10.4.6 update boogers primarily affecting Entourage

I updated to 10.4.6 yesterday with mixed results. Most things are fine, and after some research on these boards my Airport connectivity issues (using Belkin router) seem to be resolved.
Here's my observations, please CHIME IN if you have an idea on whats up:
-- After update, I am having issues with connectivity to my company's exchange server. Normally I connect over VPN Tracker, but now I am having flaky issues (Error 170) in ENTOURAGE where it is failing. I haven't diagnosed where the issue lies, but I am confident it is between VPN tracker and Entourage as I have ruled out passwords, server addys, etc...
-- Update makes Mac OS X aware of United States Daylight Savings Time (DST) changes enacted by the Energy Policy Act of 2005. This makes ENTOURAGE have unexpected behavior where calendar entries (and anything else using timestamps) have funny flags identifying date issues.

I recently updated a G5 to 10.4.6 and Entourage stopped working. Get error message "The Server can't be found. Make sure the mail server information is entered in the account manager and that your DNS Settings in the Network Control Panel are correct..." Error -3176
Entourage worked under 10.3.9. None of the settings for the Entourage user account have been changed. I can ping the Exchange server successfully. If you have any ideas I would appreciate any help.

  • I did not update my iPad 3 with the last update, will that affect me updating to IOS 6?

I did not update my iPad 3 with the last update, will that affect me updating to the new IOS 6? Will I get all the updates I missed in the previous update if I update to IOS 6. If not, tell me where to go to get the last update before I update to IOS 6. I thought I had time before this new one came out. Thanks for any help I get.

You can update directly to iOS 6 now. Not updating to iOS 5.1.1 does not matter. If you have updated the iPad before, you know what to do.

  • ITunes latest update 10.5 affects Snow Leopard OSX 10.6.8

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)I have a couple year old Macbok pro with Intel Processor. I am running the latest version of Snow Leopard 10.6.8.  After updating to the new iTunes version 10.5, two of my three USB Jump drives would no longer function. The INFO showed I had about 50% of the space still available. Errors included "out of available space and somrthing about corrupt data. After spending hours on the phone with Apple Support, I ended up reinstalling the OSX Operating System This did not fix the problem. Turns out my third jump drive worked just fine. The difference between the jump drives was the first two were formatted FAT16. The third was formatted FAT32. After using the OSX Disc Utility to reprogram the first two drives to FAT32 they worked just fine. SO BEWARE!! The iTunes update to 10 seems to have affected the OSX Operating System compatability and now FAT32 is required. I am not a very experienced Mac User so perhaps there will be some posts about this that will explain what may really be happening here.

This is one of the most confusing problems I have ever read.
First you say you have upgraded from 10.5 (Leopard) to 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
Then you say that "About this Mac" says you have 10.9.1 (Mavericks).
Then you again say you upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6.
The only thing that seems to make sense of this, and what I suspect is you got confused, thought you had 10.5/10.6 and borked your Safari install by running an old updater for Safari 5.
That, or you have an old copy of Safari sitting somewhere, and you are trying to run that instead of the one in the Applications folder.
v5.1.10 is the last version of Safari for 10.6 (Snow Leopard), though some dev previews of 6 could be installed.
v6.1.1 is the current version for OS X 10.7 (Lion) and 10.8 (Mountain Lion).
v7.0.1 is the current version and it requires OS X 10.9 (Mavericks).

  • Bored of every update duplicating contacts in Entourage

Okay, I'm bored with the fact that every time I install an update to I-Tunes or the I-Phone every contact in Entourage is duplicated, including holidays. I now have each day of Ramadan and every other religious or secular holiday showing up 5-6 times on both my laptop and my phone, and regular appointments/events at least twice.
The only way I have found to address this is to individually delete the extra listings, and I am thoroughly tired of doing this, especially since it has to be done so often. There MUST be a better way!
    Please advise.

If you can wait about a 3 months after 10.8 is released this summer and upon new hardware you should be in excellent shape to have not only a fastest latest machine, but a OS X version that all the bugs have been worked out. Plus the three free months of Apple hand holding while they figure out what they did wrong with the new OS version.
If you need a new machine now you'll have to get what you need obviously, but 10.8 should run on it just fine. However know that Apple tweaks things with more currently sellling hardware first, then later gets to the previous released models.
It's been my guestimation that your good for about two year old hardware with very recent OS X release, three years or older hardware you may want to reconsider sticking with the previous OS X version as your hardware is getting dated and likely has only a year left to go anyway (4 year average), so why bother mucking it up, slowing it down and having to buy all new/updated software and third party hardware because they won't make drivers for your new OS version?

  • Installed 2nd Security Update and lost ALL ENTOURAGE Accounts

    Help!
I installed the second of 2 security updates from apple.
The first one caused safari to crash on certain web pages, the second update released last night was installed, I then restarted the computer as required and when it turned back on, All my Entourage Email accounts (4), 4,000+ emails that were categorized in folders all gone and it is running the initial setup..Also, entourage is very slow to start, it bounced about 7 times, then slowly opens and acts like its my first time.
I am freaking out! Is anyone having the same problem?
Can anyone help? Is so it would be Greatly appreciated,
    Thank you,
    Paul

Never mind   Restored my phone and got my contacts back!

  • LAST ITUNES UPDATE SEEMS TO AFFECT EMAIL

Prior to this latest issue, can anyone tell me why the Authentication for email changes of its own free will? I choose password, then go to retrieve emails, and it doesn't, so I check the Authentication menu and sure enough, it's jumped off password. This has been an annoyance since day one with this phone - and I haven't seen a single post on it. All of my friends and colleagues come to me because I'm one of the few Mac guys at work - and this is a universal problem.
The most recent iTunes update is also problematic with emails. Every iPhone user at work has related the same problem - no or partial retrieval of emails, inability to send emails - incredibly slow with full bars across the board. I have hard reset at least 50 - no exaggeration - times in the last three days and I'll get one or two. I asked our IT dept if they did anything to the server, and they have not.
Not only annoying, but a real problem that needs to fixed sooner than immediately.

Hey Bro, I was so ****** at this issue, that when I found the answer, I wanted to make sure as many of you could experience it as possible. So here you go...this is from John Lockwood... now go & post it for someone else too!! Topher
My laptop has a mute button on the keyboard which
does work in general. I just installed iTunes
7.1.1.5. When I am playing music and I hit the
keyboard "mute" button, the computer mutes for a
second and then unmutes - so the mute button
(essentially) does nothing. This problem has only
occured since I upgraded (I did not have this problem
with previous versions) and does not occur when
either iTunes is paused or iTunes is not open at all.
This problem was introduced in iTunes 7.1 (or possibly reintroduced). It certainly did not affect 7.0. It only happens when iTunes is running and is NOT the front-most Application.
It really hacked me off when this happened because I normally leave iTunes running in the background while running Media Center 2005. iTunes can then share the library across my network and also automatically download podcasts.
The culprit is a DLL in the iTunes application and is in the following location…
    C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesKeyboardCompatibility.dll
I initially tried iTunes 7.1.1 (did not fix it), then a couple of third party tools for remapping media keys which claimed to help (but did not), and finally bit the bullet and tried another tip which is to replace the above DLL file with a folder using EXACTLY the same name including the .dll extension. This does work and I can now use the Microsoft Media Center remote control to mute the volume etc. even with iTunes running in the background.

  • Mac Mini i7 After Yosemite update, sleep mode affecting internet connection

    Hi,
I got a Mac Mini i7 for July 2014 everything was awesome.  On Monday, October 27th 2014, I notice the port where my Mac Mini is connected, the light is amber colour.  When this happens there's no internet connection for the Mac Mini and affects the router has it slows the connection.  After doing the following:
    1. Turn off Modem for 20mins (hard reset)
    2. Turn off Router for 20mins (hard reset)-Router Netgear WNDR4000
    3. Set Service Order
    4. Change Ethernet Cable
    5. Renew the DHCP
I found out the when the Mac Mini goes to sleep mode thats when connections drops.  I test where i set it to 1min and voila the port is now amber colour.
I don't want to keep the Mac Mini i7 in "never" status has it decrease life.
Put hard disk to sleep when possible and Wake for network access are checked.
Of course before the update, everything was working fine.  Any ideas is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Retsel Adrec

    Re-installing Yosemite fixed this problem.
    Thanks.

  • Template updates won't affect child pages

I have deleted a broken navbar (with spry menu) on my template that won't leave the child pages. I have repeatedly gone to Modify -> Library -> Update Pages, but the child pages still show the broken navbar.
Most of them, anyway. I haven't checked all 50+ pages, but I did find a few that updated properly and no longer have the defective navbar. The majority, though, won't drop it.
How can I rid my pages of this?! The navbar is (was?) in a non-editable region, so I can't go into the child pages to delete it. And there's nothing left to edit from the template -- I've deleted all the offending code, so there's nothing there to even check.

Thank you, Murray. Somehow, I resolved the problem. Not sure what I did to correct it, or what I did to muck it up in the first place. But in the end, I was able to free up all but one of the pages. So I just copied the content and built a new page.
    Thanks again.

  • Does the 7.1 update battery issue affect only the 5s?

I have a 4s, bought in Oct '13, running IOS 7.0.4 with only one third-party app (Twitter).
The 7.1 update was pushed down to my phone earlier this month, but I haven't installed it yet because of the widespread battery drainage problems that came with it.
All the reports I've seen of 7.1-related battery issues have come from 5s owners. Would anyone know if this issue has been reported on the 4s?
    TIA.

Glad that a Restore as New resolved your issue...

thinking something may have gotten tweaked by someone here. the canvas
screen is no longer updating when navigating the timeline. it works fine

#44: FCP acting weird - Trash Prefs
Shane's Stock Answer #44: FCP acting weird or unusual. Just not like is normally should
If the program was working fine, and now isn't, or just isn't working the way it should, the first things to do are:
    1) Trash your FCP preferences. Download the Preference Manager from Digital Rebellion: http://www.digitalrebellion.com/pref_man.htm
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/trashing_fcpprefs.html
    2) Open the Disk Utility and Repair Permissions.
    3) Shut down for 10 min. Go for a quick walk around the block and get SOME exercise today. Come back, turn on the computer and see how things are.
    4) (optional) Do the Hokey Pokey and turn your self about. Results may vary.

  • Is Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.06 Affecting My Drivers?

After installing Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.06 and booted in windows 7, I can hear the windows startup sound but there is no display. After rebooting using the last good know config, I was able to login into windows but my ethernet and bluetooth are not working. In the device manager,
Ethernet and bluetooth device status: This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers required for this device. (Code 31)

Maybe. I don't know. I was able to use my ethernet before the update. After the update, I am facing these driver issues. My ethernet adapter cannot be found in the list of network connections.

  • Why does updated template not affecting other pages?

I changed the organization's address on the template's footer section and clicked "apply template to pages" under "modity-->template".  This should change the address in other pages.  But it had no effect.  What didn't I do right?

Just to verify, you're talking about your local files, right? Templates do nothing on a server is the reason I ask.
Simply saving a change to a .dwt template will update any child page that was created using it. You shouldn't need to go into any menu to make the child pages update.
My guess would be that the template .dwt has been moved out of the DW generated Templates folder in your local site root.

  • Will update from Tiger affect Automatic Software Update?

    Hi guys.
It's my first question here. I purchased a MacBook approx 3 years ago from Apple Store which got Tiger(10.4.11) installed.
I would like to update to Snow Leopard because I need to upgrade from Adobe CS3 to CS5. My question is if I buy the Snow Leopard disc from Apple Store and upgrade from Tiger will automatic software update and other stuff work?
    Appreciate your help.

    Chubbs75 wrote:

If you are asking if Software Update will automatically update Snow Leopard & other Apple-supplied software to the latest versions during or immediately after the upgrade, the answer is no. The upgrade should preserve whatever preferences you set for Software Update in Tiger, so depending on them you may see no automatic update notifications, notifications only after the interval for checks you have set has elapsed, or whatever.
Remember that it is highly recommended that you backup your HD, or at least your important data, before applying any upgrade or update. If you do that, you may want to run Software Update as soon as you verify that the upgrade went as expected, & let it recommend & install all the updates your system needs to bring it up to date.

  • I have windows 7 installed under bootcamp. Will updating to Lion affect it?

    As the topic says ^^

Shouldn't have a problem, but when you download the Lion installer, don't install it right away.
Click on the icon in the Dock and "Show in Finder" then right click on that and "show package contents"
Read here to copy the dmg installer, make multiple copies and burn disks in Disk Utility, you can then hold c and reboot off the installer disk and use disk utility and install Lion, it's faster than a internet download install from the Recovery partition that needs your id and all that to be current.
