10.5.7 Photoshop/ InDesign CS3

Question

Our graphic designer department just got upgraded from 10.4 Tiger to 10.5 Leopard. Most are complaining that InDesign crashes on them sometimes twice a day and other times works all day then the next day crashes. Our policy in the corp. that files get save on the network and users are not to save any files on their desktop or local machine.
User will create a folder on the share network drive and save a file there. User get out of it and then goes back in, only to find there's no file...of course this isnt always happening. Clearing up the cache seem to help but it'll do it again say a few weeks later.
Photoshop, user will open a file from the share network drive, work on the file, save will not let them save but save as will work but have to rename or vice versa, cant remember...notes somewhere else right now.

I have to agree with William Lloyd. Having remote places to put your data acts as a backup in of itself. Opening from the remote location, and not keeping a local file itself essentially gives you no backup. I know that keeping both synchronized can be a pain, but you'll be glad you did, when something happens that requires you recover from a backup. We use a different software at my office, and we are always told to work on our local files, and copy to the server when done with anything we can't risk losing. See my backup FAQ*:
