10.4.6 Bluetooth Icon Move

Did anyone else have their Bluetooth icon on the Menu Bar move from between Airport and iChat (if you have it enabled) to between the username and spotlight?
Because mine did. And now its ******* me off that its moved.

You know you can move it yourself, right? Hold down the command key and click and drag on the icon in the menubar you want to move.

  • Bluetooth icon not showing up in menu bar

Usually, the Bluetooth icon always shows up in my menu bar upon start-up. Lately it has not been appearing. In my system preferences, the show blue-tooth icon in menu bar is checked. If I uncheck it and then check it again it shows up where it is supposed to be in the menu bar. But if I restart my Mac it is missing again. At the present time I am not using any Bluetooth devices but would like to know how to get the icon to appear every time so that I know that it is working properly. Can anybody answer my question or has anybody else noticed this? Thanks.

Choose Go to Folder from the Finder's Go menu and enter ~/Library/Preferences/ as the folder's location. Once this folder has appeared, move the item named com.apple.systemuiserver.plist to another folder, log out, and log back in.
Alternatively, add the item Bluetooth.menu in the /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/ folder to the list of login items for your account in the Accounts pane of System Preferences.

  • Bluetooth Icon w/3 dots?

I recently noticed my bluetooth icon now has 3 dots across it in the menu bar. What is this? Apple doesn't seam to know. Also my Apple mouse will pair and the button click works, but the pointer won't move. Is this because of 10.4.4 update?

    From http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107679
"B with dots - You see a B icon with three dots through it when Bluetooth is on and a paired Bluetooth device is communicating with your computer."
That means your Bluetooth device is working with the Mac.

  • Installed 10.4.7, Bluetooth icon moved?

    Hello, sorry my poor english.
I've installed Mac OS X 10.4.7 update and everything seems to be working fine.
However I've noticed one strange thing, on the Apple bar at the top of the screen, if I look at the icons on the left of the bar, the Bluetooth icon has moved from left-side of the volume icon to the left-side of the spotlight icon.
Why is that? Did it happen to everyone or just me? How can I move it back to were it was?
I've already run Disk Utility and fixed permissions but nothing changed.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I've found that I can move the top menu bar icons by holding down the Command/Apple key and click-dragging the icons to wherever I like.
BTW, your English is just fine...
    Hope that helps,

  • Bluetooth icon thingy has moved in between clock and spotlight?

Yeah, i have no idea what category the "problem" (more cosmetic than function-related) belongs... I have somehow managed to move my bluetooth icon from the left side of the time to the right side of the time (between spotlight and clock)...
    A picture:

I've talked to a rather experienced mac using friend of mine, and he has no clue of how this could have happened... According to him, it should be impossible - but I've done it anyway...
Anyone know how to move the icon back on the left side of the clock?
    Edit:
What is that row of icons called, anyways? Process Bar, like in windows?

Have you tried going into the Bluetooth Preference Pane and switiching it off and back on? Failing that, trashing the com.apple.sysmtemUIserver.plist file from the home / library / preferences folder will reset all the options up there to default.
Menu Items seems like a reasonable name?

  • Is there a way to put the bluetooth icon on the homepage?

I pair my iphone with my car when I'm driving. Is there a way to put the bluetooth icon on the homepage so I don't have to go through settings to turn the bluetooth on and off?
I don't like to leave the bluetooth on all the time because it drains the battery, but it's kinda a pain to have to go through settings everytime I want to use this feature.
On my last cell phone I could assign a "hot key" to automatically turn the bluetooth on and off. I really liked that. This bluetooth system seems a little dated to me.

    No not yet, hopfully soon.

  • No Sound from Mac Pro, however, volume icon moves up and down

Hello, I was using my 12 month old Mac Pro last night and it worked fine with sound as normal. When I powered it up today there is no sound coming from my monitor, but the volume icon moves up and down when I press the keys? I've checked in the Preference sound file and everything is set ok? I googled this problem and some people have suggested that there should not be a 'red' light showing in the digital connection on the back? However, I can see a red light, I've tried using my headphones in the front mini-jack and nothing? I disconnected the monitor audio cables restarted the Mac, there was then sound as normal if I used the sound keys. I re-connected the audio cable and it continued to play sound for 5 minutes or so, then stopped working again?

I have a problem with my Powerbook automatically muting. If you read the posts, there seem to be a lot of people having this problem and no one can explain or help.

  • Mac osx 10.4.11 removes bluetooth icon

I just installed 10.4.11 and i now have no bluetooth icon on my menu bar?? What happened to it?

I have no idea what happened to it, but you can easily get it back by going to >System Preferences...>Bluetooth>Settings>Show Bluetooth Status in menu bar.
    Good luck!

  • Greetings: I have just acquired an older mini mac (2006 1.66 ghz core 2 duo) Anyway, it had Tiger 10.4 on it and the Bluetooth worked.  I upgraded to Snow Leopard and everything works fine - except Bluetooth. The Bluetooth icon isn't there. Any ideas?

    Greetings:
I have just acquired an older mini mac (2006 1.66 ghz core 2 duo) Anyway, it had Tiger 10.4 on it and the Bluetooth worked for the wireless Apple keyboard and mouse.  I upgraded to Snow Leopard and everything works fine - everything except Bluetooth.
The Bluetooth icon does not exist in the System Preferenc screen.
I tried to download Bluetooth from Apple site but the message I got told me that I didn't need it.
Under Finder, Utilities, I found Bluetooth File Exchange but the message I got was that I had to connect a Bluetooth device to my computer.
I have to admit that I have no idea what's going on here.  I am hoping to avert the need to try another complete re-install of Snow Leopard.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

Puzzled is a polite word for it.
Thanks Barry - I found the file and trie to send it to trash.  The response: (This item cannot be trashed as it it owned by the system).
After dancing around with PRAM and SMC and turning on while holding the power-cntrl-option-shift and heavens knows what else, I now have the Bluetooth symbol on the top of the menu bar but it is ghoseted and has a squiggly line through it.   This, I didn't have before so I read this as some progress.  It notes that "Bluetooth is not available">
However, the Bluetooth icon is still missing from the System Preferences window - you know, between "network" and "sharing".
You note that you reckon the issue is not software based and you may be correct.  The reason that I wonder about that though, is that before I installed Snow Leopard, the keyboard and mouse both paired with the box under the Tiger 10.4.  That leads me to conclude that hardware is functional and that there is some screwy little bit of software that is not cooperating.
If I could delete Bluetooth from the system and re-install a fresh version, that might help.  Or, is there a way I can use the Snow Leopard install disc and only load in Bluetooth?
    I'm stumped.
    Thanks for your time
    /Bill C.

  • Why do I have a blinking Bluetooth icon?

After months of using my MacBook Pro, it has developed an annoying tic. The icon next to the blue "Search" icon at the top right of my screen is blinking. It goes from a black diamond against the white bar, to a black battery with a different icon on it. However, I'm not getting the usual notice that the batteries are low in my Apple wireless mouse or keyboard. When I position the mouse over it, I get a Bluetooth menu that shows both my wireless devices, says Bluetooth is turned on, and gives me some other choices--none of which seem to need any attention.
Does anybody know why this annoying blinking has started and how I can turn it off? Thanks, Chris

    Hi, cfinnie.
As you note, and per "Bluetooth: About Bluetooth Icons," that indicates a low battery in either your Apple wireless keyboard or mouse.
    1. Try checking the battery level in these devices: see "Apple Wireless Keyboard and Apple Wireless Mouse: How to Check the Battery Level."
    2. You could try fresh batteries in each just as a test.
    Good luck!

Yes....It happens all the time. I also erased my HD and installed Snow Leopard but with no success. Tried lots of REBOOTING but nothing worked for me.As I have already installed the new OSX I think there is no need to go through the below procedure. What do you suggest?
Before you go through the ritual of reinstalling the entire system just try to do a "factory reset" of your bluetooth environment. To do this you need to run the Bluetooth Explorer which is a utility installed as part of XCode.
    1. Launch Bluetooth Explorer.
    2. Select the "Modify Software & Device Configuration" from the Utilities menu.
    3. Keep the first 4 checkboxes checked (one will say "Full factory reset").
    4. Click "Perform actions" button (lower right of window).
    5. Reboot (possibly the Reboot NOW button will work, if not just do a normal reboot).
Hopefully that will clear your problem(s) so you can re-pair your bluetooth devices.
    Good luck.

  • Get rid of the Bluetooth icon

I migrated my account from my powerbook to mini, trouble is i don't have bluetooth installed on my mini and the bluetooth icon on the top right corner is also 'migrated'. so the icon would show as grey and read 'not available'. if i try to open bluetooth to disable the icon, it would say 'no device detected' and then automatically shut off.
is there anyway to get rid of that icon at all? thanks!

Command-Click Icon-Drag-Poof! is the real easiest.
Hold Cmd key. Click and hold on the menubar item you wish to remove. Drag away from the menu bar. Watch the poof.

  • What is the icon in the toolbar to the left of the Bluetooth icon?th

There appears to be a new icon in the toolbar on my iPad. It is located to the left of the bluetooth icon. It appears to be a padlock within a clockwise-oriented arrow. Anyone know what this represents? Thx

Screen Orientation lock you can remove that by using the button next to the volume.

  • Bluetooth icon GONE

My wireless Mouse stopped working - figured it was the mouse so grabbed another wireless and it would not find it either.  Restarted the computer and then went to 'Mouse' and it says to connect USB mouse.  Finally (after looking at my iMac preferences) figured out that the Bluetooth icon, which is suppose to be in the "Internet & Wireless" area of the System Preferences is gone on my laptop.  Any suggestions?  Gayle

Problem solved!  After reading and reading - I finally posted my question and then found a similar discussion, shut my laptop off, instead of restarting - started it up again and there was my icon!  Whew!

  • Bluetooth Icon in the Menubar gone

    Hi,
sometimes when the computer stars, the Bluetooth Icon in the Menubar doesn't appear. If I go to the bluetooth preferences panel it says it's on and the show menubar icon is checked. I've got to recheck it to see the icon again in the menubar. The icon shows up until maybe weeks later when it doesn't and I don't know why.
How can the icon show up always????

    Hmmm, sometimes!?
At this point I think you should get Applejack...
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...
    applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
The 5 things it does are...
    Correct any Disk problems.
    Repair Permissions.
    Clear out Cache Files.
    Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
First reboot will be slower, sometimes 2 or 3 restarts will be required for full benefit... my guess is files relying upon other files relying upon other files!
We have more if that doesn't work.
