10.4.4 Update Will Not Start on B&W G3
I have a Blue and White G3 (500Mhz G4 Upgrade) w/ 1GB RAM, Upgraded HD to 46.1GB, ATi RADEON 7000 PCI, Apple-installed SCSI card. This evening, I upgraded from 10.4.2 to 10.4.4, and it's caused my system to go as far as the grey Apple Logo (no spinning gear).
Ran permissions repair before SW Update; on the first restart after running Software Update, machine hung, so I rebooted to Safe Mode. Neither Disk Util nor System Prefs would launch, Finder crashed whenever I tried to open a window. I tried to reboot to single-user mode, the machine hangs at the grey Apple, and shuts down it's USB bus - I have an optical mouse attached to it, and it comes on, then goes dead. I let it sit like this for 2 hours, but nothing changed.
I REALLY don't want to have to reinstall AGAIN (did this with the 10.4.3 update, so I left it at 10.4.2 last time!). Anyone know some Mac voodoo for this one?
Thanks
No, sorry but you have helped clear up something for me. My sister has a B+W that I tried to upgrade to 10.4.3 but it hung as yours does.
I have left it at 10.4 until now as I wasn't sure if any of the updates worked - would you recommend installing the 10.4.2 update?
Funilly enough it has similar specs, G4 upgrade, upgraded HDD, Radeon 7000 and PCI ATA card. It has been suggested that the PCI cards are the problem but as the one I'm working on is a REV.A I can't go back to the built in bus, you could try removing the SCSI card - a bad answer I know but it may work. I can confirm it's not the G4 as I was unable to boot with the original G3 in place, however, we both had to patch the ROM to use a g4 so it may be this.
The reported fault on my sis's was a kernal loading error so it would appear thet kernal 8.3+ is incompatible with our particular B+Ws.
Again, apologies and thanks.

Pages 09 (updated) will not start up using Lion OSX
iWork Pages 09 (updated) will not start up using Lion OSX. It did work at one time but now it won't. I reinstalled iWork several times with updates but the applications say to reinstall or check the developer. I'm using an i-Mac Intel with updated downloads for all applications. Thank You in Advance for your thoughts to solving this concern.
What else have you been doing just before this problem started? Any other updates on the computer? If you need to reinstall iWork which some has when upgrading to Lion after a complete uninstall.
To uninstall correctly iWork, go to Yvans iDisk :
<http://public.me.com/koenigyvan>
Download :
For_iWork:iWork '09:uninstall iWork '09.zip
Expand the archive and run the script.
Now you can instal iwork again and do the updates. -

I just updated again to install Thunderbird 31.0-1 and now it is working for me. But I do not know why:

suggests that the extra lib packages were left over from the upgrade.
I cannot say why the links were incorrectly updated before. All very strange.

3 Beeps After Software Update, Will Not Start
Late 2012 Mac Mini. Updated OS X with Software Update, upon restart it is instead beeping 3 beeps in a row, silence, then 3 beeps in a row again, for hours. It's getting hot near the power cord. Screen is black. I finally powered down successfully by holding power button.
I've seen older posts saying this signals faulty RAM in Powerbooks. I did upgrade the RAM to 16 GB myself when I bought the Mac mini, it has always worked fine (apart from snowy screens when it first awakes or starts which eventually go away and I understand this update was supposed to address...).
Have I voided my warranty by installing the RAM myself?
What to do?John, thanks. I ran the Apple Hardware Test, and the memory tested fine. The three beeps at start up has not returned since the original restart after the software update, so who knows what it was...
John Galt wrote:

Rember, the free GUI front end for memtest is another memory test utility to consider.
The display may or may not be related to anything. It will be difficult to draw any conclusion without another display to substitute.
Tommy Boyo wrote:
And concerning RAM, I've noticed I can't get the Mac to ever utilize even half of it... so I don't understand what the benefit is.
Correct, there is no benefit of additional RAM unless and until your system and what you do with it requires more than you have. OS X manages its resources efficiently, and there is no way to change how it does that.
I'm still getting snow when starting or awakening the Mac when the monitor has not been recently on, so there may be some interaction between the monitor and the Mac mini. (MultiSync LCD2470 monitor.) Because when the monitor has been running for a while I can restart the Mac without getting snow, usually. Turning the monitor off and on about three or four times usually gets rid of the snowy image and I get a picture. Every now and then it will abruptly turn to complete snow after having been on for hours, so who knows... I understood the snow problems were a common problem with the Intel integrated graphics and the recent software update(s) were meant to address it. It didn't help in my case.
At least I'm back to the original functionality from before the software update... -
This has been going on for some time , I can not see how to do a clean install , and I'm not sure that it would work

I have a baloon window come up in my lower right corner of my screen (windows 7) telling me I need to update creative cloud. I click on it and the desktop tries to open, then a window overlays the desktop with a prompt to install update clicking on this both windows disappear and nothing happens. I am trying to reinstall Flash (somehow it has disappeared from my computer, I think a windows update did this.) but I'm caught in this loop. What's up? anybody got any ideas?

After new install, iTunes opens up to license agreement page, I click "Agree" and then I get an "iTunes Export" crashed report and then nothing.
I have uninstalled, both with Windows uninstall and Revo uninstaller, cleaned up with CCLeaner, restarted, re-installed and it is the same thing everytime.
I am half tempted to restore the system to the beginning of the week to see if that helps.I'm using Safari 5.0.5 and OSX 10.6.8
Your Safari version is way outdated.
Install Safari 5.1.2
Then restart your Mac.
And make sure Java is enabled in Safari > Preferences - Security -
My MBP will not start up after restart
My MBP (late 2011 running 10.8.something - receintly updated) will not start up after I had to do a restart to install Blackberry Desktop software (for my wife, I promise). It chimes, gets past the grey screen with the Apple logo and then just sits on the login screen but with the background only, no account or anything. My mouse pointer is there and moves but nothing else. Anyone have any idea?
Reboot holding the Shift key down on a wired or built in keyboard, this is Safe Mode and will disable the at boot kernel extension file that Blackberry installed.
When you get in uninstall the software using their uninstaller. Then reboot normally again, visit their website for a update if there is one.
Blackberry/RIM software has been causing issues around here lately.
If your machine refuses to boot normally again, then run through this list 1-8,, by #8 your machine should be booting normally again.
