10.4.4 broke load balancing on dual proc G4 (?)

I have an older dual processor G4 (gigabit ethernet) and under 10.4.2, the cpu monitor showed great load balancing between the cpus. Now, under 10.4.4, the cpu monitor shows no activity on the second cpu. I have the CHUD tools loaded so I'm able to select either one or two cpus as active and I've made sure both are selected when I run my tests. However, I believe both cpus are processing: if I set the CHUD tool to only one processor, the cpu monitor really jumps up, and hence it will drop down a bit if I select two cpus with the tool. Has anyone else seen similar behavior?
Thanks,
B. Rose

Hi all
Just fixed it myself. I realised that I had to share
FROM my built in ETHERNET to FIREWIRE / AIRPORT. I
had it set up to share FROM FIREWIRE as well!
Doh!
Still maybe this will help someone else...
Hi..what does that mean ..sharing both ways . How do you do that ? I'm ,of course, a Newbie at all of this stuff..so bear with my supid questions please. Thanks Dagny

    Hi all,
we have  SRM 5.0 which is clustered with one apps server....     SMLG is configured and load balancing is not going well , all the load is going directly to CI  not to apps server...
In BI [dual stack] portal  the connection to SRM in system administration is configuation  is pointing to  CI with port 8003.. we changed the  the CI host name to virtual address and port to msgserver 8100  where MS  is listening  ..  but still load is coming to CI only....  even  the port 8003 is also giving the same result with virtual  host name...
Please suggest... where  we are missing..

    hi all,
we have made the changed specified in the note and re-bounced the  server , still same problem..
In SMMS  ->go->Expert functions  ->http->Url logon group .... i am not getting any information.. the screen is blank..
The HTTPS  port is active  and is configued to 8003 in SMICM, but when i  check the service in SMMS it's pointing to HTTP and pointing to messgae server port 8100.
If we give the DI host name and port 8003 and portocal to HTTP   the message is able to identify and able to do load balancing..

  • Disable load balancing on dual PRIs - 3640 with MICA modems for dial out

We have a custom application that connects through reverse telnet to a Cisco 3640 that has 2 NM-24DM modules and 2 PRIs connected to it. Currently all outgoing calls are getting load balanced over the two PRIs. If I understand the question I think that isdn  bchan-number-order is the command you are interested in.  I think it detaults to round-robin, sounds like you want ascending (that is isdn  bchan-number-order ascending).  It is an interface subcommand.
    See  http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3t/12_3t2/feature/guide/gt_ibcac.html#wp1055853
That may only apply to native ISDN calls and not MICA based calls, but see if that helps.

  • Load balancing on cisco rv042

    Hi friends,
This is regarding I am facing issue with configuring the load balancing in cisco rv042 .I had configured the load balancing between dual wan of leased line and adsl coonection but loadbalancing is not working fine kindly help me on this

If i close one link it takes 20 seconds of downtime and then ping goes without loses.
In the end i decided to go with PBR, since the deadline for our project was surpassed.
I set up acl that matched every other 32 adress block:
        10 permit ip 192.168.100.32 0.0.0.31 any
        20 permit ip 192.168.100.96 0.0.0.31 any
        30 permit ip 192.168.100.160 0.0.0.31 any
        40 permit ip 192.168.100.224 0.0.0.31 any
        50 deny ip any any
Set a route map that sends that traffic trough one of the interfaces (Gi0/1) and let routing do the rest:
    track 1 interface dialer 0 line-protocol
    ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0.0 Dialer0 track 1
    ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0.0 GigabitEthernet0/1 10
Its not exactly what i wanted but its close enough:)
    Thanks for your advices.

  • Prevent Load Balancing in a Remote Desktop Services Deployment

We need to prevent two Remote Desktop Session Hosts from load balancing between each other. Currently they are load balanced and users dont have a means of ensuring they end up on a particular server. Is there anyway that we can accomplish this?

  • RDS 2008 R2 / Load Balancing, My 1st Setup. Help.

I currently have a 2008 R2 RDS server setup with around 100 people accessing, unfortunately we're starting to see 100% CPU spikes which are lasting for long periods of time making the whole RD experience painful for the end users.  I've pinpointed the
extra CPU usage to a specific program developed internally making changes to this program is not an option.
My solution is to introduce a 2nd RDS server and load balance the users between them.  My original thought was to setup a Session Broker (VM) to handle the initial connection and then that would load balance between the two physical servers.
Reading a bit more into it this is not looking like the way to go.  My best route would be to setup NLB on the two Sessions Hosts as the front end which are then connected to the Session Broker (VM).  This way after the initial connection the Sessions
Hosts should check with the Session Broker for existing connections before deciding which physical server the end users end up on.
Am I at least heading in the right direction with this setup or should I do it another way?  I also need to setup Web Access , can this be loaded on the Session Broker or do I need to do it on the physical Session Hosts and mirror the setup between
the two?  And the same for the RD Gateway or can I do this on the Session Broker as well?
    Thanks for any advice given.

    Hi,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
As you have commented that you are planning to load balance the RDSH server with RDCB, you can do the required steps for your environment. For this you need to check the following steps.
    - Install the RD Connection Broker role service on the server that you want to use to track user sessions for a farm.
    - Add the RD Session Host servers in the farm to the Session Broker Computers local group on the RD Connection Broker server.
    - Configure the RD Session Host servers in the farm to join a farm in RD Connection Broker, and to participate in RD Connection Broker Load Balancing.
    - Configure DNS round robin entries for RD Session Host servers in the farm.

  • Load Balancing Issues SOMEBODY HELP ME!!

    Good Morning.
A few days ago we implemented Load Balancing in our company, I printed a step by step procedure from MS and just follow it thinking that once I did that everything was going to be ok, but I am some issues that I managed to fix, but now I am stock in one
that I just can't figure it out, here I go.
When regular users try to connect to the Farm using the external IP they can't connect, we checked firewall seems to be ok, we check the configuration we did and we didn't miss any step, NOW here is the crazy part, when we use our Admin ID we can connect,
so I thought maybe is an Active Directory thing, but I don't know where to look or what to do so my questions are,
Can this be a licensing issue?
Do I have to have my TSBroker as part of my group of PC in the firewall?
Can it be a certificate issue? (not too sure because I can connect as an admin)
Can it be permissions to log in to the servers?
My co-worked is telling me now that if TS Broker sent them to TS1 they can connect but if TSBroker send them to the other two members of the farms they can't connect, TS1 is the original TS before this whole Load Balancing thing.
we tried so many solutions that we can find online and come up with and nothing seems to be working, so what do I do? What did I do wrong when I configure the Load balancing? is there any step beside what MS told me that I am missing...
    PLEASE HELP!!
    Thank you..

    Hi Rodrigo,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
What’s your server OS in your environment?
Firstly see that, if you have not set up RD Licensing server and don’t have RDS CAL then your administrator can only get access for RDP connection (only 2 connection for Admin purpose). Now if you want more than 2 connection you need to setup RD Licensing server,
activate it, purchase RDS CAL and install it. After installing, you need to see that your user have enough permission to access RDS server and your user must be added under “Remote Desktop User” local group under RDS Server.
As you have commented that your admin can able to connect so I think you must have the issue with user permission, please go through above points and check the result.
Please check below article for more details.

  • Load Balancing 2012 R2 Session Host Collection with External Network Load Balancer

    Hi,
We are moving from a 2008 R2 Remote Desktop session host deployment to 2012 R2. Previously, we used our Kemp hardware load balancer to distribute load between RDSH servers. We had a connection broker deployed so that if an existing disconnected session was
detected during the initial connection, the user was directed back to that session.
In 2012 R2, we planned to again used the Kemp load balancer to main high availability for our RDSH collection, but are experiencing strange issues. It seems that the RD Connection Broker is also performing load balancing--the result being that initial connections
to the RDSH collection may go to one RDSH server with the least connections through the Kemp, but then be redirected to a different RDSH server by the broker, even when there is no existing session for the user on that second server.
Our question is: Should we not be using the Kemp balancer at all (how would this work)? Or should we disable load balancing by the connection broker (if so...how)?
Further complicating our redirection issue with that the RDSH servers have multiple interfaces--one with public addresses and others with private. The connection broker seems to abritrarily pick among the destination RDSH server's available IP addresses
for the redirection and trying to redirect to a private address will fail. We think we have worked around this by connecting to each RDSH server from a 2008 R2 server's RDSH Configuration console and choosing just the public adapter under the Network Adapters
tab--is there no way to access this setting in 2012 R2?
    Thanks in advance!
    Matthew

    Hi Matthew,
As you are most likely already aware, inn Remote Desktop Services 2012 / R2 the Connection broker uses round robin DNS to load balance.
To simplify things I would recommend that you let the connection broker load balance the sessions and use the KEMP to Load balance the RDweb and Gateway servers.
Have a look at the following articles:

  • Load Balancing Microsoft RDS server

Hi there, we have two servers hosting remote desktop service roles, is there any way to setup load balancing on these two?
Say setup a pointer "xxx.rdsfarm.com"? The pointer points to two servers with round robin? We have third party LB doing load-balance work for Citrix Xenapp.
    Thanks

    Hi Ying,
Thank you for your posting in Windows Server Forum.
Can you please let me know the OS Version of RDS Server?
Yeah, you can load balance the two RDS Server and can combine with RDCB server for setting up RDS load balancing environment. Please check below article for information.
    1.  Remote Desktop Server farms explained (Part 1)
    2.  2012 R2 Load-Balanced RDS farm
To load balance sessions in an RD Session Host server farm, you can use the RD Connection Broker Load Balancing feature together with Domain Name System (DNS) round robin. To configure DNS, you must create a DNS host resource record for each RD Session Host
server in the farm that maps the RD Session Host server’s IP address to the RD Session Host server farm name in DNS.

  • LOAD BALANCER

How to find the port & host  used for load balancer in Dual stack systems. ABAP & Java.

    Thanks
As I mentioned that you can see the configured ports in your system earlier.
Now you have to decide which port you want to use and open that port in your firewall.
I am not sure which load balancer you want to configure.
Is it a hardware device or software?
In my point of view ,we have smlg configured in ABAP for load balancing.
Do you want a load balancing for web clients since you mentioned sapwebdispatcher.?

  • VPN device with dual ISP, fail-over, and load balancing

We currently service a client that has a PIX firewall that connects to multiple, separate outside vendors via IPSEC VPN. The VPN connections are mission critical and if for any reason the VPN device or the internet connection (currently only a T1) goes down, the business goes down too. We're looking for a solution that allows dual-ISP, failover, and load balancing. I see that there are several ASA models as well as the IOS that support this but what I'm confused about is what are the requirements for the other end of the VPN, keeping in mind that the other end will always be an outside vendor and out of our control. Current VPN endpoints for outside vendors are to devices like VPN 3000 Concentrator, Sonicwall, etc. that likely do not support any type of fail-over, trunking, load-balancing. Is this just not possible?

Unless I am mistaken the ASA doesn't do VPN Load Balancing for point-to-point IPSec connections either. What you're really after is opportunistic connection failover, and/or something like DMVPN. Coordinating opportunistic failover shouldn't be too much of an issue with the partners, but be prepared for lot of questions.

    PID VID :

In Wan 1 & Wan 2 I have HTTPS and HTTPS Secondary all forwarded to use Wan 2 under Protocol Binding
This however has not managed to do anything at all for my network and every computer conneceted experiences the same HTTPS irregularities at some websites.
I'm sure I must be doing something wrong, but I don't know what it is.
Both incoming connections are from the same service provider although the plans are different.
Any help with this would greatly help me stop losing my mind trying to fight with my website control panel for 10 minutes to just login and get something done.

Any ideas or advice from anyone?

  • RD Connection Broker, do I need any third party items to do load balancing?

RD Connection Broker does load balancing and session reconnect.  Are there limitations to its load balancing features? (i.e. reasons to go with a third party solution)
Also is it a stand a lone service do we need specific network/services to make it work?

  • Performance Routing (PfR) with single router, dual ISP and load balancing

It looks like PfR can do this but I have only found information about this feature which will start using ISP2 once ISP1 reaches 75% usage. But this is not load balancing.
Can we accomplish load balancing utilizing a single router with dual ISPs using this PfR feature?
Or do we have to use another feature?
    thank you in advance

I'm rusty using OER/PfR, but I recall it could load balance two links on same router.  The issue, I also recall, if doing BGP, OER/PfR has to detect a load imbalance, and there's a certain difference allowance, and OER/PfR takes some time to decide, so depending on actual traffic, it might not be obvious it's working.  If doing BGP, there's a hidden command (which I don't recall is) that will load balance the two links on the same router; then you use OER/PfR to dynamically refine the balance load.

  • VDI Broker not balancing load over hosts

    Hi,
I have a strange problem. Recently we added another host into our 2012 R2 VDI environment. We have approximately 50 desktops deployed over both hosts. The deployment of the collection and adding vm's works fine and I can see desktops from the collection
over both. When people connect it always seems to place the users on host1, never on host2.  Host1 has approx 20 desktops running with 0 on host2 right now.
I can't see any errors in the logs, and I'm a bit mystified as to why i do not get any connections on host2? How can i try and track down what it is up to?
I think i've read before that the broker uses active machines/sessions as its basis so 15 vs 0 should definitely be enough to move new sessions to host2 i would think.
    Thanks for any pointers...

    Hi David,
Thank you for posting in Windows Server Forum.
From your description it seems that there is load balance issue for host servers. The connection is not getting load balanced. I think there is some misconfiguration takes place during the configuration.
Have you configure RD RAP policy?
