10.4.2 upgrade to 10.4.8... web/ftp server.. what to look out for?

Anything I should be aware of.
I backed up all of my data, including configs httpd, and other shared apps like squirrelmail, roundcube, phpicalendar.(just in case the update decides it wants to wipe the dir completely)
I have heard about issues with mysql SOCK, but have not kept up to date on what the updates may or may not effect.
Curious what people's issues have been throughout the updates to 10.4.8.
I suppose I could read through all of the threads, but I would kind of like a rundown of things to checkout, before I commit to this update.
P.S. I ASR'ed the booted OS onto another drive, just in case I have to revert while figuring out the solution's to the problems.

Looks like everything went fine.
I decided to do a target disk mode install of the combo update. The problem I ran into is that my MacBook Pro was unable to install the PPC combo update, since it is not a PPC. So I had to use my old powerbook.
Some of my squirrelmail configs were off, but easy to re-implement. Even some of my hacked passwd plugins and seive plugins were fine.

I'm thinking about upgrading our server from 10.4.5 to 10.4.6 (I've delayed it because I remember hearing a few things were broken in the process on some setups). So, being the novice that I am, what should I look out for?

The best thing you can do is to take a full backup of your system and then apply the latest update.
Also, it is safer to apply the combo update.
If you do not hear problems in here, there are probably not any problems

We're using HTMBDB version 1.6 - is the upgrade to Apex 3.0 straightforward (can someone point me to where I can find documentation for how to do this)? Do we have to upgrade to an intermediary version, or can we go straight to 3.0? Are there any known issues with applications that have moved to 3.0 that I need to look out for?

Just install ApEx 3.0 and your HTMLDB will be automatically updated.

My bank's system upgrade tells me that my Mac is a public computer. I know it's not but how do I find out for sure?

I purchased myMac for private, personal use. However, my bank's system upgrade says my Mac is a public computer and as such will now allow me to access any of my account information. The passcode that the bank gave to me will not work with a public computer. How can I make sure that my computer is still a private computer and not a public one? If it has become public, since the bank system upgrade, how dp I get it back to being a private computer for my use only? HELP PLEASE!

When most bank sites ask whether or not your computer is public or private, it is usually for you to understand that if you are on a public computer...like a library...to not have the computer remember your personal password and also to remind you to log out. If you are the only one that uses this computer, it is private.

thanks, a HUGE suggestion for you: Please add that to the restrictions of the trade-in details online, it mentions that nowhere and is VERY deceptive. Since at least 90% of 5c and 5s users are under a 2 year contract and both phones have been out just a year, there will be a majority of bitter customers who fell for the ad and will be taking advantage of the buy out options the other carriers are offering.

CS6 has been converted from the upgrade I bought to a trial version. What the heck is going on.

I upgraded from CS5 to CS6 for my IMac. I downloaded CS6 and out in my serial number and it worked fine for a number of weeks. Suddenly when I went to use it it said it was a trial version. I had to register it to use my CS6   I registered it and it worked, but only as a Trial Version of CS6 Extended. I do not want CS6 Extended. I deleted the trial version of CS6 Extended from my hard drive and once again downloaded my upgrade of CS6 and put in my serial number and it worked fine for a couple of weeks. Today, once again, it tells me it is a trial version and will not load unless I register the trial version. What the heck is going on? This is crazy. I simply want to use CS6, for which I paid. Help!

Its a bug that came with the latest update. The developers know about it and will fix it as soon as they get back from christmas vacation. Lots of us (inluding some of the developers) are suffering the same problem.

No easy fix for a few reasons:
1) Bootcamp requires a hybrid MBR for the partition table. That is: both an MBR and a GPT partition table at the same time with the GPT one having all partitions and the MBR one having only the ones that are relevant, but at most 4 of them (including the protective partition and the Macintosh HD one). Which leads us to:
2) The MBR part of the hybrid partition table cannot work with 3TB hard drives. MBR is limited to 2TB.
I am working on a small EFI app that can boot Windows in EFI mode on a Mac and that would mean that you can go GPT only on your system. The progress of the app is slow due to the nature of EFI and for now requires that you do an unattended Windows install with slipstreamed graphics drivers, but we are adding VGA loading on top of EFI quite soon after the rest of the app stabilises. The status of the app is documented at:
Win7 x64 booting natively via EFI (no bios emulation)
Windows does actually successfully boot in EFI mode on most Macs (anything with a 64bit EFI should work), but does not have graphics support even if you load the driver due to the VGA pci registers not being set by the firmware. Furthermore, in Setup and Safe Mode, Windows uses VGA instead of GOP which is a failure by design since VGA is a BIOS standard and not really compatible without hacks with EFI. Other EFI implementations also add VGA compatibility at a high cost to the firmware complexity for the VGA cards available on the market that don't actually contain anything in their ROM except the VGA BIOS.
My recomendations:
1) Install on a second smaller hard-drive; or
2) Wait for the EFI app to come out officially and use that to boot Windows Vista SP1 x64 and Windows 7 x64 (RTM and SP1) in the native EFI mode.
3) Wait for Windows 8 which supports VGA-less booting acording to the AMD presentation at UEFI Plugfest.

Yours will run Mountain Lion. yours is 4 yrs old and still supported and has life left.

Unable to upgrade IE8 to IE 11 in windows server 2008 R2 datacenter

I am trying to upgrade IE8 to IE11 in a windows server and i am not able to proceed with the upgradation since it asks for the latest updates which it links me to the updates page of microsoft. I disabled the enhanced security and updated

Your profile signature is confusing. There it says "iPhoto '08, OS X Mountain Lion (10.8)". But your question mentions older systems: " iphoto 7 and cannot download the upgrade on my OSX 10.6.8 system"
Do you have two different Macs? If you have a second mac with OS X Mountain Lion (10.8), you could upgrade that to MAvericks and buy the most recent iPhoto '11, version 9.5.1 from the App Store. That would be the least expensive solution to upgrade your iPhoto.
If you only have iPhoto 7 on OSX 10.6.8, you can can buy the boxed iLife '11 installer package from Amazon. This will install an early version of iPhoto '11, that runs well with your current system and will let you print your book. You will need to run the iPhoto library upgrader to convert your old library, see: iPhoto '11: About the Library Upgrader
Also, you should be aware, that upgrading your library may change the book layout a bit, because the themes have changed between the versions, so you need to keep a backup copy of the library and iPhoto 7, to be able to compare the upgraded version to the original.

1. It depends on what Mac model you have. If it's incapable of running Yosemite, installing an intermediate version won't help with that.
2. You'll lose the ability to run PowerPC software, and some other programs may also be incompatible. If something goes wrong, you might lose data; back your computer up first. There aren't any issues specifically associated with skipping versions.
