10.4.1.19 (Win 64 bit) upgrade removes the "get" button from podcasts

Upgraded and now the "get" button is misssing from the Podcasts I'm subscribed to

Im not seeing that on my Mac, but some people with Windows based computers are discussing that here -> Podcast, download all?
They mention a workaround of doubleclicking the podcast.
Did you find the podcast by browsing the iTunes Store? Try subscribing to a new podcast in the iTunes, like Lifehacker. If it doesn't have the issue, try removing the other subscription from iTunes and then adding it again.

  • I have been unable to upgrade to the pro version from Export PDF...why?

Can anyone help me, as I am trying to upgrade to the Pro, and it keeps saying to contact support

    Hi Kevin,
ExportPDF is an Adobe's online service and there is no link of upgrading Acrobat from ExportPDF service.
If you want to install and use Acrobat pro version, the you might purchase it as one-time purchase or as a subscription (annual/monthly).

  • 9.0.3 Upgrade Moved the Navigation Box from Top to Side How can I Fix this?

In all my previous version of itunes (5+ years worth), I've used the navigation bar on top of the master library list, I'm sure what the official name is, but it opened on top of the library and I could sort my artist, album or genre. I just upgraded to 9.0.3 and now it only shows artists, and is vertical on the left side of the library. Please help! I hate this change and it's throwing me off completely. I just want to go back to the old way.

    Hi--
    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
Look at the "View" menu and check out the options in the "Column Browser" submenu. You'll want "On Top". You can also add back your genre column in this submenu.

  • What are the Bit Rates of the Music Store and Podcasts?

What is the bit rate quality and format of a song downloaded in the Music Store? And podcasts? Are they perfect, Apple Lossless quality or what...?

This might be true, but you won't experience any improvement in sound quality. Here's some info on bit rates:
This was originally posted by the incredible Sparky the wUnderdog
"As a general principle, you can fit more CDs on your iPod if you encode at lower bitrates (making smaller files), but at the cost of audio quality. Lossless promises to capture all the data on the original CD (thus preserving quality) but coded so the file takes half the space. MP3 and AAC (an implementation of variable bit rate MP4) both eliminate some of the information on the CD in order to compress the digital recording into ever smaller files--the lower the bitrate, the smaller the file, but smaller files mean more information lost and consequent poorer sound quality.
iTunes's MP3 encoder is so-so; the LAME encoder is better at preserving sound fidelity to the original. AAC files ripped in iTunes certainly sound better than its MP3s, with audio quality close to the best LAME MP3s at higher bitrates. With the type of music I listen to most often, sound quality declines substantially as bitrates fall below 256kbps, but LAME or AAC @ 256kbps sounds pretty darned good, and at 320kbps LAME alt-preset-insane is amazingly faithful to the original. However many users claim that with the music they listen to they can't hear the difference between 192 or even 128 kbps files and the original CD source, so they naturally choose higher compression rates to fit more "songs" on their iPods.
CDs take approximately 10MB per minute of music; Apple lossless takes 5MB/minute; LAME insane takes 2.5MB/min; AAC or MP3 at 256kbps take 2MB/min; and iTunes Store files (AAC@128kbps) take 1MB/min. At these rates, a 20GB iPod (really 18.6GB) can hold anywhere from 30 hours to over 300 hours of music. (iPod marketers express this potential playback capacity as "songs," figuring 4 minutes per song--thus 300 hours at 128kbps = 4500 "songs.") You will need to listen to samples ripped with different bitrates and codecs to determine the optimum tradeoff point for you between quality & quantity. It's worth taking some time to do this at the start as it sure beats reripping everything in your collection 2 or 3 times to get it right later.
So far as convenience goes, nothing beats iTunes's one-step process. To change bitrate as you import from CD, go to the iTunes menu > Edit > Preferences, select the Importing tab, choose AAC or MP3 encoder in the "import using" selection box, then choose "Custom" in the "setting" box, and the window permitting bitrate selection will pop up. If you choose iTunes MP3 encoder, at least use VBR (variable bit rate) to maximize the sound quality. (VBR increases sample size as data complexity increases.)
If you would prefer LAME MP3s, fear not, for the easy-to-use CDex ripping software is a free download and requires only one simple extra step to get the files into iTunes for transfer to your iPod. Now if AAC sound quality is comparable to LAME MP3, you might wonder why you should even consider LAME: Because of portability to other devices. At present, hardly anything but iPods can read AACs or Apple Lossless, but almost everything reads MP3s. So if you plan to burn CDs of your compressed files for playback on your home or car CD player (for instance), it would be wise to choose MP3.
One other consideration specific to the iPod: It has a 32MB cache. If you choose a compression rate that results in large files (i.e. lossless), then the cache won't hold very much 'music' and the hard drive will have to spin up frequently to fill it, and that will shorten your battery life somewhat."

  • I had to pay $19.99 for an upgrade to the new Numbers from iWork '09

I had a retail version of iWork 09 installed on my mac.  Yesterday, after upgrading to OS X Mavericks, I updated to the new version of Numbers and I was charged $19.99.  Any chance Apple will reimburse my account now that Numbers is free?

***For those that purchased iWork 09 not on the app store but as a retail disk copy you can get the update for iWork even though it may show $19.99 for all the apps:
You can reupdate to iWork 9.3 by going here http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1563
then after it is updated close the app store if opened then open it again and sign out then sign in and then all the iwork 2013 apps should show as update rather than $19.99 cost each. This worked for me. I bought iwork '09 on disk but it showed 19.99 each after I upgraded to Mavericks so  followed the above steps and it worked. I am now updating all my iWork suite I bought on disk, NOT on the Mac app store and now I have a Mac app store set!
Apple sure has a problem that needs to be fixed otherwise iWork will eventually be free for everyone...
Someone at Apple forgot all of us old retail people before the Mac App store existed!

  • My iPhone 3G doesn't turn on? The worst bit is that the menu button doesn't work too well either.... Help!

I was charging it from 1300-2300 (10 hours) since the apple logo wasn't coming up but that lightning bolt sign appeared.
When I came back, my phone just has a black screen and isn't turning on.
The top menu button is practically useless and I've retries connecting it to iTunes but it doesn't even do that
I've had this iPhone for more than 3 years and with time it's worn on and so the menu button has faltered and I dunno what to do.
What can I do for it to turn on again??

By "menu button" I mean Power button -'not the home button!

  • How do I upgrade to the new iPhoto from iLife 11 from iPhoto 8.1.2?

I have iPhoto 8.1.2 running on a MacBookPro using OS X 10.7.2.  When I went to the App Store to buy iPhoto from iLife 11, it pointed out I had 8.1.2 installed but not purchased from the App Store, and asked if I wanted to buy iPhoto 9.2.  Do I have to buy 9.2 first, then 11?

Marketing names and version numbers are confusing.
The marketing name iPhoto 6 corresponded to the version 6
The marketing name iPhoto 08 corresponded to the version 7
The marketing name iPhoto 09 corresponded to the version 8
The marketing name iPhoto 11 corresponded to the version 9
So, v9.2 is the current version of iPhoto 11.
Not that this is confusing or anything.

  • If I upgrade to the Creative Cloud from CS5.5 for the promo rate of 29.99, then cancel..

...within 30 days. Can I later rejoin the Creative Cloud at the same initial promotional rate of $29.99 + tax per month, or will it be forfeited due to the cancellation?
What are the limitations of the promotional offer?
    Complex, I know....

Should work except if the promotional offer is already over.

  • I recently upgraded to Lion and am using the current version.  I cannot remove the guest account from the startup screen.  I disabled it in the system pref but it still appears.

I downloaded and installed the most recent verison of Lion for my iMac.  After doing so I noticed that my start up screen now has a "guest" account.  I went into settings and disabled the "guest" account.  Still, the startup sceen displays a "guest" account and allows one to start the computer in a "safari" only mode.
How do I removed the "guest" account from the start up screen and disable access via the "guest" account?

Have a read here OS X 10.7.2 with iCloud showing Guest user account at log-in
To get rid of it, uncheck "Find my Mac" in System Peferences -> iCloud

  • Where's the "Clear" button in Maps after upgrading to iOS 5?

Subject pretty much sums it up.  After upgrading to iOS 5 I found that they seem to have removed the Clear button from the Directions feature.  How can I clear a route in the updated version of the app? Thanks.

    iPhone 5
Just wanted to add instructions on how to clear the recent routes history.
1  Open maps app. to view the actual map screen (not the route screen that shows the routing history).
2  Touch the little book icon in the upper right corner. Then you should see tabs at the bottom of the screen labeled "Bookmarks, Recents, Contacts".
3  Touch the "Recents" tab. Then you should see a list of the past routes you have looked up.
4  Touch the "Clear" tab in the upper left corner. Then you should see 2 options to either "Clear All Recents" or "Cancel".
5  Touch the "Clear All Recents" tab (shown in red). Then you should see the screen wiped clear.
6  Touch the "Done" tab in the upper right corner.
If you still see the very last route on your map: Then touch the "X" on the upper part of the screen, on the left side of the little book icon, located within the Search bar. Then you should only see the blue dot, representing your current location.
    I hope this helps.

  • T400 - lost Win 7 64 upgrade disks

    Hi everyone
Unfortunately I have lost my Lenovo Win 7 64 upgrade disks (the infamous one delivered by Mentor Media from Singapore). Does anyone have experience of reordering them?
I've sent an email to them (in answer to their original It's shipping mail) but don't hold high hopes.
Any tip would be gratefully received.
    Miguel
    Madrid, Spain

I do not think there is anyway you can get a replacement discs because these are upgrade discs that were send during 2007 window 7 launched. Each set has the window 7 serial number and these are non-replaceable. Neither Mentor or lenovo is liable for item lost.
However, if you are talking about recovery discs, then maybe lenovo itself may entertain a replacement set. Do note that mentor is just a CDROM maker who at that time was contracted to do the window 7 upgrading process.
In your situation and if the win7 is installed on a working lenovo, I would suggest you google and download a software like ABR which can scan and extract the serial number and sometimes the activated profile. You can then download the digital official window 7 x64 bit (google it) and burn discs, then write the serial number on it. Note that since the win 7 has been activated, you cannot resell or reinstall the serial on another machine.

  • I have bought Lightroom standalone version 5 recently. After the release of Lightroom 6, I would like to upgrade to the latest version. How can I do?

When I try to upgrade to the latest version from 5.7 the price shows as 50% of the full price. Is this the way to proceed, I meant the price is too high for the upgrade. Any solution to solve this problem?
    Thanks in advance.

$79 is the standard upgrade price. If that isn't suitable then you will have to stick with your present version.

  • Remove Oracle client path from windows 2008 64 bit

    Hi All,
I had to unstall the epm Hyperion product  after i found that installation need to done on a different language, which has oracle client for both 32 and 64 bit. But when i reinstall it is complaining about the oracle home path.
Below is the error i get from the log.
[FATAL] [INS-32053] The original name of the Oracle Home directory specified already exists.
CAUSE: The name of the Oracle home directory Home indicated on the command line corresponded to a name of origin existing Oracle Home directory in the central inventory.
ACTION: Choose another name for Oracle Home directory. Abandon this installation session and try again.
I have made sure that the filesystem is completely is removed after the unstallation except for these client files which i have removed manually.
Looks like the unnstalation doesn't happen correctly for the clients and old path is somewhere still exists. I have removed the client path from environment variable path list and tried again but no luck.
Can anyone help me to identify the places where i need to look to remove the earlier Oracle Home.
    Thanks

The registry, perhaps, or the inventory (which is in c:\program files\oracle or c:\program files (x86)\oracle - cannot recall right now).
However, if you search Oracle Support for "windows clean machine," you can find an article that shows you how to remove every trace of Oracle software from your Windows computer.
