10.5.2 failed Install, now I cant log in to my computer, constant log in

I tried archive and install and it wont let me do it on that hard drive for some reason.

I had exactly the same problem. Installation failed and I received a message that the installer couldn't find "/" or something to that effect. When I restarted, I couldn't log in. I would log in and kept being brought back to the log in screen in an endless loop. Then I tried an archive and install and that failed also. Then I tried a clean install and a restore. Then when I tried to upgrade to 10.5.2, the exact same thing happened again. Finally a senior Apple tech told me to do the clean install again and upgrade to 10.5.2 before restoring. I did this and then restored my user folder. I selectively installed apps after that. Now it is working fine, but for 24 hours it was a real PITA! I had also tried single user login in Terminal but that didn't work either.

Assistanttolindsey the Adobe Download Assistant will download the installation files for Adobe Acrobat Professional XI. By default they are saved to your download folder. You can begin the installation process from there.

If that magnet was strong enough, it may have damaged your hard drive. You'll have to bring it in and see if you can get it repaired/replaced.

Failed install now won't ever install properly

I attempted to install Firefox before, but the network security settings at the time never let me complete that install - it got stopped at the point where it had to reboot to finish.
Now it is caught in an endless loop of wanting to restart Windows all the time, but never completes. The security settings were changed to allow me to install, but now when I download and restart the download, or even when I go to the programs menu and attempt to UNINSTALL the program, it just goes back to the damn popup about needing to restart to complete the original install!!! How in the hell do I get rid of the old one? The folder was deleted from the PROGRAM FILES, but STILL gives me this crap!

Not really solved, but I figured out a work-around. I went to "custom" and installed it to a folder on my desktop, then moved it to my program files. However, I still have the rebooting link in my Start menu, and I can't uninstall the new one even -- goes back to the same garbage as above!
There is obviously some remnant of the old, failed install in the system that is screwing with things, but I don't know where/what!

Use Google, you've used tinyumbrella (possibly) and you are not pointing to the correct server when you attempt to restore. You are going to have more problems when you get past that stage, go to Google and search for "downgrade from iOS 5 to 4.3.3."

Finally got AAM installed, now I cant install Apps

I had issues getting the AAM to install, those where cleared up. Now I cannot install Photoshop or After Effects. I get an error 403.
Muse oddly enough installed fine. I didn't have any issues on my laptop running snow leopard, but my mac pro on lion (10.7.2) has been a headache.

I found the full AAM on the adobe site, got that up and running again, BUT I still cant install anything. Even Muse which installed before the cleaner program failed.

Yahoo adaware installed, now i cant get rid of it in firefox, tried changing settings/deleting plugins folder.. HELP PLZ!

Tried installing what i thought was a legit file, turns out it was PC OPTIMIZER PRO/OPERA/YAHOO (why cant firefox make fix for this "force install" crap.. or windows a "black list" for this crap... any way these were force installed on my pc, was able to get rid of "pc Optimizer pro / Opera" but YAHOO is still lurking somewhere.. I USE GOOGLE LIKE THE REST OF THE PLANET! But no matter what i do i cant uninstall this crap.. tried deleting plugins folder C:\program files (x86)\Mozilla\browser/plugins or what ever it is.. also removed YAHOO from my settings... and its still forcing me to use yahoo as my search provider.

this was the first thing i tried, fixed it here is how (SURE FIRE WAY TO GET RID OF IT. TIRED OF SIFTING THROUGH USELESS POSTS TO FIGURE THIS OUT? HERE IS THE LEGIT FIX!)
open firefox.
go to Settings > Options > Search
un-check every search engine
change the "default search engine" to the engine of your choice and close firefox.
next go to Start > Run > regedit
Click search box and type "yahoo" it will take you to the folder containing the registry for "yahoo" delete the whole folder.
restart firefox.
Check to be sure it worked, (you may need to reset the "default search engine" again.)

Installed iMessage beta, cant log on, iCloud now won't log on either.

The subject tells the tale. iCloud was working fine on my MacPro running 10.7.3. Yesterday I installed iMessage beta. Once I rebooted I tried iMessage but could not log in. I went to System Preferences to check the settings for iCloud and saw I was logged out. Trying to log in resulted in the dreaded "This Apple ID is valid but is not an iCloud account.".
I removed iMessage beta, but nothing changed. I checked the forums and deleted the networkconfiguration.plist file and rebooted. No change.
Sigh.
Any ideas on how to get iCloud and hopefully iMessage working?

There are two issues here.
1) Messages beta after the Install and restart will ask for an Apple ID.
It does not have to be an iCloud one.
2) On the iCloud front can you log in on the web site rather than via the Mac itself in System Preferences > Mail, Contacts and Calendars ?

On both the iOS 5 devices and the Mac the relevant apps are called "Messages"
They Send iMessages (to iPhones, iPads, certain Touches and Messages Beta using either the Phone Number or Apple ID).
Messages beta on the Mac can also do everything that iChat can do (at iChat 6)

I accidently logged off with Guest user and now I cant get back into my computer it is threatening to loose all my documents

As i am the sole user of my computer i dont use my password, therefore to be honest i have forgotten it. Now I dont know how to get my password back and i cant delete the guest user which seemed to have put itself there. if I try to delete. It I am told i will lose all my files. I simply switched off last night as I was so frustrated by it. technical terms are not much use to me, at 78 i feel I just need simply directions as to what to do. i am sure there is nothing wrong with the desktop. i would be grateful for any suggestions

Your Mac encrypts your password as it is entered. It is never stored "in the clear". It cannot tell you what it is, or even how many characters are in it. All it can tell is, when you enter it again and it encrypts it again, "was that it?"
So you will need to Reset your password, which changes it permanently, deleting the old one.
