10.4.6 - Is it really installed?

I first attempted to update my TiBook using Software Update. The download completed and the installation started, whereupon I got an unspecified error. The message said the move the Package from the Trash and run the update again. I did and Installer gave me a similar error, essentially that the update was not completed due to "an error."
Once in, I got errors in Office apps such as:
The application, "Entourage" could not be launched because of a shared library: "<Microsoft Entourage><CarbonLib><CFMPriv_LaunchServices>"
I rebooted to Single user and ran Applejack. The file system need some repair, but was deemed fixed after two passes. I completed all tasks and rebooted. Now I get the back-to-back reboots as warned.
Settled in OK. Ran Update package. Same error. Now though Office apps launch w/o error and seem OK.
Question: Though About This Mac shows 10.4.6, how can I be sure it is completely done. The Installer never got past ~two-thirds complete.

ok, found a way to delete iTunes from terminal
sudo -rf /Applications/iTunes
then i can run the installer for iTunes 10.7...

Can I really Install SAP ECC 6.0 SR3

Hello Experts,
I have a question, I am an amateur and need your expert advice regarding installation of SAP R3 on my laptop. My question is that If I install SAP on my laptop would I be able to practice it anywhere even without the Internet? I am new in SAP FICO and willing to give all my time to learn it. I have 12 points in my account(not a lot I know, but that's all I have), I'll give all these points to someone who can take this time out and explain me how do I do this.

Hope you are aware that you can download trail versions of various SAP Netweaver releases here [Downloads|http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/nw-downloads].
Am not really sure how helpful they could be for practicing FICO, as these trail version may not contain most of the standard SAP transactions.
Another option is to install a IDES, which is definitely possible for the configuration you have in your laptop. You may have to look around in your area where you can get it installed . (Should be easy if you are in India).

[SOLVED] How to really install Open VMware Tools?

I tried the steps shown in the wiki, but it's not working at all. I have Arch+KDE installed in VMware Player 5. The steps I followed for the installation of VMware tools are:
pacman -S open-vm-tools open-vm-tools-modules
systemctl enable vmtoolsd.service
But after a reboot the Tools doesn't seem to work properly, even If I try to restart with the tools enabled the systems hangs on the process.
Some help will be really appreciated.

There are some known issues regarding the current versions of the open VMWare tools, check this topic.
The steps you took provide minimal functionality, at least keeping the clock in sync with the host and handling screen resizing. For copy and paste and shared folders, the wiki has some additional info.
The system seems to hang on reboot, but proceeds normally after about 90 seconds (it's how long systemd waits before forcefully killing the vmtoolsd daemon).
Some tips to work around current issues:
- don't use the latest version of xorg-server (use xorg-server 1.13.0-3 instead)
- issue a 'killall -9 vmtoolsd; systemctl poweroff' to power off the system

How to really install GEF, EMF and VE plug-ins in Eclipse manually?

If someone works with Eclipse, please, help me.
I want to install the Visual Editor for Eclipse (VE) manually, not by the Eclipse Update Manager. But before I do that I know I have to install GEF and EMF. So, I downloaded the versions that are compatible with my version of Eclipse (Eclipse 3.1RC1). The versions are (according to the VE site - www.eclipse.org/ve):
EMF build I200506091102
GEF Build 3.1RC1
VE 1.1M2
In my computer the Eclipse is in Program files\eclipse. So, I extracted the GEF zip file in Program files as the documentation says, looked at the directory and the files were really extracted to there. So, I opened Eclipse and checked in Plug-in Details if it was installed, but it wasn't. I did the same with EMF and I got nothing too.
What am I doing wrong? How can I install these plug-ins manually?
If someone can help me, I would appreciate a lot.

If eclipse itself is stored in /foo/eclipse, the plugins need to be extracted and
installed in /foo/eclipse/plugins. Then start (using a shell/command line
interpreter) eclipse as follows: "eclipse -clean". This flag forces eclipse
to (re)check what plugins are installed.

How do I know they really installed 2 GB of RAM?

Here's what happened and why I ask:
Computer is back home after spending the better part of a month in an authorized Apple service center shop. Took it in to upgrade RAM from 250 MB to 2 GB. A routine procedure I was told that would take no more than an hour. It's been a computer nightmare.
First, the shop had "issues" installing the RAM. Then, while trying to do so, the logic board "failed." They got a new logic board. Brought it home. Trouble and back in. Incredibly, that logic board failed. Installed another one. More problems, highlighted by "kernel panics," the CD drawer not opening, and other things. Back to the shop where they say everything's been fixed. CD drawer needed a "new cable." Don't know what they did to fix the logic board/RAM thing. All things thoroughly checked and machine is working perfectly. Incidentally, I was not charged for any of these "extra, unanticipated" things.
I don't know yet whether the computer is really fixed. Starting to use it to see if it really works. After about a day.....no apparent problems. We'll see. But,
How do I really know they actually installed the 2 GB of RAM. The reason I ask is that after one trip in and back home, I noticed that the computer's serial number did not show up in the "About this Mac" and the Macintosh HD info window. After telling them that, next time I brought it home, sure enough ... the was the serial number showing where it was supposed to.
Appears to me they knew how to type it in and did so. Couldn't they do the same thing with the RAM info? Because the computer seems to be working ok after one day, could they have taken out the 1 GB RAM chips or boards or whatever they're called (because they just didn't work), and re-installed the 256 MB one? Then just typed in the info for 2 GB RAM boards in the "More Info" window of "About this Mac."
And...........I notice no difference with the apparent 2 GB of RAM compared to 256 MB. Shouldn't I realize something? More speed in working with applications? Or something? How do I know they actually installed 2 GB of RAM?

(Obviously, not I'm not a computer whiz.....don't know a logic board from a chess board–although I've learned it's a pretty important component.)

Firefox is free (Mozilla/Firefox) and in some cases it appears to work
quickly for some web content; I use both, Firefox mostly, then Safari.
GarageBand can be a CPU-intensive application; depending on what
you are doing with it. Composing music and layering effects could do it.
To supplement chip RAM, you'd likely need a larger capacity hard disk
drive and leave more free space for both the application to run and also
to have room for larger demands of the system; virtual memory mainly.
Newer drives also have larger buffers, so one with a 16MB buffer could
also add some speed too. The stock 80GB drive 1/2 full could be slow
since your computer would be read/writing more often to the drive as it
is used more and more as virtual memory and also to record changes
to your GarageBand music compositions; plus normal system demands.
Of course, you could use an external FireWire enclosure and put a much
larger hard disk drive into that; large enough for a full system clone and
then boot from the external when doing things such as GarageBand; the
work you do would be saved to the external and its system would be
like having a second computer, booted and running from the FW HDD.
There may be better ways of doing this; one may be to consider a Mac
with faster bus, processor, RAM type and speed, among other upgrades.
Upgrades involving service tech access to the iMacG4's base unit are
to be done in the proper way so as to be sure the thermo paste and other
safeguards in the cooling system (heat scavanging is essential) are
restored properly when the machine is reassembled. Some upgrades to
these computers can add more heat-generating capacity, so cooling is
essential to reduce the odds of probable failure from overheating; since
the processor, more RAM, and a busy hard drive add up.
If the machine is used in a warm room (a dusty/smokey environment)
these details will add to higher heat output of the computer; in that
it won't be as cool as it could be. Of course, in this matter, you could
get a sensitive thermometer with a sensor and put the sensor near the
computer's air output to get a second comparative heat gauge on it.
Not just the Temperature Monitor software's take on internal heat.
If the machine should overheat, it will affect more than the recordings;
and how the computer's resources are allocated to tasks and the effic-
iencies (or lack of) in how they are used will affect applications, do have
an impact in a wider range of overall machine health.
The Activity Monitor can help, in that you can monitor and see what is
going on inside the computer and maybe control system resource use
by not multi-tasking when using a major application. There may be a
way to allocate system resources to your primary application in use,
but in OSX that is fairly automatic (unlike older OS9's RAM use.)
In Discussions, there is an area for Application discussions and
perhaps more detailed replies from knowledgeable users of Garage
Band would be generated from questions you may have, in there(?)

Help!!! A game stops in installing state. But it also is downloading. Not really installing.

I've been downloading a 1.6GB game called "Order &Chaos Online" for three days. Two third of the process is completed. I mean like this. A game or an app can be installed offline when there is 'Installing' label. But for me now, there is 'Installing' label. But I needed to connect to wifi and it's not installing. It's downloading again. I don't know what it is downloading. It's on iPhone 5S, 7.0.2. Any help? Please!!

10.3 will download and install, but dosen't really install

So I downloaded the 10.3 iTunes Beta and installed it. I do not get any errors when it installs but when I reopen iTunes it is still the 10.2 version. Why wont it update?

It states that Lion is installing but see nothing to show activity. Is it installing?

Me, too. It appears to have started. The Lion icon jumped into the dock. The Lion app page on the App Store says 'installing', the progress bar on the Lion icon has a bit of blue in it. But it's been that way for 40 mins and shows no real progress. Any ideas? I clean installed SL beforehand; there's nothing on the machine. is Apple's server overwhelmed, perhaps?

then get the language pack ISO named "mu_windows_8_language_pack_x64_dvd_917544" (just google it).
so even if you have EN-US installed, RSAT tools won't show. here's how:
1. in a cmd prompt, as administrator run "dism /online /ad-package /packagepath:D:\langpacks\en-us\lp.cab", where D: is the drive letter where you mounted the ISO of the language pack that you googled
2. once above is done, reboot
3. then reinstall the RSAT installer again
4. reboot
once the four steps above are done, you'll find the RSAT tools for Windows 8.

Installed application not really installed?!

Hi guys,
i got a very strange and annoying problem here. I installed handbrake with pacman w/o any errors but it doenst show up anywhere.
locate gives 0 results and there are no entrys of it anywhere.
Things i tried:
pacman -Scc
pacman-optimize
directly installed the pkg from ftp.archlinux.org
also there are no bugs about it and the pkgbuild looks fine to me
I experienced similar things with virtualbox from AUR, but i thought that was AUR related.

If you haven't figured it out yet, or to make things easier for others who have the same problem, the gtk executable is located at /usr/bin/ghb. I don't know why the developers decided to call the executable "ghb"--it seems like a pretty stupid idea to me. The following command should set you straight:
sudo ln -s /usr/bin/ghb /usr/bin/handbrake

How do I REALLY install Bundle 13??

I have spent the better part of the week downloading & getting no where. I've spent 10/21 & now 10/22 trying to get Chat help to no avail. I have at least 1 case number # 0186024139 but no one to give it to.
10/19 I first did the download with Akamai, it took hours, then "Installer failed to initialize. Download support adviser”. When I click & go to the page it said the support adviser is no longer available!
10/20/14 I did as I was told & went to the download trial http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/tdrc/index.cfm?product=photoshop_elements&loc=en&promoid=DJDV B, left the computer on all night downloading the Elements bundle, using the older installer, only to discover once again the "Installer failed message" and I already know that the support adviser is no longer available!
So what do I do???? I read through some pages on trouble shooting, I don't get error codes.
Can you please send me the actual DVD for Bundle 13. How else can I install it? Any suggestions??

Satellite A300-15M - Can I install a second HDD?

Hi there.
I own a SatelliteA300-15M. I bought the laptop 2 years ago. I have already 250GB hard drive which came with the laptop. Recently I got my laptop serviced from local shop. I noticed that it has an additional slot for another hard drive. I saw a post that some of the A300/A305 laptops have the space for second hard drive but not the connectors.
If anyone owns A300-15M can they please tell me if i can install a second internal hard drive in my model? Is there a sure way to find if I can really install a second hard drive?

So the case is claer: If you dont have a second SATA connector, you cant install a second HDD.
Check also the forum regarding such questions. The point is that one notebook series (e. g. Satellite A300) is always equipped with the same case but the hardware is different. So not all models have the same features. ;)

You are referring to OFFICE 2010, not Windows XP or 7.
And which version of Windows do you have?
NEVER begin before you have a backup, ideally one you have tested and know works.
You don't really install Boot Camp, the Assistant is a partition tool utility.
You may just want Office 2008 for Mac.
If you need Office for Windows, perhaps run Windows in a VM like Parallels or Fusion.
Buy some backup drives and start using TimeMachine for one backup, then weekly backup with SuperDuper.
IF there is now a partition for Windows, all you need is to buy Windows, and I would recommend Windows 7 Home Premium (retail) which is about US$149.
Has nothing to do with free space. Office 2010 isn't to boot from. In fact, you can copy the disc to a folder (1.25GB) and run SETUP from there.

Macbook Pro Retina EFI update 1.2 doesn't clear from software update list after installing

I've had this problem for a few weeks.
I install the update via the App Store, the system restarts, but afterwards I get a notice from the App Store that the same update needs to be installed. If I look further down the list of installed items it does record the update as being installed, but I'm not sure if it was really installed.
Note: I have tried to install the update manually w/o the App Store, but I still get a notice from the App Store after restart that the update needs installing.
This isn't huge deal, but it's kind of annoying that I'm not sure if the update was installed or not, and frankly, my OCD kicks in whenever I see that this update is still not clearing from the list of items to be installed.
By the way, the update has to do with the nvidia card not losing performance after the computer wakes up.
