10.5.5 update and on board SATA

Does anybody know whether the 10.5.5 Leoopard update has addressed the issue of the on board SATA headers not working under Bootcamp. I have checked through the update specifications but cant find anything relating to either Bootcamp or SATA suport.
Many thanks
LT

Have you tried installing the other Boot camp updates?

    So far, so good.
One of the symptoms of this issue is an incrementing of the drive's CRC error count.* Back on the 28th (right after doing the cable replacement), S.M.A.R.T. Utility told me my CRC error count was at 6322. From early July when I upgraded to EFI 1.7, until the rollback tool was released (in August?), this was how high the counter had climbed… plus a bit from testing back-and-forth when PU1.0 showed up.
Anyway, 6322 was the count on 11/28/09. A bit ago, it read 6324 (12/05/09). I don't know where those 2 extra came from over the last week, and I'm going to continue checking in on it, but 2 is a far cry from the 6000 or so over a month, maybe a month and a half. And as for user experience, I haven't seen any of the freezing typical from this issue, either.
    * Again, there seems to be more than 1 issue that people have come in here with, but CRC errors was identified fairly early on as a characteristic of this issue, and is one I definitely saw on my machine, so I use it here to illustrate the difference I see.
it seems like only solution is changing the SATA-cable, the problem; it's out of stock at third party vendors. (hot Christmas gift, everyone is buying it), Fishbert how is it holding? give us an update.

  • Bios updated and now K8N Neo won't boot? FIXED!

Successfully restored from backup (after some hassles!), but thanks to everyone who helped.
Having messed with the bios some more, I *think* I now know what the problem was.  And *blush*, I think it was my fault all along *blush*.
I think I had one of the drives selected at the top in Hard Disk Boot sequence, instead of the SCSI - Raid Array.
That would mean it was only reading half the MBR at boot time which would kindof explain the problems I was having.
Still, we live and learn.  Thank God for backups!
    Cheers all
    Chippy
I hope someone can please help me?
I just upgraded my K8N Neo2 bios from 1.4b to Easybios 1.3c (or whatever its called).
I took all the proper precautions and the bios update itself has worked just fine. My system is "working" OK.
However, I can't boot. The system POSTs fine, detects the raid0 array just fine and then falls over with an MBR 1 error and an MBR 3 error.
I booted from the XP install CD and loaded up recovery console, and I can log on to the array. The array and all data is fine.
So it looks like its just the MBR record that is screwed. Is this because of some incompatibiliy between my old and new bios?
And anyway, please does anyone know how to fix it? I suppose I can try to rebuild the MBR somehow, but I don't know how. And I really DO NOT want to risk losing all of the data on the array. Yes, I have a full back up, but I don't want to end up having to rely on it!
Has anyone seen this problem before when doing a bios update? And any ideas how to fix it?
(I guess I could flash back to 1.4b, but I really would like a later bios version to go with my new - as yet untested - Opty 146).
    Thanks

Thanks for the tip, Doc.  But I have entered the bios settings from scratch.
I can try it again, but why do you think that might work?  There really aren't two many sata and raid settings to make - all you have to do is enable the two channels (sata3 and sata3) and then enable them also in the raid menu.  That's it.  And the board "sees" the raid array just fine, its just it won't boot anymore.  I can read and write to the array no problem from Windows Recovery Console, so I conclude that the hardware is all working properly.  I think its an MBR incompatibility issue between the two bios versions... or maybe MBR corruption.
I seem to remember some people having problems with this a year or so ago when upgrade this bios from 1.4 to 1.5.  Some people were having to do complete Windows reinstalls to fix it.  That was why I didn't update my bios sooner.
But I asked around this time and it seemed those problems had been resolved.
    Seems I was mistaken!
    Any other thoughts / suggestions?
    Thanks

  • Lenovo System Update and Lenovo Support RSS Feed (X60)

Okay. I got Lenovo System Update (version 5, for Windows 7) and it did not offer me any Critical updates. Only Recommended and Optional ones. If it ain't broke, don't fix it, so I don't want to install Recommended and Optional updates, only the Critical ones if there is any.
On the other hand I also have the Lenovo Support RSS Feed. But they bring me to dead links. For my X60 the two drivers in my RSS Feed are
ThinkVantage Access Connections patch for Access Connections Version 5.95 for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-...
    Patch module for Power Manager for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit), Vista (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad -
    Both are totally dead links.
The tricky part is that there is absolutely no correlation between the two: totally different drivers in the System Update and the RSS Feed.

    Hello both,
SU has been discontinued because old SU version wouldn´t work with SP2.

  • Intel Matrix Storage Manager disables Windows Update and Windows Validation on Windows 7 64-bit

I have a Lenovo ThinkPad R61 8918CTO on which I did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 (64-bit) on a new Seagate Momentus XT 750GB drive. The installation was trouble-free, as were all of the post-install Windows Updates.
Then I installed ThinkVantage System Update 4.03 and used it to install most of the available Lenovo updates. Big mistake. I'll spare you a detailed account of the hours I wasted troubleshooting, rolling back to previous restore points, and doing more troubleshooting, but it turns out that installing Intel Matrix Storage Manager driver v. 8.9.2.1002 caused Windows Update and Windows Validation to fail.
Symptoms: Windows Update control panel can't check for updates and reports that the Windows Update service isn't running when it actually is. Online Windows Validation fails and the standalone Windows Validation utility won't install. Microsoft programs that require a validated copy of Windows (e.g., Microsoft Security Essentials) won't install.
Solution: Roll back the driver for the relevant SATA controller to the previous driver.
I've reinstalled ThinkVantage System Update 4.03 and hidden the proposed Intel Matrix Storage Manager update; since then, I've used it to complete my Lenovo updates without issue.
I hope this post will help other people with this problem find the solution a lot faster than it took me!

This happened after installing a new advanced format drive with 4k-byte sectors, I'd guess.  If the storage driver doesn't report the physical sector size to Windows, update fails.
I just ran across this myself (again) putting Win 7 on a T400.
I don't know why this is still going on.  It may be that the update lists for older machines still have pre-AF-drive drivers listed.
FYI, another fix is going to the Intel site and installing the latest Matrix Storage Manager AHCI driver.  This may be more desirable than rolling back to an older driver in some cases.

  • My computer has been seen at Genius bar 6 times for freezing up, reloaded all original settings and even went to the apple shop where they replaced the battery and logic board. Still freezes after I try to reload iTunes stuff and app stuff from apple

my computer has been seen at Genius bar 6 times for freezing up, reloaded all original settings, all of their diagnostics, and they even sent it to the apple shop where they replaced the battery and logic board. Still freezes after I try to reload iTunes stuff and app stuff from apple, especially iPhoto which is seems to refuse to load and then begins freezing up all over again. Anyone else have this problem. Other than this, I have had absolutely no problems with this computer. Now, it's a file of junk.

    Hi Ronald ...
Have you checked lately to see how much free space there is on the disk? Especially since iPhoto freezes at launch ...
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage
Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.
And make sure the OS X software is up to date.
Click the Apple  top left in your screen.
From the drop down menu click:   Software Update
If you have anti virus software installed or are using third party Mac cleaning utiliites, that may be part and parcel of the your problems.

  • 10.4.7 update  and external firewire problems with HD corrupion

    Dear all,
Advised by Jpfresno I started this new topic about Tiger 10.4.7 update.
I will repeat my post and what was happening 2 weeks ago:
“In 5 years 10.4.7 update was a tragedy for my Powerbook Ti 667. When I update from 10.4.6 to 10.4.7 my 300 GB firewire drive gets corrupted, after repairing it with DiskWarrior and after connecting it to my PowerBook my computer freezes and I must shut it down via powerbutton. Safari also crashes after the update.
I just erase my Hard Drive and after that install 10.4 and update with combo to 10.4.7. But I had the same problems: finder freezes with connected firewire devices and also safari when browsing. I spend a week trying to solve the problem but no luck.
Yesterday and with no firewire devices, 10.4.7 freeze and I have big trouble in order to started my powerbook!!! Even when i insert the 10.4 install DVD it did not detected my HD. Finally I get it to work and install 10.4 and combo update to 10.4.6 and everything works. My external firewire drive and safari. I already diagnose my HD with disk utility, TechTool and directories with Diskwarrior and everything is ok.
I clone my 10.4.6 to firewire, boot from it and everything is working. I let my external drive connected and finder does not freeze.
My conclusion is that the problem is 10.4.7 update. It only give me problems and I was getting crazy with it. 10.4.6 is working good and I do not advice anyone to update to 10.4.7.”
Last week after reinstalling 10.4.6 I started to have HD problems with my Powerbook 667. I did a surface scan with TechTool I it reported bad sector. Then I done a zero disk format but after a second surface scan TechTool also reported bad sector. Then I take the decision to replace my internal HD. I bought a Samsung 40GB Hard Drive and installed it on my PowerBook. Then I have done a clean installation of 10.4.6 with all applications that I need and clone it to my hard drive with Intego Personal Backup software. Everything works on 10.4.6. and external firewire drive.
After that everything is ok. But I decided to test if my problem derivates from 10.4.7 update or from previous HD corruption. Then I install 10.4.7 update on my Internal Hard Drive. Everything is working good but after connecting my external Hard Drive the finder started to freeze!!!!!!!!!. After that I tried cloning HD to external firewire with Intego personal Backup. Everything was working good but when it was finishing the backup process started to give errors!! I started panic. I interrupted the backup process but after and after restart I found something strange with 10.4.7. The system started up, I login but I could not started any application!!!??? All my application died!
Then I have done one more clean installation of tiger and 10.4.6 update.
My conclusions are that the 10.4.7 update causes all the problems that I have on my PowerBook, because I used the same methods and same software/hardware on 10.4.6 and did no have any problem.
This last two weeks were very difficult to me. I tough that these problems do not happen with Apple computers but I was wrong!!! It is very hard to me to deal with it. I always said to my friends that I never had problems with Apple computers. I accept that a hard drive died because the use of it but I can not accept that a system update cause me 2 weeks of hard problems and make me loose precious work information! I always love apple computers and Apple OS but now I am disappointed
If anyone can explain what happen or have a solution for those problems?
Thanks for the comprehension and collaboration.
    Best Regards
      Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi, alsvieira.
There are some things you did not check in all of your troubleshooting:
    1. Run the Apple Hardware Test (AHT) that came the affected computer. See my "Apple Hardware Test" FAQ for comprehensive advice on using the AHT in troubleshooting.
    2. re: FireWire troubleshooting: Here is some general troubleshooting advice that may help if problems return with your FireWire drive:1. Review the AppleCare Knowledge Base document "What to do if your computer won't recognize a FireWire device".
    2. If this problem occurred after installing a recent Mac OS X Update, and you are also unable to mount CDs, DVDs, or disk images perform the steps in this Mac OS X Hints article. This worked under Panther and may also work in certain situations under Tiger.
    3. Power-on the FireWire drive before starting up (booting) your Mac.
    4. Reset PRAM and NVRAM.
    5. Resett the power-management chip in your Mac.
    6. Try a different FireWire port. James Wiebe, CEO of WiebeTech, has published FireWire Port Failures in Host Computers and Peripheral Devices, a white paper providing backgroud information and technical analysis concerning the causes of failure for FireWire ports. This may provide additional diagnostic information.
    7. Micromat TechTool Pro version 4 can test the FireWire bus in your computer: this tests the bus — not the ports — but if the problem is on the FireWire bus on the logic board, it should reveal it.
    8. Check with the manufacturer of your FireWire drive or enclosure to see if any firware updates are available for such.
    9. Hopefully, the partition map on the FireWire drive is not damaged. This can happen if the FireWire drive was not Ejected before being disconnected or powered off. If it still refuses to mount, you may need to employ data recovery tools or services: see my "Data Recovery" FAQ.Note that some of the information above is from the "FireWire Problems" chapter of my book, Troubleshooting Mac® OS X.

  • Mac os x lion 10.7 on mac book pro not updating and running very slow

i am using mac os x lion 10.7
problem it is not updating and running very slow. How to improve?

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. This procedure is a diagnostic  test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem. The backup is necessary on principle, not because of anything suggested in this comment. There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
Third-party system modifications are a common cause of usability problems. By a “system modification,” I mean software that affects the operation of other software — potentially for the worse. The procedure will help to identify which such modifications you've installed, as well as some other aspects of the state of the system that may be pertinent.
Don’t be alarmed by the seeming complexity of these instructions — they’re easy to carry out. Here's a brief summary: You copy a line of text from this web page into a window in another application. You wait about a minute. Then you paste some other text, which will have been copied automatically, back into a reply on this page. The sequence is: copy, paste, paste again. That's all there is to it. Details follow.
You may have started the computer in "safe" mode. Preferably, these steps should be taken while booted in “normal” mode. If the system is now running in safe mode and is bootable in normal mode, reboot as usual. If it only boots in safe mode, proceed anyway.
Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script. It does nothing but produce human-readable output. However, you need to be cautious about running any program at the behest of a stranger on a public message board. If you question the safety of the procedure suggested here — which you should — search this site for other discussions in which it’s been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that these instructions are safe, don't follow them.
The script will line-wrap or scroll in your browser, but it's really a single long line, all of which must be selected. You can accomplish this easily by triple-clicking anywhere in the line. The whole line will highlight, and you can then copy it.
If you have more than one user, and the affected user is not an administrator, then please run the script twice: once while logged in as the affected user, and once as an administrator. The results may be different. The administrator is the user that is created automatically on a new computer when you start it for the first time. If you can't log in as an administrator, just run the script as the affected user. Most personal Macs have only one user, and in that case this paragraph doesn’t apply.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
When you launch Terminal, a text window will open with a line already in it, ending either in a dollar sign ($) or a percent sign (%). If you get the percent sign, enter “sh” and press return. You should then get a new line ending in a dollar sign.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Then click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste (command-V). The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter your password, the script will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important, so don't worry about it.
The script may take up to a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. Wait for the line "[Process completed]" to appear in the Terminal window.
You can then quit Terminal. The output of the script will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. All you have to do is paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V again.
    Please note:
☞ This procedure is all copy-and-paste — type nothing in the Terminal window except your login password if and when prompted.
☞ Remember to post the output. It's already in the Clipboard when you see "[Process completed]" in the Terminal window. You don't have to copy the output; just paste into your web browser.
☞ If any personal information, such as your name or email address, appears in the output, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.

  • PC: i-tunes won't launch, update and restore greyed out - updater freezes

Hi - Please excuse the system info below - that refers to my laptop but our sons shuffle ismarried to our PC.
I found my son's shuffle sitting on the hall dresser today and he informed me that it has not been working for some time. He's 8 years old but he's only had the shuffle since Christmas - I'm inclined to think he really hasn't been able to use it much.
First signs of a problem were flashing green and orange lights - no songs I guess. Battery shows steady green.
Downloaded and installed latest i-tunes update and i-pod updater. When the i-pod is connected to our PC (running XP) the front status light and the back battery lights both blink orange. Unfortunately, we do not have any 2.0 usb connections on the Dell but we've been able to successfully connect our other son's shuffle to the back port.
When the shuffle is connected i-tunes will not launch. If I launch i-tunes and then connect the shuffle, i-tunes does not recognize the i-pod.
With the updater lauched and then connecting the i-pod the updater freezes at 'initializing' and both update and restore buttons are greyed out.
I have reset the i-pod many times and browsed the support discussions and articles - it seems I may need to remove the updater but I have not found instructions for the process appropriate to a PC.
Any help would be greatly appreciated - even if its just to say that we should bring it in for service. UGH - but where is the darned receipt?

Hey mmlise - glad to hear I'm not alone on this...
By the way - I uninstalled and reinstalled both i-tunes and i-pod updater as per Apple instructions for PC. At least this time the updater informed me as to what it updates but it is not even initializing now - it just keeps telling me to "plug in an i-pod to update it".
i-tunes still will not launch until I remove the shuffle from the usb.
I know that the usb is working (tried several other ports anyway) since windows pops up with a balloon to say that the device could perform faster on a 2.0 usb...
I've been out of the loop for awhile now on the boards - is this some sort of update bug?
    Please help...

  • Anyone else do an update and loose ability to make calls?

Have never had a problem, yesterday I did an Apple update and my phone is dropping EVERY call now. Have spoken with my carrier, no tower issues etc etc and my husbands iphone with the same carrier is working fine. We sat side by side at home, he had full bars and I had none. His phone works in the house and yard and mine doesn't. We have the same iphone and carrier.

yes, everything else is fine. Data, text etc....the phone function is just acting as if it is corrupted now. I know that it sounds crazy but this is really happening.
If the call goes through it will drop after 2-3 minutes, if someone calls me they cannot hear me, or just barely, and the call drops after 1-2 minutes.
I know that it sounds like a Sprint issue but the fact that my husbands is fine, and that mine was fine till the update makes me think it is the update.

  • Problems with MSI Web Live updater and Downloadable updater

First off im new and second im sorry if this is the wrong spot.
Ok i did a reinstall of windows Xp updated with Microsoft's updater all the way up to SP2. In the past i had no problems at all with the MSI Updater. Now i have problems  :(  Please read below.
    Hi i would like to know if anyone else has this problem;
I try to use the Web Browser version of the MSI Updater, well while its trying to scan it will say "Error" "service not started" about 4 or 5 times.
When i use the Downloadable version of the MSI Updater it crashes when its scanning and my computer will reboot till i go into safe mode and uninstall it.
Im going to be getting this Motherboard soon http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130136  I'm not sure if i want to if the MSI updater will no longer work. I have always depended on the Updater for my drivers cause i'm not the most tech savvy person in the world plus its very convenient to have all the drivers in one spot.
if this updater continues to not work im not sure where i can get the drivers. I dont want to get the wrong drivers and by mistake kill my board cause i flashed my board with the wrong drivers. if its not fixed i may not get anymore MSI boards :(
So does MSI realize that they killed there updater? i mean it worked fine in the past but now its a piece of junk :(
    Please help.
P.S. Im not trying to be mean or flame im just frusterated :(

1st we are talking about drivers here... not BIOS.
You shall not update your BIOS without very good reason, read here ==> https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=103441.0
"i have MS-6712 those BIOS updates don't work and even at the bottom of them it says "this bios can not be used with MS-6712"
Yes because there are several mainboard MS-6712.
    "This BIOS cannot be used on KT4V (MS-6712) & KT3V (MS-6712)"
    That's correct your mainboard is KT4AV {also MS-6712, but use different BIOS. That's why is that warning notice.}
"So now that we know those BIOS updates don't work are you still sure those are the right updates for my board? Please make 100% sure."
Yes they are correct if you really have KT4AV.
    Leave BIOS alone.
If you want to update your BIOS and need help with BIOS update, read here 1st ===> https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=113146.0
and provide information about current BIOS version onboard. You may have an OEM mainboard.

This topic has been moved to AMD64 nVidia Based board.
[Athlon64] Failed Bios update with both Live Update and Dos version = badchecksum shutdown

Sometimes bios recovery is a long shot .
But the award bios v.6 is supposed to be able to do it if the bootblock is still intact.
Best way seems to be to strip it down to minimal configuration , disconnect all drives except floppy , one ram module , perhaps without video card also .
    Look here :

  • Msi k9n with 2 sata disc in strip and a plextor sata burner connected

can all msi k9n motherboards run with 2 sata disc in astripe and a plextor sata dvd burner connected to the sata connectors ?
I think on following msi boards :
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=730
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=729

A onboard satacontroller until now controls a pair of sata ports on NF4 and older.
So with 4 ports native , there is two controllers aka' you enable raid pr. controller as in sata1/2 , sata 3/4 .
NF570 looks different from NF4 (atleast in the MSI K9N bios) in that way that you can include pr port eg.
    SATA0 Primary =Raid Enabled - SATA0 Secondary=Raid Enabled - SATA1 Primary=Raid Enabled - SATA1 Secondary=Disabled , and so on .
Why must you absolutely have sata burner , it's nothing gained over a IDE type in the matter of speed .
Even 16X DVD doesn't utilize 33MB/s that Ultra DMA2 is currently at for IDE burners .
16X DVD utilize 21MB/s , 54X CDR utilize 8MB/s , so no one needs burners at a sata controller.
But anyway , a silicon Image or a Promise PCI controller board should work  .
    CDR / DVDR read&write speed:

  • Need bios w7030nms.914 live update crashed my board

live update crashed my board . I have a k8n neo v2.0 ms-7030 v3.0 the bios chip has w7030nms.900. From what I have read I need w7030nms.914 to flash the board. Ser# 402 6527759895. Any help would be appreciated.

First thank you for your help, downloaded and made the disc booted up and now i get Warning! system is not new AWARD BIOS version! Please updata ROM BIOS first....  then at the bottom it says to input the file name. I put in w7030nms.900 and nothing. What am I doing wrong?

  • Where do I find SPARCengine AXi Update and Release Notes?

I'm looking for the OBP updates, and all release notes for the updates, so that I can flash the two I have recently obtained and add the intervening release notes to the manual I printed out for the boards.
Also, I'm looking for the OBP dropins compatible with the SPARCengine AXi.
I've tried SunSolve, but haven't really turned up anything close.

Well, I was playing around with FreeBSD initially on the 4 gig disk that did work, but there are a lot of things in the FBSD ports tree that need work to get going on the SPARC. I love FBSD, and run it on intel boxes, but work is needed on it.
I may devote one of the 18 giggers (when I get another SCSI cable, or an external case) to FBSD to do some porting work for the project...
Anyhow, I have successfully installed Solaris-SPARC-u1 on it, and the only problems I saw were in the freeware, where stuff like emacs would coredump on exit (from the package), or fail to compile (segfault on the blessmail module).
I have just installed Solaris-SPARC-u2 (6/06) on it today, and so far have no issues, but I do want to test the issue with emacs again.. I'll be pissed if emacs has issues on this, vi sucks (EMACS makes the sun shine! EMACS makes the birds sing! EMACS makes the grass grow green! It's a pretty good editor too!).
By "RTC" I mean the RealTime Clock / CMOS battery-backed NVRAM / IDPROM chip. Refer to the OEM Technical manual for the AXi for details on where it is on the board. They are field replacable and socketed.
The RTC in the AXi board is a SGS (ST) M48T59Y, and you can find the datasheet at: http://www.st.com/stonline/products/literature/ds/7001.pdf and you can find out how to replace it, and reprogram your hostid and MAC, etc at: http://www.squirrel.com/squirrel/sun-nvram-hostid.faq.html the chip is avaqilable from Mouser Electronics, probably Digi-Key as well, among others. Keep in mind they have an embedded lithium cell, and have a lifespan between 7 and 10 years.
As far as fans, I have 300 MHz CPUs in these right now, until I can find the Sun fans and mounting brackets... In the meantime, the fans are connected to the main power supply directly. As far as LEDs, I don't see how that could cause a problem, as a reverse-biased diode simply won't pass current.
Anyhow, I have had some cheap fans fry intel motherboards when they die and freeze up, so, I think I'll even direct-connect the CPU fan to the power supply when I get some of the 440's...
As for Solaris 10, I don't have any problems other than the one issue, but I do have one issue launching from a remote Xnest on my PC, but, for some reason, it works fine when I use the kdm remote login from the main kdm login screen on my pc. For some reason Xnest will do the dtlogin stuff fine, but it will never launch CDE and immediately go back to the dtlogin screen. The answer might be in the Xservers file in the /usr/dt/config directory, but it uses some wierd bastardized form that isn't standard Xservers, and will coredump dtlogin if it isn't in the form expected. I think the key is in finding out what the hell "Class" a foreign Xnest is.
Anyhow, I'm having fun, and only have one more complaint.. I can't set the font size on anything other thant he output and editor windows in Sun Studio 11 (which I also installed today). IMHO, the fonts are a bit small.
