10.4.8 and RealPlayer

Hi all,
I upgraded to 10.4.8 last night and everything seems to have pretty much worked apart from RealPlayer.
I upgraded RealPlayer to 10.1 this morning but to no avail. The problem is, whenever I go to the BBC Radio 1 pages I get the message:
Safari cannot find the Internet plug-in
The page “BBC Radio Player” has content of MIME type “application/x-mplayer2”. Because you don’t have a plug-in installed for this MIME type, this content can’t be displayed.
popping up. Using the stand-alone player works fine, in fact with 10.1 it works better because it just opens up RealPlayer rather than me having to do it manually.
Despite the error popping up it still streams (when the BBC link actually works...) which is really weird.
Anyway, I'd really like it to just work in the web page like it used to with 10.4.7 and RealPlayer 10.0. I don't suppose anybody has any solutions?

I just checked Radio 1 with both Safari and Opera, and it is playing aboslutely fine. I notice that I am still using Real Player 10.0.0. I wouldn't be surprised if some file associated with plug-in defaults has become corrupted. Possible solutions are emptying the cache and resetting Safari, both under the Safari menu.
"Resetting Safari clears the history, empties the cache, clears the Downloads window, and removes all cookies. It also removes any saved user names and passwords or other AutoFill data and clears Google search entries." – So it is a little drastic.
You can also check the Installed plug-ins, under the Help menu.
If this does not help you might try dragging your Safari preference file to the Desktop, and then launching Safari to see whether the problem disappears. If not you can return the preference file whence it came.

Security update 5.0 disabled Kaspersky and RealPlayer pugins, I want them back on, roll back the update

Latest "security" update to Firefox 5.0 has disabled Kaspersky and RealPlayer plugins. I want these back on. They are needed, the so-called security fluffyware update is not.
I need the update rolled-back!

I managed a temporary work-around by re-installing Firefox 4.0
Firefox 4.0.1 was no good because it automatically updated to Firefox 5.0
Fortunately I had saved the installers to disc in April/May 2011, they are not available from Mozilla - and they should be!
I had to turn off the automatic update and install feature, this is what caused the problem in the first place. This is a dangerous feature to let loose.
All updates should be thoroughly tested that they do not disable important security and other add-on features, or should wait until suitable updated add-ons are available. Kaspersky and RealPlayer are important main-stream add-ons, not trivia. This is a classic violation of software control in design.
The latest Firefox 5 "Security Update" urgently needs to be rolled-back across the board and fixed before re-applying.

Zire 71 and Realplayer

Hi Palm'ers:
I have some songs in *.wma and *.m4a format that I have bought from some sites (I-Tunes, etc.), but the Palm Zire 71 doesn't play them and doesn't show them on the songlist.
Why not? Is the original Realplayer software too old for these new formats? Is there a new version available for this Palm and if so where can I download it? Or is the Zire 71 getting left behind in the wake of tek development??

The Zire71 was discontinued a long time ago, and Realplayer will only support mp3 audio. You could re-rip the songs to mp3 if desired.
You can also check with Ptunes to see if their latest version can play on a Zire71. The Pocket Tunes 5.2 can now play wma files.

Quicktime video stutters in quciktime and realplayer

I recorde some video with my digital camera. it plays smothly in the camera but when i play it on my pc with quicktime or realplayer it stutters and pauses (video and audio) I have latest version of quicktime, and latest vdeo driver....only happens with quicktime moves.
If i convert the files to mppeg they play smothly with no problems.
Can anyone help me on this isuue please?
and are there any programmes which edit mpeg 4 files so i dont have to wast time converting to mpeg 2 to edit?

Does IE 8 and Realplayer 16,0,2,32 function together?

I believe I started having problems after I updated these programs. I downloaded a video from youtube and now it will not play or show on RealPlayer. RealPlayer goes through the process like it did previously but now it plays back a blank black screen. The clip position moves as if its playing the video but nothing. No video or sound. Also, when I clicked on the clip's name the CLIP INFO window show the SOURCE as blank. All my other videos show the source as YouTube. Any help out there?

same issue with same system specs. Google Chrome and Safari download the files just fine. Firefox used to dowmload files fine.

N80 and realplayer

Just like to say hi to everyone.
What i would like to know is can you upgrade the realplayer in the n80 without a major flash, and if so how can you do it?
The reason i ask is i am having trouble streaming video with my n80, i have tried all sorts with my wifi connection to sort it but to no avail, it streams music ok np.

WMP and Realplayer

hello all, is there WMP/realplayer version for intel imacs,

Here is a response to one of my earlier posts. After following these steps, all .WMV files worked on my Mac in Quicktime, but were very choppy. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm running a MBP 17" 2.6 GHZ 1GB RAM
As for running WMV files on MBP via Rosetta, it is a process but it works in QuickTime.
-Firstly, you will have to open the finder, go to applications, CTRL-Click on Quicktime.app and choose "Get Info".
-Check the box for "Open with Rosetta"
-Go to Finder->Applications->Utilities and do the same thing with Installer.app (i.e. set it to open up in Rosetta).
-Once you download the Flip4MacWMV plugin from here: http://www.flip4mac.com/wmv_download.htm ; open the .DMG file and install it (Drag to your applications folder).
-Go to Finder->Applications->Utilities and make sure that you now UNCHECK the "Open with Rosetta" box in Installer.app
-With Quicktime still set to open with Rosetta, you should be good to go!
The reason that this works is because the Flip4Mac plugin was built for PPC processors. It is a Quicktime plugin that allows QT to play Windows Media files. So, we need to trick Installer.app into thinking it is running on a PPC machine (hence opening it with Rosetta while installing the Flip4Mac plugin, and then changing it back once installed). We also have to tell QuickTime to open in Rosetta, so the app thinks it is running on a PPC machine, thereby allowing Flip4Mac to do its job.

MBA and Realplayer - no internet access

I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. When I download realplayer 11, my internet connection stops. If i delete the program, internet comes back. Its only on my MBA. Other macs are not affected.

Yes, you are not going mad: I just had the same issue.
Downloaded the latest RealPlayer yesterday and then Airport started to fail. I did not initially make the connection (between the RealPlayer and network failures) so spent a few hours trying to diagnose the Airport issue. It also of course affected Time Machine which was connected to a Time Capsule, therefore backups were failing.
Eventually, saw your post and removed Real Player and everything is now working fine again. No idea exactly why though.

ITunes and RealPlayer

I'm having trouble figuring out how to import the music I have from RealPlayer into iTunes. Is it possible and if so how do I do it? I tried importing the files as it says under the help section but the files never appear in my iTunes Library.

It really depends on the music type. MP3 will transfer, RM not so much.

Safari and realplayer plug ins for Universal / osX 10.4.6

a new macbook pro - very happy except i cant do the basics like listen to audio streams from the BBC web site.
they are asking for audio/x-pn-realaudio-plugin
i cant find this anywhere...anyone know why this is?

Real has yet to release an Intel Mac-compatible version of Realplayer. For now, what you can do is force Safari to run under Rosetta. Generally speaking, a Universal application running Intel-code is incompatible with plugins compiled solely for the PowerPC, unless you run it under PowerPC-emulation, i.e. Rosetta.

N97 and Realplayer probelms + Maps loader

Hi Guys,
I have done a very unproductive google search and come up none the wiser so hoping someone here can shed some light.
I transfer video's to my N97 in mass media mode - I originally put them in sounds folder (copied all my itunes library there) and then moved them to the video folder (and music to music) however I can play them via file manager but they do not appear in realplayers list of video clips - and I can't get it to refresh the list - I have turned phone on and off multiple times, been through all the options but none show refresh.
I have added more films and some show in clips but others don't?
I have also updated to maps 3.1 and trying to use map loader to pre-load maps of the UK and Europe onto the phone - map loader on Ovi Suite always gives me a message saying either unable to find the drive (Maps open before and checked it has saved some map info) or it connects, downloads, starts to install and then tells me there is no space to install - when before its telling me I have 20GB free and its taking up less than 2GB??? I have set the slider for amount of space maps can take to 90%.
Anyone able to help me out here?

Hi Alex, I had a similar issue with the built in video app, but I've figured out how to get my player to load the new videos in the list, don't know if this would help you.
I noticed I have 2 files with the same file name (but different file extension) one is a .mp4 and one is .flv, seems like the video player is confused when this happens, it even ignores all other files from that point onwards.
As you might have guessed, after i renamed the 2 identically named files my videos showed up correctly.

Another computer of mine is running windows 7 64 bit and it shows 4 different realplayer or derivative of realplayer plug-ins which seems fishy to me. Are there that many availabe?

The hp laptop running windows 7 seems to me to be running very strange and many programs have appeared that I did not download as if someone else is actually using it as a server. I am constantly changing passwords, updating plug-ins, software, using a wired ethernet linksys router wrt54g for my lan and still have problems with settings getting changed, programs not working , developer programs appearing, having to reboot, ad infinitum and now I am looking at my Firefox Plug-Ins and see RealJukebox NS, RealNetworks RealPlayer Chrome Background Extension, RealPlayer G2 LiveConnect-Enabled, RealPlayer Browser Record, and RealPlayer HTML5VideoShim not to mention the non-RealPlayer Plug-Ins. My question is do all of these exist and why would I have them when I did not install them. Also, would I need them for Windows 7 64 bit. Any information provided will be most appreciated. I'm about to quit and look for another hobby.

Have you tried ping ip address of printer? and check if there exists any data lost in network connection. If your network connection is crowded, it can cause delay for printer.
Also, please attempt to disable all security software temporarily, such as antivirus, firewalls,etc and
clear all printer cache.
Locate to task manager, check the state of spoolsv.exe, including cpu and memory. If it has high cpu or memory usage, it may be caused by malware. Thus, you'd better to make a full scan with the latest anti-virus.
