10.4.11 won't install after download "disk does not meet requirements"

After successfully upgrading to 10.4.6, I was able to download (after three attempts) the upgrade to 10.4.11. When I went to install it, it said the volume I picked (the one the OS is on and just upgraded to Tiger) did not meet the requirements and had the red exclaimation point on it, as did all the other volumes. There is about 8.5 GB of free space on this volume. The upgrade was from the support website and was for the power PC, not the intel. What could be happening?

Hi BDAqua,
This is the only discussion that repeats the "disk does not meet requirements" message I'm getting. I downloaded the combo and get that message. These are my specs:
Machine Name: Power Mac G5
Machine Model: PowerMac7,2
CPU Type: PowerPC 970 (2.2)
Number Of CPUs: 1
CPU Speed: 1.8 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 3 GB
Bus Speed: 900 MHz
But I can't seem to find any requirements documentation that explains why my PowerPC won't take this upgrade. It's my son's computer and one of his favorite games just raised its req's to 10.4.6. So I went hunting (software update gave me nothing) and found the combo. Any advice appreciated.

Brand new Mac Mini 2012  2.3 quad Core i7.   When attempting to install any Mountain Lion updates downloaded from Apple support site (10.8.2 or 10.8.2 Supplemental update) Installer will not proceed and says "Can't be installed on this disk. This volume does not meet the requirements..."
Happened on two identical brand new mac Minis with no other data on them, and Apple senior tech support said they had never seen it and had nothing else to try after wiping the drives and reinstalling several times.
Just curious if anyone else has seen or could duplicate this issue.

This is what I've been instructed to do now (all with no success):
Restart the computer, holding down the option key and then do a restore.
Download the 10.8.2 Combo update and try and install.
Restart the computer, holding down the option key and then do an erase & then restore.
Download the 10.8.2 Combo update and try and install again!
Restart the computer, holding down the option key and then do an erase with zeroes & then restore.
Try and buy Mountain Lion from the App Store. (Mountain Lion is not compatible with this computer)
My case has also been escalated. I asked about the DL1603 but they knew no more (or even less) than I did.

  • Flash won't install after downloading...early 2013 MBP/Retina, 8GB DDR3 1600 MHz Ram, 3GHz Intel Core i7 Processor (clean installation)

Flash Player won’t install after downloading
On the first attempt to install v14, Flash Player v13 was installed and working fine.
I opened the installation package for the new Flash Player, followed standard protocol for installing Mac software and it hung before retrieving anything.
Subsequently, while watching the beach ball spin, I got an error message that the installer could not retrieve the v13 Flash Player software.
So I uninstalled Flash Player 13 and again attempted to install v14, only to see the spinning beach ball followed by a message that the installer could not retrieve the v14 Flash Player software.
    I am running OS X v10.9.4 on an early 2013 MBP/Retina display with 3GHz Intel Core i7 processor and 8GB DDR3 1600 MHz Ram.
If you have any ideas or suggestions regarding my issue, please let me know.

  • I have a G5 and bought and upgraded to osx 10.5.  now i need to upgrade to 10.5.6 or higher, but when i download and try to install, i get message "this volume does not meet requirements for this update".

i am trying to sync an ipad to a power mac g5.  i bought and upgraded to osx 10.5 and have tried to download and 10.5.6 or higher, but i keep getting same message:  "you cannot install mac os x update on this volume.  this volume does not meet requirements for this update".  help!

Mac OS X 10.5.8 Combo Update
Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 5
To me, in all such updates, goes without saying maybe: backup, repair permissions, repair your drive (Disk Warrior does more reliable and thorough job, and it comes out to pennies if you don't wait until needed). Clone your system so you can restore or use the backup - just in case.
I'd even do a fresh format after your clone is done and do a full OS clean install and update, and then a quick import from Setup Assistant.
Mac computer with USB 2.0 port
Mac OS X v10.5.8 or later
    iTunes 10.2 or later recommended
    (free download from www.itunes.com/download)
    iTunes Store account
    Internet access
I'm going to assume there is something with the partitions on the drive, partition table most likely, though I know I've seen others with that error message - doesn't really point to cause, rarely does (make sure latest firmware update etc is sometimes included but again, we know that isn't why).

  • Im trying to install a new application on my mac but it keeps on coming up with 'The volume of this disk does not meet the requirements for this update' any ideas how to solve this?

I have recently fully updated my mac to 10.8.2 and i am trying to install a small facebook application but every time i come to chose the disk it says ' OS X facebook developer preview can not be installed on this disk. This volume of this disk does not meet the requirements for this update' any ideas on how to get round this?
    thanks

That may be the new Mountain Lion "sandbox" protective software kicking in, possibly, because ML "thinks" that App doesn't meet ML's new strict security requirements.   A common phenomena.  If you feel the 3rd party App is really OK, you can override this feature and install the new App by holding down the Command key when you click to install the new App.  That's one possibility for the error message appearing.  If not, another possibility is that that Developer Preview software package requires some previous piece of software be installed prior to downloading this Preview.  You would have to check the Facebbok websiste's Developer Forums for help if this is the case.
    Hope this helps

  • Installed FFm, but it says "device does not meet requirements"

Just did a beta upgrade of my Motorola Backflip mb300, to Android 2.1, after a year of waiting I immediately downloaded and installed FFm, it installed successfully, but when I try to open it, it says "device does not meet minimum requirements". I'm sorry but I don't know hardware specifics on the phone, much less any phone. But the only requirement I really saw for FFm was Android 2.0 and above, and this is 2.1 (beta). Could the problem be in the beta phase(?), doesn't seem likely since other apps for 2.0 and above work fine? Any ideas will be appreciated. If there is a hardware issue, any idea if there is an update coming that will work with this phone? Please say it will work.

Experimental nightly builds are not an option on my Motorola Backflip since Motorola and AT&T have crippled the phone and the OS. They will not allow anything to be installed outside of the Android Market. Any update on this issue?

  • After downloading lion does not recognize blank discs or dvd´s cannot burn anything

I downloaded Lion and now my mac does not recognize any blank cd or dvd and I cannot burn anything, not with Toast 10, or with iDvd still not recognized.  Can someone help me??

    Hello
I have been trying to fix a similar issue on my wife's PowerBookG4. I cannot pin point when it started, but she noticed it a couple weeks ago when she tried burning a disc. We have come to discover that her drive will no longer mount any discs at all (blank or otherwise burned discs or software). If I had to make a guess it had to have started in the last month or so after some recent update. Maybe 10.5.2? I am not sure.
I am getting extremely frustrated with Apple though on this matter because I have been browsing multiple forums and seeing this exact issue over and over again and nobody seems to have a solution or correct diagnostic for it.
I have tried zapping PRAM, I have tried many types of discs, brands, etc. and nothing works. I know this is a Software issue, it has to be. There are a LOT of people reporting this issue. If necessary I will start linking to all the different posts that I found in the last few days.
Please post some help, ASAP. This has been a major inconvenience and I cannot believe that Apple hasn't discovered the problem with how many people have been reporting it.
    Thanks

  • Firefox won't install after downloading.

I recently was having troubles with Firefox, I was running Firefox Beta 18 - it started saying it could not update. So after repeat failed attempts, I figured I'd uninstall it and re-install a fresh version. It will download, I can find the file folder, but even when I try to run it as an administrator it won't open the installer. I downloaded three different versions, all do the same. I'm currently running Windows 8 and have had Firefox for over two years on Windows 7. When I upgraded to Windows 8 it transferred seamlessly with no problems. I'd like to be able to use Firefox again.

You can try booting the computer in Safe Mode with Network Support. This can be done by opening msconfig.
    # Enter Desktop mode by pressing Windows Logo + D
    # Windows Logo + R
    # Type ''msconfig'' and press Enter
    # Click on the ''Boot'' tab and choose Safe Mode with Network
    # Click Apply/OK
Then restart your computer and it should automatically enter Safe Mode with Network Support. From there, find your installer and try running it again. When it's done, make sure to go back to msconfig and uncheck Safe Mode.
    Finally, restart the computer.
    Hope this helps!

  • Downloaded Lion. Trying to install but the disk does not use GUID.

I tried to install lion on my Macbook Pro and when i try to it says that the disk doesnt use the GUID Partition Table Scheme and to go into Disk Utility and select the disk, click on the partition tab, choose the volume scheme, and click options. It wont let me click options. I was really looking forward to installing lion tonight. Any solutions?

So install Snow Leopard on the Internal drive,
    Yes.
then use migration assistant to bring stuff over.
At least two ways to do it. That's one. If you do it with MA, then run all updates before running MA. If you use Setup Assistant when you first restart after the installation, then run the updates after SA is finished.
Do i need to update at all after i migrate everything over since i installed 10.6.
Yes. The installer will only install the basic OS; depending on which installer you have, there will probably be a number of updates to download/install. You'll have to run Software Update and update everything listed there. As I said in an earlier post, I would not bring over anything system related.
or should the migration bring all the updates along with it?
    No (see above).

  • Pro Tools won't install.  Startup disk full-not true.

I'm trying to install Pro Tools 10.2 on a Mac Book Pro OS X 10.7.4.  I'm doing a clean install, but the installation won't complete.  It bogs down half way through.  I finally have to force quit the installer because it says my startup disk is full.  This is not true because I have 500 gig of memory left on my drive.  My trash is empty.  I don't know what to do.

You seem to know that an Intel Mac requires a drive formatted with a GUID partition table to boot from it, so that much of your scheme should work, even if you are formatting the drive from 10.4.4 via Target Disk Mode with a PPC Mac, as long as you are using a version of Disk Utility that offers the GUID partition table formatting option (in the Partition tab, in the "Options..." drop down sheet.)
However, it isn't clear if you are then trying to install the OS onto the Intel iMac while still in Target Disk Mode, or which installer you are using. As already explained, you can't install an Intel version of the OS from a PPC Mac while in TDM -- as far as the installer knows, the target is just a drive attached to the PPC Mac, so it will inform you that the Intel OS version can't be used with that Mac.
So, the solution is to make sure the drive is formatted with the GUID table & then install the OS onto the Intel iMac while booting it from the iMac's own installer disk. If necessary, you can access the installer's version of Disk Utility before you begin the installation by selecting it from the "Utilities" menu & checking or reformatting the drive before the install.
This should work fine, unless for some reason you cannot boot the iMac from its original installer disk. If that is the case, please let us know.

  • HT4929 I have 2nd generation I-pod which does not meet requirements for ICloud.  However, I was told that after I moved to ICloud if I connected my iPod to my Mac via the USB connection that my calendar and contacts would sync, but this didn't happen.

I have a 2nd generation Ipod and just moved to Icloud.  I had been told my an Apple tech that although my contacts and calendar would not sync automatically I could connect the Ipod to my Mac via the USB port and ITunes would sync the calendar.  Now I find that this is not happening.  I am not happy that I will have to enter/edit calendar and contact info on two devices.  Is there something I can do to fix this problem?  Thanks.

one more detail, after a restore, when I attempt to reload music to the ipod, if I try and move, say, 20 files, the transfer seems to work as it should but then stalls on the last file.  Eventually, the status will change to "Updates Files on (my ipod)" a and suggests the iPod is syncing  even though I have the auto sync feature turned off.
This process eventually works itself out, and seems to take longer relative to the number of files I attempt to transfer.   Once done, howver, if I try and eject and dismount the iPod, iTunes stalls with the spinning pinwheel and I am warned that the iPod is syncing again with the spinning candy cane status bar.     Eventually thisd works itself out and the iPod dismounts from iTunes and the desktop and eventually the iPod is free to disconnect.
Then if I try and play the music I just transfered, the iPod says there is no music loaded.
    Ideas?

  • ITunes won't open after downloading 7.0

My iTunes won't open after downloading 7.0, what should I do?

    replying to Robert
I get a Windows error code of 0x666D743F
    First see:

    There are some other possibilities
That error has been known to be produced by having Total Recorder or the Volume Logic plug-in installed on the PC.

  • ITunes won't open after downloading software update.  Macbook Pro OSX10.6.8  Simple solution?

iTunes won't open after downloading software update.  Macbook Pro OSX10.6.8  Simple solution?  And by the way, this is apparently a common problem and Apple has completely failed to warn in advance or offer a quick straightforward solution - used to be a good company, but it's becoming just another crappy screw-the-consumer corporation.

It would help to know versions here.  I'm guessing your update put an older version of something into a place where a newer version of something iTunes put in there existed.  Updating an earlier OSX version to 10.6.8 is still only updating to system software that was issued several years ago.  If you are running some slightly newer version of iTunes issued subsequent to 10.6.8 and you just updated to 10.6.8 you may have put in an older version of something iTunes uses.  Anyway, I'm guessing here until we know exactly what you did.
