10.4.3 updates break SMB on authentication with AD !

Anybody have the same problem ?
I managed to integrate the SMB part with Active directory in 10.4.2 but once the update to 10.4.3, the permission cannot be set for groups, it shows not a valid user group. When I select the groups in WGM, the group disappears one by one. Users are still OK.
I cannot resolve the issue and revert back the OS to 10.4.2 doing a fresh install.

Here is my problem in Detail (after loading 10.4.3). Safari will search websites just fine. However, any time I try to "log onto" any Secure Server (such as the Apple support website), the blue bar gets about half way across and stays there. If you quit Safari, the application with close, however, the arrow in the Dock still points to Safari as though it is still open. Now try to open any other application and you will find that the Finder has crashed. Only solution is to power down. This exact same thing happens with Netscape, Mozilla, and Camino (the so called Mac friendly apps). The ONLY browser that will allow me to log onto secure websites is Internet Explorer. It is tragic that a Microsoft program is the ONLY browser I can now use on my PowerBook. I have erased cookies, cleared caches, dumped the preference files, etc. I will try repairing permissions.

After the 10.6.8 update I am having so many issues,
first, the %100 cpu usage of dock, disabled parallels, and now it is ok,
then, a reboot and I am unable to login, I enter my password, it begins the login process, then logs me out,
if I persist, it logs me in after a couple of tries, but each time a few of my applications are missing at random, and the environment is very very unstable, sometimes I see no desktop background, sometimes I start firefox and I am logged out again.
I've seen some people suggesting removal of login items to resolve a similar but not the same issue, so I'm inclined to think overall, there is an issue with some applications which 10.6.8 update breaks.

Actually it is not-so-permitted to remove sophos for this machine, but I did it anyhow. No problem so far, but lack of evidence is not evidence of being lack of something so I am not adding it to the list yet

You already seem to know what the issue is, it is the parallax feature that was added to iOS 7. From your rant, it appears that your attempt to work around this was not successful. According to the Apple documents I've seen, they recommend that you enlarge your image (not reduce it). Make your image have excess space on all sides, which is not displayed on the screen. This way, when you tilt your device one direction or another, it can shift the image to give the appearance of 3D.
As a photographer, I like to use the full frame of my images, but I also know that I need to leave room around the image as well. I have some photos I have taken that I can't use because I have them cropped too tightly too, but I have others that work just fine. Just remember that part of the image file is "off screen" so that if iOS has to shift the image up it has some image that can scroll onto the screen. It needs this space on all sdes, so just make youre images larger, and keep in mind that a portion on each side will be outside the normally visible screen... If you don't like this feature, you can always go into the settigns and turn it off.

Mac OSX 10.4.8 Update Breaks Raid Striping -- System will no longer boot

I'm a newbie from the PC world with a Mac Pro. For the last 8 hours I've been trying to get a Raid-0 configuration to work with no success.
The Raid array constructs ok and the system boots. Once that's done the Software Update screen arrives and I would select install all... then the machine would not boot. I get a Grey Shade like affect and the message to power off and restart. Powering off does nothing.
So I started again for the Nth time and added each Software Update individually. All loaded and rebooted successfully until the 10.4.8 Update.
As soon as that loads, installs and restarts the machine will not boot.
I called Apple's Tech Support and they told me they do NOT support RAID on this machine. I said what are you talking about. They put me on hold talked to a supervisor and came back with the same story. I just don't get it...
So anyone have any insight and advice on why the update breaks my Raid-0? What can I do to get over the problem (I'd like to have the RAID...)?

Yes, you needed an emergency boot drive anyway to repair your RAID boot drive. Just use the same one in addition to a working clone or backup of your regular system.
Apple made it easy to install or update security updates and system updates from an alternate drive (but you will have to use the stand-alone (combo preferably) updaters instead - which many use already as normal part of upgrades for years now (they seem more useful and reliable).
My preference is a dedicated boot drive with OS and apps and minimal home directory - no media files - and fast, like 10K Raptor. I use RAID for my home directory so it isn't on the boot drive for years to improve performance and keep the OS separate. Never a problem and nice mix.

The latest Java update breaks some vital applications

The latest Java update breaks some vital applications. I have reverted back to 7u45. But now, every time a java applet is used, the "later", "block", "update" window appears and stops the applet from loading. I must have this older release. Oracle does not throughly test their updates. Note: the apps the update breaks are actually Oracle apps.
I have checked the "do not ask again until next relesse" box every single time. Worthless.
Is there a way to stop Java version checks? I even have the box deselected for check for updates; ignored by OS X. I WANT CONTROL! Stop checking!

We are facing the same issue. We suggested all out customers not to install the updates Java 7u65 or 8u11 until there is a workaround or fix.
The wrong look & feel is causing the following problems:
- Either icons or text can be display on a button. Currently the majority of buttons are displaying an icon. Therefore the workaround is to set the text at least.
- Scroll-bars are displayed within all cells of a table column. The circumstances are not clear when these scroll-bars are displayed.

Did OS X Mavericks v10.9.4 update break bluetooth audio for anyone else?
I have a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 duo MacMini from 2010, and I just updated to the latest OSX (10.9.4 (13E28)) and now bluetooth audio is broken.
I can pair my device (LG Tone+) to the mac, but no audio will play though it. I've rebooted the machine, reconnected the device after the update, restarted the browser, all with no results.
Typically, when I connect to the system I will get audio acknowledgements through the headset, "Power On" "Battery High" "Connected"
I still get those audio queues through the device. However when I open up a video on YouTube, or attempt to stream music on Spotify...nothing happens.
I've plugged wired headphones into the system and that works just fine. When I connect my Bluetooth headset, the audio to the wired headphones disconnects, so it seems like everything is behaving normally, except that no audio plays through the bluetooth headset.
Any ideas on where to go from here would be greatly appreciated. So, what do we think?

I don't know if this is a Tiger or Leopard Problem. When I try to connect to my server (2*2Ghz G5 10.5.latest) from my laptop (800 Mhz iBook 10.4.11) sometimes I
get a SMB/CIFS Authentication login window. I should get an AFS login window.
When I reboot the laptop it gives me the AFS login.

Finder>Go menu>Connect to Servers..., then type in like...
afp://ip.of.the.server
Once the globe mounts on the Desktop, drag it to the right side of the Dock for a quick Dynamic Mount when needed.

SMB Slow connection with upgrade to SnoW Leopard and Windows Clients.

I have about 15 computers, some are already in workgroup other are linux smb other MAC, the data server are MAC OS X SL, the problem appear for all windows machines, I have try to dissable NTLMV2 and Kerberos since it is probably the faulty element with opendirectory,but always without success !
I don't know what I can do to trouble shout, I hope next release 10.6.3 come soon and correct about all SMB problem ! Probably a dream only ! Since I ask my self if Apple want to correct something andwhy is this problem let without solutionso long ! After firmware update ipod touch not working with my Sony Home Theater DAV HDX287WC any suggestions

Is there a solution to play music from my iPod touch on my Sony Home Theater System DAV HDX 287WC after recent firmware/software upgrade? However, I am still able to play music through my ipod classic, but I am really missing the the functionality of the iPod touch with my home theater system.

Update Dec 11: I tried with FW 1.4.0, and using the same config the switch doesn't perform any Radius requests at all anymore.

I was wrong when I said that 1.4.0 wouldn't work at all. I simply had a device connected which didn't produce much traffic. My bad.
So 1.4.0 works as far as the auth is concerned, but no improvement as far as dynamic VLAN is concerned. So there is no improvement over 1.3.7, or there is a config issue.
I have opened SR 633001533 although the last appointment for WebEx went by without anyone getting back to me. I'll try again on Monday.
Feel free to get back to me if you need anything to make experiments. I'll keep this thread updated too.

You have only one key that you call KMC right ?
It may be possible that the keys stored in the CM are diversified using your KMC.
I know 2 method used for diversification according to Visa specs. These
diversifications are called Visa CPG 1.0 and Visa CPG 2.0 (Visa CPG stands for
Visa Card Production Guide). These diversification methods are using the card
CPLC data.
Unfortunately these diversification methods are not public.Then I can't discribe
them in this forum.
You may check with Visa people to get these two specifications.
Mainly if JCOP Tool is answering this error after an Init Update, it means that JCOP Tool was not able to verify the card cryptogram. Then that the keys set
in the tool are not corresponding with the ones personalised in the CM.

Kerberos authentication with Active Directory

I have tried using JAAS to authenticate to MS Active Directory and keep getting "javax.security.auth.login.LoginException: Pre-Authentication Information was invalid"
I have tried authenticating with multiple user accounts and on three different realms (Active Directory domains).
How do I need to format the username? I know that when using JNDI to access Active Directory I have to use the format "[email protected]" or the RDN. I have tried it both ways with JAAS kerberos authentication as well as with just the username by itself. I don't think that the username format is the problem though because if I set the account lockout policy to 5 failed attempts, sure enough my account will be locked out after running my code 5 times. If I give a username that doesn't exist in Active Directory I get the error "javax.security.auth.login.loginexception: Client not found in Kerberos database" Is there something special that I have to do to the password?

Did Apple Break HD-DVD Playback with Mountain Lion using Apple DVD Player?

First of all, kindly spare me the commentary about Blu-Ray beating HD-DVD. Agreed and not the question. I have perfectly good reasons for using HD-DVD and it works very well for my purposes.
I authored an HD-DVD in DVD Studio Pro 4.2.2. as I have done many times before on Snow Leopard, but this time on Mountain Lion. When I try to play the HD-DVD, either from the physical disk from a disk image, the menu appears, but when the play button is pressed, the menu stays on screen, but the player shows the timecode of the movie playing, but with no sound or picture.
Thinking that perhaps the menu got corrupted, I put the same HD-DVD into a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard, and it played perfectly! Conclusion: Not a DVD Studio Pro problem.
Thinking that it might be DVD Player, I copied DVD Player 5.4 from the Snow Leopard MacBook Pro to the Mountain Lion MacBook Pro (which was running DVD Player 5.6), and the HD-DVD still had the same issue on the Mountain Lion MacBook Pro, under either of the DVD Player versions. Conclusion: Not a DVD Player issue.
The HD-DVD does mount and initialize, so it's not a hardware issue with the optical drive.
Conclusion: It would appear to me that it's an OS issue with Mountain Lion breaking (either intentionally or unintentionally), HD-DVD playback. Anyone know anything more about this issue? Anyone else saddened to see Apple turn into Microsoft circa 2005, and the MacOS turn into Vista? I haven't seen much of anything about it in the forums, which is why I'm posting it here.

I knew I would regret upgrading to Mountain Lion, and I do more and more each and every day as I continually find more things that it broke. Yet another reason to add to my list for downgrading to Snow Leopard. I'm up to about 30 of them. Or to abandon Final Cut for Adobe products.
Thanks and sorry for the rant, but I'm justifiably frustrated.

Update: The Apple Store in Nashua, New Hampshire replicated the issue on their own hardware, so yes, Apple did break HD-DVD playback with Mountain Lion (it does still work in Lion, they discovered). The Apple Store reported the issue to engineering, but the more people that report the issue, the more likely Apple will do something about it. Thanks Apple.
