10.5.7 update/sharing

after updating to 10.5.7 sometimes my shared computers and devices randomly show up or missing icons
for example; im using a 15" unibody that i recently updated to 10.5.7 and the 17" uMBP is only on 10.5.6

(sort of a 2nd question; is the image suppose to resemble this:

i did it on a clean install on a 15" uMBP without safari 4 beta.
did a clean install and immediately updated to 10.5.7
didnt seem to have issues on the 17" uMBP though.
so it could be a problem with the OSX build that originally came with the 15" ? not sure.
the computers and networks that show up on the side panel that i posted above were the 15" having issues connecting to the 17" umbp (the 17umbp can see and access it fine. shows the proper icons and can connect without issue regardless of OSX version)
so these are all on my network....it just seems like some sort of icon cache issue.
is there perhaps a way to clear the icon cache of OSX?
because under 10.5.5 ~ 10.5.6 the 15" Unibody was showing the 17" as the classic 17mbp instead of the umbp icon and sometimes it wouldnt display the time capsule icon, but as an Apple Cinema Display instead.
ie;
any options aside from onyx and 3rd party apps (as i dont have much 3rd party apps installed).

InDesign: Updating Shared Hyperlinks

What is the best approach to take for updating shared hyperlink URLs?
For example, if a document has many pages and there are various hyperlink lists within those pages, there are likely to be some shared URL destinations. If we need to update the URL to a specific destination - How do we make certain that all the shared destinations update? Or does each hyperlink have to be found and changed separately?

Duplicate App Updates - Shared Library

I have my iTunes library under Users/Shared/iTunes Media for sharing with multiple users on one Mac. Everything seems to working fine other than app updates. I noticed under each user we each have the same amount of updates 94. I updated them under my account and they were all updated and downloaded, but under the other users it still shows 94 updates. So I updated them under another user. I see that they are duplicating the downloaded updates in Mobile Applications. I am trying to find where iTunes stores it's update location so they all share the same database for the updates. There is nothing located in Library.xml or library.itl from what I can see.

I'm new to Apple and that stuns me. It seems like a basic function (Microsoft has had it figured out for over a decade). I have thousands of songs, want to play a specific 10, and have to select them one-by-one??!!!! This makes me want to return the iPad I just bought. Thanks for the reply.

Updating, sharing with other user error thingy

Hey, Umm... I've had my ipod for about a week and I noticed I was missing some songs from before I loaded iTunes. So then I figured out that the reason those songs didn't make it to my iTunes is because the source was from my sisters user room on windows xp. So what I was I went into her shared music and opened the songs I wanted from her to my iTunes. Well after that and connected to my ipod to update it errored. A error message popped up and said something like "iTunes is being used by another user on this computer. So, iTunes cannot connect to your ipod." and then it took me to my ipod file and didn't tell me anything after that. And i already deleted the songs I tried to get from her. But now I can't update my ipod anymore. HELP???!!?? Please??!!??

IOS 7 Updated, Shared Calendar is No Longer Working/Syncing

My husband and I have a shared calendar that used to immediately notify the other when a new event was added. I just updated my 4s to IOS 7 (he is still on 6, using a 4) and I am no longer receiving notifications or able to see new events added by him.
Under Settings>Mail, Conracts, Calendars> Calendars
New invitation Alerts: on
Sync: All Events
Shared Calendar Alerts: On
In the Calendar App, the shared calendar is selected. I can view all old events.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. We use this almost daily!

Basics from the manual still remain: restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new.

Updating Shared Object Crashes Flash Browser Plugin

All of a sudden- I suppose since the last Flash Player update- my Flash app crashes when it tries to update a shared object property that holds an array of radio button groups. The original code uses a 'setDirty' to update the property when a radio button is selected.
The Shared Object property is set to the group when the app initializes- it only seems like when a button is selected that it causes the problem.
I have tried it several other ways, like setting the property to nothing and then back to the array, setting it publicly and privately- still crashes.
It has crashed IE, Firefox, and Safari on Windows XP, and Safari and Firefox on Mac OSX.
This is a serious problem- my application will need some serious retooling to work around this bug.

Update Shared Column on Document Set creation

I have a cloud business app connected to sharepoint online,
on certain actions i create a document set in a sharepoint library , the document set i use has a shared column set - i would like to set this value at creation time or just after creation so that any documents added inherit the value.
from the cloud business app i am using the CSOM to create the document set (based on steven curran's post

According to your description, my understanding is that you want to update the shared column on document set creation.
I suggest you create a workflow to do it.
You can create the workflow as the below:
For the workflow Start Options, select “Start workflow automatically when an item is created”.
After the above, publish the workflow.

How to update shared variables

Hi, I have a VI that opens an text file and reads some information from that page. That information should be copied to shared variables. The problem is that I have 160 shared variables and I don't want to drag them all from project explorer to Block diagram and wire them all. Is there any other way to update that data to shared variables? I can easily open and read data with couple of while loops. I'd really be thankful if someone could help me.

I do need all 160 variables. I have to make a sequencer.With cFP modules and laptop is ment to specify sequences needed for testing some equipment. I have 16 digital inputs and 16 digital outputs and 8 analog inputs. Those shared variables specify which channel is ON and for how long, and the delay of the channel. There is also variable that tells if channel is in use or not. One variable is channel factor, which tells how many cycles there will be in that cycle time. So if one channel needs only 5 variables, those 40 channels need 160-200 variables. Shared variables are specified in the user interface and then cFP module can easily read them. In user interface there is also the possibility to open a file that have variables specified earlier. In that point I need to open a text file and update the data to shared variables.

Updating shared numbers/pages files

Hi, my colleague and I are trying to wrap our heads around iCloud sharing between iOS and OS X devices.
My colleague will write the weekly schedule in numbers for iOS and then share it with me in iCloud. But I don't want to edit it in the web app, I want to edit it on my OS X version of Numbers. How do I do this without downloading a copy of his shared file, making changes on my mac and then sharing a new link with him?
I would like to be able to open the file on my mac (maybe with a linked alias on my desktop), make changes, save the file and have it automatically update the shared file?
Am I going about it the wrong way?

Bound control doesn't always update shared variable (LV 8.2 + DSC)

It seems that it is possible for a bound shared variable to NOT always get updated with the latest UI control value that it is bound to.
If you run the vi in the attached project, and (fairly quickly) toggle the 'Keyswitch Control' between the 'Off' and 'Start' positions, you should be able to reproduce the effect shown in the attached pdf. Sometimes the bound shared variable (Keyswitch_Control) gets stuck in the 'On' position when the control reads 'Off' or 'Start.' It does not catch up after a little while either; it seems truly "stuck."
Unless I am missing something here, this looks like a bug.
I haven't played around with any other control types yet to test further. I also don't know if this is limited to 'control -> SV' binding or if it also affects 'SV -> indicator' bindings (I hope not!).
Any ideas!?!?!?

I was able to replicate what you were observing. It seems that there is a bug in the front panel binding code. I would be filing a Corrective Action Report to let R&D know about this. Thanks for pointing it out.
Just on the side note, if you are looking to build an application based on the application architecture as in your posted code, then I would recommend that you refer to the attached VI for a much more efficient way of doing this.

Application Launch Failures after Update: shared library error

Soon after installing the latest Security and Operating System Updates, I discovered that I could no longer run Microsoft Office. I get the following error message when attempting to open any of the components: Application Launch Failure The application "Word" could not be launched because of a shared library error: "3<Microsoft Word><CarbonLib><CFMPriv_CommonPanels>" I have tried reinstalling the updates but it hasn't helped. I can't reinstall Office because the same error message comes up when I try to open the Microsoft installer. Can anyone help? I'm stuck. Thanks.

It's somewhat confusing. The folder /System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Frameworks/CommonPanels. framework
contains 3 items, a gray screen marked Common Panels with a small arrow pointing to the lower left edge, a folder marked Versions (which holds folders marked A and Current), a folder marked Current (which has a small arrow pointing to the lower left edge and holds a gray screen marked Common Panels and a folder marked Resources) and a folder marked A (which also contains a gray screen marked Common Panels and a folder marked Resources. When I click the gray screen marked Common Panels, I get a message that there is no default application specified to open the document "CommonPanels".
I'm not sure what all that means. Are there too many Common Panel screens? Does the small arrow have any significance? I've also discovered that, in addition to not being able to run Office, I can't install any new applications (same CarbonLib error message). If you think I need to archive and install the System, I can try to do so.

Update shared question for password

I have a problem with a regular subscription to The Australian newspaper through Newstand, when I asked to restore the subscription I receive an error telling me the shared secret I have on file doesnt match. Where do I update or check this shared secret? I have already updated the shared secret file on the apple security page but this has not fixed the problem.

Is it possible to use a NI-9871 module on a C-RIO to automatically update shared variables?

I am trying to use shared variables to poll a modbus network automatically. I have a C-RIO 9014 and NI-9871 serial module that the modbus network is connected to. Does anyone know if this is possible? If so, could you post a sample configuration? I have not been able to get it to work...

Using the 987X modules with a cRIO is much like using any other C Series module with a cRIO. It will interface with the FPGA through read/write controls or use a DMA transfer to send the serial information to the RT controller for processing. Note...you will need NI-RIO 2.4 and above depending on your version of Real Time and LabView or you will have to additionally install NI-Serial. DSC can only be run on Windows so I would guess that you would use variables coming from the FPGA or RT to DSC on a windows host machine and in the DSC module you can do ModBus Instrument I/O. Does that answer your question?
