Did you power the book off while in the middle of a boot? 10.4.6 includes firmware updates...you may have hozed your hardware.
Maybe you can reset your pram?
I know you've read this before...but questions that say "it didn't work...whats wrong" usually don't get much help. You've got to at least try to sumarize what the problem is.

It does sound like you might have a faulty video connection. See if you can make a Genius Bar appointment at your local Apple Store.

I just bought an IBook G4 in perfect condition, but I cannot get it to connect to my wireless. The IBook came with all the original cables, CDs, Books and packaging.., Like I said perfect condition. It was sold as having Airport Extreme, but I don't know how to make sure it is Airport Extreme.
I know the password is correct and the wireless system works on my other computers (PCs) . It picks up my wireless network, but I get a prompt that tellls me the password is not correct. I have set it to WAP... I tried WEP but was told it should be WAP... I even took it to my son's home this weekend and got the same results from his wireless connection.
Any suggestions would be appreciated

Your iBook is younger than mine. I have an iBook G4. 800MHzPower PC G4 processor.256K level 2 cache. 256MB of DDR SDRAM; supports up to 640MB.
This unit did NOT have an AE card preinstalled. I purchased that at an Apple Store and they did the install for me. The iBook ran OS 10.3.3 out of the box. I know it was on the Internet via ABES g standard on a dial up AOL connection thanks to Tesserax on the Airport forum.
My iBook is now running 10.3.9. It was on the Internet with 10.3.4 mayb even 10.3.3. Can't remember. The only reason I went to 10.3.9 was for a printer istall.
We purchased an iBook G4 exactly like yours for a friend. There was a noticible speed bump on that one. I set it up for our friend and there was no difficulty getting on the Internet with it here at my home or his.
Have you been able to connect to the Internet at a hotspot? Just trying to cover all the bases.

What needs to happen is for any sample analysis that has a sample_type of "C" we need the effective date to be the first of the month for whatever month the sample date is and keep the time as it is…
so in the example data the effective date should be 2013/07/01 09:00:00.

You don't need to convert to a string and back again to do that. Use TRUNC to get the right day, and date arithmetic to get the right time, like this:
UPDATE fc_gq_source_analysis
SET     effective_date = TRUNC (sample_date, 'MONTH')
                             + (sample_date - TRUNC (sample_date))
WHERE   sample_type = 'C'
TRUNC (sample_date, 'MONTH')        is midnight on the 1st of the month that you want.
sample_date - TRUNC (sample_date)   is the time that you want, expressed as a number of days (e.g., 9/24 of a day).

Well, to paraphrase the old line, "What're you gonna believe, that email or your own lying eyes?"
The first thing I'd recommend trying is to power down your iPad (press & hold Sleep/Wake until the red OFF slider appears, then slide it to shut down), and then boot it back up and try again. You're resetting a bunch of state signals by doing that and this simple action (the first of a series recommended by Apple in your Users Guide) will quite often clear up these sorts of problems.

What I ended up having to do was open up the Font book & remove duplicates. I knew it was Arial that was causing the problem, so I deleted the duplicate of that font. Inadvertantly I deleted all the Arial regular font, so I had to reinstall one copy. That was the solution. Thanks!

IPhone status is Updated just now but a lot of images are grey placeholders

Good part: I have a big library (~50K photos and ~1K videos). Switched to iCloud Photos on all my macs, work ok, took several days to upload everything but look good.
Bad part: on my iPhone I also enabled iCloud Photos Library (optimized storage), for some time it was showing "Preparing...", then "Downloading..." but now it says "Updated just now", like it's done. But the problem is that a lot of images are just grey placeholders and convert to an image only when I open specific Moment and wait there. Also, the phone shows spinner at the top all the time, like it's downloading something. And the things spinning both in Wi-Fi and LTE.
It looks like the Photos app on iPhones continues downloading, while system preferences status says it's all good.
This is how it looks, to make it clear - status is "Updated just now", but there are a lot of empty placeholders.
Any comments?

If add-ons are so important to you, remember to check for add-on compatibility before upgrading. (See image below)
Bookmark your add-ons pages (addons.mozilla.org) and check their compatibility before upgrading Firefox.
The other option is to [[Install an older version of Firefox]] compatible with your add-ons.

Have you tried deleting it from the iBooks app and redownloading it via the Purchased link in the ibookstore in the iBooks app ? Re-downloading.
If you have the same problem after re-downloading it then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find that book and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

Double click the home button and swipe up the messages app to stop it, then open the app again. This pretty much completely stops the process and freshly opens it again, resolving problems at times. I have had this happen before as well on my iPad, I get a banner, check messages, and nothing new is there.
If that doesn't work, close the app like suggested above, but then restart the phone by holding down the home and lock button for 10-15 seconds until the apple logo appears.

It doesn't appear to affect every 4S. I don't know if theres specific batches it affects or maybe its location based, but i have a friend who has the same phone as me and theirs did exactly the same thing only after doing the firmware update. I'm pretty confident it is a bug. Looking around on google, it seems like its happening to a lot of other 4S users.
I have done a settings reset, didn't fix it. Did a settings and content reset, didn't fix it. Did a full recovery back to the backup i did when i first purchased it, didn't fix it. None of these things changes the firmware.
I am pretty appalled that apple would release a firmware upgrade with such an obvious problem for 4S users. Did they not test it first? Now i am finding multiple texts from people asking me things hours after they messaged me because the sounds don't work. Not impressed.

Can I use my G5's DVD drive, to update my non-DVD iBook's OS via network?

Okay, here is the thing, I recently erased my old iBook's HD for a clean start. And I want to update its OS back to what it was. The problem is, to get it back to speed I would need a DVD reader in it for it to work with my 10.4 updater disc. My iBook does not have DVD capability.
I was wondering, how could I run the installer/updater from my Dual 2.7 Power PC G5's DVD ROM for it to update my iBook's OS via an ethernet network.
I have very little experience setting up a network, but I have managed to get the basics down. Thanks to the help of some basic how-to websites, I was able to link my computers up to drop files into each others' drop boxes. So, I have that much basic knowledge. But how do I use one computers DVD-rom drive to update my non-DVD-ROM iBook's OS from the updater DVD? It seems possible to me; almost as if I were using an external DVD-rom. Any suggestions? Hi, and welcome to Apple Support Communities.
A little bit of an explanation: Mac OS X 10.6 requires a Mac with an Intel processor. Mac OS X 10.5 is the last version of the operating system which runs on PowerPC processors (the type of processor in all iBooks). Mac portables with the newer (and Mac OS X 10.6-capable) Intel processors include the MacBook and MacBook Pro.
Not all iBooks are able to run Mac OS X 10.5, either.

I've just done a search for sidecar, but no results, strange...
Do I take it the only way to update the sidecar.xml for the folio is to delete the whole thing and then reload entirely?

yes this clearly is a problem in the architecture and maybe a bug (or
needed?) but it should not download (in fact update without the possibility
to preview while loading) the whole folio again. that's painfull,
especially after 5pm in Europe when the servers slow down.
