10.4.8 update - M-Audio Project Mix firewire connection lost

Wow!
I was working with 10.4.7 for months, no problem
I'm an pro user and this is my livelihood 24/7.
Now my M-Audio Project Mix I/O audio unit (firewire) can not be seen by their latest drivers (came out in Sept 2006 with support for macpro) so they aren't old drivers.
Now I have to work with the Mac audio outs....
not good for my pro setup. I generally have projects in 32 bit mode and higher than 41K audio..
When this get fixed?
el profesor

have the same problem with my iMac and the Audiophile.
worked just fine for over a month, then suddenly and without any changes from one day to the other went into flashing mode and when starting the app it says it doesn't find any m-audio card connected. - uninstalled with uninstaller and reinstalled freshly downloaded driver (which dates from may 2006 and not oct as another person suggested in this forum). Doesn't work.
any suggestions would be great!
thanks in advance-

  • Will my m audio Project Mix work with logic x?

Hi, just wondering if my M-Audio Project Mix I/O will work with Logic X. I am currently running Mavericks.

If it works with any other CoreAudio based app on your Mac.. it should work fine with Logic Pro X as the key is .. if it is compatible with your OS X version. Its not about compatibility with Logic Pro X at all in reality... as LPX uses Core Audio which is part of OS X.
So do you have it up and running in 10.9.2 and does it work with any other audio app? If so which one(s)?
If you haven't tried yet, you may be out of luck as the last driver update for your device was way back.. for 10.7.4.... and some people had issues getting to work under Mountain Lion, let alone Mavericks...

  • LOGIC STUDIO AND M-AUDIO PROJECT MIX

    Hi guys,
I purchased a new imac yesterday, 2.4ghz intel core duo with 4gb of ram and 320gb hard drive.
I also have a m-audio project mix which I bought around 4 months ago. I used to use this on my PC with cubase, however I cant get the project mix working at all now. I have of course ensured switched to logic mode lol.
I'm also using mac os x 10.5.2 and downloaded the update for logic pro 8 as well, I believe its 8.0.1
I installed the beta version drivers from m-audio website, which appears to work. I switch on the project mix, double click the m-audio firewire from my apps folder and thats ok. If I switch off the project mix theres a pop up which then says project mix not found so i'm guessing my mac is recognising the hardware. Also when I switch the MIX on and check the audio midi setup from utilities it is showing in there also.
On logic i have set the preferences/audio correctly i think. The core audio check box is ticked, the device states project mix multichannel, I/O buffer 256 and 24 bit recording is enabled.
When I go to preferences/control surfaces/setup and try scanning though nothing is found! When logic is opened none of the sliders on the project mix flick to start as they would with cubase and none of the transport buttons etc work! im getting really frustrated lol
any help would be really much appreciated
    thanks for your time
    phil

Based on the fact that I don't see it listed under Preferences>Control Surfaces>Setup>New>Install and the MAudio website says that, in the case of Logic, "DAW software must support Logic Control, Mackie Control, or HUI protocols" here http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/ProjectMixIO-main.html , I suspect that you will have manually add a Mackie Control/Logic Control in order use the Project Mix with Logic. Just set the input and output ports to the control i/o on the Project Mix. Or teach the Project Mix everything you want it to do manually under Preferences>Control Surfaces>Learn.

  • Questions about Pre-amp of the Tascam FW1884 or M-Audio Project Mix...

    Hello everybody,
I'd like to purchase a semi-pro (I hope) audio interface.
The Tascam FW1884 or the M-Audio Project Mix with their "all in one" feature seem to fit for what I want to do.
But I don't know if the Pre-amp or the digital converters are quite good or just awfull.
Are they better or not than the FireStudio from Presonus ?
Since I need at least 8 XLR inputs, the FireStudio seems to be a good choice (but without a remote control, I know...)
Is there someone who have an answer ?
    Thanks
    Vincent
PS : pardon my English, I'm desperatly French

I have a ProjectMix and I like it. There are others that I know that like it, and there are others that don't. I've actually gotten some really nice results at times with it along with my Tube Condenser and Ribbon mics when I need it. I also plug my electric guitar into it, and I like what I get from it. It's not my main interface, but when I do use it for recording, I haven't been disappointed with it.

    Hi,
I don't know anything about how your setup is plugged into each other,so I'll gracefully and carefully go out on a limb:
1.The Migraine Audio device,it has sound outputs...yes??? Are these outputs hooked up to any sound-generating devices, like speakers, yes??? If not, that would be one reason why you don't hear anything from the migraine device.
2.The Core Audio Drivers in Logic, they are configuerd correctly, yes???? They are selecting the Migraine device as the I/O,yes??? If it is not, then you might be recording with the built-in mic, oohh la la,not a good thing.
3.If you do have spekaers hooked up to the migraine-induceing device, they should be on,and the monitor knob turned to about 10am,so your migraine does not get too loud.
Did the limb I go out on break,or am i still up on the tree?

  • Will the m-audio project mix i/o work with Logic X?

    Hi,
    I have a m-audio project mix i/o interface/control surface.
Will this work with Logic X?
    Thanks,
    Mike

If it works now on 10.8.4, then yes. This depends on OS X and drivers (if needed), not on Logic. Logic can only 'see' hardware that the OS can see.

  • Does M-audios project mix I/O not function with Logic express 7.2 ?

I am having lots of problems getting this working, and it suddenly occurs to me that this equipment may not work with the Express version. Anyone know?

    Scott,
You bring music to my ears. A few questions (I'm sold at this point, just want these questions answered for sugar coating, I guess):
1.) Does the Project Mix communicate effectively with Logic's 'MIDI Learn' feature? I tried utilizing this with M-Audio's Trigger Finger, but the Finger (or Logic, can't tell which) did not lock on to the assignment. Having any trouble with this?
2.) Are there memory banks and is it easy to save all settings at any given point to certain bank? Ideally I'd like to have a different memory bank for each song, so an extensive inventory of blank memory would be very useful.
3.) How's the LCD Screen? Really awesome or uncommunicative with the user (as in, do the abbreviations make it difficult to read, or is it fairly intuitive?)
Thanks a lot. And Stash, your words are tight, too.

  • Mixing with M-Audio Project Mix

I mix to picture using Logic 7 with a Projectmix I/O as a control surface. But I find that the deeper I get into the mix, the more likely that making a fader move on the Projectmix will cause Logic to crash. The same thing used to happen with my Mackie Universal. I'm using a Unitor 8 as a midi interface. Anybody have a fix for this? It's driving me nuts.
    Thanks

    Hi Danny,
What version of Logic are you running?
Do you have the Unitor8 or the Unitor8mkii?
Is the MIDI driver current for the Unitor?
    Are your MIDI cables "kosher"?
I had problems until I got newer MIDI cables in my setup. On of my MIDI cables going to the Mackie MCU I own,was not working properly, and would be intermittent. As soon as I replaced it,the system worked again. And continues to do so.
In my experience as a technician for major studios,I found that 90% of the time, when there WAS a problem,it was usually a bad mechanical connection somewhere along the line, whether it was a bad cord, unplugged cords, untis not switched on,etc...it always came down to a simple thing.
The other 10% of the time it was an actual unit malfunction i.e. the unit was broken in some way.
    Cheers

  • Could a recent firefox update affect my firewire connection to the computer

My computer is really a home recording studio. Yesterday firefox downloaded a new update and since then the firewire connection from the mixing desk to the computer has stopped working. Could firefox somehow be responsible for blocking this?
    == yesterday

In response to your question, no a firewire cable is not possible to be blocked by a web browser as firewire's run on there own. e.g stand alone

  • Logic 9, snow and project mix

I can make it crash at will
all i have to do is work for a bit and go to file and boom, done
i have to save using my key commands
I also keep getting the error message syncing midi to external device
no doubt maudio needs to update

Dude, I'd have waited b4 upgrading to SL.
M-Audio are awful at their updates, I've had a project mix for 3 years, and they still can't answer half the questions I have for them...
Is it too late to go back to 10.5.8?

  • How do I update a pending book project on iTunes Connect?

I successfully uploaded my book and all assets to iTunes Producer. I received a ticket about my use of the term iBook (not allowed) and corrected the book file.
I am having trouble updating the files. When I tried to update the files I received an error code. "ERROR ITMS-9000: "Files of type audio/x-m4a are not allowed outside of widgets:"
Apparently that is caused by using iBooks Author's Export functionality and then delivering to the iBookstore. (my m4a files are inside widgets).
I have seen this suggested process:
    1. Open your book in iBooks Author
    2. Choose Publish from the Toolbar
    3. Choose a name for your book package
    4. iTunes Producer should open automatically once iBooks Author completes the book publishing process.
    5. Carefully enter your book's metadata
    6. When complete, click on the Delivery tab and click Deliver
But I have not been able to use this process above (1-6) to update my pending project. It seems to be designed for new book projects rather than updating files on existing projects.
Is there a way to update my current book at iTunes Connect without getting the ERROR ITMS-9000?
Or should I cancel my existing book on iTunes Connect and start over? (and if so how do I do that?)
    Thanks for your help

Just  done this after info from iBook support, simply make whatever changes you  need/want to your book and  using the original package ID and redeliver, all the informatoin wil be in iTunes Producer, but you will need to re input the book, cover and screenshot images.
After deleting  the iTunes Package in a clean up, iBook support advised to export the book and get the package ID from iTunes Connect if you  did not  record it anywhere. If you do, open iTunes Producer and in Look up Metadata.. type or paste your original package Apple ID number.
This has worked out OK for me, those who have had a book issued a "Ticket"  will likely be using the same methods.
A search for error codes advises its about zipped files or unzipping something you added.  Check your content and save making sure you either replace the original or delete it and save a new version and  re-deliver.
The good news is... if you have corrected your book to comply with teh Ticket... its should be in the store with 24 - 48 hours.
This is for Free Books.... so I dont know if its the same with paid books

  • No way to save Audio Track Mixer or Audio Plugin Settings?!

Am I stupid, or is there really no way to save my Audio Track Mixer setup, NOR a way to create my own presets for Audio Track Effects???
I spent a lot of time setting up the Track Mixer, with submix tracks, lots of effects on different tracks, etc.
The ONLY way I've found to use this setup again is to duplicate the sequence. Which is a PITA when it's a new project, and I have to dig it up from an old project with the (annoyingly slow) Media Browser ... or create a "template" project.
And what about settings for plugins??? Like the "Mastering" plugin ... the built in presets are pretty useless ... is there no way to copy the settings from one sequence to another? Or create my own presets?

    Am I stupid?
    Heavens, no.
...is there really no way to save my Audio Track Mixer setup, NOR a way to create my own presets for Audio Track Effects???
    Nope.
I do what you do... duplicate Sequences.

  • OS 10.4.10 Update Causing Audio Popping (AND HUM) Issues:

OS 10.4.10 Update Causing Audio Popping (AND HUM) Issues:
The problem on my Intel Mac mini with external Klipsch speakers (two mid-range/high and a subwoofer) is REAL obvious as the system emits a hum like a Spinal Tap amplifier turned up to #11 when 10.4.10 powers down the audio circuitry
Then, if I play a song in iTunes, it first pops and the hum disappears right before playing.
Quite annoying. I restored the mini from a recent backup to 10.4.9. Problem gone.
I'm glad I test updates on the mini before applying them to my Intel iMac 24. I guess I'll just hide & watch what happens before doing any more updates.
Here's what I sent to Apple tech support:
    Guys/Gals (OS X Engineers):
Concerning the Snap, Crackle Pop Audio problem in the 10.4.10 update:
Please. Just do the right thing and fix the audio.
There is no need to power cycle the audio subsystem to save .0005 amps on the laptop line.
And then to make your Mac mini/iMac/other desktop users have to put up with it when using AC power is ridiculous.
Put the audio subsystem back like it was in 10.4.9 and let the laptop battery freaks looking for mini-amp savings get a "work-a-round".

    Libby,
Backup is unable to make a restorable by Disk Utility backup. You can restore pieces of the software as outlined in my FAQ about backing up user data:
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
But to be able to restore a backup with Disk Utility, you need a cloning utility to have made the backup.
I suggest starting a new thread here, where someone else could help you out better:
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=752&start=0
First off, you'll get a wider audience who may be able to solve your problem. Secondly, responses to you won't confuse the original poster with solutions that don't apply to them. And thirdly, you'll know for certain whether or not a response applies to you.

  • Is anyone else having conflict with 10.8.2 update and audio files?

I recently updated from 10.8.1 to 10.8.2 (big mistake).  Now my digital interface has all of these random clicks and pops.  Worse yet, when I try and play my audio files (Digital Performer) or ITUNES that music stops, starts, stutters and is basically unlistenable.  Before the update everything ran smoothly.  I talked with the tech support for my digital music application (Digital Performer) and he thinks there is a conflict with the latest Apple update too.  Is anyone else having these problems?
To get back to 10.8.1 do I have to wipe the hard drive and re-install everything?  I use my Mac for music production so this is killing me.  Any ideas?

I once again reloaded 10.8.2, all of the current firewire, USB, and printer drivers (why not make sure those are up to date too, what have I got to lose?).  Checked the cables, the Mac firewire ports etc.  No change.
So I bought a cheap back up firewire drive (Western Digital, My Passport Studio-about $100).  That worked perfectly on the firewire port of my Mac Pro.
I hooked up my MOTU 828 firewire audio interface into the Western Digital's second firewire port, and everything works perfectly.
I wish I had known that daisey chaining devices would solve my problem before I spent $500 on a new firewire interface.
If you are having similar problems with firewire connection, then try daisey chaining through a device that has no problems.  Who knew a solution could be so simple?
