10.4.7- Lost all text! h.e.l.p.

I recently did the 10.4.7 update and now can not read anything. All graphics show up properly but absolutely no text. This makes it nearly impossible to attempt a re-install for anything. I really need some help with this one.

Just in case anyone else has this problem. What hapened was there was a fault in my font book, so we used another mac hard drive to switch out my fonts for the default folder. That was able to totally clear it up.

Possibly. See the Manually Migrating section of Switch 101: Migrate your Windows files or system to your Mac.
The files already transferred are in a new user account created by Migration Asisstant. Log off; when you go to log back on, you should be prompted to enter a password for the new account. Then you should be able to manually move whatever didn't get copied.

Upgrade to iOS 6 and lost all text messages

I have recently upgraded my Iphone 4 to iOS 6.1.3 and resotred evey thing except text messages... All the Text Messages were lost...
Is there any way these text sms could be recovered?? I am using Windows 7

You restored from a backup?
The only way to recover your text is if you made a backup of your phone prior to upgrading, then after you upgrade you can restore from that backup.

BB Q5 lost all text msgs, emails, call lost

Hello,
Please advice my Q5 suddenly lost yestarday all emails and text messages, and the call log just cleared itself.
I havent done any update or software change lately.
Any idea ?

The latter. Your email should restore from your email server as part of reintegrating the account to the device. But SMS messages are probably lost, along with call logs and other things. Depending on how your device is configured, you may get other things also back from your email server (e.g., contacts and calendar, if you were using your email server as your primary storage for those).
The time to take backups of priceless data is before things go wrong. If you were taking regular backups of your data, then you'd have that as the source of a restore. If you took no backups, then that was a risk you chose to take. After all, there are only two kinds of computing device users: those who have lost data, and those who will. Migrating from the latter to the former is often a very painful experience.
Hence, btw, no one can guarantee that you won't lose things again...hence the importance of regular backups, to protect your priceless data in the event of a failure of the (commodity) device.

i updated my phone to 6 and my text messages didnt come back??? help

The latest update went smoothly enough, but when my Q10 woke up again, and I reconnected to my email accounts, my whole history of texts and BBM messages were gone! Did this happen to others?
Can anything be done?? Thanks for any help.

I was able to help some other users restore a previous backup to regain their lost SMS history.
I don't know why yours did not restore. Restoring the backup will always result in a need to update passwords as that is simply a security measure and to reinitiate your link to that account. Nothing uncommon there.
I wish I could help you with the lost SMS, but it sounds like you have done exactly what I would have advised you.

Hi I had the same problem and spent some time trying to get through to support, when I did they couldn't answer my querey but since then....
Every time a message is sent the indicator stops 90% along its journey and goes no farther?
The answer is simple, Apple don't seem to know it yet....
In Settings goto messages and right at the bottom click the 'Show Subject Field' to OFF.
The new upgrade has made a dogs dinner of this, you can leave it on, but DO NOT USE IT it prevents the messages from going and its far easier to turn the dammed thing off, it makes no difference to the content of the message.
Apple had me turning on 'Mobile Data' which was never needed in the past. and it is not necessary we will no doubt get an update 7.04 soon where it will either be fixed or discarded..

All text in all email are blank, can't view attachments.

After last osx update 10.5.6 I noticed a problem with my email. I have 2 email accounts in mail 3.5 The 1st works fine, the 2nd account lost all text in all email in in-box. Also all attachments are blank. I've tried forwarding the email to another account and also printing email but all the text looks as if it has been deleted. I've tried the font color and encoding but no luck. What would cause 20 emails to delete all the message text and blank out the attachments in only one email account?

update - I did a rebuild mailbox and all email in that problem account diapered. I can only guess that the email got corrupted and the rebuild purge the problem records. They are not in the delete folder either. What would cause one email box to become corrupt?

I think it was my second time of syncing. Also I tunes keeps opening when no apple prod is connected, and a dialogue box tells me it cannot find the I phone. When it is not connected?..

I have a big problem with my NOKIA E71
This is the second time I lost all my messages and my Mail Box.
The story is : when I was chatting using MSN messenger on my E71
The connections failed many times so I restarted my E71, suddenly after restart
I did not find any messages or any emails in my Inbox and Mailbox , the second problem is the design of lock on E71 screen was changed to white circle form however before that it has a rectangular form.
Is the problem with the software or with my card memory because I used to save all my massages on memory card?

My E71 also experienced the same problem. It lost all text messages, emails and some folders on the memory card. Will someone from Nokia please tell us what is happening.

Hi! I was browsing my facebook account when my iphone 3G restarted on its own. The apple icon appeared and when the "restarting" process was over, I lost all my installed apps, the contents of my phonebook were gone, all text meassages saved were also gone. It was as if I had a new phone again. I am really lost now and I don't know if there is a way of retrieving my contacts and my messages. I upgraded to OS5 yesterday and all my contacts including names, email addresses, and phone numbers have been deleted. When I tried to revert to a previous back up, the only one was the one that was done right before I downloaded the new OS. All other previous backups were gone. In addition, I bought 40.00 worth of extra storage space to back up to iCloud and had to start it over several times before it finally worked...25 hours later!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am MAD that the new OS download procedure deleted EVERYTHING in my contacts. The only thing that remains are my favorited phone numbers but none of them are labeled so I have no idea who anyone is except I sort of know where some people were on the list. This is HORRIBLE and so far I've seen hundreds of these exact kinds of posts all over the Net, not just here on the Apple website. I've done everything I could on my own and tried several things that have been suggested by other Apple users here in the forum. Nothing has worked and evidently nothing was saved to my iCloud storage, either. Now I'm having to pay for a 1pm phone call with tech support that I'm sure will cost me a freaking fortune to tell me that I'm screwed-and that'll be 75.00, please.

Since adding microsoft exchange I sunced my phone and lost all of my old contact, notes. etc. Also, when I do get a text message it appears as a number instead of a name. What did I do wrong and can I get my old info restored. When I tried restoring it only gave me the same thing.

That number is for an apple server in the UK that is used for iMessage activation. A hidden SMS is snet to that number when you turn iMessage on and is used to verify your phone number. I suggest you turn iMessage off. In settings/phone turn on dial assist. Check with your carrier to see if you can send an international SMS as you end that possibility to activate iMessage. Rest your phone (Hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the home button together until the apple logo appears (ignore the ON/OFF slider) then let both buttons go and wait for device to restart (no data will be lost).) then turn iMessage back on.

My iPhone has recently been crashing (or rather the apps) when I would try to access my text messages, contacts, phonebook, facebook, or email. I tried restarting my phone and lost all of my contacts. This has been happening more and more frequently. Today I was in my pictures and was trying to crop one and my phone shut off completely. Anyone know what's wrong with it or how to fix it?

Make sure all apps are fully closed:
- double tap your home button
- hold your finger on an app
- when the apps start to wiggle press the red "-" button on all the apps
Now do a hard reset:
- hold the home button and the sleeps/wake button down at the same time
- the phone will shut off then when the apple logo ppears release both buttons
If by then your contacts have not been restored you would need to try and retreive them from a back up on itunes/icloud that was made when the contacts were on the phone. You could even stream them from the cloud if they were synced to the cloud. The link beow will show you how to restore from an itunes/icloud back up:

Help, lost all photos and texts while syncing new iphone

While syncing my husbands new iphone 3 on itunes I gained all the music but lost all photos and texts... also all the apps and contacts from my iphone were added to his phone. Need help mostly on how to recover the photos that were deleted, there were about 1,000 of them and I didn't realize it was happening until it was too late....

Where did the photos come from in the first place?
