10.3.9 to 10.5.0

I originally bought an iPod touch, and when I hooked it up to my computer it wasn't compatible or something.
So I bought Leopard to upgrade my computer. When I put the disc in however, it said I didn't have enough RAM. I have currently:
Version 10.3.9
256 MB DDR SDRAM
1.25 GHz PowerPC G4
Capacity: 74.4 GB
Available: 43.29 GB
Is there any way to get Leopard installed? Excuse me if my questions are simple, but I'm not that much of a Macintosh expert. Also what would I have to do to have my computer updated?

You need at least 512mb of RAM to install Leopard, however even more would be ideal.
To use your iPod touch you may:
* Buy more RAM to install Leopard
* Buy/'acquire' OS X Tiger (10.4) which only requires 256mb of RAM.
The first case would be ideal as 256mb would be painfully slow in tiger and you've bought Leopard :P, buying more RAM is a worthy upgrade even if you're staying with 10.3 Panther.
There are probably ways to 'hack' the Leopard installer; such as using Target firewire disk mode to install it from another mac, however 256mb in Leopard would probably be unusable.
Good Luck!
