10.5.2 : Unable to install update...gets hung up

I downloaded the update last night and let my Mac run all night to install the update. After the reboot, it had the blue screen with the grey install box and a status the bar.....The status bar was empty.....Over 8 hours went by and nothing happened..
So I restarted into Leopard and chose to install the update again, I let it run, went to my classes, came back (about 2 hours later) and apparently it installed the iPhoto update along with trying to install the Leopard update. The status bar was almost halfway full and said "Installing 1 of 2 items" So I let it sit until now )3 hours later) and it hasn't moved.
What do I need to do to install the update?

I'm thinking maybe the problem is the update package?
Anyone know how I can re-download the update?

Which way are you trying to update? WiFi or iTunes? In either case, I would try restarting/rebooting all devices and then try again.
IF you are using iTunes, eject your iPad, quit iTunes, reboot your computer and reset your iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons until the Apple logo appears on the screen. After the iPad starts up, connect to iTunes and try again. You may also want to disable your firewall and antivirus software when you try to update using iTunes. Sometimes those will interfere with the download.
If you are using WiFi, reset the iPad as described above and try again.
If WiFi updating will not work, try using iTunes, if iTunes will not work, try using WiFi.

Even I got same mesage but after restoring the phone using itunes, it worked for me. First restore and update your phone again using itunes.

I have exactly the same problem. iPhone 4S, never been jailbroken. Not behind a firewall and it happens whether I am on my home compute (iTunes) or directly thru Settings_Update.
Looks like loads of people are having the same problem - and as far as I can see, Apple's sole reply is jailbreak or behind firewall/ security settings/anti-virus. None of those apply here!

I don't understand what you did. There are 2 ways to update. Nothing to download. If you downloaded something you did it wrong.
1. On the phone go to Settings/General/Software Update. Follow instructions on the screen.
2. Connect the phone to iTunes and click the Update button on the summary screen in iTunes.
There are 2 situations where these won't work. 1. The phone is jailbroken. 2. You have the beta iOS 6 on your phone. For that you need to get the update from a developer.

IOS 6 Error - Unable to install update

I downloaded the IOS 6 update and clicked on Install Now. and click to Agree. It says verifying update and then I get the error "Unable to install update. An error occured installing IOS 6." I get a choice of Close or Settings. Both take me back to IOS 6 update screen. It does say it's downloaded.
I've tried turning the new iPad off and then back on. My current OS is 5.1.1 ((B206)

Not sure if this will help on iPads, but I was getting error message when I tried to "Install Update" on my iPhone 4s. Every time I would hit the Install button and agree to the terms I would get the pop up message that the "Software update not available at this time. Try again later." What I did was turn off wifi and went back to install and it worked! Well, it is currently off with black screen and apple logo with upgrade bar so we'll see. Hopefully no futher issues arise. Good luck everybody!

Is the software update from HP or Windows? What does the full error message state as it appears on your computer's display?
In the meantime, I recommend following the steps in this document on "Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes. Do not turn off your computer" error when y.... This should enable your system to successfully install Windows updates on your system.

What model iPad and what version of iOS is it currently running?
If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
    •    Launch Settings app

    •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

There is no such thing as an iPhone 's3'. There is a 3G which can only be updated to iOS 4.2.1 and a 3GS which can be updated to iOS 6.1.3.

If you did the update through iTunes, try going into the Settings App on your iPhone and doing the Software Update in there. The same thing happened to me, and the wireless update worked.

Have you tried reseting the iPod? Notihng is lost?
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at

Attempted to re-install the original Adobe Acrobat 10 Pro from the disk provided with the purchase; and it has put me in a trial; and is requesting that I purchase the software I already paid for, two years ago.

You can try a repair (may need to go to Control Panel>Programs & Features). A reinstall is a last resort, but if you go there be sure to uninstall from the control panel, run http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html, and remove any part left of the Acrobat folder. Then reboot as the administrator and reinstall. Be sure to disable antivirus during the install.
