10.5.3 broke my bluetooth

I just updated my 17" powerbook G4 to 10.5.3, and upon booting my bluetooth icon on the menu has a jaggen line through it and the pulldown menu for it says "Bluetooth: Not Available." Under the bluetooth area of the System Profiler, it just says "No information found." I had bluetooth fifteen minutes ago, I "upgraded," and now I have no bluetooth. Spaces is also pretty flaky, but I'm pretty annoyed at the loss of bluetooth because that's how I connect to the internet. Any ideas on how I can fix my computer? Can 10.5.3 be rolled back, or is it a clean re-install for me?

I'm using MacBook DuoCore, before I updated to 10.5.3 my bluetooth is working perfectly with Wireless Mighthy Mouse.
But after I updated the os, it started showing the problem.
Right now, my bluetooth randomly disappear and appear, it's really can't use anymore.
I try reseting the SMC but it didn't help.
Next time it's happen I will try resetting the PRAM.
Thanks and I'll update you with the problem.

Nice going, Apple. Your handy little update now prevents my (formerly) flawlessly working Apple Bluetooth keyboard from pairing. Bravo! Maybe you can teach Microsoft some lessons...

Have you tried deleting the pairing and then using the Bluetooth Setup Assistant to re-pair with your iMac?

  • 10.4.3 update broke my bluetooth ?

I just updated to 10.4.3 from 10.4.2 tonight. I just opened addressbook to send an SMS message via my T610 bluetooth cell phone, and addressbook would not connect to my phone. I went to the bluetooth setup assistant to try to re-pair my phone but no luck, it just won't find the phone. The phone is on discoverable mode, all looks like it should work. Worked perfectly fine until I upgraded to 10.4.3. I'm working on an iBook G4 800Mhz/ 640MB/ Airport, bluetooth. Any suggestions?

I'm having similar problems! My T610 which has always worked well with both Address book and isync will not connect at all. I recently bought a motorola V3 which connects succesfully with isync and syncs well, but will not allow me to send SMS messages or dial from address book. Am really disappointed by this. Does anyone know if there is anything I can do about this or..... has anyone successfully sent sms messages from address book via a motorola V3. Considering apple are advertising a so called partnership with motorola I was expecting motorola to work better with my mac than any other phones.

  • Mini and Latest Lion update broke my Bluetooth

    Hello
Anyone else having bluetooth connection problems with the latest update of Lion OS?
Booth Apple Keyboard and Trackpad are now unuseable. Fortunately I have some old USB mouse and keyboard kicking around.
    Joseph

Obviously nobody else has ever heard of this problem...as I have received no replies. Still am unable to launch the system and have read and tried everything I can find online. I really can't afford to take this to a service place as they want to charge me $125/hour to fix it...but my life and work are on this laptop and I was hoping to solve the problem myself simply. oh well, thanks to anyone who read my post anyway...I'll just bite the bullet. P.S. I'm writing this on a Windows XP platform and maybe that's the next way to go...sorry Apple. It's hard to find technicians to fix your stuff. Windows techs are a dime a dozen.
I was doing an automatic software update last night
of whatever the latest security update is and in the
process while still running other tasks in the
background, the software froze up. I rebooted and all
I got was the gray screen with the apple and the
spinning gear. So I tried rebooting again and again
and again. Nothin. It will not boot from any startup
disk while holding the "c" key. (OS 9 or 10) I have
removed the battery and tried with just the power
adapter. nothin. I have tried booting in safe mode.
nothin. I have zapped the pram. nothin. I have zapped
the nvram. nothin. It's an ibook G4 14" opaque white.
I'm running OS 10.3.4. I have an airport extreme card
installed. Any help would be delightful! Thanks!

  • Intel Mini: Diabling the onboard bluetooth hardware/using a Dlink USB BT

I have a Intel Mini Core 2 Duo (1.8x Ghz)
I broke the bluetooth antennae connector inside the case while upgrading the memory. My BT keyboard and mouse continues to work, but only with the case open, and when they are very close to the computer.
I have located a replacment bluetooth board, but before I spent any mulah to fix the problem, I am wondering if it would be possible to just use a Dlink BT 120 USB device that I already own.
From what I can tell this particular device is one of a few that will specifically work with Macs. In reading it sounds like it should work without any needed drivers.
I am relatively new to Macs, so the process for getting things working is a little fuzzy. I've tried to google this, but haven't found any specific help.
When I plug in the Dlink, the connection to the onboard BT stops working with the existing keyboard and mouse. There is not any obvious signs that the Dlink is doing anything (no windows pop up to state it is connected etc, and there is not anything new listed in the BT sys pref pane). It seems to me that the two BT devices are fighting with each other, and I don't know how to make them play nice.
I did download the apple BT firmware updater, which I believe is needed to convert the Dlink over to a mac friendly firmware. I ran the updater with the Dlink plugged in, and it seemed to run fine, but I guess I wouldn't know which BT device it was trying to update...
Anyway, if there is a guru out there that can help me get the Dlink working... I am all ears.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Nokia 6680 or N70 ?

Hi i have had an xda2i and pocketmac software for over a year and have had a nightmare with ical syncing. Which nokia should i go for, for trouble free ical syncing and all round good phone - 6680 or N70 . I see that isync dosn't support the N70 but there is software on the web - is it a hassle?
    thanks
    powerbook   Mac OS X (10.4.4)

    Hi Toddtastic.
Out of interest, do you sync with Bluetooth? If so, can you upload from your phone? I ask as I see you are on OS 10.4.4, which broke the Bluetooth syncing, preventing most from being able to upload. You'll see a lot about this on many of the Mac forums, including the Bluetooth forum here.
In reply to your software question regarding the N70, I've heard nothing but good things about Nova Media's iSync plugins. Take a look:
    http://www.novamedia.de/sync/
Incidentally, I have the Nokia 6670 at the moment, but am waiting for the N80 to come out.
    Hope this is useful.

    Steve

  • I upgraded my iPhone 4 to ios 5.1 and it broke bluetooth

I upgraded my iPhone 4 to ios 5.1 and it broke bluetooth with my Altec in-motion bluetooth speaker. I now have to "Forget the Device" and re-pair them each time I want to use the iPhone with that speaker. This always seems to work, but it takes way too long to be feasible as a long term solution. Occasionally if I don't "Forget the Device" the iPhone Bluetooth settings will show "Connected" to the Device, but no audio comes out of the speaker even though Music on the iPhone appears to be playing as it normally would if there really were a Bluetooth connection to the speaker. When that happens, I have to once again "Forget this Device" and start over again.

The iOS5 upgrade has made a mess of the bluetooth connectivity.  iPhone4 was paired perfectly to 2012 VW GTI and played all playlists fine.  After upgrade, can see the song, see the timer counting down as if it is playing, but no sound.  AND iPhone 4s paired paired with 2008 BMW handsfree telephone before the update, now I can't use the phone in the car.  WHAT GIVES???  Anyone with ideas out there???

  • My bluetooth headset stopped working! Whoever broke it must fix!

I occasionally use a bluetooth headset, but it stopped working recently. The status icon in the menu bar shows it is connected - but no sound comes to the headset. This used to work perfectly a month or so ago. This seems to be a software problem, introduced by one of the software updates. I tried to connect the bluetooth module to my vmware-fusion Ubuntu guest OS and it works perfectly. It is kind of sad and ridiculous that the bluetooth works on the guest OS, but not on the host. This problem must have been introduced recently, because it used work perfectly on the host as well. I tried to find a place on the apple support web site to report the issue, but all I could get to was place to talk with an expert after paying for it. I just hope somebody from Apple support reads these forums, because there is nothing the users can do here. Whoever broke it must fix it!

...explains my frustration with questions like: "Are you sure you are not using a bluetooth dongle?"
In point of fact that wasn't the question. It was whether you were using built-in Bluetooth or whether the headphone was one which relied on a USB dongle. Either might have been true and would affect the fault-finding process. The more information you can provide in a post the less necessity there is to start with the basic questions.

  • Upgrade broke bluetooth - would like help diagnosing cause

I ran two pacman -Syu cycles today and one or other (but I'm not sure which) has broken bluetooth. I would like, if possible, to figure out the most likely causes and whether there is anything which might have avoided this.
A little background: bluetooth has always been dodgy on this machine. A BIOS upgrade helped but has not really resolved the issues under Linux. (Can't say about Windows as I don't use it.) Since the upgrade there is a reasonably certain way of restoring bluetooth but it is, frankly, a PITA. (It involves resetting BIOS to defaults which renders the machine unbootable as it wipes the EFI boot entry for grub. This is easily fixed but it is a pain to have to go through this all the time.)
The issue is that bluetooth appears as hard blocked and nothing I've found short of the above reenables it.
    Here's pacman's log for today:

I assume that obex-data-server is a plausible culprit but I'm not certain whether other things might be implicated such as glibc.

I'm not sure why "adaptor  /org/bluez/447/hci0" would be disabled? Or what would have disabled it? I guessing this is the key but is this a symptom or a cause?
EDIT: I just realised that in the above output, CROND seems to be using the lts modules for bluetooth (not sure what cron does with bluetooth). The records show that I was not booted with the lts kernel at this point. (I had to check as I did try the lts kernel when my machine was badly overheating but it didn't seem to help.) I have no idea what those commands are trying to do, but is that expected?

Well, what does your root crontab show?  I guess you should probably also dig around to see if you can figure out where those cronjobs are running from.  They indicate root, but I know that can also come from the set of scripts in /etc.
What happens if you modprobe that module.  Like maybe load it (and hope that it then loads the right one), or removing the module and reloading it.
Also, the other day, I discovered that with UEFI, you can have a default efi program that doesn't require a boot manager entry.  Anything that is saved as \EFI\boot\bootx86.efi will automatically be booted when you select your device from the boot manager menu (like the hard drive itself, as if you were going to boot from the mbr).  I am not sure what would happen though if you were to have two efi system partitions though, but I am fairly certain you only have one.
So I have set my system up so that I have one boot manager entry for linux-ck, and then my hard drive is second in the boot list.  So if I selecy my hard drive, I have gummiboot set up as bootx64.efi, and from there I have all my other possible boot methods, including the shell.  Since you are a grub user, maybe you should copy grub to that position and see what happens.  I guess this is why the bios has a setting to switch whether uefi or bios should be tried first.

  • Ics broke bluetooth to auto for calls and audio playback

After upgrading to ICS (4.0.4) on my RAZR MAXX, I can no longer maintain a bluetooth session with my car and the audio playback is not working at all.  The connection begins and drops after less than 1 minute.   This cycle repeats.  Calls and audio worked with the same car configuration in Android 2.3.4.  After a long search on the net I learn that this is a common problem.  Has anyone heard about a patch or work around?  I tried disabling wifi - no joy.

I have the same problem with my DROID RAZR.  I use a Plantronics Pro+ headset and regularly have hour long conference calls.   I had no connection problems prior to ICS.  When I upgraded to ICS, the Bluetooth connection started dropping.  It will drop then reconnect, then drop, then reconnect, every couple minutes.  I end up holding my phone to one ear with the Bluetooth on the other, the call rotates between them.  VERY ANNOYING.  UNACCEPTABLE.  I tried a second Bluetooth headset (also Plantronics Pro+).  it worked for about  2 days, then had the same problem.
From reading various postings, I believe this is a problem with ICS and the Bluetooth connection.  Nothing to do with what type of headset, automobile, etc.  It may be only those of us that had Android 2.3.4 and upgraded to ICS.

  • TS3048 I just bought a new Bluetooth mouse but I can't set it up bc my other mouse broke

I Just bought a new Bluetooth mouse because our old Bluetooth mouse went out. I'm trying to set it up with no mouse. I can't click on anything because I have no mouse. Is there anyway to open the Bluetooth connections just using the keyboard?

You have me confused as to where the apps really are. You mention iPod and mention that the iPod isn't your primary computer. Obviously, it can't be - its an iPod. I'm not trying to be a jerk - I just dont understand what that means.
The you say that the old computer is the primary computer for iTunes. That makes more sense. Anyway, you could have transferred the iTunes library from the old computer to the new Mac, but I assume that you did not realize that.
So ... If the apps are on your iPad - but did not transfer to iTunes when you synced the iPad with the new Mac - transfer Purchases. Connect the iPad to the Mac, launch iTunes, right click on the iPad name on the left and select Transfer Purchases. That will put the apps in iTunes on the Mac.
Movies cannot be downloaded again for free because Apple does not have an agreement with the movie studios to allow for that. At least that is how I understand the way that works.

  • My Mad Catz Bluetooth set for the ps3 broke where the charger plugs in?

    whenever I plugged the charger into the Bluetooth set, I had to move it around or else it wouldn't charge an today when I moved it, the part where you put the end of the charger in sunk in and I fixed it but it stay.. is there any way to make it stay?! help! ________________{Links Removed per Forum Guidelines}

    Hi,
It's the charger. iPad Minis use Lightning cables, which are truly the most unreliable cables ever used to charge a device! I've gone through seven in a year.
The iPad should be fine. Try some other cables. If they fail, go to an Apple Store and hopefully they can help.
Hope this helps and Happy Holidays!
