10.4.7 mail/exchange problem (not proxy related like everyone else)

Hi, I have had a problem related to mail and my exchange server since upgrading to 10.4.7, and it is not the socks proxy problem others are having...
The setup:
I use Mail to access my .mac, one POP, and one Exchange server, and have a number of rules that take 100% of my messages from all three servers and distribute them to various mailboxes local to my mac.
What works:
Everything. I can send/receive mail, connect to all servers, etc. I have no problems in this regard.
What doesn't work:
If my "Inbox" mailbox in Mail is NOT the active mailbox (meaning my focus is on some other mailbox/folder), every few minutes my dock icon gets the red "1" new message icon, and the inbox shows the "1" in the circle next to it, but when I click on the Inbox both notifications disappear, and there is no new message. The icon does not bounce, either. When I have the Inbox opened, the new message is over the exchange folder of the inbox, so I know it is somehow related to exchange. This behavior started immediately following the 10.4.7 upgrade.
If my Inbox is the active mailbox, I never get this new mail notification.
Other things of note:
I have a blackberry that is connected to the same exchange server and is not experiencing any problems. The blackberry is not set to reconcile, so it just acts as a client and does't perform any server ops. No server changes were made, and my client configuration has remained the same for months.
Seems like a 10.4.7 bug to me, but I figured I would try this out first. Any help would be appreciated.

In my Exchange account on Mail.app I have the same occurrence with two folders. 1) In Publicfolders/CompanyName Contacts I always have a message showing - because Exchange recognizes the folder as a mail folder, but cannot parse the contents (The sole contact on the server) as an email. When I open the folder the notification disappears. Close the folder and it reappears. 2) In Inbox when the Exchange server registers a System Administrator - Undeliverable Message response. My Inbox tells me the email is there, but for some reason Mail.app cannot display these messages. Close the folder and it reappears. Sometimes!
I cannot fix the contacts notification and have learned to live with it, with the Inbox, I log onto the Exchange server through OWA and delete the message off the server. Problem disappears. Chances are there may be an email on your server that mail.app knows is there, but cannot - for whatever reason - display.
Does your Blackberry show a message that Mail.app doesn't?

    I'm using Mac OS X 10.6.1. with Mail Version 4.1 (1076).
    Setting up the connection of an Exchange 2007 mail server in an intern network works great.
    Now I want to have access from outside/external.
    The Windows setup is via a proxy server.
    In Mail I do not find such a setting. Only "external server", but this doesn't work.
    With this setting I get the error (console):

    What's wrong here? What could I do so I can get access from extern via the proxy (ssl)?

    Well, Exchange 2007 uses the Autodiscover record you can setup in your DNS. You just make a CNAME that points to the exchange server.
    With that,you can just open up your Mac Mail client and set your Display name, email address and password. Then the mail client will go out and find the settings to connect to your Exchange server. once connected, no matter where you are, you just open up your mac mail client, and as long as you have an internet connection, you will be connected to your exchange server.
    It is a lot better then opening up a port in your firewall.

  • "Message ... could not be moved" Mail/Exchange problems

    I know this has been discussed before, but I am not sure it applies for Snow Leopard Exchange mail. I have messages in my inbox in Mac Mail that I cannot move or delete. I get the error message above stating "An error occurred while moving messages to mailbox...". The console reports this when I make the attempt:

    I believe these were messages that were deleted on the Exchange server due to company SOX policies.
    I have attempted to take Mail offline and delete the mail and go online after, but the messages just reappear! I am willing to start with a fresh inbox and rebuild, but I do not want to lose messages in Mail in other folders that have been cleared from the Exchange server for obvious reasons.
    I tried removing Inbox.ewsmbox from my mail server folder under /Users/mlitwin/Library/Mail/<server-account-name> but that didn't do what I hoped it would. I also tried removing the Envelope Index but those messages remained in place. Is there some other way to clear them out? Do I just have to do both at the same time? Since it takes nearly a day for Mail to process all this I don't want to try this if this is the wrong approach.

    In Mail.app, try using the "rebuild" item under the Mailbox pull down menu to rebuild the index.

  • Mail & Exchange problem - cannot connect to exchange server

    I am having a problem configuring MS exchange on Mail 5.2. I am not able to connect to exchnage server. The error message is consistent 
    MFEWSErrorDomain error 56
    I can connect to the same server using Mail on iPhone 4 but from what I understand iOS and Lion use different protocols?

    YAY MEEEE!!! After hours of looking for this i Have figured it out.
    Log into the OWA actt. (Web Outlook) and hit the ? mark in the right hand corner > About.
    Grab the data in the about page. Complete your wizard and when you get the auto discovery error message and it requests the server name copy the HOST ADDRESS - not the "Exchange Client Access server name"

  • Mail exchange problem with new iphone

    My home button stopped working so I went to the store and got myself a new iphone under warranty (Thanks apple).
    It is running version 4.3.4
    Anyhow, when I got home and restore from backup, everything works beautifully. However, the only problem is that I can't sync my hotmail using exchange. My Gmail is set under exchange as well and it works fine.
    I have tried the following but it didn't work

    I deleted and re-entered the account info, though everything are 100% correct, I still getting the "Unable to verify account info.". If I save the profile and open "mail" the message "Cannot Get Mail" would pop up
    Re-formating the phone doesn't work either
    I installed EAS Default task timeout profile, which I found online and it didn't work either
    Any help would be appreciated, thanks

  • Claws-mail 3.4.0 problem (not libetpan related).

    After the upgrade of claws-mail does not start anymore.
    It shows a brief white flash and it stops. The process seems running and the --debug log quite normal.
    I use a x86_64 archlinux.
    Now I try to downgrade.

    Actually I help myself by using PP as an external editor in Aperture. After using PP I have to import the edited Pic back to Aperture. I's not very funny but there is no other way at the moment.
    But I don't understand why the synchro with Facebook does not work for me. Has anyone the same problems with Aperture and Facebook? Details: uploading to FB is working fine - but Aperture has got problems when I try to synchronize older FB gallerys of my Account.

  • Mail Exchange settings not working

    I'm trying to setup Apple Mail to use an exchange server instead of imap. The settings I'm using aren't working. The same account works fine on the iPhone- any reason why this isn't working?

    What server settings are you trying to use? Please don't post login information, but everything else you can give us will be helpful in trying to troubleshoot your issue.
    Things to include:
    1) incoming mail server (should be the same as the webpage you log in with, minus the /owa or /exchange - tell us which one)
    2) Domain
    3) User mask (sometimes different than email address, may need to check with IT to be sure)
    Also, if your company uses a secure server and has a self-signed certificate, you would need to be sure to install all layers of the certificate to your device. Your IT department can help with this also.

    Value is appearing in Invoice document but it is not updating the related database tables e.g. KONV for(Invoice document condition No.)

    "we are checking respective sales order for Invoice. From Sales order value we are finding out document condition number  in VBAK table. then in KONV table for respective value we are checking "A" condition type is available or not.
    If it is available we are just copying the value and depending upon the Invoiced qty, We are passing to the same condition type.
    Problem:
    Value is appearing in Invoice document but it is not updating the related database tables e.g. KONV for(Invoice document condition No.)

  • Boot problems, not software related (dual 1.25ghz MDD)

    Ok, I have a dual 1.25 ghz MDD w/2GB of ram, airport- everything that could get thrown on it OEM.
    I bought it about 3 months ago, used, and had problems with it not booting. I took it into a local apple shop twice, the 2nd time they did a fresh install of Tiger (10.4) and sent it home with me hoping that fixed the problem.
    Now, I can use the computer for anywhere from 5 minutes after boot, to several hours after boot- and it will work ok. However, no matter what, after a while- the clock will stop working and the computer would freeze shortly after.
    The shop tested the computer with: The Apple hardware test CD, norton, techtool, diskwarrior- all did not find any hardware problems. The OS has been reinstalled several times with 10.4 retail CDs.
    In going around online, I found people with similar problems which ended up being a bad processor module. In fact every person I could find on varrious boards who had this happen, had it happen to their dual 1.25ghz model specifically (not the dual 1ghz or dual 867, etc).
    Is this a design flaw or production flaw with the processors? I can't afford to put any more money into this machine, which is now a $1,500 (1,700 if i count the shop fees) paper wieght. I can not use something that randomly crashes this often. Does anyone know where I can get replacement processor modules?
    The shop I bought it from has ignored me since the week I got the machine, and their 90 day warrety ran out about 2 weeks ago (go figure). so I am effectively in a hard spot right now. Does Apple have any policey reguarding how their retailers conduct themselves?

    Ok, here are my responses to this thread:
    1) Already tried the ram route, I have 5sticks of 512mb, all mac/apple ram, tried each stick in there by its self in case maybe more than one stick was bad. Again, no solution there, the shop that did the recent attempt at the computer did bench test the ram and found no problems- I think ram can be ruled out.
    2) Tried taking out everything non-OEM/stock on the computer- airport card, etc- again, this made no difference.
    3) The OS was put on the 2nd time after the Nortons et al were used, again- this is not a software problem. No kernel panics, etc. No processes are causing the crash, and it makes no difference if I am in OS9.2, OS 10.2, 10.3 or 10.4 (I own retail cds/disks of every major mac OS release sice sys2).
    4) Powersupply is good and working perfectly
    5) So far its looking like the processor module and/or logic board is in deed bad, since everything else has been ruled out.
    The shop that I bought it from is still by and large ignoring me, what would be the procedure to report them? It sounds to me like they knew the unit was bad, hence why they blew me off until their 90 day warrenty expired.

    How can a responsible eleven year old use an ipod? I do not want to 'follow the flow' as I have been instructed to do by other parents in order to obtain an apple id for her by changing her birth year. I believe in truth. I believe that even a 'little white lie' simply adds a burden in our childrens hearts and allows them to think it is okay. As I was told, "It is okay, how is Apple going to find out?" I do not want to travel that path. Her friends have ipods, our 9 year old cousin has an ipod....Help, Honest Mom in need of a solution.

    She can use an iPod. She just can't have her own account in the iTunes Store. The restriction is on using the iTunes Store, not on using apps or playing content purchased from it. You just need to set up an iTunes Store account and buy items for her rather than having her do it on her own.

    If there is a fix to this frozen button issue, can someone please fill me in...?!?! My ipod is in mint condition, and yet one day I went to use it and the click wheel was frozen. The lock works but that's it! This is the second time this has happened, and it leaves me stranded for about 2 months before it starts working again. It seems to have happened when I left it charging to full capacity. I know this is a common issue, as every person I seem to come across has had freezing issues with their ipod.
    Nothing works so far to correct this issue, the 5 steps, resetting, formatting, restoring, Nothing!
    If somebody has the answer please post it for the entire world to see, perhaps on apple or itunes homepage.
    (Oh, along with this I've NEVER downloaded illegal music and therefore I have over $200 worth of itunes music I can no longer use on my waste of an ipod.)

  • HT4969 How come I do not have Reminders on my iCal? Why is it a seperate program and how can I merge the two, much like everyone else seems to be able to do?

    The title says it all. I want Reminders "To Do" program on my iCal. The seems like a common sense method of organization. Is it just my Mac that is jacked up or is this an update that divided the two programs?

    As of the latest ios version, Reminders are a separate entity, and you use the Reminders app to set reminders.

  • Mail / Exchange 2013 weird behaviour?

    I’m hoping someone here can help with weird behaviour from Mail which is driving me nuts. It doesn’t appear to be the same problem as the odd Exchange behaviour described in other threads. It appeared about a month back, and I had made no changes to my software or hardware at that time.
    I have the latest version of OSX Mail in Mavericks, set up with an Exchange 2013 and iCloud mail accounts. There are no extensions or add-ons running. I have two Macs and two iOS devices on these accounts, all fully updated. The problems exist regardless of which devices are powered up at any one time. Mail is set to download messages automatically.
    On both of the Macs I get the same following problems:
    - When new messages arrive, the mailbox notifier indicates the new messages, but they are not shown in the message list. If I select the ‘Exchange’ inbox they are visible, and remain so when I switch back to the combined ‘Inbox’.
    - When I select the ‘Exchange’ inbox, rather than the combined ‘Inbox,’ then after 30 seconds or so the ‘From’ field in the message list changes to ‘To’, so all the senders are shown as my email address.
    - The entire send/receive function seizes up half a dozen times a day, necessitating a Force Quit to restart the app.
    iOS devices work just fine.
    Is this in fact the same as the reported Exchange problems, or have I got something else going wrong here? I’ve tried deleting and recreating the account, and also had my hosted Exchange provider take a look, to no avail.

    It is really an odd issue. Working for a while, then crash.
    According to your description, I found that we suspect it is a certificate issue.
    If this issue really related to the certifcate mismatch or something additional, it shouldn't connect to Exchange server, even just for a while (As we
    encountered).
    I suggest double check our ECP VD configuration and Authentication method. Steps as below:
    1. Please try to re-build ECP Virtual Directory, commands as below:
    a. To remove current ECP VD:
    Remove-EcpVirtualDirectory -Identity "Server01\ecp (default Web site)"
    b. To check whether the Remove operation completed successfully:
    Get-EcpVirtualDirectory -Server Server01
    c. To create a new ECP VD:
    New-EcpVirtualDirectory -Server SERVER01 -ExternalURL https://mail.contoso.com/ecp -InternalURL
    https://mail.contoso.com/ecp
    2. Please verify that the Microsoft Forms Based Authentication service is running on all Exchange servers.
    a. To check:
    Get-EcpVirtualDirectory -Server <server name> | fl *auth*
    b. To enable:
    Set-EcpVirtualDirectory -Identity "Server01\ecp (default Web site)" -FormsAuthentication
    $true
    3. Please also make sure the remote apps are all installing the trusted certificate.
    4. Please also collect detailed App logs or error message in event viewer for the further troubleshooting.
    Maybe I have not enough experiences, I am not sure whether the logs above that we provided is useful. Maybe others have different opinions.

    Have you checked if the defaut or custom SMTP port has been forwarded to your px12?
    Have you checked if your ISP is blocking SMTP ports for your connection?

    Windows Server 2012 R1 with Exchange 2013 SP1
    Windows XP SP3 with Outlook 2010 (14.0.4760.1000) computer is on the same network, but not a part of the domain. 
    When I try to configure Outlook profile for the user, I manually enter exchange server name and user name. 
    Check User button underlines server name and user name and profile gets created successfully.
    Once I try to open outlook for the user I get
    Cannot open your default e-mail folder. Microsoft Exchange is not available. Either there are network problems or the Exchange computer is down for maintenance
    If I search the content of the log files under
    X:\Program Files\Microsoft\Exchange Server\V15\Logging\RPC Client Access
    I can’t find any records indicating a connection attempt from the client’s IP or references to the version of the outlook used, however I can see a 3 way handshake followed by a 4 RCP packets and then 4 nspi bind requests and responses when outlook opens
    up and then connection is torn down.

    That version of Outlook 2010 (14.0.4760.1000) is not supported with Exchange 2013 and will not be able to connect. It need to be on at least SP1 +
    Outlook 2010 November 2012 update (14.0.6126.5000)
