10.5.2 CS3 Issues

I updated to 10.5.2 without much problem yesterday. The initial online software update hung on the first attempt, but was fine on the second. When it did a restart, it seem to boot twice and took its time, which was strange. I then ran the graphics update without problems. I must say though, this update/install was certainly not normal this time round, no..?
Initially, the only problem I noticed was I seemed to get fast video switching glitches with Safari on high end graphic pages when browsing, which I didn't notice before. But that problem seems to have gone away (?).
All my apps seem to work fine, apart from Bridge CS3. The preview plane becomes corrupt, especially if you close and then re open Bridge, although the thumb's are fine. It also still retains the last preview when you navigate to another folder until you actually select a thumb, which it never did before, and in general Bridge now seems unstable like not saving previous settings, and the instability is slowly getting worse.
I've reset the cache (ctrlaltshift) etc., but to no joy. All other CS3 apps ... Illustrator, Photoshop etc work fine... the problem is just Bridge. I suspect its something to do with finder as Bridge is in effect just a (flakey) file manager. Permissions..? if so, how do you reset these..? Has anyone has the same or similar problems with Bridge or CS3 with 10.5.2..? The only thing left is to reinstall Bridge (how on its own.. I don't see the option on my disk set..?) or more likely, the complete CS3, which is a pain as it takes literary hours.
Apart from that, 10.5.2 so far is running fine on my machine, and I like some of the fix's etc.
Steve

I only got CS3 yesterday (the day after I upgraded to 10.5.2), and I don't see any of the problems you describe, so maybe a CS£ re-instal will fix it for you.
You could create .dmg s from the DVDs, mount them on all the desktop then you can go out while it does the re-install

  • CS3 issues fixed in CS4?

Have the following issues in CS3 been fixed in CS4:
(Note: a few of these I've found already in the forum, but I am including an all comprehensive list anyway).
    1. Self resizing title pane.
    2. Still tiff image import incorrectly interpreted as an image sequence.
    3. Crash when exporting timeline directly to encore for disc burning.
    4. Audible clicks at audio edit points in final render.
    5. Missing shortcut menu items.
    6. Crash on rendering directly to cineform HD file (vs. AVI with cineform as compressor).
    7. Crash on rendering tiff images when more than one layer of images overlaps, (work around is to render images as video clips and replace - a pain).
In the past three years I've upgraded three times and I'm getting tired of drinking the cool-aide.

I agree that moving AME to standalone was a good decision. But I've been cntl-shift-Ming frames for years. Handing that chore off to a separate application is like swatting flies with a canon.
How does CS4 handle single tiff images? I render animations as image sequences and edit in CS3. It's no issue if I import those sequences as image sequences (selecting the image sequence checkbox). However, CS3 treats single image files from sequences as single frame video clips. I have to copy the image to a separate folder and re-import.
The bigger issue is that I'm fed up with three complete upgrades and have not had any significant improvement. I recall having better results and smoother workflows with CS 1.3.1.
I'm only two projects left open on CS3, then I have to make a serious decision and maybe demo that Studio 2 package my local mac vendor has been bugging me to do.

  • Adobe CS3 Issues with Snow Leopard 10.6.1

After spending an initial $1,800.00 for CS3, I'm not dropping another $40
0 to $500, just so I can use them under Snow Leopard. Although, I'm hearing a lot of issues with CS4 and Snow Leopard, too.
The problem I have found so far is that when any one of the CS3 applications attempts to check for "Updates...", they crash. I'm unable to update each of the CS3 applications from the original versions on my DVD.
I receive a dialog box that states that "Adobe Updater" quit unexpectedly.
Apple and/or Adobe MUST fix this. I have a newer Intel-based iMac. I completely reinstalled the Mac OS X to Snow Leopard and installed the Adobe apps on a clean computer. ALL of my other applications from other manufacturers are running fine

Can you get your updates from, say, [here|http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/search/index.cfm?loc=en_us&term=adobe%20upda tes%20photoshop%20cs3&cat=support]. Check fast these are search results. To reproduce what I found, I went to Adobe.com and searched on Adobe updates Photoshop CS3. That's the only CS3 program I searched on.

  • Flash CS3 Issues ..?

Hi - General question ii hope some cna help me with.
Recently downed Flash CS3 - Dreamweaver and PS
No issue on install - things i thought were going fine
Comps got a fresh OS and updated drivers new - 2 gig of
    memory.
i've been noticing little things like - when i save my fla -
i updates other .fla's in the same folder - (not with the same
    name)
I just built a CF and now - with no change to the swf - when
i saved the .fla after a minor update - it changed all the other
versions of .fla and the .swfs - all were empty - 1k swf and 1k
    .fla's after saving.
when attempting to preview the fla's i had been using and is
working fine on my site. Flash stated it had preformed and illigal
something? and crashed and keeps crashing upon attempting a preview
    whethr browser or flash.
I checked all code and code in the xml's js nad action
scripts html etc etc - it was fine
Now here is the kicker - my flash player ? seems to be
missing over and over - i go to the adobe site - it shows it's not
installed - i've installed it at least 8 damn times today. I dont'
know if this is realated - but - it seems to be happening
after deleting the 1k .swf's and fla files it produced
I coped and pasted a back up copies of the .swfs and .fla's -
which worked fine while in the back up folder - worked perfectly -
till i opened it up the .fla in flash ( rechecking code to be sure
    i didn't miss something.
Flash did it again, emptied or changed the back-up copy of
the .swf and .fla down to .1k - empty nothing there. all i did was
    open it up?
did a virus scan - a spy ware scan - nothing - didnt' think
there would be - but better safe than sorry.
These issues just really kicked in today - while i was
working on a final .fla and considering some changes additions -
going to experiment and get deeper into what i wanted to create.
Till around 4pm today my .fla's and .swf Previewed fine and
played fine - then just quit - and though it won't preview - i
tested a export movie - the new .swf worked???
    any thoughts on the cause?
    Possible software conflict - maybe?
but that wouldn't explain the Flash player not showing as
installed on the adobe site or would it.
I need to finish this fla soon, so i could use some help with
this if any one has some suggestions as to what may be causing the
    issues.
    tia
    - c -

thanx for the reply jdmajor -
as mentioned - i scanned yesterday - first thing was a boot
scan - memory scan - file scan - took 3 hrs to scan everything so
many times - nothing popped up - well.....
a Avast stated a cab file was corrupted on the boot scan -
reinstalled Avast - re-updated signatures and Re-Boot scanned,
    memory scanned.
Nothing showing as corrupted as far as viruses trojans worms
    etc
did the usual maintanence - defrag - etc etc which
    maintanance is done nightly anyway.
checked all updates for wares - nothing.
    drivers - nothing new.
The flash player needing to be re-installed has been from the
begining - lasts usually a couple days - then it shows as not being
installed and i have to re-install it - now it's worse - yet
thoughit shows not installed via the Flash Player page - it plays
flash fine so i know it's installed.
there are no hacked warz on the comp.
Tried again last night - with some other back-up copies of
    the fla. -
it keeps bring the 12k file to 1k and it refuses to work -
now claiming it can't load the .xml file which is ...
aaaarrggh! frustrating to say the least... lol up till 2:30am
    trying to fix it
rebilt another mini file - worked fine - maybe there is
    something conflicting with paper vision.
though there shouldn't be - i'm not re-writting the files.
Just opening an existing previously working .fla file.
I downed flash again last night - thought maybe a re-install
    of flash cs3
    - but...??? haven't done it yet
tried debugging the script - nothing other than it keeps
staing now that it can't load the .xml file
    checked pathways - a hundred times - they're correct.
issue is somewhere... that's for sure.
    thanx for the suggestion
i'll try a safemode scan - maybe it will reviel somthing
though to be honest i hope not - not wishing for virus or worm I'd
rather it be something else to be honest.
Doesn't anyone come up with viruses and hacks that do good
    things ?
    lol theres a thought

  • Export PDF from CS3 Issues

I am trying to export a PDF from InDesign CS3; however I am having issues with images moving when butted up against bars and/or background color set. First, when image has the pic boxed colored (which it really shouldn't) we receive a slight stroke around image. The files come like this from the customer, so forget not having a color, they are the customer. We have figured out that if the pic box has an object style applied to it (none +), which it shouldn't, it creates the slight stroke. Change the object setting to none, and it works fine. Also it does not matter if the image has been scaled up or down; it still displays the stroke with an object style.
The main problem is when a pic box butts up against color bar for some type of artistic design. The image is sizing down like a hairline and not butting to the color box in all fashions. What is funny though, the pic box has no object styling, but the colored box does because adding a color is adding to the object style (none +). I am exporting with no compression and high resolution transparency. These are the same settings we have used for years with no issues. It has to be a CS3 glitch. Anyone come across export issues in CS3 InDesign??

In the Output box, click Ink Manager. Click all spots to Process. This is if you don't mind if it's going to print, or be viewed, CMYK. We usually use Compatibility Acrobat 5 also.
This was our way of dealing with the "artifacts" as Adobe calls them. Not sure if it's your issue or not.
    Good luck.

  • Photoshop CS3 issue

I did a clean install of leopard. Then installed CS3 Design Premium.
Photoshop is acting very weird. I used to have the "flickering cursor problem", but I think it's gone after I did update Photoshop.
But I still have this weird problem with input menus - I can't enter values into font size/radius box (also into width box while tranforming). Sliders work fine but this is very annoying!
Also I see some weird graphical issues with menus and GUI (there's a slightly darker, but still cleanly visible gray rectangle under some buttons like SAVE, CANCEL, RESET and so...).
I've read adobe forums, and there are some people having exact same problems. Anybody else had similiar problems ?
As for now *PHOTOSHOP CS3 IS NOT FULLY LEOPARD COMPATIBLE !*

You saved me guy. I didn't have exactly te same problem as you but i tried to reinstall photoshop CS3 cause of the report problem window (where you explain what hapened and it sends to ADOBE (not apple).
And i have the same pro with firefox cs3 I guess it's the same combination of keys to get id of prefs…
But all of this hapened after I boot with disk warrior to repair catalog and permissions.
After that i had may be i still, i need to restart to see (i'm scared) problems. I was no more Administrator of the Mac … I'm shure thre is a link so i boot with leopard change my password then i restart Changing it in users. Now i pray cause i have a lot of work to do on Photoshop. Curiosly it didn't affect others app of CS3 suite…

  • InDesign CS3 importing AI CS3 issue

    Hi all,
I've got an AI CS3 file that is set up with an 11x17 artboard. There are some colored boxes that flow outside the artboard, but I did that intentionally for a bleed. When I bring this AI file into InDesign CS3, the image is cropped to the 11x17 artboard. Where did the bleed go?
This is a huge issue as a lot of my fellow designers create backgrounds in AI to bring into InDesign and we need the bleed. Does anyone have any thoughts on this? I realize making an eps avoids this issue but then you've got color issues, etc.
    Thanks in advance,
    Jen

    Here's the Illy CS2 Readme:
Adobe Illustrator CS2 has made a significant change in the way files
appear in other applications when saved in Illustrator. The artboard
(defined in the Document Setup dialog box, or when you create a new
file) will crop off anything that extends beyond it. Legacy files
(created in previous versions of Adobe Illustrator) are affected by this
new behavior when you save that legacy file in Adobe Illustrator CS2. If
you have artwork that extends beyond the edge of your artboard, either
move the artwork so that it fits on the artboard or increase the size of
the artboard in the Document Setup dialog box. This was an intentional
change in the way that Illustrator saves files, and ensures compliancy
with PDFX1a standards. This behavior is present in both Adobe
Illustrator CS2 and the 12.0.1 update, and will not be changed to the
old behavior in future versions of Adobe Illustrator.

  • Contribute CS3 issues

Am a bit new to the Web publishing world, but am familiar
with the pc realm. I just installed Master Collection CS3 and was
playing with Contribute. I applied the CSS patch to Contribute.
    Problems are:
    1. a. If I connect to a local site, edit a page, publish, and
get another URL from the home pages, gtg
    b. If I go to a remote site, do not connect, then go to
    homepages url, gtg.
    c. If I go to a remote site, connect, regardless of what
else I do, the remote site page will stay in the Contribute browser
page. If I get another URL from homepage, browser stays the same,
unless I hit edit, then selected site comes in. Once I discard or
publish, remote site page reappears. If I have pages in the page
windoe, I can get to those, but browser page reamins remote site.
Remote site page does have a flash video in it
    2. When I preview in browser, (Firefox, updated), firefox
windows up, but it is blank, no matter local or remote site.
I am running XP pro SP2 completely updated, defragged and reg
cleaned. Only problem so far with programs except for CSS warning
appearing on Dreamweaver home page after I installed fix.
    Any ideas??
    Thanks
    Joe

    Hi Rads,
For problem 2, I was editing a page in Contribute, and wanted
to use the preview in browser function. When I did that, Firefox
came up with an empty page. I have since contacted Adobe on this,
and they recreated the problem. I changed to IE as default browser,
and preview works ok, so it looks like a Firefox issue.
The first problem is when I connect to a site that has a
flash movie, the homepage for that site stays in the contribute
browser window, even if I select a different site. This does not
happen if I do not connect to the flash site. I am doing some more
troubleshooting on this. It is not a CSS issues as I have reverted
to the pre CSS fix file

  • CS3 issue with ProRes files with projects over 8bpc

Strange issue with ProRes clips I have had in AE projects in the past. Running CS3 on an Intel Mac with 10.5.8. If I bring an SD clip encoded in ProRes and I have the project set to anything over 8bit (16 or float) the clip just turns to noise, both in a comp and in the project viewer window. I can open the clip in AE (double click) and it appears just fine, same with just opening from the desktop. HD clips encoded into ProRes don't have any issue. The strange thing is that I have had some of this material in past projects with no problem. Nothing has really changed on this box since this cropped up. I've trashed prefs and resaved interpretation rules file, with no success. I also stripped out QT components to make sure I was not having a codec conflict. Has anyone run into something similar?
I have a very similar set up at home and I am not having any issue with these same files.

    Todd,
I do not. I did see a post of yours earlier regarding CS5 and AJA. Other issues I should look for?

  • Dreamweaver CS3 Issue

    Hi
I just upgaded to CS3. However, since the upgrade I am having
problem in seeing text in the template regions. If I try to zoom in
it becomes pixilated. I am using CSS. All these pages works ok if I
view them in the browser. They worked fine in DW MX. Anyone has any
idea how I can fix this issue.
    Thanks

I'm not sure what the issue is. You have text on a template
    page, and when
you zoom it's pixilated? Why are you zooming? What font are
    you using?

  • Encore CS3 Issues

    Hi folks,
Like so many, it seems, I'm having some serious issues with the latest CS3 release of encore, after effects and PPro. Some of the issues are relatively minor and can be dealt with.
However, my inability to actually burn a DVD using encore has left me with no other choice than to reload encore 2.0 for use. I find this troubling considering the rather large expense of the CS3 "upgrade."
Here's what I have encountered so far:
    1. when rendering a DVD from PPro, encore is incapable of actually loading the resulting *.m2v files...it just hangs.
    2. In Encore, I upload an avi, create a simple timeline (re: no menus) and attempt a burn. The burn transcodes, then goes to "importing" and stops at about the 99% mark, where it will, I assume, gleefully remain until I've turned to dust. When I canceled out of the burn, I was treated to an "operating system error" message. So, I suppose this has something to do with Windows...yet Encore 2.0, on my rig, had no such issues.
I've perused some of the other commentary on the forums and was disheartened to see so many similar complaints. I tried a few of the solutions, i.e. removing media cache from the registry, etc. Each attempt at a solution provided no joy.
The system I'm using runs win xp sp2, dual 3.6 Ghz CPUs, quadrofx 2500M, 3 Gigs of ram.
Any suggestions on improving the performance of encore would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

    Good day all,
I am hear to voice my complaint with Encore CS3. E3 will not burn a playable DVD. Here are the general specks on my end:
    Windows XP Pro with SP2
IBM Dual ZPRO @ 2.8 ghz and multi treating.
    Striped 7200 SATA drives,
    GeForce 6200 VGA card,
    DVD burner = Pioneer BDR-010A
    DVD burner = NEC ND-3520A Blu-ray
I have tried 3 times to create a viable DVD through E3 with no success. I do not have any problems using the interface and I get no error messages at any time during the creation process and the burns have always been reported as successful. Yet the DVDs will not play on any of my set top DVD player.
    Installation Facts:
I uninstalled Premiere Pro and Encore 2 before installing my CS3 Upgrade package. The installs reported no errors during the process. Also, having read several threads here, I also uninstalled Nero 6 and I have no anti virus software running. Additionaly, I have been running Encore 1.5 and 2.0 with Nero 6 installed with no problems what so ever. BTW, I always do a custom install when ever I have installed either Roxio or Nero so that I only take the normal core CD and DVD buring tools and not the other junk they want to install.
Encore 1.5 & 2 have been excelent performers and have never failed to create a perfect DVD on my Pioneer DVD burner.
Back to things at hand . .
I created a project in E3 and burned a DVD that would not play. Tried using new menu and new video clips and still would not make a playable DVD.
Reinstalled E1.5 and then E2 and used the exact same menu and videos and the DVD was created and played perfectly.
I also followed the suggestion that was posted about creating an ISO file. E3 made the iso file with no problems. I closed and then reopened E3 and asked it to use the ISO file to make a DVD and it did without any errors. However and once again, it would not play.
I took the above E3 created ISO file into E2 and the DVD was created and played on all of my set top DVD players.
So where is the problem Adobe? Some how you changed something and made the E3 software a bad investment. I have a Blu-ray burner all read to go, but if I cannot trust E3 to make a regular DVD, how will I ever trust it to make a Blu-ray? Adobe, please give us the straight up facts about what is going on and how soon you will have it fixed. I can tell you for a fact that there are several people in my area waiting to hear about my outcome before moving forward with P3 & E3. If what they have now works fine, then why would they want to stick their hand into a band saw.
Last note: I am not a newbee to this NLE world as I was a part of the Premiere Beta Program from the prerelease of 4.0 all the way through Pro 1.0 and also Beta Tested for Pinnacle on their equipment during these same Premiere testing.
    Regards,
    Chuck Bengele
I have not tried creating an FLV through E3, but that is the least of my concerns and value at this time.

  • Edit in Photoshop CS3 Issue

I have one computer where if I do "edit in Photoshop CS3," the file opens in Photoshop and the file name shows as a <image#>.CR2.  I can then save it as a jpg or whatever, and the added file shows up in my Lightroom catalog.  Perfect!!<br /><br />On my other computer, when I go through the same steps the file opens in Photoshop as <image#>-Edit.Tif.  And not only does it open this way (-Edit.Tif), but it automatically saves this image on the hard drive and adds it to the catalog regardless of whether I proceed to save in Photoshop or not.  This is driving me crazy, because it is saving multiple files and eating up hard drive space for no good reason.<br /><br />Can anyone help?  I've checked preferences, etc. 100 times but must be missing something.<br /><br />My "Edit in CS3" preferences are TIFF, sRGB, 8 bits, 250 resolution.  The "Edit Externally File Naming:" at the bottom of the Preferences page has "Custom Name" beside Template and nothing in the Custom Text line.<br /><br />Help!<br /><br />Thanks - Mark

Lee Jay, I want the 2nd to do the exact thing the first does. As best I can tell, I have them setup identical and the first computer is not doing creating/saving files with a -Edit.tif in the file name.
In any event, my bottom line is I want to choose "Edit in Photoshop CS3", have the file open in CS3 ready to edit, but not create a new file on my hard drive with a "-Edit" in the file name. I don't want anything automatically saved on my hard drive until I choose to save in CS3, and will likely save as a .jpg.
So how can I accomplish this?
Apologies for any confusion trying to explain this.

  • Reinstalling dw cs3 issues

trying to reinstall dw cs3. it askes me to insert pscs4 to continue installation. I'm using ps cs3 and its an upgrade download from adobe. how to i get around this? i didn't see it when i first installed a few years ago. thanks

Sorry to bring you bad news, but you have to start from scratch and reinstall everything. you have tainted your installer database with a CS4 or CS5 program (trial, public beta, whatever...) and this prevents any successful install of CS3 stuff. Read this and this for more information.

  • Photoshop CS3 issues:

    Hello,
I was wondering if someone else has been experiencing the same problems I have been having since I upgraded my Mac to Snow Leopard (10.6.1). CS3 has been extremely unpredictable especially Photoshop, because it crashes quite frequently. I used up my allotted three phone calls for tech support with Adobe and they will not help me and I was instructed me to go onto this forum so that is why I was hoping someone on here can help me. So far I havre deleted my preference file because I was instructed to which only helps for a little while before I begin to have the same problems again. Is there something else I can do to prevent Photoshop from crashing?
    Thanks, for your help.

  • Upgrading ID2 (not CS2) to CS3 - issues?

Hi, I have ordered an upgrade from ID2.0 (yes, really!) to IDCS3 Mac - should be arriving soon.
I also have a project (140 page catalogue) that is heading towards the "we want it NOW!" phase.
    So, a few questions...
    1) Is IDCS3 likely to be able to open ID2 files at all. (I have searched, but not found the information so far.)
    2) If it can open them, are changes likely to appear (from text reflow, and possibly other things I haven't even thought of)?
    3) If the wise choice is to keep working on this project in ID2, could I still install IDCS3 - should they be OK installed together or might installing IDCS3 cause problems with running ID2?
I realise that this particular upgrade path is probably not very common - any advice appreciated.
    Stewart.
    MacBook 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo / 1 GB RAM / OS X 10.5.3

    1. Yes, CS3 can open 2.0 files -- most of the time. If your 2.0 files are anything like mine, some of them have some corruption in them that makes them very fragile even in 2.0: those files might not open.
In some cases, I've been able to open them in CS or CS2 and so get to CS3 in more than one step, but you won't have that option.
    2. Yes, there will be text reflow and in some cases there will be bad spacing brought on by techniques that were forced on you in 2.0 that aren't necessary any more. For example, if you have an inline graphic as a drop-cap followed by a tab, it is likely to work differently in CS3 leaving a large space where the tab is rather than the small one you designed.
    3. Yes, you can have two (or more) version of InDesign installed at the same time. You just have to get out of the habit of double-clicking on files to open them.
