10.4.10 doesn't autologin to wifi network

Hi,
Just updated to 10.4.10 and my MBP does no loner autojoin my wifi network as long as it is secured. I've tried just about everything: delete and add again the network to my prefered networks, delete keychain entries to my network and enter them again, and even updating from the combo all over again in safe mode.
This only happens if I secure the net, either using WEP, WPA or WPA2.
Any other advise?

Ok, partially solved: had to check an option in Airport options - If no prefered network is found - Keep searching for recent networks.
And this is a partial solution due to this report in system log at boot:
Jun 26 04:23:35 MBP /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Resources/airport: Error: SecKeychainSearchCopyNext() failed -25300
Jun 26 04:23:35 MBP /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Resources/airport: Error: password required for "XXXXX" not found in keychain.
Still, I tried rebuild the system keychain using SystemKeychain -C in terminal, sudo prompt, and testing it using SystemKeychain -vt to check if system can succesfully unlock it (it can now), but the error at boot is still there. What my system does now is:
-Checks for pass in keychain but doesn't find it.
-Once booted the user is the one that keeps searching for available netwoks and succeeds logging.
Definitely something Apple should look at cause it's not the way is ment to work.

I'm having similar issues with my phone.  I got my first iPhone recently, only had an iPod touch gen4 for a little over a year.  Updated to 6.0.2 when we got the phone (iPhone 5) a few days before Christmas.  When I got home on the evening of January 11, my phone would not connect the router anymore.  I was able to get it to connect after resetting the phone and the router, updating the router, and manually connecting.  That laste for a few minutes and then wouldn't work anymore.   I live in an area with very limited service, we have a network extender installed to help, and I am barely getting a 3G signal at times.
My wife's iPad 4, my touchiPod 4, and all of our laptops are working just fine on the router.  When I dropped my kid off at school today, I noticed that I am not even seeing the school network anymore from the parking lot where before I got 3 or 4 bars and could connect to their wifi when I was there.  Today my phone goes back and forth between seeing my home network but not connecting, to not even seeing the network at all even from the same room that the router is in.
Hope Apple fixes this problem soon..............

  • 2 Lion Problems: Waking from Sleep Doesn't Go to Wifi Network; & Can No Longer Finger Swipe in Firefox to Move Backward/Forward

I hve a late 2009 iMac at home that I've upgraded to Lion. So far, there are only 2 issues that I'm having:
1 - When I wake the iMac from a long sleep, it doens't automatically log into my wifi network. I have to drag the mouse up to the menu bar, click on the signal icon and choose my wifi network. A few tiems yesterday, the computer stopped recognizing the network while I was in the middle of surfing. Haven't had that in a while, but the inability to log in directly after waking up remains.
2 - I use Firefox to surf. I can no longer move backwards and forwards between pages by swiping left or right. It works in Safari, but not in Firefox. Is that a new functionality that has to be rebuilt into Firefox because of Lion?

I have a similar wifi problem after installing Lion. When my computer goes to sleep or I turn my wifi off, it won't reconnect to my wireless network. I have to manually select it and then retype my wep password. It tries to connect and then says "connection timeout" and the login failed, however, even though it says that it was unable to connect, it actually does connect and I get regular connectivity. Frustrating.
    I have a 15" core i7 2010  MBP.
@Caleb was here.  I had the same issue before I switched to Lion, turned  out it was some issue with my router.  I bought another router and I  haven't had the issue since.  Try changing from WEP to WPA (you should  do this anyway) and see if you have the same issues still.

  • IPhone 4 Doesn't Detect ANY wifi networks at all

I just got my iphone 4 a couple of days back (Finally) and to my dismay, it failed to detect a single wifi network.
After hours of throwing it around at home, it finally picked up my wifi network (although there are about 10 others which it didn't display).
Thats the only network its been able to detect, I'm currently elsewhere and I would like to use it's wifi.
My step-brother got his iphone 4 the exact same time as me from the exact same retailer and he has had no problems at all. Any help?

My ipad 2 does that same thing but it hasent connected for 4 days.

  • Mac OS X Lion doesn't autoconnect to wifi network

    Hello,
I have a small problem concerning my Wifi connection. I used to have Mac OS X 10.6 to automatically connect to my favourite network. But since I upgraded to Lion 10.7 I'm asked to pick my network from a list after start-up. I tried several times to check/uncheck the "Connect to my favourite networks automatically"-button, but this didn't help at all.
Do you have any suggestions? Or will I have to setup my network once again on my TimeCapsule ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sven

....same problem. As well if I connect to the same computer with an other profile no way to get the Wifi connection, first I have to get into the main account, connect manually the Wifi and change to the otherone...
    Help would be welcome!
    Thanks, Florian

  • MacBookPro doesn't see TimeCapsule WiFi network after un-hibernating

    Hi everyone,
I'm seeing a strange issue in that, after resuming from 'deep sleep' (hibernate), my MacBook Pro 2,2 can't see my preferred wireless network. I get the dialog saying 'none of your preferred networks are available', which sometimes lists my preferred network (huh?), but the AirPort menu item always lists my preferred network.
Does anyone else get this? It's driving me nuts.
Additional Info: Wifi is WPA2 provided by TimeCapsule. MacBooks and iPhones work fine.

    If not:
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem. A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?

Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

  • Ipod Touch 4th Gen doesn't see my WIFI network.

I recently erased the ipod and set up as a new ipod (regifted to my daughter) and updated to 6.1.5.  It does not find my network now after the update.  All my other devices connect no issue, as did this ipod before the erase & update.  As a side note, the camera also disappeared after the update.  I erased it again and set it up as new again and the camera reappeared, but still no network.
I tried to manually enter my network by name and it says it's not found.

  • MBA doesn't connect to wifi network after waking from sleep

I just bought a new MBA 13". More often than not, it fails to connect to my wireless network when it wakes up from sleep. This is annoying to say the least. Any ideas?

    Hi,
I'm thinking about a trouble with the route table. Try this in a terminal session after startup:
    netstart -rn
    ping <network address>
After somes answer, close the cover to go to sleep mode.
Open the cover and look the result of the ping command
Normaly you don't have a network
cancel the ping command and redo the netstat commande
Normaly some rows are missing in the result (i don' know why)

  • HT1595 Cannot connect Appletv to wifi network

Appletv doesn't see my wifi network. It doesn't see it when I enter my IP address manually. Help?

If there is no network entering an IP address does nothing since it would not beable to connect to that IP.  If your WiFi network is not comming up it might be one of the things below.  While it is possible to use AppleTV with WiFi and will mostly work it is not extreamely reliable.  Streaming video, espeically HD video over WiFi usally does not work that well for very long.  So you would probably be better off using a wired connection.  It is up to you though.
    Things to look into:
        1.  ATV may be too far from the router.
        2.  The router my be set to not broad cast it's SID which would prevent connecting devices from seeing it.
        3.  The router might have MAC address filtering turned on which could be preventing ATV from being able to cnnect to it.
         4.  The router might be configured to use one of the Enterprise encryption standards that ATV does not support.

  • Wifi network visibility by the Ipad2

My Ipad2 doesn't see a wifi network that is perfectly visible by my computer. Conversly the Ipad display a wifi network which is neither seen by my computer nor by my Ipodtouch. Can someone help me understand the origin of this problem. Thank you

I would update the firmware of the wifi router to solve incompatability issues it means very little that other devices dont have problems

  • My Ipad doesn't connect to wifi while all other devices are connected.

My iPad doesn't connect to wifi anymore while all other devices in the same network are connected including iPod.
iPad was connected this morning, but quit connecting since this afternoon.
It tries to connect, but everytime connects, it disconnect within a second, and it keep doing the same thing.
This is the first time ever I see this problem since I started using this iPad.
    What happened to my iPad??

    Some things to try first:
    1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
    3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
    4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    5.  Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

  • IPhone doesn't ring in wifi mode

Both my wife and I have iPhone 5 phones. We noticed a problem when I first got mine that the phone didn't always let calls go through when it was on the wifi network in the house. Some calls did, some calls did not. We then found that if you turned off the wifi, the calls went through. Same problem with my wife's phone and she got her's a month after mine. Calling the phones, it sounds like they are ringing, but it goes to voice mail, but then the phone doesn't indicate it has a voice mail. We tried turning data off and then back on, and that didn't fix it. We have powered down and restarted, and that doesn't work either.  Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi guidingbyte,
Who is your cellular service provider? Have you contacted them to verify the account and SIM are setup correctly?
Try resetting the iPhone by holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple logo as described here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305743
If the issue persists after resetting, try restoring the iPhone. This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414 will walk you through restoring the iPhone.

  • I let my Macbook die and now it doesn't recognize old wifi connections and doesn't trust internet.

    Hi-
I have often let my Mac die, while going to sleep etc, this is the second time that when I charge it back up and turn it on it doesn't work the same.  It doesn't remember the passwords of old wifi networks that I have told to "remember this network."  Then when I do retype the password and connect there's a screen on the internet that says it cannot trust site like Facebook or Google and sometimes there's "add exception" sometimes there's not.  This is on Mozilla Firefox also.
Last time this happened I can't remember what I did but it eventually started going back to normal....But now, I don't know, any suggestions??

How much free space on the HD?  You should have 30 GB free for the system to do "temporary work", such as saving preferences and internet settings in browswers.
