10.4.9 sound loud

I updated to 10.4.9 yesterday.
Mostly working fine but the sound is coming out of my Intel iMac's speakers much louder than before.
For example: Before the update the sound was set to the middle of the volume range. The "no new mail" beep in Mail was quiet.
After the update, it is too loud set on the lowest level.
This is true for all sounds, not just mail.
I'm having the same problem on the Windows partition of my iMac.
Any suggestions for fixing this? (If you don't know about windows, that's O.K., I can ask somewhere else for that)

hmm, well, it seems that after the 10.4.9 update, my sound won't come out of my built in speakers, it's stuck on digital sound out, if I try to change the volume the volume display onscreen shows a circle with a crossout through it (like it can't do anything), and there's no sound. I have sound out from the headphones... is anyone else having this? also, I'm seeing that the built in speakers work if I reboot and dont' touch the volume buttons embedded in f3, 4 and 5. the second I touch those, the sound goes to digital audio and I have no sound out of the internal speakers. it's driving me nuts...

Can't get synth volume sound loud in GB2

I dropped an .mp3 file in GB2 and want to put Jam pack 4 strings to it using my 49e. But sound is hardly ledgable.
Any tips would greatly be appreciated! I made the volume as loud as it can go in sound pref's.
My 49e is plugged into a Tascam 122 interface.

The 49E is a MIDI controller. Unlike many normal keyboards, the volume slider on the 49E actually effects the velocity of the MIDI recording. Make sure it is set high enough. (1/2 way to 3/4).
MIDI levels are confusing in Garageband. Unlike real audio, MIDI levels can be quite low on the meter and still sound loud in the mix.

Why is my iMac sounding loud

My imac was mysteriously sounding loud like a fan running on high. I shut the imac down and rebooted and it stopped. Any ideas?

Do a SMC reset, if it doesn't work the first time please do it again.
SMC RESET
Shut down the computer.
Unplug the computer's power cord and ALL peripherals.
Wait 15 seconds.
Attach the computers power cable.
Wait another 5 seconds and press the power button to turn on the computer.
PRAM RESET
Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.

How come downloaded files always sound louder on iPod than ripped files?

Files that I've downloaded from the internet (.mp3) always sound louder on the ipod than the ones I've ripped (.m4a) from audio cd's. How can I fix this problem? I've tried by changing the bitrates of both types of files in the Options/Import dialog of iTunes but sound remains the same.

Try using a different "ripper" I personally prefer either dbpoweramp or EAC (Exact Audio Quality) they both are very competent in what they do, namely converting various between the numerous audio file types - I don't tend to use iTunes compression. I think you'll find that as long as you rip at >=192kb/s the quality of your compressed music is equally as good as the tracks you download from iTunes. EAC is freeware, dbpoweramp is available on a free trial. They both import the correct tags for your music files - as long as the music you're ripping isn't too obscure!

Does you spacebar sounds loud?

Mine sounds loud when I keep pressing it (Well, not too loud, but it could be annoying in a quiet environment.). But when I type a sentence and press it among other keys, it does not sound that loud. Other keys are very quiet.
Strange. Maybe it is just my misconception.

In part it's possible that you are percieving it worse than it really is as you are thinking about it.
Also, some keys do make more noise than others simple due to the way you strike them. I strike my spacebar well to the right, using obviously my right thumb, than this often causes some spacebars to be quite loud. I think its the way the physical mechanism works and how it's mounted.
Ultimately, I would doubt there's anything wrong.
You can however try applying a firm force to the whole spacebar (using both hands evenly across) while giving it a small amount of torsion each way. If it is not quite seated right doing this may fix the "problem" or at least may help a little.

any device could take damage
but your speaker which are maded to move sound and be moved by sound
would last longer then mostly anything else if your phone in terms of being damaged by sound
so the answer is yes
but not likely before anything else in your phone being destroied by the same loud music plus

I had an iphone G3. I just bought a G4. I can't hear the caller as well. I am really straining to hear. My hearing did not become impaired in one afternoon.Can you make it louder other than the left side buttons? I also have a screen saver or it but is for the iphone4.

Do you have: Settings > Sounds > Change with Buttons > ON? If so and you've maxed out the volume with the side volume buttons or the Settings slider, that's as loud as it gets. That sentence makes no sense, and I don't know what you mean by "screesaver"? No iPhone has a screensaver. Do you mean lock screen wallpaper? Isn't the iPhone 4 the model you have? Please clarify.

Hard drive sounds louder than expected when using a wacom bamboo tablet

i hace been trying to do some illustration work in photoshop CS5 using a wacom bamboo pen tablet
however as stated this seems to make the hardrive work louder then expected and i am worried that i could over heat and break my mac if i continue to work like this,
i dont even run any other programs well working (eg; safari or i-tunes)
i'm wondering if it is because my mac dosent have enough RAM to work both photoshop and the tablet at the same time and that if i add extra this would solve the problem
the tablet is powerd through a usb port

um i dont know how much ram it has ,but i havent added any yet so what it came with is the best answer i can give to that (sorry)

I am trying to make the volume louder than the standard controls allow me to. Using my laptop for conference calls with a large group of people is difficult.
I have the HP Elitebook Folio 9470m laptop.
My operating system is Windows 7 Enterprise, service pack 1.

As it turns out, Elitebook 9470m is an ultrabook standard PC and has tiny speakers which may be good for the person sitting in front of it but for a larger audience, the sound output is not adequate.
If it was audio from a video then you could have tried something but in a conference call, it would not be possible to increase the sound.
I suggest you to have a look at notebook portable speakers which come in a variety of sizes and are designed to fit in a laptop bag so that the user can carry them along. These are not very expensive.
Look for search query: laptop USB portable speakers.

Can't see the visual sound loudness bar on the screen anymore. Can anyone help

Ever since I updated some drivers I seem to not be getting the green bar that shows what your speaker volume level is on the screen anymore. The "FN right and left arrows" sitll adjust the sound up and down - but I miss the visual of the loudness level.
If anyone has any ideas on how to get it back, I would be very appreciative.

Hey Guys/Girls,
Here is my problem:
I just got my ipad Air 32gb yesterday and everything works fine, well...till I noticed that the right speaker sounded a little bit louder than the left one (it's noticeble). So now I'm confused, because now I don't know whether the problem is comming from the unbalanced speakers, or is it just the new stereo effect, which in my opinion still isn't balanced.
I'm not saying that the left speaker is not working, that one works, at least i hear sound comming from it ( I actually did a stereo-test on youtube, to make sure both of them will work, and so they did ). But whenever I do a test on it, using the sounds of the settings (Settings --> Sounds ---> Ringtones), it immediately feels like that the right speakers works much better or louder. Even during videoclips I have that unbalanced feeling.
So is there someone, anyone, experiencing this?
Or does someone know why this occurs? Defect? Should it be the way it is?
Perhaps one of you readers could test this and would share hes/her experience?
I would be gratefull.

i just fixed my ipad air's muffling sound and vibration issues. this may help your balance issue as well. hope below will help you all!
go to settings > general > accessibility > go to HEARING - move the bar all the way to R
hold Power and Home buttons to restart
go back to the HEARING settings - move the bar back to the middle
Now, the speaker should sound much clearer and balance. if you want to reduce vibration, turn the bar to L or R.

Seriously Sony My Nokia 808 Pureview recorded Loud Concerts perfectly!!! Amazing that i spent 450 Euros on the new Z2 Xperia and the audio recording isnt bad is ABSOLUTELY HORRIFIC!! Why have 4K Video if u cant record the sound. Even at a sports event it sounds Horrible... I NEVER had this problem on my Nokia Pureview... PLEASE FIX THIS!!! IT is totally unacceptable for a Flagship device!!

Because the CEO of Nokia is a moron that should have put ANDROID in the Pureview and that would sell a million units!!
But lastly Windows phone has NO let me repeat NO good apps!! If the Apps were equal, I would have absolutely no issue with getting a Nokia Lumia ahnds down!...You cant even get Tinder on a Windows phone!

XP startup sound loud and distorted when EQ is enab

I have a Soundblaster Li've! 24-bit card and, when I enable the equalizer, my Windows XP startup wav is super loud and distorted, but everything else sounds fine. Turn the eq off and the startup sound is normal again.

Hmm, enable your EQ, but in the mixer for volume turn it down a notch and also turn the wave volume down a notch as well. If you have it at 00% you can get distortion. Set Main Volume and Wave volume to about 90 % and see if that hel
