10.5.5 Update Problem, -4960 error

Hi everybody,
I'm currently running 10.5.5, and trying to update to 10.5.6. (I can't go to 10.5.7 yet, as it interferes with a couple programs I need to run.)
I've downloaded the 10.5.6 update from here at the Apple site a couple times now, but each time after downloading, the .dmg file won't mount. It returns a -4960 error.
I'm in a part of the world right now (South Pacific US Territory) where the Internet speeds are very slow, so even the NON-Combo version of the update takes about 4.5 hrs to complete. Any chance that's related to my issue? Occasionally when downloading, the download times out. Could that be a cause? If so, how could I get it to stop timing out?
Thanks, everyone.
Mark

I can't do it through Software Update, because it only finds 10.5.7 as an update. It doesn't find 10.5.6 since there's a more recent update available.
I'm using Safari hitting this link:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1056update.html
I started downloading the Combo update about 3 hours ago from this link:
http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1056comboupdate .html
I'm just downloading it by hitting the normal 'download' button at the bottom of the screen.
Again, I'm using Safari. I was unaware of any other 'Download Manager' that i could use. In the other thread you mentioned, Lyssa, it points out the 'Download' window found in: Safari>Window>Downloads.
At least I think that's what they're recommending. That's what I'm already using, I assume, since it's just the same old little Safari window called 'Downloads'.
Am I missing something?
Thanks again so much for you guys' help!

When I try software update I get the error message: NSURLDomain Error Domain -1100. I have tried throwing away the software update plist, and that did not fix the problem. Anyone know how to fix this?

    Apple servers are down temporarily.
    Try again later.

  • Update Problem(No Errors Given)

I get the gratuitous "restore your iphone" message and when I try the little wheel just keeps spinning and spinning and spinning and spinning.
I downloaded the new update for the iPhone from iTunes tonight and it will not take. The first time I attempted it the wheel and apple icon never left my iPhone screen and the iTunes software didn't give me the successful update status either. When the status bar starts moving across the screen it stops at around 97 percent and hangs there. Forever.
I have the latest iTunes software and I have tried using shift+restore as well. I think I may try an earlier version of iTunes and an earlier version of the firmware. It has worked for some. I cannot find 1.1.1 though so I have to use 1.0.2 I believe it is
It launches the update and begins installing it but never ends. Has anyone else had this issue?

Welp. I fixed it. I went into my control panel and under Add/Remove Programs I clicked on Remove Programs. Then I went to the application called Apple Mobile Support and clicked "Change"(it is right next to the Remove) option. Next I clicked Repair.
I rebooted my laptop, ran iTunes, and then plugged in my iPhone. It asked me to restore my iPhone. From there I held the Shift key while I pressed the Restore button. Instead of hanging in the middle of the update like it did before with the wheel spinning and spinning it gave me the Error 1602? It was the error that most people received.
I borrowed a laptop from a shipmate, installed iTunes and plugged in my iPhone. It asked me to restore so I did the Shift+Restore again targeting the 1.1.2 update that I had on a flash drive.
The only thing I had to do after was reconnect to the iTunes store to re-activate my phone and re-sync all of my music/photos etc from a backup I had on my computer. All of my contacts and notes etc were immediately available after re-activating.
Odd that it would update on a different computer, but not mine. I had done the first available update on this laptop before.

  • RecordNow version 7.32.1 build 08e update problem - Intrnal Error 03f2.8007007b

    Hello All!
Machine is T30 with WinXP Professional SP2
    (RecordNow ver 4.10 preinstalled)
There is RecordNow 7.32.1 update accessible from ThinkVantage System Update (listed as optional).
When I try to install it I get Internal Error 03f2.8007007b from installer. Update is interrupted at this point.
I know this is RecordNow issue, not TVSU. Because the update downloads OK and package integrity is verified. Anyway, I could not get this solved using Roxio support forums:
    http://forums.support.roxio.com/lofiversion/index.php/t17819.html
I have current version of Windows installer and I've turned off personal firewall
There is no Windows Defender and there is nothing in the event log.

Did you ever get an answer to your post???
Reinstalling this software to a cleanly formatted disk has really been a nightmare.I had to search days to find a copy of the RecordNow program for my CD-RW/DVD player on my T30  2366FBU system. Upon finding it on Lenovo's site, (  rn732108f.exe  )
        http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-57007
I gleefully downloaded it and selected it auto install for me. The process went smoothly through the complete installation till the very end when a pop-up came up stating
"This program can only be used on IBM or Lenovo hardware"        ?????
    Then stopped dead without installing.
The directory and files installed therein are password protected and I'm back to square one.
    Ever seen this issue???

  • Update problem. "error writing to file c:\config.msi\22be9d65.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory."

Every time I try and update to the latest version, I get an error messages saying to manually do it from tools menu. After doing that, I get an error message saying "error writing to file c:\config.msi\22be9d65.rbf. Verify that you have access to that directory." I am the sole user on this computer and have full administrative rights to my computer. Why am I getting this? I REALY don't care if I upgrade or not but want to get rid of the stupid apple update crap that comes up everytime I turn my computer on. If there are no suggestiong on how to fix this issue, is there a way to turn apple update OFF?! I have Windows 7 Home Premium.

Are you running Kaspersky security software on that PC? (There's been a few reports in recent times of Kaspersky interfering with iTunes installs, with that message being produced.)
If there is Kaspersky on board, we should try some general-principles getting-past-security-software-interference troubleshooting.
Download and save a fresh copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (32-bit installer file) or iTunes64Setup.exe to your Hard drive. (Don't run the install on line, and don't start the install just yet.)
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Restart the PC. After the PC restarts do not open any applications. Disconnect from your network and/or the internet. Now switch off all your security software (firewall, antivirus, antispyware).
Now start the install by doubleclicking the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64Setup.exe) file you downloaded earlier.
Reenable all security software prior to reconnecting to your network and/or the internet.
Any better luck with the security software shut down?

I have just bought a new C5 because of its maps and navigation features and am having the horrendous problems trying to download additional maps. The only one it comes with is for central/northern europe. I have tried using OVI suite downloaded onto my PC (Vista). That doesn't work. (Could it be that this automatically loads software for the S60 handset?).
On first using OVI Suite you do have to accept any prompts to accept synchronisation software onto device.
Irrespective of whether you can't get OVI Suite or Nokia Maploader to work you can always download Europe.zip using links in this post by ovikovi here and then decompress:

That said it is a lot easier to overwrite E:\Cities\diskcache folders  0 - 9 and a - f using Windows PC as a bit more convoluted if using Mac although requires use of "Terminal" to merge folders.

  • Bios Update Problem "VERIFY ERROR"

When I try to install last bios update (0FCN67WW.exe) it gives me "VERIFY ERROR" and computer freeze.
I tried on vista and windows7 and got same error. Please help.
    Thanks...

I was able to do it with Vista but my DVD rom disappeared.
So I downgraded BIOS to 54.
When I tried to do it under 7 I got this verify error and thought I bricked it. Luckily it didn't actually erase the BIOS.
Anyway I had IntelVT feature greyed out, so no use of flashing.

  • Solution for 4.0.1 updating problems if error 1004

If you are getting this error, then at some point in the past you modified the "hosts" file. To fix it, try the following (credit to KianABC):
    On Mac:
    * Open Finder
    * Hold down COMMAND + SHIFT keys and press 'G'
    * Enter "/private/etc/" in the field and press "Go"
    * Find "hosts" file in the directory
    * Drag the file to your desktop
    * Open it in text editor
    * Remove the line that has gs.apple.com entirely or put a # at the beginning of it to comment it out
    * Save the file
    * Drag it back to the /private/etc/ folder.
    * You'd need to enter your username and password to authenticate the move
    On Windows:
    * Locate the hosts file in one of the following directories:
    Windows 95/98/Me c:\windows\hosts
    Windows NT/2000/XP Pro c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
    Windows XP, Vista, 7 c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts
    * Right click and click on "Open With..." and then click on "Notepad" on the list.
    * Remove the line that has gs.apple.com completely and save the file. There may be two instances of the "gs.apple.com" in the list, if so, remove both.
    This should work fine.
    -F
    Again, a

so what happens if you open your hosts file and there is no sign of anything resembling gs.apple.com and your still getting the 1004 message... ??

  • There was a problem updating InDesign CC For more information see the specific error below.  Update Failed Download error.  Press Retry to try again or contact customer support.(49)

Posted the entire text from the error window, when trying to update, using the normal NON-TECHIE way to update any and all Adobe CC products, via the Creative Cloud updater installed when Adobe Creative Cloud subscription was purchased when first offered.
    The following occurs, ad nauseam:
There was a problem updating InDesign CC
For more information see the specific error below.
    Update Failed
Download error.  Press Retry to try again or contact customer support.(49)
Here's the crux of my frustration:
    (1) Customer Service is NOT contact-able, to receive LIVE help.
    (2) There is NO way for me to mitigate this "Download error", being a student learning InDesign, and NOT in any way capable of tweaking folders/files here and there.
    Therefore, the real question:
Given that a significant number of subscribers are having the above referenced issue with attempting to download the current update for InDesign, WHAT ARE WE SUPPOSED TO DO, in order to get our contractually paid-for updates to our legally and contractually paid-for Adobe software, specifically in my case, InDesgin's current update?
Please, NO TECHNICAL mumbo-jumbo which most likely will cause the overwhelming majority of users, like me, to seriously corrupt their computer files, but rather an honest, straightforward "what to do" from real CS/Engineers working for Adobe, as to how to FIX this issue, period.
    ===========================================================
    UPDATE:
Here is a way in which I think I was able to "update" my InDesign CC application:
    (1) Sign-In to your Adobe Account
    https://www.adobe.com/
    (2) Click on the MENU icon
    (3) Click on the product InDesign icon
Your browser should display the page for Adobe InDesign CC
    https://www.adobe.com/products/indesign.html?promoid=KLXLU
    (4) Click on the Download icon,
Your browser should now display the page to download InDesign,
    https://creative.adobe.com/products/download/indesign
    (5) a Pop-Up window should open, and display:
      Launch Application
This link needs to be opened with an application.
with the first option to select being the CreativeCloud(URIHandler)
    (5) Select this application and click OK.
What happened when I followed steps (1) thorugh (5) is that:
    (a) InDesign CC(2014) was installed,
    (b) InDesign CC, updated, and then
    (c) InDesign CC(2014), also updated.
Why this all worked, is a mystery to me.
Looks like a separate, "new" version of InDesign, InDesign CC(2014), was installed, the existing "old" InDesign was updated, and then the newly installed Indesign CC(2014) was further updated.
A BIT MORE, when I launched my InDesign CC app, and checked to see if there were Updates Available, there in fact was an Adobe InDesign CC 64 bit (9.2.2) update.
I clicked on UPDATE and my "old" InDesign CC app was "successfully updated."
FURTHER INFO:  I may have neglected to list some important info ... OS:  Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center, 64-bit
Confused, I am able to launch BOTH of these apps, and hopefully I may use one of these versions of the InDesign CC app, to do some InDesign work.
    Will keep y'all posted!

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components; this won't affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.
