10.4.9 Update, not safe yet?
Hi,
I'm using my PowerPC Xserve as mail server, so after having read some of the threads here: Is it safe to install the update or should I wait for another patch to come out??
I don't want to disable my mail server by applying the update ...

im running 10.4.8 on my servers
thinking about the 10.4.9 update but i have made a few bit of modification to the mail configurations specifically postfix. am i right in thinking that the update will over write my postfix config file?
i looked at the update kbase here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=304789
and it doesnt look like its really got much in it that would be better than the 10.4.8, so i think ill stick with if it aint broke dont fix it unless anyone has some good points to make about it?

Central Adapter Engine, Mapping Runtime Cache (Central Adapter Engine) both are in gray color status (Cache update not yet started) .

okay, noW this is stupid, HTC ONE MAX RECEIVES sENSE 6 UPDATE IN Malasia yet we cannot get it here in the use on verizon, last Again and it has been in certification as long as EVERY OTHER HTC out there!!!! So verizon i know you will not answer this anyways cause your just too good to answer it , but WHEN ARE US LOYAL CUSTOMERS GETTING OUT SENSE 6 UPDATE ALREADY???????
its been 3 months now for certification process. I think we will receive this update for Christmas.Verizon really dont care about htc one max users. Dont lose hope htc one max users we will see this updates in our phones. i posted a picture conversation between me and htc. they said its verizon who releases updates for us not them, they delete my post i am sure 100% there is something going on with this update. they just dont tell us.

My iPod seems to be frozen on "Do not disconnect" yet it does not appear in iTunes on my computer ? Eventually I did disconnect. It's remains frozen and shows almost full charge.
I'm having similar problems. Here is exactly what happens to me:
I dock the iPod (I believe it is the 5th gen model, one of the first to play videos). Sometimes it syncs properly sometimes not. It will add songs not on my iPod, but it won't update the play count, last played, etc. The problem was fixed when I updated to a new version of iTunes (I believe it was 7.2 at the time, I could be wrong). So I played it off just being an iTunes issue. Well, with 2 updates since then, it has done it yet again. I've tried to restart the iPod using the menu+select key. It will work to remove the iPod, but it won't help in the future. The only way I can remove the iPod is to click on "Safely Remove Hardware." I know this isn't good for the iPod, but this is the only way that I can get the "Do not disconnect" icon off my iPod. Also, I tried to click "Eject iPod" (I've used this several times in emergency cases and worked wonders) but I get a message saying "iPod is in use by another windows program." I couldn't imagine what program is using my iPod. As far as I know, iTunes is the only program that can use the iPod on my computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated. -
My Ipod Touch has Software Version 4.2.1 and says that there is no Update available. Yet I see that IOS 5.0 is out. Why does my Ipod say that there is no update available and my Ipod is up to date yet there is newer software available?
Because you have an older model that is not upgradable to iOS 5.x.

I opened Firefox and got the message that I needed to download 4 because my version was not safe from attacks. I downloaded 4 and then I quit Firefox and reopened it, and got the same message as before. I am probably doing something incorrectly, but I have no idea what that could be.

today at 8am est my card was charged but when checking order status it saids expected ship date not available at this time and it also saids we received your order and it is in process . payment not taken yet

I'm having problems with a WSUS configured on a Windows Server 2012 R2.
The computers take and install the updates but in console they appear as
Not reported yet (different type of operation system - Windows 7, 8, 8.1, Server 2008, 2008R2, 2012 and 2012R2).
I've tried to delete the computers from server, wuauclt /resetauthorization /reportnow but the result was the same.
From all workstation I can access all WSUS related IIS links without any problem.

Well, that's that then. Configuration Manager Software Updates clients do NOT report to the WSUS server.
From what i've seen reinstalling OS of the system resolves the problem, but this cannot be a solution.
No, it won't, because shortly thereafter ConfigMgr is going to grab ahold of that system again and make it a ConfigMgr client, and disable client reporting to the SUP.
The *solution* is to ENABLE reporting to the Software Update Point in the ConfigMgr SUP Configuration settings.

Some Apps are not available yet.
Majority of the important apps are not available yet for Q5. Any updates on when this will be available. Like Viber and WeChat. WeChat is already available and it says that it's compatible with OS 10 but why is it unavailable for the Q5 in specific? Isn't Q5 running on OS10 too!?
Hi and Welcome to the Community!
App compatibility is the same as it has always been for BBs. All apps must be specifically ported to the exact device model number AND major OS level in order to function. That means a lot of porting for the developers, and sometimes they choose to not do so. An app that functions on Z10, for example, will not function on the Q5 unless the developer specifically ports the app for the Q5 (and pushes it correctly out via BBWorld).
Likewise, it's up to those app developers to choose what platforms they desire to support. If they do not support a platform that you desire, your channel to push for it is with the developer directly, contact information for which can normally be obtained in the BBWorld catalog.

I've been reading the various threads about the battery, whine and other problems and am wondering if it is safe yet to buy a MacBook Pro.I could probably hold off for another month but at that point will have to decide whether to buy a MBP or find a used G4.
Are the MBPs built more recently REALLY having fewer problems, than say the weeks 8-12 machines, or are the newer machines too new to have manifested the problems? Latter hard to answer I know but I'm looking for input.

I think it is safe to ignore what you read on these forums. I just received my 17" MBP, and it is flawless.
There is no "whine." Period. This MPB is a replacement for my final revision 17" Powerbook, and there is no discernable difference between the two, either in the sounds that it produces or the heat it generates. This last, in spite of the fact that the MBP lacks the rather large air "intakes" on the side that the Powerbook had. This leads me to believe that the CoreDuo requires less cooling than did the later G4s, and it follows that whatever temps these things achieve is normal and has been predicted.
I will say this: At one point, I took my Powerbook in to an Apple store to compare the display against a MBP. While there, I transferred one of my Desktop pictures over to the MBP via Bluetooth. I then compared the two displays, side by side, with the same pic set as the Desktop background. I really could only detect a marginal difference.
After having spent a day with the two machines at home, side by side as I migrated myself over, I have to say that the difference is, in fact, stunning! It's not so noticeable when one looks briefly at the two machines. Rather, it is revealed when I use the MBP for a while, then look over at the Powerbook. The Powerbook looks dim and washed out after getting used to the MBP. Dingy, in fact. Besides the speed, this is the one thing that stands out the most to me.
My Powerbook came to me in flawless condition. It has had quite a bit of use since I bought it (it survived a 10-week tour of the US with an opera company), but it is still in perfect condition. I neither expected, nor did I experience, any problems with it. The MBP has come to me in the same perfect condition, inside and out. I do not expect any more problems with it than I experienced with my Powerbook.
I do have to admit that most applications that must be run in Rosetta suffer for it. Anything that is Intel-native (Universal) simply screams (of course), but I have found that most PPC apps are discernably slower in Rosetta on the MBP than they were natively on the Powerbook. Mostly, this is detectable at launch; once an app is up and running it seems to respond well enough. Games suffer a great deal, though (Zero Hour is almost painful, compared to the Powerbook).
Rosetta does work, however. I have even managed, quite easily, to get Flip4Mac installed and working. When I want to watch video from the CNN website in Safari, for example, all I need do is launch Safari in Rosetta; the rest takes care of itself, and it is only slightly slower. The same holds true for viewing Windows Media files in Quicktime.
In short, I think the answer to your question is "Don't be silly, of course it's safe."

I understand your frustration, however update availability can vary depending on Region and carrier, this is because some regions and carriers may not have signed off the update or have policies preventing the update occuring.

Creating rows through entity variable makes updates not possible
I went through the following basic scenario of using entity variables in my BPEL process running in SOA Suite 11.1.1.3.0.
We have an ADF business component (SDO) deployed in the SOA environment which represents an updatable View object with all available methods exposed in the service interface. The primary key column in the underlying entity object is filled from an Oracle sequence when the entity is created.
When triying to make use of this SDO through entity variables later on I encounted the following strange behavior.
The Create Entity activity being placed alone in the BPEL can successfully create an entity, no problem with that. The transaction gets committed and a new row is inserted in the database. But trying to make this simplest scenario a bit more complex fails... Indeed let's put a simple Assign activity after the Create Entity activity and change some field's value. Running the process results in a fault being thrown with this in the stack trace :

This basically means that Create Entity succeeded getting the primary key value from the sequence and prepared the row for creation but a posterior update could not locate it in the view object. Probably the runtime was trying to get the row from the database but since the transaction had not committed yet it did not find the row.
I've been trying with no success to get any working samples in the Oracle documentation or any traces in Google about using entity variables to create and update rows in the same BPEL. The only references I found were about binding to existing rows and then updating them. I tried this out, it works but I need to CREATE and UPDATE rows!

Yes, I've met this issue.
The root of the issue in your Entity Object. I suppose that Pk is auto generated by sequence in your database. You should open your EO, then chose Attributes, then double click on primary key attribute. The screen named "Edit Attribute: <your primary key>" opened. Check the box Refresh After "Insert" in the bottom right corner of this screen. It means that after inserting of a new Pk in your table this one will be re-read back to VO and therefore you will be able to update the Entity variable. Clear all, rebuild, redeploy, enjoy.
You should to do it for all EOs you are going to use for creating Entity variables.
