10.4.11 UPDATE DELETED 300+ ADDRESSES - HELP!

Hi, I updated to OS 10.4.11. While the update was installing a dialog box came up that said something like, "this will change 5% of the content in Address Book." I clicked "continue." When I open Address Book now there are only 3 contacts left (me included). 10.4.11 deleted about 300 contacts' addresses! Does anyone know how to get them back?

Let's start first with a strategy or two to deal with issues like this in the future.
Use the Back up Address Book… option under the File menu in the Address Book application to periodically back up your contact records. Do this before applying an OS update or updating any sync-aware application.
Do the same with your event and task records: use the Back up Database… option in that application periodically to insure that you can easily recover from such a disaster.
Pay attention to unusual dialog boxes which indicate that 5% or more—or whatever other threshold you have selected in iSync—of your contact, event or task records will be changed. It is fine under some circumstances to proceed, but this warning should have indicated to you that something unusual was about to happen.

…you will find file such as these:
• AddressBook.data
• AddressBook.data.beforesave
• AddressBook.data.previous
First, quit the Address Book and Mail, if either are running. Move the AddressBook.data file to your Desktop. Duplicate the AddressBook.data.previous file, and rename it simply AddressBook.data then launch the Address Book. If you are lucky, you will find your records intact.
If not, it's time to restore them from other sources—from .Mac, for example—or begin the long process or rebuilding your records. You may find that you face similar issues with iCal.

3.1.3 update deleted 50% Address Book data

After the latest update deleted half of my Address Book, I made the stupid mistake of syncing to get them back. Unfortunately, I did a two-way sync which permanently deleted the data in my Address Book. I have thousands of contacts and don't even know where to begin replacing the data. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there a chance the data is still embedded somewhere? I have not been able to see Address Book data in Time Machine.

I find it very disturbing that you can lose all your contacts, and I hope you had a back up. I was lucky because a backup was made three days earlier so I only lost three days of new addresses (not much).

I'm trying to update my apps but itunes is defaulting to an old deleted email address, how can I change it?

I'm trying to update my apps on my ipad, but when I go to updates itunes has suddenly defaulted to an old deleted email address, how can I fix this? When I go into settings on my ipad the email address is correct, it's just itunes thats causing a problem. Can someone please help, I cant access the deleted email address and when I try to answer the security questions Apple is telling me that I have entered the incorrect date of birth.....I haven't forgotten my date of birth.... this is so frustrating. What can I do?????

Is it a different account e.g. did you update your account with a new email address or did you create a new account ? If you updated your existing account then try logging out of the account by tapping on the id at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app and then log back in and see if the updated id then shows in the Purchased tab.
If you created a new account then all apps (and any other content) downloaded by the old account will remain tied to the old account, and only that old account can download updates to its apps (and/or redownload its purchases). If you can't remember its password, and can't get the security questions reset (you don't have a rescue email address on the account ?), then you have need to contact Support in your country to get the questions and password reset.

iPhone Model = 4
Purchase Date = 05.Jan.2011
Initial Activation Remark = I used my gmail email account to add contacts initially. But phone always failed to sync (back) with gmail after the initial setup. As in if I make any changes in the iPhone’s Contact List, it won’t automatically be saved to my gmail account. But I thought to keep a full phone back up on my MacBook Pro will be safer option as well.
Latest Full Phone Backup Date = 19.Sep.2013 [via iTunes-11 on MacBook Pro-OS X 10.8.2]
iOS 7 Update Date = 20.Sep.2013

Problem = iOS 7 update deleted all the Contacts that were originally saved on the iPhone.
Tried & Failed = I tried to restore from the available 19.Sep.2013 backup from my MacBook Pro. It restored everything but still NO CONTACTS. If I add email [orginal gmail] account's contacts then it does not show the contacts that I saved on the phone locally; around 1100.
I am in the great trouble because my 1100+ contact list just zeroed by this new update.
[Also, my iCloud all got screwed up. I had earlier used my wife's credit card to register for iTunes, and now my account got her name all over it. There is no option to change the name on icloud.com. I will start a new discussion for this problem.] Though I am trying not to lash out on Apple (for now), but I think that it is seriously getting into my nerves.
Could anyone please help me to get my contacts back? I will be eternally grateful.
I still got the Full iPhone Backup on my MacBook Pro that I did just before the update.

And, after restoration the iOS was still 7.
I tried twice but still no phone contacts.

All apps are tied to the Apple ID they are purchased with and is not transferable.
Delete app and download app with your new Apple ID.

options>edit>scroll down to e-mail>delete info>press done.

Need help to update my email address in BB Playbook ID

My Blackberry paly book has been setupith my old email address and I forgot my password and after answering personal question the password reset submitted to my old email address which I don't have access to that and even though I registered again for Blackberry ID with my new email address still the information about my bBB Playbook shows my old email address and it does not let me to do anything. Please help me out to change me BBID profile so I can update my email address in the BB ID. THanks.

Update an email address in Address Book but Mail Keeps seeing old addresses

Trying to figure out why I update an email address in Address Book but when I go to email this person 2 of their old email addresses still show up in the list. I thought Mail accessed Address Book only? I can't find a update sync or anything...any help?

I went to the window menu-previous recipients and deleted obsolete addresses. When I address an email to one of the people where I deleted an old address, it still comes up. I quit Mail and reopened it thinking that it needed to do that before it worked, but that didn't do it. When I open the previous recipients list, the email addresses that I deleted are gone so there's no way to delete them again. Is there another way to do this? The addresses have also been deleted from my address book, so it's not getting them from there.

How can I delete my address book data

Running Lion. I've read in several post that the data file is in home folder/library/application support/AddressBook.
To test this I set up a temporary user account, added a few contacts to the address book, quit the application, deleted the entire AddressBook folder and contents in home folder/library/application support/AddressBook, re-launched Address Book and the new contacts I just created are still there.
I quit address book, deleted this same folder and contents again, this time also deleted all address book preference files in library/preferences, re-launched address book and the new contacts are still there.
Anyone know where the data file is really kept? In a brand new user account there aren't many files in home folder/library so it shouldn't be too hard to find but I sure can't seem to.
Any help would be appreciated.
PS. For those who want to know "why". I believe my daughter's Mac has a corrupt address book data file so I want to start over "fresh" but can't seem to locate where the true data file is.

This was just a possible but the sync part of it really isn't possible in this case. In setting up a new temporary account on my Mac it would be an account without an iCloud or MobilMe account so there would be no syncing involved.
Address Book data for each user's account will be stored only within that users account. The fake contacts I've created in the temporary user account certainly don't show up in any other account.
Your behaviour "if I delete the files mentioned, there is absolutely nothing left." is exactly what I would expect. Just can't figure out (yet) what's going on, on my Mac because this expected behaviour is not happening.

New users are not updated in Outlook address book (Offline)

We are having an Exchange 2010 environment. from few weeks we are experiencing this issue. When we create new user or change the name of a existing user, it is not updated in outlook address book. Can anyone help me to sort this issue?.

What is the Outlook client you are using? Is it 2003 or 2007+
You are right, you don;t have to update the OAB manually, the kind of issue you are facing is very know (As far as I experienced). After you update the OAB manually, check the issue and it should be fine.
After that create a Test User and check in Outlook if you see it populated.

Thanks for the help Niel. I couldn't change the rescue email address (an address that no longer exists and is therefore useless) until I could correctly answer the security questions. After numerous guesses, finally got them right. Was then presented with the option to change the rescue email address. Guess the only other option was to have Apple Support make the change or reset my account info. Have made note of the correct answers so this won't happen again. Thanks for the fast response!!
