 5 days ago, installed iTunes (the June 2005 version) that came on CD with it, ran iTunes, downloaded some music, plugged in Shuffle, goto download, fails, no device found, can see it under XP ok, goto apple.com to find support FAQ, I then ran up Ipod Updater, thinking that since it was new, firmware must be recent (little did I know ) so I thought do the Restore straight off, it started, then failed with the "disk write error" and havent been able to talk with iPod Updater since, then tried installing iPodUpdater to another PC, no luck, then downloaded later versions of iTunes and uPdater, installed on a 3rd PC, same deal, unable to communicate to Shuffle, rang phone support, spoken to two different support people, finally they agree its faulty (something I figured out 4 days ago) and suggest I return it to Apple for replacement, and fill out a Service Request form, which opened a can of new worms, like there is no "Warranty Replacement" option, lots of questions like Credit Card details and nowhere to actually define that I have a "faulty" or "dead" or Shuffle to return and they obviously did not read the comments, that were requested, as they simply sent docking station in the mail, so now back to square one, trying to lodge a Service Request to "replace" a brand new, dead shuffle. Not having a nice iPod experience here !!, but Itunes is good, although expecting it will take a couple weeks all up before I get a working Shuffle to actually download to. Tried again phone support, to sort out this mess, waited in queue, then line goes dead. Oh Well ... I blame my daughter for this heartache, she insisted on having an iPod.

Link update error when updating linked excel file

Im working with about 200 pages product catalog and the product information is on excel tables. I import the excel file as unformatted table in Indesign and format the table using the table and cell styles. The importing and formatting goes just fine, but when i edit the linked table in excel and then try update the link the Indesign notes: "Cannot update the link for xxxx.xls. Please place the document again to reset the link." The catalogs product information is on 5 separete excel files and each file contents about 3000 rows and 7 colums, the idea was that i import the excel tables to Indesign and when the customer makes changes or correction in excel, i just update the links and thats it. This updating error sinks the whole idea, has anyone a good idea how to fix this problem or can i do the job some other way?
Im using Indesign CS3 (5.04) and Mac OSX (10.4.11( and i have tryed two different excel version, Excel 2008 for Mac (12.1.3) and Excel 2004 for Mac (11.3.7).

I've seen this error sporadically and have no clue what causes it. The
only thing you can do is follow the direction and re-place the file.

Possiblely a bug - windows update error when using NAT between Hyper-V Virtual Ethernet Adapter

I'm using SCVMM managing my Hyper-V machine.
I have three physical network adapter on my hyper-v host as below:
I'm using SCVMM 2012 SP1 to create two virtual network adapter base on each Realtek controller, Bridge the traffic from the physical adapter, NAT the traffic from the internal virtual adapter to the internet facing virtual adater.
I can access the internet but i got the windows update error as below
If i NAT the internal virtual adapter traffic to the WIFI physical internal facing adapter, windows update is fine.
I'm using my hyper-v server windows NAT feature.
I did google a round, it looks like something wrong when you NAT the two virtual network adatper..
if anyone here can help, that's would be much appreciated.

I must say mobile VPN client (IPsec) is a pain in the ***. It's incredible how problematic is this software. I'm trying to connect to my VPN server (Linux-based) using Openswan, and after trying for some months, I cannot connect it.
I decided to update the client, and I tried to install the last version (mVPN 3.1 build 090519). But, no matter what version I use, the answer is the same:
UPDATE ERROR
Please, help me with that. And if you know where can I addres the IPSec Openswan issues with this client, please, tell me... I don't have a clue in how to put this f***** client to work!!!

Updating error when updating creative zen stone with Creative ZEN Stone Starter Pack 1.10

Im trying to update my zen stone(which im so glad i bought)with the update software app(new starter pack) that was released oct 22 07 ut am getting string errors.First i tried using the update software in media lite and i get string errors.
i quote : string id 2225 not found plus string id 2208 not found.
I tried installing a couple of time with no apps open and i get the same error. I also tried dloading the app from creative support site myself and when i try install it i get the same error.
The q Is there a problem with the new update or is it my pc.
I am using XP professional:52 Ram.
My current software version is .06.0.
The file im trying to update is ZENStone_PCApp_CLE_ L6_0_08(4.64 MB)
Id appreciate anyones feedback on this as id like to keep my player uptodate when it comes to critical updates like this.

Try going into "Control Panel->Administrati've tools" and clicking on "Computer Management". Find "disk management" in the left pane and click it. Your Stone should be in the right somewhere. I think you need to right click, then "choose dri've letter and paths" and give it a dri've letter with the "add" button. Let us know if that works.

Error when Write/read Cluster in binary file.

hi all,
I implemented a code (using the Labview example) to save and read cluster data (see attached file). The write part works properly but when I want to read the file, there is an error : "Error 4 occurred at Read from Binary File in main_save_data_V2.vi; LabVIEW: End of file encountered'.
BUT the data are correctly open. Why is there such message? any suggestions?

Instead of predicting how many clusters to read, just set the count in the binary read to -1. That will read all that it can and I got no error. Here is all you need in order to read the file.

Carrier update error when update to itunes 10.5.3 (error 1630)

Hi, today I tried to update itunes to version 10.5.3 but I recieved this erro: ( error 1630 )
what's wrong with my iphone 4 ( ios 5.0.1 ) ?!
And my carrier is MTN Irancell.

I get Update errors when no update is due - sometimes won't close

I will get a window appearing stating that a Firefox update failed.. but when I check, I have the latest version.
Sometimes Firefox will not close, but runs in the background.. does not show as application in Task Manager.
I have to restart in order to resume browsing.
Additionally, Microsoft Security Essentials Virus definition KB2310138 (definition 1.165.3736.0) will not update with WindowsUpdate_80070002 Error. Updating definitions through MSE fail with connection failure.
I think the two problems are related.

It looks like your version strings don't match. Make sure
they don't contain any excess whitespace; I think one of your
version strings might end in a newline.
