10.4.9 and Toast Titanium

Since I´ve downloaded the 10.4.9 update I have problems to burn DVDs with Toast Titanium 6.1.1
CDs are not effected
The burn process starts properly, but a few minutes before it is finished it stops the job and Toast freezes.
Does anybody else encounter this problem?
Thanks for your help!

Hi Big Tom Cat and welcome!
You should probably update to Toast 7, the latest version of which is 7.1.2. I have had no problems with that.
Or of course go straight to the latest version: Toast 8 !

  • Aperture and Toast titanium exported files size reduced

I have tried to look up the answer to this but can't seem to find one. I am relativly new to aperture.
I am dragging 150 photos from the aperture window into toast titanium 8 to put them on CD for a friend to print off. When I do this the file sizes are reduced from between 2.5 - 3.5 MB down to 400-500k. The quality still seems quite good for a slide show but not brilliant for large prints. Is ther another way to get them burnt to disc or am I being really stupid?
    I am using aperture 1.5.3
    Gary

Thanks Ian, that cretainly gives me a way to do it but it now adds another half hour to the process while I wait for the 150 photos to be exported to a file so I can then drag them to be burnt! I dare say if I was clever I could get automator to do it for me in the background, thats for another day!!
It also throws up an other interesting point, when exported at the original size they seem to double in MB from roughly 3.5 to 7 (without metadata). However if I export them at 95% of the original they actually export at about two thirds original which is just about right for the prints required.
I have no idea why but now I know it happens I can dial in my settings accordingly....

  • Why does toast Titanium error say "no recorder found.  Please check cables and power"

I am trying to convert a movie to itunes using Toast Titanium.
Why does toast Titanium error say "no recorder found.  Please check cables and power" when I press the red "go" botton?

    convert a movie to itunes
What exactly are you trying to do? Is this a commercial movie that you are trying to import into iTunes? I don't know if you can import movies into iTunes unless you've purchased or rented them from the iTunes store.

  • Difference between Toast Titanium 7 and Toast with Jam 6...

Maybe I am just thick, but I can't seem to find a straight answer on this. What does TwJ add to Toast Titanium 7?
I want to convert LPs to CD and hear that Toast - with Spin Doctor - has a host of great tools for cleaning up hiss and various noises. Are the tools in TwJ the same, better, or worse?
It seems that Toast has been updated more recently then TwJ, so would it seem that an update for TwJ is upcoming?
Any other tools for audio cleanup that you suggest?

Toast 7 was written for Tiger while Toast 6 has been updated for Tiger. Development is continuing for Toast 7 but it's difficult to know if there will be any further updates for Toast 6.
The version of CD SpinDoctor that comes with Toast 7 is newer and has more features than the version bundled with Toast 6.
Toast 7 does not include Jam. If you want Jam's features it must be purchased separately. However, with Toast 7 it no longer is necessary to own Jam in order to encode AC3 audio on video DVDs or to create music DVDs as was the case with Toast 6.
Getting to the specifics of your needs, Toast 6 can burn an audio CD from CD SpinDoctor files exactly the same as does Toast 7. CD SpinDoctor 3 can now export tracks directly to iTunes which version 2 cannot do, and has a much-improved waveform display. The filters now include a 10-band equalizer.
Have you read the description of Toast 7 at Roxio's site? Here's the page where it compares with previous versions: http://www.roxio.com/en/products/toast/why_upgrade.jhtml

  • I need help with Toast Titanium please!

    Hey everyone,
I didnt know where to post this so I figured here is good since you're all handy with video apps. I just got my unibody MBP and for some reason, whenever I try to burn something in Toast Titanium or Popcorn, it it stuck in the "Preparing" mode. iDVD has been burning fine, but the others applications are not. Can anyone figure this out?
    Thanks!

Which versions of those apps are you using and are they compatible with your computer's Intel processor?
You need at least Toast 7.1 or Popcorn 2.0 to run properly. Even then they might not be compatible with Mac OS X 10.5

  • Problem with iphoto, printer, and toast

Can someone direct me to a discussion on this topic. I seem to have a driver problem or something...when I go to print anything, from any program, said program crashes.
Toast titanium won't open properly, and then won't even force quit no matter what I do.
Iphoto won't add to library anymore.
My Sibelius lost all it's fonts, and I'm sure there are a few more things I haven't even noticed yet. They all happened at the same time which is why I reckon they're all the same problem.
I'm running an Imac g5, so I know it's old! Also- I cannot locate the original cds that would let me do a reinstallation. Is there somewhere I can get them?
Oh I hope someone somewhere still running pre intel reads this.

Try running a reset printing system. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax. Then hold down the Control key and click your mouse in the Printers list. A menu showing Reset printing system should appear. Click this.
Now restart your Mac and then add the Canon driver again. Hopefully this gets things working for you again.

  • If there ever was a NEW update for iMovie, will iMovie have the ability to burn projects onto a Blu-Ray disc so that customers don't have to pay for additional software like Final Cut Pro or Roxio Toast Titanium/Pro?

It would be helpful for those who are familier with iMovie to use Blu-Ray discs for burning and playing back their iMovie projects in HD. However, iMovie '11 doesn't have that special feature yet. I hear that 'Final Cut Pro X,' 'Roxio Toast 11 Titanium' and 'Roxio Toast 11 Pro' can copy projects like iMovie onto Blu-Ray, but it would take long periods of time to do that. Professional software, like FCP X and Toast, can be pricey.
I'm hoping that iMovie '11 will burn projects onto Blu-Ray, but will that ever come true?

Will iBlu-Ray be an upgrade? OR and update of iDVD?
If it's an upgrade, then that means you'd still pay for it from the Mac App Store. I wish it would only cost between $20-40.
If it's a free update of iDVD, but with the new name, that would be better than to go out and pay for things!!!
However, external Blu-ray recorders would still be required if you were going to burn an iMovie project onto a blu-ray disc.
Is there a way to put in a request for 'iBlu-Ray?'

  • IDVD 5 img and Toast

I have a disk image I made with iDVD 5. How do I burn it in toast titanium 7? What files go it what sections etc?
    Thanks!

From iDVD, choose File > Save As Disc Image.
Mount the disc image on the desktop, by choosing the "Mount It" menu option that comes with Toast 7... which will mount the disc image as a DVD.
Launch Toast 7 and click on the DVD tab in the media browser, this will display all the titles and chapters from your DVD.
Drag/drop a title or chapter into the SVCD option of Toast.
This will turn your iDVD video into a SVCD.
iDVD menus are not included in it.

  • TOAST TITANIUM & iMOVIE

I CANNOT save a disc image by saving my large video files (21+ GB) using iDVD. It will not allow me to use it (iDVD). Is there a way I can burn such large volumes as a disc image and then burn to DVD with the computer requesting new DVD being inserted as needed? Will Toast Titanium handle this? My movie is only 2 hours and 15 min. or so; doesn't anythiing compress it down to fit on a Dual Layer DVD? All of the music I layed under it and other such things ate up memory. Will Toast solve this problem? Any other suggestions? Thanks so much for everything!
    Best,
    Mitch

iDVD doesn't care for size, but length.
iDVD allows import of up to <120min

  • Toast titanium stopped working

Recently updated my old Mac Book Pro with the Mac Box Set. I am using an external DVD burner. Yesterday I tried to burn a DVD but Toast Titanium 6 will not start. Tried installing the software that the external unit came with (Toast Titanium 9) but the OS will not let it install.  Is any one having the same problem?

Yeah, I have Toast Titani. 6 on my macbook pro laptop and NOW IT REFUSES TO START!

  • Using Roxio Toast Titanium with 550 PowerBook

    Hello eveyone.
I recently installed Tiger and am now on V. 10.4.7
My PB has no cd or dvd burner so about 3 years ago, I bought a burner and installed Roxio Toast Titanium 5.1.2. All went OK - until Tiger.
After the Tiger install, I can't get my Toast to open. This means I can use my burner - an ez quest connected with firewire - to burn a cd from iTunes but I cannot burn any of my iPhoto pics.
Anyone had a similar problem? How do I fix it?? Should I just buy and install the latest from Roxio - their Media 8 I think?
    Any help would be great!

Ouch! Well, at least you know you should have.
Is reparing perms a big thing?
It's a big thing in that it needs to get done, say like changing your oil. But like the oil, it's not a big thing to do.
Can I go wrong and make things worse?
    I can't even imagine how. It's a normal, supposed-to-be performed thing.
Open Applications:Utilities:Disk Utility, select your HD on the left side, click on Repair Permissions at the bottom, wait a few minutes until it's finished, quit DU, and you're all set.
Also, I'd guess that you don't run Background Maintenance; I'd strongly recommend it (I like MacJanitor because it's so easy and it's freeware).
Not to worry, this all normal/routine stuff.

  • Does Toast Titanium 7 allow burning DVD's in code 0?

I want to burn my iMovie projects in code 0, but Toast Titanium 6 doesn't allow that. I can only choose NTSC or PAL and I can't burn a NTSC iMovie project in PAL either - which I would like to do and vice versa. Being able to burn either to code 0 would solve that problem, but before I upgrade to 7 I would like to know if it gives me that option. Thanks to anyone out there who has the answer.

Hi Lennart - thank you for correcting my wrong advice:
Don't worry about NTSC or Pal - that doesn't come into it.
Yes, of course, iDVD Preferences presents that choice. Yet I had imagined that a DVD disk is a DVD disk and would play anywhere in the world - and that it was merely a hardware issue.
Thus if I cut a Pal DVD here in NZ, it could not play in USA?
But presumably a Pal-created iMovie can be burned into an NTSC DVD disk, and be able to play there. I've just never tried that!

  • Blu Ray Workflow: FCP7 to Toast Titanium 11

    Good Afternoon,
I'm trying to get a grip on the workflow for burning a Blu Ray Disc for a client.
I'm working in FCP7 - have Roxio Toast Titanium 11 as well as a Buffalo Blu Ray Burner.
Can anyone provide me a step by step for taking a finished FCP7 project, running it through compressor with the correct settings and then how to take that and create a Blu Ray in Toast Titanium 11 with a menu.
    Much appreciated! Cheers!
    Keith

From FCP-7, export a QuickTime movie of your finished sequence, Self Contained and Without Conversion.
    Go to the menu File > Export > QuickTime Movie . . . .
and in the navigation pane that opens make sure Settings is set to Current Settings and Make Movie Self Contained is checked.
Open Toast 11, click on the Video Tab and from the Drop Down menu choose Blu-Ray video.
Drag the QuickTime movie you exported from FCP-7 into the Toast Drop zone.
Select your destination media and buner at the bottom.
Set up your menu and other options in the right panel. Toast is not known for having great, or flexible, menus but the menu choices they offer are there.
When done click the Burn button and Toast will properly encode the video, and then burn the disc for use on most set-top Blu-Ray players. Early Blu-Ray players may or may not support home-made blu-ray discs, most players made in the last few years do.

  • IDVD 5 & Toast Titanium 7

When I drag my iDVD file which ends with, ".dvdproj" into Toast, it tells me that this file is "an unsupported file format and cannot be imported."
How can I burn my iDVD projects with Toast?
It's faster to use Toast than it is to use anything else right?
I just burned a 7 minute DVD using iDVD and it took almost 2 hours. Does it take that long with Toast as well?
    Thanks everyone.
    Jameson

into Toast, it tells me that this file is "an
unsupported file format and cannot be imported."
A .dvdproj file is just that - a file that contains your iDVD project. It is NOT the final DVD with mpg-2 encoding. You must select File>Create disk image (or something like that)
How can I burn my iDVD projects with Toast?
You need to create a disk image (as above).
It's faster to use Toast than it is to use anything else right?
    No

    well?
When you create a DVD there are two processes involved. The first is encoding - and THIS is the really slow process. When you create a disk image file iDVD will do this encoding. The second is the actual burning to writable media. This is usually much faster than encoding.
Once you have created a disk image file, if you need multiple copies, you only need to go through through the burning process.
Apple's Disk Utility (free) and Roxio's Toast Titanium will BOTH allow you to burn a disk image to writable media. And both allow you to select a slow burn speed (like 4x or lower) - this is VERY important for best DVD compatability with players.
Roxio's Toast Titanium 6, 7 and 8 all use slightly different approaches to burning a disk image to writable media, so be sure to read the manual if you use Toast.

  • Export 12gig iMovie to toast titanium

there must be a better way! no super drive but yes toast 6 titanium----Will toast compress or even handle a 12 gig iMovie and create a DVD? AND, is there a way to burn iDVD to my LaCie external? If so how do I save the iDVD file and export it to toast? iDVD seems to want to freez up when finished with the making of the DVD and there's no 'save as' in the menu and so on....
Is there a way to compress iMovie? (quick time?)
    thanks

    a) iDVD (and Toast...) doesn't care for size, but for length of a project... anything under <120min (≥24 gigs!) fits on a standard, single-layer dvd-r (=4.7GB)... because iDVD (Toast...) does a conversion into the playback format mpeg2...
    b) choose "create image" in iDVD, that creates a digital copy of a dvd... launch Toast, choose "mount image", "copy" that image... read the manual/help files.
    c) iDVD5 supports external burners... most...
    d) freezin' - my guess, reading in your specs "macbook": you run out of diskspace.- dvd encoding needs at last 10 - 15GB free on internal drive, when hitting "burn"....-
    e) … next time, I would post such a Q in the iDVD section of this forum ... ;-))
