so I try & try & try but it only works on one of my pc s but the macbook is no no & no
wrong checksum wrong this & that? when passing & going to install it will start & stop

Well, it took a trip to the Apple Store on Michigan Ave. but the problem was finally solved.
The Mac Genius was able to immediately load 10.5.2 using and external drive. it was while updating to 10.5.4 that he saw the same problem I had been seeing: "cannot not install... damaged source media...". He thought it had to do with the 'archive and install" option while the "preserve users and settings" option was selected. So he attempted to reinstall 10.5.2. This time it would not. He got the "damaged source media" message. Since it had worked before he was stumped.
Finally, he asked if I had any 3rd party memory installed. I told him I only had the additional memory I ordered when I ordered my machine from MacMall. He took the machine to the back and when he returned he said he had removed all memory and inserted 512K of Apple memory. From there everything went flawlessly. He suggested I test the memory modules when I get home to try and identify the bad module. I inserted each module (4) one at a time and ran Tech Tool Pro 4 memory tests each time. All the modules passed the tests.
The machine is running fine now and I got a free 512K out the deal so I can't be too upset. At least now I know if I ever have this problem (never had it with any other update) I will just pull all the other memory except the Apple memory, perform the install, and put the memory back. All in all, a minor inconvenience.

2. If I change the FT of my GR/IR commitment item to 40 (the correct setting), I still get the same error message as above.
Note: The offsetting commitment item's master record is set to a 30 (the normal setting for and expenditure commitment item).
Question: Could this be a program error?

Installing OD Master impossible

Lion 10.7.2 Trying to install OD master there is the failure "lion server the hostname does not resolve to any configured address" - impossible to establish.
changeip -checkhostname is ok, everything with "success".
In another thread I found this: /var/root/Library/Application Support/Certificate Authority - but this Certificate isn't established yet.
Any other ideas/help?

Checksum wrong in Mathematica 8

I'd like to use Mathematica 8 on my x86_64 desktop but the installation goes wrong from the first step:

Fortunately it works on my i686 laptop. So I tried to install it with schroot and also chroot on my x86_64 chrooting to my small i686 system inside. But none of them worked and I also had the same checksum (as outside chroot).
I tried many, many times to download it again from the webpage of the university but the checksum is always different. The checksum has also already been wrong on the x86_64 while for the i686 the same copy of the shell-script would have worked.
I think there must be something wrong with the checksum and the setup of my desktop. The problem is that the shell-script is quite huge (>1GB) so it's hard for me to look for what could not work in the shell-script and my arch machine. (The other reason is that my coding skills are pretty low.)
I hope that somebody can give me a hint because the support for Arch Linux at my university is lacking. (Of course I don't expect this. ;-) )

Mathematica 8.0.1 works fine here on Arch x64. Maybe the image that your university provides is corrupt. Maybe you could try to change line 4 in "Mathematica_8.0.1_LINUX.sh" to the MD5 sum that is computed in your version of mathematica - just to see if it installs then.

It appears as if my startup disk has been reversed and not using the fusion ssd portion as it should. At least its now reversed as to what it used to be originally before. the 128gb ssd used to be on top. Is my mac booting fusion correctly? Thank you for responding as I was about to reformat.

Windows 8.1 install on my windows 7 thinkpad yoga S1 impossible

I just bought a Yoga S1 20CD-00E4FR win7 is the default OS and the recovery partition contain windows 7.
There were 4 DVDs in the package for windows 8.1.
I tried to boot with an external DVD and it works, but after I choose the language and agree terms there is a window with the title Product Recovery and the message is Recovery failed
I tried to copy the DVD (with another DVD drive to be sure) on a bootable usb key and the same problem happens.
I wonder if they give me wrong DVDs, or if the first DVD is corrupted, or if it comes from my new laptop hardware ? Is there another option to install windows 8.1 ?
Additionnal informations : They have numbers so you follow an order, the number 1 is windows 8.1 recovery media for windows 8.1 products (which is weird because my default OS is win7) the number 1 contain 2DVDs with the same title and you can read Disk 1 of 2 and Disk 2 of 2 on them.
Number 2 is Operatin System Recovery Disc Windows 8.1 Pro (OEM activation 3.0 required)
Number 3 is windows 8.1 recovery media for windows 8.1 products
I tried to boot on another DVD but it only boot with the first one (disk 1 of 2 only).
I can clearly read on my seller's website Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64 bits installed + Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bits licence So I guess I am supposed to be able to install windows 8.1 without troubles.

Does the surface of the DVD look damaged? Maybe try a surface test on the media?

I tried this and still have the same problems. If I open Address book or the Mac App Store I get the library rebuild popup and a hang. I created a fresh user and then things are better apart from the printing issue. Its clearly some 3rd party software issue but the crash logs are meningless to me. I used the excellent Etre check app from http://www.etresoft.com/etrecheck so I have a list of what is being loaded and can compare clean and crashed user info but as I cant work out which of the startup items, launch agents, launch daemons etc that are causing the problem.
I have eliminated Dropbox, Mac Keeper and Witness, and it isnt related to my exterrnal LED cinema dispay or my external thunderbolt drives, or any USB devices if thats any help to anyone else. Info from Etrecheck follows -

If it is still goes to a red Verizon screen and then to black we might need to do a master reset. The dmg files have downloaded to the wrong folder - not finished with the install process

The dmg files have downloaded to the wrong folder - I am at the part of the download/install process where the "Welcome" screen appears asking for me to agree to the license agreement. Somewhere on your site, I read that they should NOT go to the applications folder but to the "Users" folder. Can/should I move/drag the folder with the dmg files into the "Users" folder"? If so, before or after I complete the install? I am running MAC OSX 10.7.4 on a MAC Mini.
Also, when the trial period is over, I will use the license number for the purchased software disks, should the dmg's/folders then be moved to the application folder or stay in the "users" section? I have Purvhased Adobe Photoshop Elements 10 and Adobe Premiere Elements 10, but somewhere on your site it was suggested to download them instead and use the license code at the appropiate time. If someone can help with these questions, I would appreciate it. Thank you

In the Welcome screen, you can accept the license agreement and can go ahead with the installation. You will be asked for the serial number. If you don't have one, install it as a trial application. By default, it's installed in the Applications folder. However, you can change the installation folder in the third screen, if you have a reason. Please see the screenshot below:
After installing, you can't move application to a different directory by dragging. You need to uninstall and install it again in the folder of your choice.

I recently installed the xbox 360 controller app so that I could play my rockband drums in logic and ableton live but I installed the wrong one and I was wondering if anyone knew how to uninstall it from the system preferences page and the whole program?

If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it and if anyone knows how to use the drum pads for those programs I mentioned would be great? I found a couple sites for using it with garageband but nothing as for mainly live and Im running OSX 10.6 so if anyone out there knows please let me know!!! The main reason I think I installed the wrong one is when I plug in the rockband drum kit to my usb port it dosen't show up in the xbox controller program but it lights up and I've tried all my different usb ports to see if that might be whats wrong but I still show nothing and I've also installed junXion and nothing shows up there either. So if anyone has any ideas just let me say thanks in advance!!!!!!!!

Impossible to install iTunes

I have a problem with the installation of Itunes on my XP pro SP3.
When I launch the install, a few moment later I have this message:

I tried to install with administrator session and in the safe mode but always the same message.
For information QuickTime is installed on my computer but it is impossible to uninstall it.

Log in to one of your Administrative accounts. Go "Start > Run", type regedit and hit enter.
Expand HKEYLOCALMACHINE
Expand SOFTWARE
Expand Apple Computer, Inc
Expand QuickTime
Expand Installed Files
Right-click on QuickTime.ocx and select "Permissions". Do your Administrative accounts have full permissions on that key?

Try updating your iTunes using an iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) installer file downloaded from the Apple website:
