10.5.6 Has broke Online Banking Access

Since I updated my Intel imac with this update I can no longer access my online banking with BB&T, this is a very large Southeast Bank, when I log in, it just brings me to another screen, to log in again, no error message, I called the bank and of coarse they told me it's my fault, I must of forgot my password, anyway I talked to their online tech support, and they did tell me that they are aware that the update for the mac has broken the access to their site with Safari, they said I either had to use Internet Explorer or Mozilla, due to the fact that their site is no longer supported by Safari, due to the latest mac update.

Note: I also posted this at another site, where others have posted about the same problem with other online banking websites, not just BB&T

Yes, exactly the same problem here. Can't login to HSBC using Safari. Sometimes the HSBC site is just a scrambled mess becuase Safari doesn't load certain graphics and CSS style sheets.
Also intermitant problems logging into these support forums and Amazon.co.uk.
I've tried all of the advice given above. Even did an archive and install this morning, although I don't think Safari got reinstalled?
I've contacted HSBC. I am going to post any response in this Mac Rumors thread:
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=6774924#post6774924
Apprantly customers of the bank FirstDirect (part of HSBC) are notified at login of problems with the Safari browser. The macrumors thread I've linked to above has a screen grab.

I too am a user BB&T online banking and can no longer access the bank after upgrading to 10.5.6. I called the bank this morning and they told me they have been in touch with Apple regarding the problem. I started using Mozilla Firefox and was able to log into online banking. Since I'm a very long time PC owner and recently purchased my first Mac, I'm not impressed with this flop from Apple which I had greater expectations for problem free software. That's why I decided to leave Windows and the PC. Also, I had been a long time user of Mozilla browsers when I had the PC. Safari is starting to look like it's not going to be my browser going forward. What kind of testing is Safari subjected to at Apple? Mozilla has the backing of a large and knowledgeable creative community.

  • How come version 3.6.3 will not allow me to access my online banking while version 3.6.2 can when they are both exactly the same setup?

I have two computers. Both had Fire Fox 3.6.2. I then upgraded one to 3.6.3. I then tried to access my online banking and I was unable to with the Version 3.6.3. I then went to my other computer and I had no problems accessing it with the one that has 3.6.2. On the computer with 3.6.2 that was upgraded i did not change anything. It has the same add-on, settings, etc. This happens to some other sites as well. I have read and looked through all the help files and nothing helped. I've done everything except uninstall Fire Fox and reinstall 3.6.2 (if i can find it) to see if that will work. I really don't want to do that but if i must then i shall.

  • [SOLVED] Firefox won't let me access my online banking

    Hi,
I have a desktop icon for my online banking on my desktop for one click service. All I have to do is click, Sign In and I am there.
Lately my computer has been in the shop for shutting off problems. I just got it back and tried to access my bank account through the icon (and also by bypassing the desktop icon, too by going directly to the website and trying to sign on from there) with no access.
I sign in my username and it takes me to a page that says:
    Service Error
We could not proceed because of the following error(s):
Messaging error occurred. If sending a reply please remove any non-keyboard characters from your response as replies cannot contain special characters.
I don't know what this is talking about.
When I try using Internet Explorer to try and sign in to my bank, I am able to do so.
This tells me that Firefox is somehow blocking me. Can anyone help me fix this problem? Firefox used to do this just fine (allow me access to me bank).
    Thank you.

  • Cannot access online banking

Within the last week, I have been unable to access my online banking. I can get to the homepage, but no further. Called the bank, but apparently no one else is having issues. The ONLY thing that has happened to the laptop in the last week is my son deleted my browsing history, but I can access all of my other sites without any problems.  Would be so thankful for any help....

Well that narrows it down some.  You should have Windows Vista, but depending on what WIndows Updates you have installed you could have either Internet Explorer 7 or Internet Explorer 8.  First thing to try is open your browser, click on the TOOLS button, then INTERNET OPTIONS, then the SECURITY tab.  Click on the Reset All Zones to default leves.  Now restart the browser and see if the banking site works.  If it doesn't, post back and we'll try something else.
If you don't post your COMPLETE model number it's very difficult to assist you. Please try to post in complete sentences with punctuation, capitals, and correct spelling. Toshiba does NOT provide any direct support in these forums. All support is User to User in their spare time.

  • Firefox as my browser doesn't give complete access to my online bank account but Chrome does. Why?

When I log into my Barclays online banking I can get as far as the summary screen but then can't access the account details and get the message Firefox Not Responding. I can however access all the information when I use Google Chrome. I've tried disabling Java but can't even log on to my bank when trying this and I've uninstalled and installed Firefox again on to my computer.
This has only been happening for the past 3 or 4 weeks and I've used Firefox as my browser for quite a few years.
I'm not an expert on the computer so don't know where to go from here.

you can configure firefox to only keep cookies until the end of the session (and maybe create exceptions for all sites that you want to stay logged-in): [[Enable and disable cookies that websites use to track your preferences]]

  • When loading my online banking it says untrusted connection but when I try to add exception it says the site has a valid certificate and exception is not required, but still wont connect

When trying to connect to online banking this is what I get.
    This Connection is Untrusted
You have asked Firefox to connect
securely to www.txn.banking.pcfinancial.ca, but we can't confirm that your connection is secure.
Normally, when you try to connect securely,
sites will present trusted identification to prove that you are
going to the right place. However, this site's identity can't be verified.
    What Should I Do?
    If you usually connect to
this site without problems, this error could mean that someone is
trying to impersonate the site, and you shouldn't continue.
    Technical Details
    I Understand the Risks
When I click on I understand the risks and try to add an exception I get this:
This site provides valid, verified identification. There is no need to add an exception.
yet I can't get passed this and connect to the site!

What are the Technical details showing as the cause?
Check the date and time in the clock on your computer: (double) click the clock icon on the Windows Taskbar.

Try to rename the file cert8.db to cert8.db.old in the Firefox Profile Folder to remove all intermediate certificates that Firefox has stored by visiting secure websites.<br />
If that helped to solve the problem then you can remove the renamed file cert8.db.old unless you have user certificates that you may want to export first and import them in the new file.<br />
Otherwise you can restore the certificates by renaming (copying) the file back to cert8.db<br />
Firefox will automatically store new intermediate certificates when you visit websites that send them.<br />

  • I can no longer access my online banking account in firefox

I can no longer access my online bank account in firefox, although I can in IE. I can get through the login ID and security question, but when I type in my password and click on login, it consistently tells me I have the wrong password. I have no trouble logging in with IE. I have deleted my history completely, deleted the sqlite files from my profile, and done everything else I can find in the support area with no results. I have been able to access this website for years in firefox, and all of a sudden today I cannot. I called the bank and they even reset my password and tested firefox on their end and said they have no problems with it. I have not installed any new addons. I disabled firefox preloader. Any suggestions?

I see you are using LastPass. Could that add-on be interfering with your login?? You could try disabling it temporarily under Tools > Add-ons to test that theory.

    Hello,
'''Try Firefox Safe Mode''' to see if the problem goes away. [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues using Safe Mode|Firefox Safe Mode]] is a troubleshooting mode that temporarily turns off hardware acceleration, resets some settings, and disables add-ons (extensions and themes).
'''If Firefox is open,''' you can restart in Firefox Safe Mode from the Help menu:
    * Click the menu button [[Image:New Fx Menu]], click Help [[Image:Help-29]] and select ''Restart with Add-ons Disabled''.
'''If Firefox is not running,''' you can start Firefox in Safe Mode as follows:
    * On Windows: Hold the '''Shift''' key when you open the Firefox desktop or Start menu shortcut.
    * On Mac: Hold the '''option''' key while starting Firefox.
    * On Linux: Quit Firefox, go to your Terminal and run ''firefox -safe-mode'' <br>(you may need to specify the Firefox installation path e.g. /usr/lib/firefox)
When the Firefox Safe Mode window appears, select "Start in Safe Mode".
'''''If the issue is not present in Firefox Safe Mode''''', your problem is probably caused by an extension, theme, or hardware acceleration. Please follow the steps in the [[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]] article to find the cause.
''To exit Firefox Safe Mode, just close Firefox and wait a few seconds before opening Firefox for normal use again.''
When you figure out what's causing your issues, please let us know. It might help others with the same problem.

Where is the link that says you need a 32 bit processor?  On my MBA, in the past I've ran both Office for Mac and Windows 7 (MS Office) via Parallels (Bootcamp does the same thing).  I chose installing Windows 7 in the 32 bit mode ONLY because I have a couple of other legacy Windows programs that only run in 32 bit mode.

  • Safari 6.0 broke my bank's online bill pay

Is this a bug in Safari 6.0 or bank?

Thanks babowa but I have been using Safari 5.x with my online bank for years. I read that Safari 6.0 has fixed 100 bugs and so Apple either made Safari 6.0 more complient with web standards and my bank's non-compliance is exposed or Apple introduced a new bug in Safari 6.0. I strongly suspect the first option but I wanted to see if anyone else thought there is a new bug in Safari 6.0. And yes, I am using Firefox in the meantime.

  • My online bank has recommended we turn on Firewall and download an anti-virus programme.  Understood MAC is already protected please advise

    I have a MAC desktop version 6.1.6.
My online Bank has recommended Firewall turned on and download a separate anti-virus programme.
Please advise and we understood MAC  has anti-virus built in
    Kind regards
    Karinband

Do not download anti-virus programs for your Mac.   They do not need them.   Have you got Java disabled.   If so turn it on again for the duration of your work with the bank, then torn it off.
This is what to do with iMacs 10.6.8 or earlier.   Incidentally, you really should update your profile, questions may apply to some versions and not others.   Your iMac cannot be 6.1.6.
