10.4.9 Allows Bluetooth PAN and Windows Mobile Cell as a modem - MBP

FYI,
I have been wishing/dreaming after all my fellow T-Mobile Dash owners that have been able to use their Dash as a Bluetooth modem with their PC laptops. There have also been those that can do the same by installing Windows on their Mac via Parallels. With 10.4.9 Apple has added PAN to Bluetooth. This allows one to use their cell phone that has Internet access as a modem. In the case of my Mac Pro, if/when my Internet connection is down, I can still surf at around 200Kb. When I am out in the outskirts with my MBP and there isn't a HotSpot nearby, I can do the same, like at the beach :>) Below is the link I found that explains the process:

It may be a non-event for most of you, but I have been waiting for this for some time. I also have The Missing Sync installed to use the Dash on my MBP instead of Windoze....

Synchronizing software for Windows 7 and Windows Mobile

Hi All,
I am trying to synchronize my PC with a Windows Mobile device (Scanner). When I googled I came to know Microsoft Mobile Device Center 6.1 is used to synchronize Windows Vista with many devices. But I am looking for a software which can synchronize my Windows
7 PC and Mobile Device.
Can someone suggest me on this. It's pretty urgent.

Regarding sync issue between mobile device and the Windows 7 system, we could accomplished it with device stage.

Adobe Reader 2002 and Windows Mobile 6

Hello,
has anyone experience with Adobe Reader and Windows Mobile 6?
I'm using an E-Ten M700 and the Reader (I tried ARM-Version and 2.0) installed itself perfectly but when started the loading icon appears shortly and nothing happens.
Is the Reader no good with WM 6?

In general, all ppc apps will run on current winmobile _ppc_ devices (must have touch screen) so, the answer is yes unless something such as a locked device disallows installing apps.
As for reflow, that is an issue of the pdf files... they must be "tagged" in order to allow reflow on the ppc.
The sync process attempts to tag synced pdf files, but, this will only happen on the sync pc which installed acrobat reader.
Full Acrobat also has the ability to add tags (advanced/accessibility/ make accessible) but some pdfs may not allow tags to be added due to protection levels or those which have any tags anywhere in the document or those where the text is a scanned image.

I've downloaded the Window support option software and the WindowSetupBox.exe and copied it to the USB drive. I tried to create an iso image from my Windows XP machine but recieved messages that Windows 8.1 could not run on XP. I've ordered the Windows 8.1 backup media.
Any way to proceed?

So I just found out about BlueTooth PAN and I am not clear on what it does?

So I have my iPhone and MacBook Air and on my MacBook Air I selected the Bluetooth PAN network option in the network tab of the system preferences menu, and hit setup new device and selected my iPhone, now when I hit connect in the Bluetooth PAN menu it immediately comes up with a notification (I am running OS X Mavericks btw if that makes a difference) which says "Network Unavailable" make sure network access is enabled. Where does it want me to enable it!!! is it on my iPhone or my mac???? PLEASE HELP!! I know I cannot be the only Mac user to have ever seen this and be curious, somebody must have a solution, also btw my iPhone is a iPhone 4 running iOS 7 if that makes a difference...

I realize this is hind site, by why would you go over an hour without saving? The power could have gone out or the dog tripped over the power cord. Something to keep in mind for the next project.

Hi Prachya,
it will not work on a PDA, because the .Net Compact Framework has only a limited instructionset of the .NET Framework and so you run into compile errors. You have to create the Proxies in Visual Studio 2003 anyway, because the .NEt connector requests Visual Studio 2003 for installation - at least this was the case 3 months ago still. once it is created you can import it to Visual Studio 2005 and use it there. But if you try to do that in a PDA App, you run into compile errors - as I said above.
I guess in your case another approach would make more sence - as you are not willing to use MI for your app.
Either you use MS SQL Server in between. On the PDA you can use SQL Everywhere/Mobile/CE (they change the name constantly, but it is the SQL Server for the PDA from MS) and connect it to an SQL server. there is a build in Sync functionality with the SQL server. You will find helpfull introductions on MSDN. And from the SQL Server you can connect to the Backend with your .Net connector. But this solution has its problems, because the build in sync with SQL server is a little tricky - and you need to license SQL server.
On the other hand: you can implement a Webservice, that connects with the PDA. This is possible with the .NEt Compact framework. And from the WebService you connect with your .NEt connector to the R/3 system. This will work fine - but you have to take care of the delta handling.
Hope this helps a little to answer your question - and why not use MI for that?

Show hiide Buttons not working in andorid OS and windows mobile OS

I made a file in Indesign CS6. This file has a map with dots on it. When a user clicks a dot, an info box pops up giving info about that dot. He clicks the box to make it dissappear and can click another dot for the next info. I achieved this using the hide and show feature of buttons and exported using interactive Pdf. The file works fine on a windows Pc but it does not work on andorid or windows mobile platform. How can I make it work for both?

I assume that you're talking about Show-Hide Fields in an interactive PDF. It's not likely that it will work given the limitations of most PDF readers on mobile devices.
I'm a user of an iPad and iPhone, and haven't worked with Android or Windows devices but I think the issues are the same on all platforms. Some PDF readers are better than others. You didn't say what PDF reader you were testing on.

The best PDF reader for iOS devices is PDF Expert, but I don't believe that exists for Android or Windows devices. I can view interactivity that Adobe Reader doesn't support.

Flash 7 and Windows Mobile 5.0

I have a Windows Mobile 5.0 device (Verizon PPC 6700) and
just bought a small app that requires Flash 6.0. This site talks
about 7.0 being the latest (and being backwards compatible). I
installed the app by placing the .cab file on my device and
clicking on the file...which kicked off an install program on the
device and it seems to have installed correctly. I rebooted the
device but don't see any setting / programs for Flash 7.0 (although
it does show up in add / remove programs). Is this installed
correctly? My purchased app won't run and it's supported on this
device as well....the developer is blaming Flash and telling me
it's not installed. The Flash 7.0 download page indicates
compatibility with Windows Mobile 5.0....any advice?

If so, then Flash is installed fine. Note, though, that Flash
content will
only play when viewed in a browser (html file) or when
embedded in an
application using ActiveX or similar. So if you are tryting
to play a swf
file, that won't work.

Internet Explorer on the Windows Mobile 2003 is not supported as an interface to Oracle Lite.
You would need to use .Net(C#,C++, Visual Basice) or develop with a native CE development environment.
You can also develop with java on the CE device.
Internet Explorer is supported on a Win32 device with a component call Web Development(formerly Web-to-Go)

Labview PDA module 7.1 and Windows Mobile 5.0

Hi!
In spite of reading that Labview PDA module is compatible with Windows Mobile 5.0, I've tried to compile an application for Pocket Pc 2003 in my device (which has a Windows Mobile 5.0 OS) and it doesn't work. It seems that the process fails when the executable is being sent to the device. Does anybody know what happens and what can I do to solve it? It's strange because the same application compiles properly with a device with Windows 2003 OS!
If it was not possible to solve, could I create an executable directly in my Pc and then copy it in the device?

I believe it was said that the problem with writing for CE 5 is only with downloading the application, which you need to do manually. You can do this by copying the EXE to the device's shared folder. ActiveSync should automatically recognize that and synchronize the folders, so you will have the file on the PocketPC. Another option is to copy it to the Mobile Device folder, which should appear under My Computer.

OSX Server and Windows Mobile 5 push email service?

Pretty simple question...Can OSX Tiger Server "push" email to Windows Mobile 5 devices natively, or is there a 3rd party option available to do so? Microsoft Exchange 2003 is capable of doing this, however I would like to go all OSX at this point.

I have been researching this topic for a while now as well and haven't found a satisfying solution. Of course, you could set your phones to establish a connection every say 10 minutes to query if new email has arrived. There are also a number of hints, how to set up a second email address for forwarding messages to e.g. Blackberrys. Another issue, for which I haven't found a solution is how to sync your phone's email with your desktop machine, except for wireless.
Any progress you hear, please let me know.

First of all, are you using a Windows Phone (windows phone 7 or 7.5) or a Windows Mobile (6.1, 6.5) phone?
Windows Mobile phones are generally not compatible with macs for USB internet tethering. They do work OK by sharing via Bluetooth or Wifi.
