10.4.10 and ProTools update: related to having to relaunch CoreAudio?

Separately I posted regarding now FREQUENTLY having to relaunch CoreAudio, much more than ever before in the last year or so -- and I do notice that this happens since having my iBook in for the annual tune-up. As part of the tune-up, the techs installed the ProTools update (which I had deliberately avoided). Maybe coincidence -- but I'm really wondering if it's created this glitch.
Which brings up my questions: as I'm still on 10.4.9, what's your experience in this as regarding 10.4.10? Now I'm wondering if I should proceed with THAT update (which came out two days after my tune-up).
I'd appreciate any input on CoreAudio that seems related here.
Gracias,
c

Pro Tools update?
Are you referring to the Pro App Support
update?

  • CS5 Bridge will not open, Air will not install, and AAM Updater will not update.  Please help!

    I am having several problems with CS5, and as best I can tell they all seem to be related.  I purchased CS5 about a month ago.  Photoshop has opened and ran fine.  However, recently AAM notified me some several updates available.  When I tried to update them they all failed.  This lead to the discovery that Bridge will not open at all, Air installs but with an error and cannot update itself or applications like Adobe Help, and since the AAM updater ran it now thinks everything is up to date.
    I have search endlessly for every piece of information I could find on this issue.  As well as, sat on the phone with tech support for hours.  As best I can tell, (and really I have no evidence to support me), it seems to all be related to a permissions issues.  However, I have tried everything the forums suggested with no luck, and Tech Support ended with me doing an Uninstall and reinstall (twice), while repairing permissions in-between.  I am about at the end of the road with this issue and would greatly appreciate any additional suggests you could offer.
    Some additional details.
    Running a MBP i7, 8GB RAM, and MAC OSX 10.6.4
    Bridge Issue,
         When attempting to launch Bridge it simply returns an error "This operation could not be completed..."  I tried the option click and reset method, no luck.
    Air Issue,
         Kind of works, but at the same time doesn't.  In that in one of the previous installations programs like Adobe Help would not run.  Now Help does run, however, when I go to update Air it says it completed successfully but then immediately gives me an error saying "~this may not be allowed by the administrator..."  I also cannot update Adobe Help, it just sits and says preparing to update.
    AAM Updater Issue,
         This appeared to work fine until I attempted to install an update.  It downloaded everything and then failed on the install.  However, now it thinks everything is up to date, but nothing is.

    Well despite not getting much love on this forum.  I was able to correct the problem.  I tried every solution that google would produce on these issues.  Ultimately it came done to permission issue.  I was lead to this fix by a person on flickr that suggested permissions as the cause.  However, his solution was to modify the permissions in the home directory root and apply them to every subsequent folder in the home directory.  Although quick and easy, I felt this would lead to more trouble then it was worth.
    I did some more digging and what I discovered is that all the permission of the Adobe folders in the home directory library (not the HD library) and the application folder did not match all the other folders in those areas.  Some of the files in some of the folders did not match either.  So I made them match (the ones that matched I left alone), and everything seemingly went back to working normally.  It was a bit of a pain going folder by folder.  Fortunately there where not many of them.  About 8 in total, plus the internal folders.

  • Unable to Reboot After Latest Apple Updates (SA-2011-06-23-1 and Security Update 2011-004)

    Hi All,
    After applying today's updates (06/23/2011) in APPLE-SA-2011-06-23-1 Mac OS X v10.6.8 and Security Update 2011-004, my MacBook will no longer boot. Prior to updating, the MacBook workked perfectly (except for the occasional error entry in the system and kernel log). The MackBook model number is A1278, with a RAM upgrade (4 GB).
    When booting in NORMAL mode, the grey screen with Apple logo (and spinning wheel) is shown for about 50 seconds. The device never shows the blue background or login window. It simply shuts down like the power was pulled.
    When booting in SAFE mode, the grey screen with Apple logo (and spinning wheel) is shown for about 1 minute 30 seconds. The blue background is shown and quickly transitions to the login windows. About 45 seconds after the login window is shown, the machine shuts down like the power was pulled.
    On the few occassions I logged in to take advantage of the 45 second safe mode window (before shutdown), I was *not* able to copy off my log files (in /log/var) to a thumb drive because the computer would not mount the USB device.
    When I peeked at the system's log file, I caught the tail end of "signature validation failed" for a bunch of hardware - from video to audio. I can only peek because the computer will shutdown before I have an opportunity to study anything in detail. The failed verifications may or may not be related to the shutdown - signature verfication might be disabled in safe mode; I simply don't know.
    It seems the world's most advanced operating system [tm] is performing the world's most epic failure. Any ideas to get this brick working again would be greatly appreciated.

    Here's what I've found:
    (1) I cannot run Disk Utility because I don't have my install disk handy
    (2) I cannot run Repair Permissions because Apple does not make a separate ISO available to fix their mistakes
    (3) There does not appear to be a wat to back out updates (ie, no Add/Remove Programs)
    I was able to boot into safe mode and perform:
        > sudo bash
        $ chmod -R root /
    Amazingly, the command ran to completion. Unfortunately, it did not fix the problem. As soon as some spare cycles were available (interesting indeed!), the machine shutdown.
    +1 to Apple engineers for creating a broken patch
    +1 to Apple quality assurance for letting the junk out the door
    +1 to Apple, for not offering an ISO to fix a broken installation
    +1 to Steve, who has managed to keep his anti-trust lock on the hardware and broken software
    Great job, Apple

  • XML PARASE and insert /update in corresponding tables

    Hi,
    I have a XML in which master details tables 3 tables.I want to separate element and insert/update in corresponding tables dynamically.
    Table invlovled in A,B,C
    Thanks

    The easiest way to do this is along the following lines..
    (1) register an XML Schema that describes the XML you wish to process with theh database.
    (2). create a relational view for the top level elements and for each repeating element (element where maxOccurs > 1 in the XML Schema)
    (3) Use 'insert as select' or other SQL type processing to update your relational tables from the contents of the view
    It is normally recommended that you add the following annotations to the XML Schema before registering it with the database
    (1) At the schema level set xdb:storeVarrayAsTable="true".
    (2) At the complexType level set xdb:maintainDOM="fasle".
    If you search the forum you will find a lot of examples of creating relational views of XML content stored in the XML database. Typically these examples will include key words like 'create or replace view' and 'table(xmlsequence(extract' or 'xmltable'.
    Hope this helps...

  • Logic 7.2 and Protools 7.1cs5

    Here are my results after 2 weeks working with Logic 7.2 and Protools 7.1cs4 (since yesterday 7.1cs5). The PT 7.1cs5 update is recommanded for the Logic 7.2 users
    Stereo output meter balance in Logic 7.2 is still wrong: (since 7.1.1 or longer)
    The random skipping/shuffling of audio regions is still there
    Autotune: I still can not draw bowed lines in its edit mode; choosing a bowed line gives a straight line. In the AU-version Autotune works well (AT4-latest update)
    ESB overload bug still exists, but not so often than before
    Waves Platinum works fine after downloading the newest version, sometimes I crash whenusing Waves Tune (AU version - ESB)
    Audiosuite is not working well in L7.2: after editing an audio file in Audiosuite (preview and process) my system gives the message: error while trying to synchonize audio and midi; sample rate 403583 (or something like that) recognized. I don't hear any midi or audio anymore and I have to restart Logic. After restarting the audio file is converted by the Audiosuite plugin.
    TDM plugin "Cosmonaut voice" is not visible and usable in Logic 7.2; plugin is visable in the digidesign plugin map. In Protools it is working well. I've installed the newest version for PT7 from the digisite
    TDM plugins "BF essentials" aren't visible in Logic 7.2. I've installed the newest version for PT7 from the digisite. They worked well in PT7 after installing, but when I opened enclosed L7.2 they were also gone in PT7.1. Strange...
    Strange behavior of Ivory plug in: when I make an audio track record-enabled Ivory plays out of tempo; bouncing, freezing... Ivory plays out of tempo; all my other AU-plugins are working well in the same situation.
    I use DAE and direct TDM, no Core audio.
    The whole system is more stable than 7.1.1. I hope the days of only making music aren't far away now...

    The Cosmonaut voice en BF Essentials plugins are HTDM and RTAS plugins. HTDM is not supported anymore in PT7. That's why I can not use those plugins anymore. Cosmonaut voice Clip Remover are visible in Audiosuite

  • Smpatch and Sun Update Manager BROKEN - Solaris 10 Sparc

    Since the installation of patch 121118-12, smpatch and Sun Update Manager (SUM) 1.0.9 are completely broken for myself and many, many other Solaris 10 users. Numerous significant bugs are listed in the release notes for the client:
    http://www.sun.com/bigadmin/features/hub_articles/sc_update_rn.jsp
    smpatch analyze and download seems to work, but the system completely hangs on smpatch update, every time. During the hang, smpatch/SUM-related processes are duplicated. This is not mentioned in the release notes.
    Here is the results of "ps -ef | grep patch" when smpatch update hangs upon patch install:
    username 1365 1 0 18:39:38 ? 0:10 /usr/bin/java -jar /usr/lib/patch/swupna.jar
    root 2305 2275 0 18:48:05 ? 0:00 /usr/bin/java -Djava.library.path=/usr/lib/cc-ccr/lib com.sun.patchpro.cli.Patc
    root 2270 2261 0 18:45:34 ? 0:00 smpatch update -i 120222-18 -i 119115-28 -i 119090-24 -i 120099-08 -C patchpro.
    username 1061 1055 0 18:33:40 ? 2:34 /usr/bin/java -client -jar /usr/lib/patch/swupdate.jar
    root 1072 1061 0 18:33:57 ? 0:00 sh -c /usr/lib/patch/csm
    root 1073 1072 0 18:34:01 ? 0:00 /usr/lib/patch/csm
    root 2261 1073 0 18:45:33 ? 0:00 smpatch update -i 120222-18 -i 119115-28 -i 119090-24 -i 120099-08 -C patchpro.
    root 2275 2266 0 18:45:34 ? 1:20 /usr/bin/java -Djava.library.path=/usr/lib/cc-ccr/lib com.sun.patchpro.cli.Patc
    Note the duplicated smpatch and java processes. This is a networked, stand-alone system. Killing the secondary smpatch and java -Djava.lib... processes stops the hang, but always results in installation failure for at least one patch.
    Other than "killing hung processes and retry" as given in the release notes (bogus), what are good workarounds for the smpatch bug(s), which have severely impacted my system? When will Sun release a new SUM client? The current version is completely hosed.

    Thank you VERY much for your reply. I really appreciate your help.
    Yes, smpatch works fine without patch 121118-12 installed (121118-10 is now my current smpatch level).

  • Dimension Current Flag and Last Update date not updated - SLD issue!

    Hi.
    ODI is running pretty well now. I have created several interfaces from flats, multi database tables, but still have to test the services and cdc, etc... later I will do this.
    I am having a small issue here when dealing with Slowly Changing Dimensions. I am trying to populate a product dimension. I use a Load KM and the SLD KM. Then I update a product row in the source, and I wish to make sure that type-II runs OK for major and minor changes after running the interface.
    Well minor changes run ok, deletes don't run at all, and update for major changes should generate another surrogate key and turn the old record "current flag" to zero and "close"/update the last update date as well!!!
    What am I missing here? Is this related to the KM restrictions?
    "Restrictions:
    - Make sure to map ALL target table columns flagged as: "Surrogate Key", "Natural Key", "Current Record Flag", "Start Timestamp" and "End Timestamp". Notice that mappings set for the "Current Record Flag", "Start Timestamp" and "End Timestamp" columns are not used."
    Do I need to implement somehow that behaviour or use another KM?
    Another question regarding data warehousing: Well usually in a bespoke DW we can have N sources, N staging areas, and several data marts. Using ODI, for instance what are the best practises to create or simulate this behaviour??
    I know that using a Knowledge Module I can load/extract (to temp tables in the source work schema), then integrate in the target schema.. using the same schema to temp staging tables or another schema.... what is the best aproach?
    Any dw people wants to share some experiences here?
    Thank you all.
    Best regards,
    Alvaro

  • SCD type 2 and 3 for Relational Dimension?

    SCD type 2 and 3 for Relational Dimension?
    ==========================
    Thanks for your replies.
    I searched this forum and web on SCD 2 and 3 implementation using Relational Dimension (Table) using OWB.
    I find some thread talks about implementing Oracle Dimensional structures, which has levels/hierarchy etc.
    If we design our dimension in pure relational fashion, how do we go about using OWB for SCD 2 and 3?
    Are there any new SQL features of 11g to help us here?
    Thanks in helping.
    RI

    Hi,
    several years ago Oracle published whitepaper which described steps for designing OWB mappings for loading SCD (types 1,2,3) tables.
    But recently (after website reorganization) this whitepaper was removed, although you can stil find it by googling with "scdwhitepaper",
    or you can directly download it from http://sourceforge.net/projects/owbland/files/Stuffs_from_Oracle_site/SCDWhitePaper.zip/download
    Also it is available for download OWB experts which implement generation of SCD2 mappings according this whitepaper:
    http://odi-ee.blogspot.com/2009/02/scd-type2-expert-table-operator.html
    http://owbexpert.blogspot.com/2008/12/hallo-hallo.html
    Also look at this thread {message:id=4336731} with discussion of bug which force to update all rows in target table, even they not changed between mapping executions.
    Regards,
    Oleg

    i have an ipod touch and just updated my software to ios 7.1.2. Now I get the message that my adapter, accessory does not support my device. Is there a new adapter that I need to buy that works with the ios 7.1.2?

    This is not my problem. However, I think it may be related to an old speaker. I was using the 30 pin adapter for about a week after the upgrade to 7.1.2. But I think with the update the speaker won't work anymore. I will try with a new speaker system. Thank you for trying to assist.

Is there a setting or is it a bug.
    I use this function all the time to uplaod images for emailing work related photos daily. the voice to text was great for subject and more info in the body section of the email. Pleae since it is a great time saver for me and tool can i get assistance on fixing it.

    When you do an update via a computer's iTunes the update process will backup the device (a backup doesn't contain the actual apps, just their content/settings), wipe the device, install the update, and then restore the backup - the restore would look to pick up your apps, music, films etc from the iTunes library.
    You've tried logging out (tap on your id at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app) and back in and seeing if they then show in the Purchased tab, and you could also check to see if the apps are hidden from Purchased : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases.
    If an app is no longer in the store then you won't be able to redownload it. You haven't got copies of your apps in your own computer's iTunes library and/or on your backup of your downloads/library ?

  • IChat won't connect and Software Update will not run.

    Hi, all,
    Sorry if something like this has already come up, and I apologise if this is the incorrect forum to post this in. I searched and didn't see anything identical to my issue (I didn't search very hard, but I did search), so I figured posting a topic might be the best way to go. I know this is two problems, but I decided to post it in the iChat forum in case the two were related.
    I bought this computer and received it yesterday. It's a 15 inch MacBook Pro, i5, 10.6.4. It worked fine this morning, software update ran, ichat worked fine.
    Now, when I try to connect to iChat, it takes a good ten minutes to try to connect, and then it sends me an error that says "You have been disconnected from iChat services. An internal error occurred that disconnected you from all iChat services. To resume using iChat, log in again to your instant messaging account." So, I quit iChat, and restarted it, but now it won't even show me my buddy list saying "connecting....". It just starts and sits there, and all the options are greyed out. I tried going into the security settings and changing the port to 443, but that's greyed out, too.
    So I thought I would try to run software update, and software update opens, but it doesn't ... go. It shows the little blue bar, and it's not frozen, but it doesn't advance at all, and it never gives me the option to go to the "install updates" screen because it doesn't check. I went into my network settings to check my connection, and I'm definitely connected to the internet (I mean, I'm typing this ON the MacBook Pro right now), but the panel says I'm not. I can hit "cancel" and quit software update.
    I already reinstalled the OS and the update to 10.6.4, and it's still the same issue.
    Help, anyone? This computer is brand new and I really don't want to have to erase and reinstall.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Welcome to the    Discussions
    On the changing the port front stop off on the Account Info tab on the way a deselect "Use this Account" to take it Off Line. (you can get half way states)
    You should then find the port 5190 is dark text so it can be edited.
    You should press the Enter key to "Set" the port change (this is different to earlier versions of iChat)
    Also try it with the SSL option disabled.
    If this is an AIM Login (AIM or Apple Name) their SSL server is more prone to "Falling over". iChat should default to using an Non SSL Login on a reconnection front it can be subject to a time frame issue.
    Next check the Mac Firewall (System Preferences > Security > Firewall tab)
    If this is On in Snow Leopard you have to go to the Advanced Button and Allow Signed Apps and Add iChat to the list.
    I favour the last suggestion as this may also block Software Update (Although I nm not sure how you got to 10.6.4 although it is a separate Download you can get).
    I would also check you have DNS servers listed in System Preferences > Network > Advanced Button > DNS tab

    Please, if posting Logs, do not post any Log info after the line "Binary Images for iChat"

  • Service Packs, Security Updates and Cumulative Updates

    I would like to find a  document that would help me understand and clarify Service Packs, Security Updates and Cumulative Updates versions and relationships.
    Things like. Cumulative Updates include old Security Updates. Cumulative Updates do not overwrite applied Security Updates, etc.
    For instance,
    I am upgrading a server from: 10.0.5512 (SQL 2008 SP3, After Security Update MS12-70)  To: 10.0.5861 (SQL 2008 SP3 CU17).
    Would the MS12-70 (2754849) I installed still be present after installing CU17? The reason for doubt was that I saw another version of MS12-70 that includes
    CU 1 to 7(KB2716435). So makes me wonder about it.
    I am probably not able to explain myself right but, the idea is to find a document that can explain how the build information and versioning works.
    Some how I have the idea that Cumulative updates would not include Security Updates.
    Thanks beforehand
    Paulino

    Hi,
    Below will give you list of Service packs and Cumulative updates for SQL Server
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321185
    http://sqlserverbuilds.blogspot.co.uk/
    Security updates are for Windows not SQL Server. SQL server releases Cumulative updates after that a comprehensive service pack is released which includes all fixes that were done in Cumulative updates.
    Cumulative updates fix only a certain type of problem(for which they are created) and should only be applied if facing issue
    Service packs are more through and Inclusive and should be applied and contains many fixes and sometimes introduces few features as well. SP are more thoroughly tested as compared to CU For Cumulative
    update from Microsoft:
    We recommend that you test hotfixes before you deploy them in a production environment.
    This cumulative package is intended to correct only the problems that are described in this article. Apply it only to systems that are experiencing these specific problems.
    This cumulative update contains all the hotfixes and all the updates that were included with the previous SQL Server 2014 update release.
    Windows patch has hardly any relation to SQL server SP and CU.

  • How I can edit and then update multiple rows via JSP to Action Class?

    Hi All,
    I have a JSP page which allows users to edit the some properties for all Object returned by the db. They can then submit the changes to a Action Class which i.e.
    <form action="/SaveUserNames">
    <table>
    <c:forEach items='${requestScope["users"]}' var='user'>
    <tr align="center">
    <td><input type="text" name="userBean[ i ].firstname" value="..."/></td>
    <td><input type="text" name="userBean[ i ].surname" value="..."/></td>
    </tr>
    </c:forEach>
    <tr>
    <td><button type="submit">Save</button></td>
    </tr>
    </table>
    </form>
    In the ActionForm, there is a method, which would allow the Struts code to update my beans with the data the user editted:
    public UserBean getUserBean(int i) {
    return userBeanList.item(i);
    Although I am not sure how I can update the beans in the Action Class with what the user submitted.
    Can somebody help me for this point or can me suggest any design pattern to solve this points?
    Thanks
    Amit

    Fetch values for each user data and put into a Hashtable and then update.
    Userid is the key
    User related data is the bean (like firstname, lastname, age, job, etc), so you have ArrayList of user bean.
