10.5.5 and DPP

Hi
Maybe this is the wrong forum but i wont know until i post the question.... ok here go's...
I am a professional architectural photographer and use all Canon equipment. I shoot in RAW format and up until a couple of weeks ago processed all my images in Canon's own Digital Photo Professional.
All was fine until I installed Leopard on my G5 Dual 1.8. Now whenever I open DPP (Digital Photo Professional) and pick a folder with some Raw files in it the application crashes. At first i though a simple uninstall/re-install of DPP would sort the issue. Nope.... Then I tried repairing permissions both from the Leopard Installer CD and from the OS itself..... nope... next up I did an Leopard Archive and Install (again) but still no joy....! Next up I tried setting up a fresh user account and loading DPP from there... no that didn't work either.... Finally I tried installing Leopard on an external firewire hard-drive and using it as my boot drive. Finally.... yes it worked. When I opened DPP and selected a folder with some Raw it didn't crash...! Great.... except I dont want to be working off a slow external hard-drive. So apart from completely wiping my original problematic hard-drive and doing a re-install of the OS and every bit of software I have collected over the last 10 years, what are my options....? I know I could use a different Raw converter but I have a decent workflow set up in DPP and am a wee bit reluctant to change at the moment. So any ideas....?
As a matter of interest DPP works perfectly on my Powerbook G4 on Leopard 10.5.5...! And on a mates Powermac G5...!
Curious....! Any feedback would be appreciated.
Richie

I wish I could be the bearer of good news but I had similar problems with DPP. It installed perfectly fine on my MacBook (running 10.5.5) but my intel iMac (also running 10.5.5) was another story. Multiple reinstalls of DPP, trashing the preferences files, correcting permission did not work. Archive and reinstall of Leopard did not work. I spent over 1 hr with Canon tech support, 30min with AppleCare (hoping they could shed some light) and nothing worked. Under the root Library/Preferences my iMac was not creating a Digital Photo Professional folder and that seemed to be one of the causes (or results) of the crashing. Only after erasing the hard drive and reinstalling Leopard and all programs did I finally get DPP to work. If you can live without DPP and use another program, do it! I was just too stubborn to admit defeat a so I had to get DPP working!
There is another thread on this same subject. Do a quick search on DPP to find it. There might be some things that you haven't tried yet.
Good Luck

    Hi MztengaM!
Welcome to the Canon Forums, and thanks for your post. Canon USA does have a Flickr Group already established! It's called "Canon Imagination." While it does not focus solely on Digital Photo Professional, it is the one and only official Flickr Group for Canon USA. Feel free to join and contribute! This is the URL for the group: http://www.flickr.com/groups/canonusa

  • *Shocked* by the performance of Canon DPP, and DDP workflow with Aperture

I love Aperture. My brother mercilessly hounded me for two years, and when Aperture 2 came out, I gave it a shot. Aperture 3, despite my nightmare conversion story, has been a dream come true . . . until I discovered sharpening.
In my quest to get sharper photos, I've toyed with image stabilization, tripods, higher shutter speeds, steadying the camera, and depth of field, and even bought several professional lenses. My photos STILL did not look as sharp as those I saw in galleries and online. But wait . . . my JPEG files from my sporting events did . . .
I read that RAW files are not sharp, and sharpening is applied to JPEGs on the camera. But why is Aperture and my MBP not able to sharpen photos well using any one of the three sharpening sliders or the sharpening tool? I was then led to DPP, kicking and screaming. What I discovered was truly amazing.
Forget about the personal opinions with warmth and contrast between Aperture, ACR, and DPP. DPP is the unquestioned leader in producing sharp photos from RAW images. You drag the slider . . . it's sharp. It's even sharper than the photos I've spent 20 minutes sharpening in CS5 with sharpening masks, sharpening tool, etc. The DPP tool JUST WORKS. Even noise with high ISO is MUCH improved. High noise still can use an expensive tool to correct, but still MUCH better than Aperture.
Until Canon reveals their secrets to Apple and Adobe for RAW processing, I need to figure out a way to use DPP for RAW processing.
For those that use DPP for RAW processing, how to you work it into your workflow? I want Aperture to be a one-stop shop, but I don't want to store the original RAW, the DPP-edited RAW, and potentially a TIFF for additional editing and noise reduction?
Do you sort in Aperture first? Do you convert in DPP first? How do you maintain file integrity, and at the same time, minimize disk space usage?
If you no longer use DDP, please tell me why, and how you've worked around it?

All I can say is, either I've been in the weeds all this time, or your skills with sharpening are better than most.
    A couple of questions:
1-What do you use under Sharpening for and Edges under "RAW fine tuning" you thankfully shared your settings for Edge Sharpen (^s)
2-What camera and RAW format are you using (this may help me fine-tune my preferences). I've got a 7D and primarily shoot MRAW. (Not the best for a couple reasons, but I don't need or want the large file sizes.)
To be sure, default sharpening in Aperture is pretty bad. And I have played with sharpening going on 40 hours now over several months. I could not get a good result.
Your documenting the exact settings and sharpening tool is what helped me get past whatever I was doing before. Maybe I was thrown by the higher default contrast in DPP. I'm now able to produce a better result in Aperture than DPP, or even my laboriously-sharpened photos on Photoshop. There are some tradeoffs in each, but I didn't want to use DDP as part of my workflow. Now that I've used it more, I'm convinced I don't!
And the definition setting is very useful. It's the only mainstream adjustment I've never really used.

  • DPP and EOS Capture problems

Hi. Im new here and I have a problem. The problem doesn´t involve Aperture but I thought that this might be the area to find a guru to help me. If anyone know a better forum to post this question in I´d be happy to know where.
    I use DPP 2.0.3 and EOS capture 1.5.0.8 on a Powerbook 17" G4 1,67 1GB. The camera are 1Ds Mark II.
The problem are that after som pictures taken with EOS Capture everything gets very slow. Everything works, all the pictures end up in the powerbook but it takes a long while.
I had a 12" before and did not have this problem. But that one didn´t run in tiger.
Are Tiger and EOS Capture a bad combo?
    Regards/Johan

    Hi all, just got in.
The card in my camera is a Lexar 1000x and a Sandisk card, both 32g.
The files (raw images) are fine when I veiw them in ACDsee Pro
And when I bring them into Photoshop, they are fine as well.
The only problem I have, is with the EOS utility, and DPP.
I normally process all my image in Photoshop CS6 and don't use DPP.
I was interested in the new interface for DPP so downloaded it and when I opened it up.... well the image posted is what all jpg, raw, tiff and everything else looks like in DPP.
Not sure what the problem is.
    Any other suggestions?
Oh and I did recently reformat the Lexar card as I got a err while doing some night photography. I reformated it in the Lexar USB 3 card reader, then in the camera. Still the same problem with EOS utiility quick viewer.
Some of the recent photos on my Flickr stream are images all taken recently with the Lexar 1000x card.

  • Camera Raw Camera Calibration Tab and 5D Mark III

I don't think that many people do this in camera raw, but it was kind of an important step in my workflow with the Canon 7D before and is just not working the same way with the 5D Mark III now.
In the Camera Calibration Tab (Third from the right side) I always changed Camera Profile from Adobe Standard to Camera Standard or Camera Portrait. This step made the image automatically look better, contrast was better and the highlights look a lot better that way. Of course the "Camera Portrait" option makes the image a lil bit red, like the Picture Style in the camera does. But it was an easy adjustment with the Hue Slider of the Red Channel. Like I already said - really great improvement of the image on the 7D raw files, beautiful highlights, shiny, contrasty and so on... Same stuff worked with 5D Mark II perfectly, too.
Now with the 5D Mark III the "Camera Portrait" option, my favourite one, gets me pretty bad results. The Image is too strong oversaturated, too much red in the skintones and in the shadows, too! Shadow contrast gets worse and I can't control this settings the way I did before with the hue/saturation sliders of the channels. It's too extreme red or it's too yellow, but not something right between this extremes. And the highlights get some green tint, so it's no real optimization of the image overall quality at all, like with the other cameras. I don't know if the support of the 5DMIII is still not up to date... It is not only my camera, I also have asked other photographers with a 5D Mark III and they have the same issues changing the camera profile. Lightroom has exactly the same effect... It would be great, if an Adobe Employee can forward this issues, so that it gets tweaked with the further updates and 5dm3 will work the same way in camera raw like mark 2 or 7D.
    Sorry for my bad english

Yes, white balance is another possible reason for mismatch
    These rules apply:
    - if you use white balance "as shot", then white balance in ACR will be the same as from camera or DPP (in a sense - what is white color in ACR will be white in DPP also). However, color temperature/tint shown in ACR will be probably slightly different than value recorded in exif of jpeg or raw file. It's because in that case, whitebalancing is performed using some metadata in raw file by both ACR or DPP, while temperature displayed in ACR is calculated from that metadat using color matrices in selected profile, according to a formula from one book (as documented in dng sdk), while DPP is probably using some other formula or slightly different color matrices
    - the same will happen if you use WB dropper on exactly the same position in the photo by both ACR and DPP
    - but, if you use the same temperature preset in ACR and DPP (for instance 5200 K), then white in ACR and DPP will probably be a bit different, because whitebalancing is performed in oposite direction now (ACR calculates RGB multipliers from that temperature and using color matrices in the profile)
I hope this was understandable, although it's a bit complicated

  • Where to start?  DPP or LR 3.3 (Canon 5D Mark II) or PM or II

From what I've glommed over the past few months is a preference for doing the initial processing of RAW files in DPP because Canon has some processing specific to it's own lenses and raw files that will give you options unavailable in LR.
ACR does a good job with lens corrections, but Canon manufactured them and has a deeper knowledge of the interrelationships of it's hardware and internal software (in the body of the camera).
It's an additional step -- especially if you're using Photo Mechanic or Image IngesterPro 3 (anyone have a preference between the two?) to populate metadata and copy to primary and secondary locations before adding to LR.
    Anyone care to comment?

I've done a fair amount of comparison between Lr and other raw converters, but have only a little experience with DPP.
    Still:
    - All have strengths and weaknesses.
      - None is best at all things.
Partly the results you will prefer from different raw converters depends on you, but also a lot depends on the photo.
i.e.  some photos look better in one program, some look better in another.  And also, it's possible with enough time, to make almost any photo  developed in one look like it was developed in the other, almost.
Personally,  I have a Lightroom-centric workflow, but use NX2 sometimes too, (and  very rarely some others as well), and may use DPP sometimes in the  future (my raw shooting Canon is new for me).
Anyway, I  really think you need to compare the results you get with Lightroom and  DPP yourself, since different people prefer different things. The  "Canon knows their hardware best, so should be able to process Canon  photos best" argument is more of a theory than anything objectively  confirmable from the outside.
I mean, there are two things:
    1. Which program you prefer using (not talking about image results now).
    2. Which program gives preferred image results.
Lightroom  wins number 1 hands down for me, and on the average number 2 as well,  although best quality can be obtained on a photo by photo basis by  running through both and comparing (and maybe incorporating discoveries  made while using one program, into the other...)
PS - I would not recommend having a Lightroom-centric workflow with an exclusively DPP-preprocessed frontend.  This was a winning combination for some people before Lr3, since  previous versions of Lr did not have top-quality detailing, nor lens  corrections. But those days are over...
Lightroom's  raw conversion detail quality is now top-notch, and color noise  reduction is second to none, and luminance noise reduction is also  excellent, and simple to use. Sharpener is also excellent. Lens  corrections are not as good as DxO (dont know about DPP), but are  generally good enough. Colors and tone are generally good too - probably  preferrable in some cases and not in others.
Global editing tool-wise - Lightroom has targeted HSL  adjustment, but DPP has RGB channel curves. Local editing tool-wise, DPP  has distraction removal that goes beyond dust spots, but Lightroom has  basic exposure and color enhancement locals.
Bottom-line: In my opinion, overall Lightroom is better than DPP for raw image development, but I'd certainly keep DPP handy for corner cases and comparison.

  • Colors of RAW vs JPG in Lightroom and CS3

    I am confused by this.
When shooting RAW +JPG on my Canon 350D, the RAW and JPG have different color qualities. The RAW is more yellow, or maybe warmer. The JPG more blue or cooler.
I think this is odd. And it is consistent in Lightroom AND CS3 and yet in Irfanview and Canon Digital Photo Professional they they are identical. Totally.
Why would this be? And which is "right" in Lightroom? The RAW? It looks the better of the two, but hard to compare across programs. But why the difference and why not in all programs, just ADOBE?
    Thanks.
    ~Bob

DPP uses the in camera settings as its starting point to view RAW files, so these files will appear identical to any jpegs produced at the same time. The in camera settings are attached to the RAW file and DPP reads this information when opening or loading a RAW file for the first time.
Lightroom does not have access to this information and so it has its own starting point that it uses when you open a RAW file, thus the RAW file will look different than the JPEG and different to the RAW file opened in DPP (while the JPEG and RAW file in DPP will look the same). Most other RAW programs do not have access to this information (Capture 1, Bibble etc) and they also will have a starting point that is different to DPP. One of the significant advantages of Lightroom over DPP is that you can create your own profiles so you can tailor your "starting point" to suit your preferences and style whereas with DPP you always start where the Canon guy says you should be.
There are a few programs that use the Canon SDK or Canon RAW viewer utility in windows to display images (Breeze Browser comes to mind). Irfranview may be one of these which is why RAW files viewed here may look te same as DPP or the JPEG.
As to which is right. Neither, none or all of them. Right or wrong is purely subjective and based on which you prefer. If you never make any changes to the RAW file you may as well just shoot jpegs and that will be right for you. But then you loose thae ability to influence the look of your files proior to the file creation which is why we shoot RAW in the first place.
    Hope this helps

  • When showing JPG and RAW files as one, which do we see and which is edited?

    Hi Guys,
Hoping someone out there will have the answer to this.
Just come back from a long trip with thousands of pics in RAW, I like to use Canon DPP to generate the JPGs quickly and to give me Canons interpretation on the RAW image. (Apparently same processing as in camera).
Once imported into Lightroom 3, I have set up to view the JPG and RAW files as one.
    There are two questions:
1.) Which of the two is the visible one in Library mode? can one set the preference?
    2.) Which is edited?
I do not really want to fully develop all the pics in Lightroom as some of the standard shots have come out perfectly and at the same time I feel I need to be able to compare them.
Any help offered would be greatly appreciated.

1.) Which of the two is the visible one in Library mode? can one set the preference?
Raw only. The jpeg is sort of like sidecar. Cannot set a preference. The only setting you can change is to view them separately.
    2.) Which is edited?
    Raw only.
... and at the same time I feel I need to be able to compare them.
Lightroom's Canon-specific DNG profiles are developed to match Canon's picture styles (or whatever they are called). So, if you use, say, the Faithful Picture style in Camera, Lightroom's "Camera Faithful" profile will render your raws very close to DPP, if not identical. That's for default settings. However when you start adjusting, Lightroom's and DPP's processing may differ.
You may not even need those Jpegs for comparison, after all.

  • Different pricing procedures on Sales order and billing documents

    Hello All,
I have come across a situation where I will have to maintain seperate pricing procedures for Sales order and the corresponding billing document.
I was just wondering if this is normal. In my previous projects I always had same pricing procedure for the order and the billing.
    Please share your experience.
    Appreciate your help.
    Thanks,
    Raj

    Hello Friend
This is a very common requirement in many implementations depending on the scenario
Sales order with one pricing procedure The same sales order when goes for billing
Billing document with another pricing procedure
    Settings needed
Order type VOV8 has a document pricing procedure  Say A
Billing type VOFA has a document pricing procedure  Say B
Sales area 1000,10,00 and CPP is 1
    OVKK settings is like this
    1000,10,00 DPP A, CPP1 Pricing procedure is  RVAA01
    1000,10,00 DPP B,  CPP1 Pricing procedure is RVAA02
The control data in both  RVAA01 and RVAA02 is different
In VTFL between your del type to billing type aunder the header that item level The pricing type should be B (carry out new pricing) if delivery related billing
In VTFA betwen your ord type to billing type aunder the header that item level The pricing type should be B (carry out new pricing) if ordery related billing
Now the same sales order will carry PP RVAA01at order level and RVAA02 at the billing document
There can be some business scenarios you want to add some extra discount at the time of billing
That time you have a discount type added in the billing PP so that it is reflected in the billing
    This is scenario dependent
Hence SAP has given the option of DPP in VOFA so that by billing documentwise we can differentiate
To achieve this Copy control settings and DPP should be different both in VOV8 and VOFa

  • Compatibility between OS10.5.3 and Canon 1DsII tethered shooting.

I have commented on the lack of support between Apple and Canon regarding the Canon software. Now that 10.5.3 is released, I am hesitant to install until I have a specific question answered. Has anyone shot tethered between a 1DsII with EOS Utility 2.4 and 10.5.3? I am using Lightroom as my image browser and DPP only as a last resort. People may be successfully using a 5D or other 1 Series body but Canon even has a disclaimer on the Utility download page regarding my camera.
    Thanks in Advance,
    TC

What people have discovered with many digital cameras is direct tethering does not work as well as just pulling out the media card and plugging that in a USB or Firewire card reader for the media card. I would recommend trying that if you have difficulty otherwise reading tethering digital cameras. Thankfully many media readers by Sans Disk have had pretty solid compatibility no matter what the operating system update is. Since 10.5.3 has just been released, it may be best to just find out if the media card for your camera has 10.5.3 compatible reader.

  • What are customizing steps to create pro forma invoice from STO delivery?

I have copied FUPI output for pro forma invoice billing type F8. I tested and was able to successfully get it to work for a regular delivery that was created from a standard sales order.  However, I need this to also work for a stock transport order created delivery but I keep getting the error that the item is not relevant for billing.  I have searched the web for 2 days and did find one posting that was exactly the same issue that I have and the person asking the question said they solved the problem but did not provide the answer as to how.
I tried changing the item category NLN billing relevance to D from a J and that did not work either. I need the pricing to print on the pro forma invoice also.  On a standard sales order created delivery it works like a charm.
this is what I hope to accomplish - create sto - create delivery from sto - create pro forma invoice for customs
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    thanks in advance
    Donna

    Hi
In VOV7 the billing relevance for  item category NLN should be  maintained as A (delivery related billing)
Then you need to maintain copy controls  in VTFL between NL to F8
In copy controls at header level copying requirements should be 009
At item level for item category NLN copying requirements should be 010
Pricing is picked from the OVKK settings that is for your sales area, CPP as the receiving plant is the customer, and DPP from the billing type of F8 For this combination you need to maintain Pricing Procedure
In VTFL At item level for item category NLN the pricing type should be B
If you need to maintain this settings you can create F8 proforrma invoice in intra comapny STO

  • Corrupt CR2 RAW files

Has anyone found a fix for CR2 RAW files being corrupted? I have read all the thread postings I could google on various forums and can not seem to find any solid fix to the problem.
I purchased the Canon 400D for my trip to Asia and shot over 1500 photos, almost all in RAW. I transferred 90% of the images onto CDR and DVD media to make more room my Sandisk Extreme III 4gb card. Of the 1500+ photos, 150+ of my images remain corrupted.
I am posting this in hope that someone has found a fix.
    Hardware:
    Canon 400D Xti Rebel
    Sandisk Extreme III 4gb
Atech Flash Technology "Pro-Gear" USB 2.0 card reader
    IBM/Lenovo Z60M desktop replacement
    Software:
    Canon's DPP (Digital Photo Professional)
Microsoft Camera Raw Viewer (does not work with CR2)
    Adobe CS2 with latest upgrades
I filled my CF card up four times during the duration of my trip.
    Listed in order:
    1 - 6 CDR's
    2 - 1 DVD
    3 - 3 CDR's
4 - straight transfer from CF card to my Z60m laptop
Of the four times I DL'ed images, the first 4 CDR's were the only folders that did not carry any corrupted files. All files were DL'ed onto a PC using my Atech card reader locally before burning.
Of all the images I took, I noticed a total of about 2 to 3 images that are shown to be corrupted when played back on my camera. I reviewed each and every file anywhere between 1 to 5 times on my camera prior to transfer and they all looked fine (maybe the camera plays back the embedded jpegs?). I would delete all images using the in camera function. I formatted the card before each fresh shoot. Originally thinking it was a CD/DVD transfer issue, that would not explain why some images from the last batch off the CF card (straight from CF card to reader to laptop) were also corrupted.
Here's my workflow (I'm new to RAW): I used Canon's DPP for a day and all the thumbnails displayed perfectly. Like CS2, I believe the software first displays the embedded jpg Thumbnails before loading the actual RAW preview. I did NOT notice any corrupted images based on the rendered thumbnails but I have not verified all my images first before making a strong claim to this.
I have not installed my copy of CS2 at this point and anxious to use Adobe Bridge, I did so the following day. After playing with some images, I began to notice some weird lost of colors in some of my thumbnail preview images. I attempted to open these files and DPP gave me a corrupt image notification. I tried it in Adobe Bridge and the images opened only to show me that either the image had part of it white, black or various colors. Some images were entirely black.
On the advice of a forum poster, I used Fastone Image viewer to see if I can save the image as jpegs and it worked but the jpeg was a smaller both in file size and dimension; not a complete lost at least. I did not recall having any image corruption with the exception of about 3 images (at most) which was witnessed on the camera itself during playback which prompted me to think that there was a bad sector on the CF card.
    Notes:
    - One forum poster suggested that Microsoft's RAW viewer were causing problems. Originally, I attempted to open one or two CR2 files and MS RAW viewer launched but gave me errors. I DL'ed the latest version and installed it and it will also not work on CR2's. After reading the MS page on the RAW viewer, it shows that CR2 was not supported yet. I then uninstalled the proggie after reading the posting.
    - Another forum poster suggests that it is a bad card reader. I will attempt to transfer images directly from the camera going forward.
I'd hate to have this happen again but can not fathom why the problem will not reiterate itself with more RAW transfers going forward. Hopefully, someone has a good solution. Thanks. -Will

    Rita,
The process for determining what is causing the files to be corrupt can be a tedious one depending on the following:
    1. Can you review the images on your camera's LCD screen without problems? If not then the problem is most probably either a corrupted/faulty memory card or a faulty camera. If this is the case then your best bet at recovery (of sorts) is to use a program such as BrezzeBrowser from BreezeSys to extract the embedded jpeg versions of the corrupted RAW files from within each RAW file. Chances are, you won't manage to actually repair the corrupted RAW file but the jpegs are better than nothing.
    2. If the images review ok on your camera but are corrupted when viewing on your computer and there seems to be no other problem with other files on your computer then it may be either a faulty card reader or usb/firewire cable between the card reader and the computer that is the culprit. Try the card reader with a different cable and also try a different card reader to determine the cause of the corruption.
    3. If your symptoms are that you get different files corrupting over time when viewing them on your computer then the problem may be any one of either failing RAM memory, hard disk, hard disk controller or IDE/SATA hard disk cables. This is where the troubleshooting can be pretty tedious testing then eliminating each item from the list of suspicious pieces of hardware. Try the card and card reader on an altogether different computer to see if the files transfer correctly to that computer. If so then the problem lies with your computer hardware. If you haven't already done so at this stage, backup all your important data immediately (hopefully you keep backs anyway).
    Hope this helps.

  • CR2 files from CANON will corrupted when preview by Adobe bridge

    Hello Frides
This problem started for me since Sep 2012, on CS5 and CS6

The scary part is if I'm losing my archive CR2 files,
I can’t open these file in Canon Digital Photo Professional after they damaged with Adobe.
This evening I was working on a photo and export it as Tiff , when i change directory in Bridge the same CR2 file corrupted!!!!!
I delete the XMP file associated with the CR2 didn’t help, its look like when bridge try to update the thumbnail somehow it

    stil get this random problem.
CHecked the CF card / Card reader / all my cables  on both PC's
My problem is a software problem
    PLEASE HELP!!!!!   SOS

I have tried all of those and different versions/order of import, different drives and different cards.
Sorry, cross posting the same time it seems.
I just put the image back on the memory card and checked it in the camera and it views normally in the camera.
Again, you are not viewing the Raw file at the back of the camera, it can't show because the Raw data needs to be first demosaiced using a dedicated Raw converter like ACR or Canon DPP. What you see is the embedded jpeg preview the camera produces for this purpose and for using in Finder and other systems that can only view jpeg.
I did try downloading it to a different hard drive directly from the camera...I was able to view the image for about 30 seconds before it corrupted. As I mentioned, for this particular image I actually did a full ACR edit and created a jpg from the RAW file yesterday.
Here we are getting to the strange part of the problem. Can you provide a screenshot of the problem file?
When this happened about 6 months ago, after re-creating a file in the adobe library (unfortunately I can't remember where it was or what the file name was)...it stopped.
That probably would mean the Cache file and plug in from the User library / caches/ Adobe/ Bridge CSxx / Cache and plug in
or from same user library / preferences / Bridgexx plist file. Both files are recreated fresh and empty after restarting Bridge
I was actually able to go back to the corrupted images (4 out of 6) and view the corrupted images and edit them normally!
Try to reset the default setting in ACR
It just started again recently and I have 5 or 6 images that it's happened to. The first 5 corrupted as soon as I loaded them in ACR, this is the first one that corrupted after I edited it. I've tried opening them in iphoto and Canon DPP and they initially preview normally and then corrupt once they fully load the jpg preview.
Can you show both results from ACR and DPP in a screenshot?

  • CS5 won't work on Intel Mac.

    Hello,
I am a first time poster on the forum. I just purchased the CS5 update after carefully reading the system requirments and updating my OS to 10.5.8 as required. I am using a Mac G5 with an Intel dual core processor. The CS5 update gives me an error code 6 everytime I try to install it and it locks up when I try to use the type tool and other features. I have spent many hours with Adobe tech support with no solution. Now they tell me that I cannot install it on a G5 .  Has anyone else had this issue? Am I stuck with a $200.00 loss ($400 with the os update) ? They should state this issue in the system requirements!
    Thanks,
    Charles

You just installed CS5 and DPP on top of a clean OS install. (not a clone from another machine) Did you run software update for OsX and for Photoshop?
No third party fonts, no plug-ins, nothing else?

The Adobe help people have run the cleaninig scripts and we have reinstalled and deinstalled many times.
Did they remotely connect to your machine?

  • Why is Lightroom doing this!!!

Every once and a while LR will make an absolute mess out of my images. It's like it's scrambling parts of the file. Then, even after deleting the XMP files, it still re-imports into the library with the crazy mess on it. I've even tried killing entire catalogs, deleting XMP files, and then re-importing with no success at fixing the problem. Then the identical damage shows up in Bridge, Camera RAW and JPEG's that have been output from LR. How do I get the adobe programs to stop displaying them like this once LR munches on them. Capture ONE, and DPP have no problem with the damaged files and output perfect JPEG's and Tiff files. I don't get it and it's making me crazy. Check out the links below to see what I'm talking about. OH! I have emailed one of these files to Adobe and they see the same thing I am seeing when opening the file on there own system (sent .CR2 file without XMP. / They have no solution). The only fix I have found was to replace the RAW file with a backed up RAW file that has not been touched by LR (luckily I back up most of my RAW files before they ever get imported into the program). But it's happening to often to keep doing this.

OK! Heres the newest twist. I just had another file get gobbled up by LR. But this time the damaged image appeared damaged in DPP and captureONE. However, in C1 the image appeared damaged but if I clicked on the focus tab, the details box showed a perfect image. Then, when I output a TIFF to photoshop the image had no problems. But the preview in C1 was still crazy. Then in DPP the thumbnail appeared damaged and when double clicking the image to enlarge it that also appeared damaged. But once I brought it into the develop module it all went away. Transfering the photo to PS showed no signs of damage.
The fix I found earlier in LR did not work this time. But it did once I got DPP to display a clean image. So the problem appears to be related to the previews that are being generated. Since DPP and C1 do not support XMP then that can't be the problem. But why are all these programs sharing the preview information. I'm starting to wonder if maybe it is a memory issue. This is a trouble shooting nightmare!
