10.5.2 kicks me back out when I log in
I've updated my MacBook from 10.5.2 to 10.5.2, and now when I log in as my usual user, I don't get as far as the desktop before I get kicked back out again. It's hard to tell what's going on, too, as I'm getting vast amounts of segmentation faults for "mdworker" thrown into my system log all the time. That being said, I've attached a log of me logging in below. Anyone got any ideas? I can log in as a different user with admin privilege, so I may be able to start getting rid of things from my usual user account if I know what to get rid of...
The update worked fine on my iMac, with a very similar user account (thank goodness!)

Thanks; I did try most of that last night, though it didn't work, unfortunately. I eventually tracked the problem down to some bizarre corruption in the Launch Services database, as discussed here (where you've also replied, thanks!):

...so even moving all the user's stuff to one side and deleting and recreating the account didn't work. The only thing I can guess is that the LaunchServices database/cache must have something in it tied to the user's uid, which doesn't get cleared out when that user is deleted. LaunchServices was fine for everyone else, but broke even for a completely new user with a new name that got created with the problem uid. Nasty.
It was pretty lucky I had a safe Admin account hanging around for just such moments as these (and also pretty lucky that I'm a hardcore geek, really )

You will need to go to the folder where the database is stored on your computer (location is dependent on Mac or Windows system) and either delete two folders or rename them.
I am on a windows 7 computer so your file locations may be a bit different than mine especially if you are on a mac.
Close the manager. {this requires right clicking on the manager's icon in the taskbar} (Clicking the X in the upper right hand corner does not shut down the program, it only hides it)
In windows Explorer go to the following folder location: C:\Users\{Name goes here}\AppData\Local\Adobe
Find the folders -
AAMUpdater
OOBE
Rename them
AAMUpdater.old
OOBE.old
Start the manager, type in your username and password then OK the license agreement.
At this point you should be ready to go. -
Backing out of or logging off the website
I have no problems setting up the router or using, but I do have a problem signing off the web site after setting up rules. There is no logoff or signoff button, so I assume you just back out. The only problem is the next, when I want to edit a rule, I do not have to enter password to get back in. Is this a weak link?
Yes, I am talking about the router setup page. I wanted to add some rules for internet access, had to enter password to get in. I was able to add the rules I wanted and backed out. The next day I wanted to edit one of the rules and to my surprise when I went to the website it did not prompt me form password, it took me right to the setup page. If someone knows the address of the network, they could change settings/rules without the network manager being involved. This is a problem, I think.

HT1152 my macbook pro is spitting dvds back out when I put them in. Any ideas?
Also, I now have another problem. There is an admin password on the computer but since I use that account all the time I do not set it to require the password. Now it wants the password to move anything on the internal drive to the trash. Also, when I enter the password, the trash looks like it's been emptied but there is no more space on the drive so in fact the trash has not been emptied.
I have repaired permissions and have got as far as restarting with the command and R keys pushed and repairing from the disk utility there as well.
None of this solved the problems.Reset the NVRAM/PRAM and Reset the SMC, then try again.

Osx 10.5.8 logs me out when on safari
Started yesterday.. When I am running Safari the system will go to sleep. When I log in and click on safari it will kick me back out to the sleep screen showing all the users on the mac (as if logged out of session). The only fix is to reboot the system - then I am ok until it goes to sleep again.

On my computer I apply for unemployment benefits at the Unemployment Insurance Agency web-site. Just recently, when I log in for benefits, I get to the second page, and I get automatically kicked back to the log-in page. I went to my local library, and I do not have this problem. Connect your iPad to your computer. In the iTunes window under the Summary tab make sure there is enough storage space.
Since the problem stems from downloading, try resetting your network settings.
Tap Settings / General / Reset / Reset Network Settings
Restart your iPad and try downloading again.

A Couple ddays ago I noticed my phone started acting wierd like the white screen with the apple picture on it popped up when I was on the phone.. All my contact names were deleted, and hours later the names popped up again. Not today I noticed something that's really ******* me off!!!!! (Lol) when I check to have battery percentage on (it's green showing its on) but it doesn't show at the top, and when I back out of the setting and go back the battery percentage is off again! Now with my text tingtone I try to change it back to how I used to have it and it just doesn't let me! I click a certain sound and back out of the settings and it's back to the defauLt !!!!! And check this out!!! The weird part is my phone randomly turned off by its self and when it came back on , I checked my photos and about 20 photos that I deleted months ago were mysteriously added back onto My phone! Having your device malfunction can certainly be frustrating. After reviewing your post, it sounds as though your device is experiencing multiple issues. I have located an article that can help with software issues. Have you attempted to restore the device to factory settings without restoring from a backup? Test the issue on a new installation, and make sure that it works. Then use the same article to restore from your backup to either verify it still works, or isolate the issue to the backup itself.

Connect it to your computer, open iTunes, the last backup time will be displayed on the iPhone Summary tab in iTunes

Since I upgraded my Ipad2 to IOS6, I keep getting kicked out of Safari after I am in the middle of searching for something. Also, Ebay kicks me back to first item if I click on an item, say number 153 or 642! Very annoying. Even CNN kicked me out back to Ipad home screen last night! How do I make it stop???
My question is this:
What is the best way of getting the pictures out of the iPhoto Library? I
Select the photos you want out and export them as JPGEs - kind = current for the current edited version - kind = original for the original
f I get access to the original folders within the library by right-clicking any photo and then being able to browse inside the library, am I going to have any problems if I copy or move those original pictures directly to a folder outside of the iPhoto Library?
Copying photos out will not be a problem if you make no errors - for me that is not a good bet - it is best to stay out of yoru iPhoto library

Does exporting using "current" under "Kind" give you the original more safely?
No - it gives you the current version which may be the original if no changes have been made or will be the current edited version if edits ahve been made
Also, any suggestions on how to best have photos OUTSIDE of an iPhoto library organized so that iPhoto can reference them, but your backup is also organized?
In the iPhoto preferences un check the advanced preference to "copy imported items to the iPhoto library"
HOWEVER - this is not recommended - it makes importing more complicated, deleting more complicated and makes replacing a hard drive or going to a new computer much more difficult - and it puts you totally in charge of your original photos - being sure that they are there and do not get moved
I'd like to have my photos organized by date in the backup as well, so that I don't have to backup all my pictures every time I add new ones, just add the latest to the backup drive.
Finally, any suggestions on what to do with pictures that you scan so that they appear by the date they were taken as opposed to the date they were scanned? Is there a way to modify the date of the photo info?
Select the photos in iPhoto and use the batch change command under the photos menu - the tiem and date option
