10.5.8 nasty WIFI impact on upgrade

After upgrading to .8 of Leopard boy did things go awry. First, neither I or my roommate were able to connect to the network. In Airport Utility there was a firmware update waiting so I applied that and then we were able to connect. Thank god.
However, when the Macbook Pro is running on battery power it runs about 5 x slower than when plugged in. When plugged in though WIFI and a direct Ethernet connection run at the same speed.
I run on the battery fairly frequently as does my roommate. When will this be fixed. Its a real nasty.

Yes, I've decided to call Apple about this as this is just yet another thing that's gone wrong and I'm tired of wasting all this time on my Mac around things that go wrong.
Be careful about touching the system folder. I read this workaround by a user using .7 system stuff for .8. The one thing Apple definitely says is don't touch the system folder as you can blow your OS. At the end or beginning of the article Macfixit says proceed at your own risk.
This is something I would not do myself. I'm advising Apple that a quick fix to this is required. I'm in the process of being transferred to a Product Specialist. I'm almost thinking that if a simple . Upgrade can lead to this, what might happen when going to Snow Leopard which is a complete under the hood product.

When my wife and I upgraded to OSX Mavericks the person I was talking to on apple support said I could use My apple ID and password to up grade on my wife's computer also. Well after we got finished she had all my Info from my computer on hers. It took about 6 hours to install the whole upgrade. They said if you have any problems just to call back and we will help. Here it is on a Sunday and I call every 5 minutes and all I get is a busy signal. If they are not open on Sunday's then why don't the just say so.The number I keep calling is 1-888-263-3394.I don't understand anything about iCloud, maybe thats why all my Info is on hers to. Larry

My wife uses my Apple ID and password to download and install all her software because that way we only pay for it once and get essentially a family license. Otherwise we would each have to purchase and pay for our own copy. However, that only applies when we are purchasing software from the App Store or the iTunes store. We each have our own individual iCloud accounts where we store our personal Contact, Calendar, and other data. You can change the Apple ID on your wife's computer by going to System Preferences > Accounts and choosing her account then clicking on Apple ID: Set.
Now if you want to make things more intertwined you and your wife can share your contacts, calendars etc with one another with read only or read write priveleges.

Sorry Jim for the wrong question because I'm getting frustated with my IPAD since I can't use it for surfing internet with a faster speed. Ipad was very convenient to use until this IOS 6 upgrade. Tried all the suggestions in the forums but still gets back to weak wifi connection.

WIFI Quit after upgrade to firmware 3.1.

My WIFI quit after upgrading from 2.1.1 to 3.1. It worked twice since the upgrade for a period of an hour or so. I have tried to reset the network, All settings, serveral reinstallation of the firmware. I also Tried to manually enter in my WIFI information, with no success. I tried everything. I can see wifi information when I go into the general settings>About> Wi-Fi Adress 00:1c:b3:48:ce..... My warrenty is no longer valid. Any suggestions???

I've now posted these changes at two other WiFi threads. Try these Settings changes:
The Setting changes are:
Fetch New Data > Push: Off
Fetch settings are set to Manual & in Advanced all is set to Manual.
My iPhone also lost WiFi but with the changes above it now connects though it takes a bit longer to find the signal. No longer have Push but WiFi is more important, to me anyway. Another iPhone user had success with the above changes.

If you are having issues regarding greyed out wifi per: http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1559 and you have backed up and restored the phone then you need to take in the phone for service to a local Apple Store or call into Apple regarding warranty status and service options. This did happen a lot to the iPhone 4 and 4s's. Hope this helps!

Hi,
The problem is that you controls are not beeing freed. You have not passed the lifetime parameter a value when you create the container and text editor. This will set the lifetime to lifetime_imode which means the control will remain active either until the internal session (your transaction) ends or you explicitly call the free method for each control.
Add the lifetime parameter to the call and set the lifetime to cl_gui_control=>lifetime_dynpro.

Hello!
The biggest change you must face is related to Java. If you had CRM4.0 Java configuration, you must change your settings to the non-java configuration CRM5.0 has. Most of those changes are performed by the upgrade program, but you must activate services in transaction SCIF.
Your other concerns:
- Software: Most of the Genesys releases are compatible with both java and non java configurations. Anyway, I am sure Genesys has compatibility instructions.
- Hardware: No changes to my knowledge

Iphone 5s have wifi issue after upgraded to ios8.

Iphone 5S have wifi issue afetr upgraded to IOS 8. Does Apple know about this?? Its really frustrating the signal is weak.

Just because you are having a WiFi issue does not necessarily mean the issue is with iOS 8 (correlation does not prove causality). Issues with wifi connection after upgrading to iOS6.

Does anybody know of an fix that actually works to fix a phone not connecting to wifi with iOS6? I have tried I think every suggestion people have listed on here and on the apple forums and nothing works.
Here is what I've tried so far:
Resetting the network setting on my phone - didn't work
Tried turning off the Cellular Data suggestion - didn't work
I have done the hard reset on my phone and restored it - didn't work
I have tried changing the security settings on my router - didn't work
I bought a new router because my previous one was a few years old - didn't solve my issue. I know it's not my router, I have other devices in my home that connect to the router as they should.
I would really appreciate some help with this to get my wifi working again. I'm also having the same issue like others that since the iOS upgrade my phone also seems to be using data at about double the rate it used to. In 9 days I've used over 1GB of my 2GB plan and that is ridiculous, I'm only using my phone for email which I don't get any large attachments and some random surfing the internet. It never used this much data before when I was somewhere where I couldn't connect to wifi.
Is Apple working on fixing this or is it an Verizion issue?

Apple is working on correcting the issue and is beta testing an updated iOS at the moment and just need to be patient for them to release it. The only immediate fix they gave me as an option was to purchase an Apple router for the time being and that should cure the connection problem. Since I had just purchased a new router a couple weeks ago I didn't feel like buying another one. So I hope this will help some people that have been searching for an answer to this problem like I have and have gotten no help from anywhere...

Issues with wifi connection after upgrade 10.8.5.

After the upgrade, wifi empty triangle. No way to activiate the wifi. Need to reboot 3 times (just reboot, any other action) to finally have the wifi activated and the connection working.

U410 touch WiFi issues after upgrading to windows 8.1

I have a U410 touch and yesterday I upgraded to windows 8.1
I have major WiFi issues.
connection drops after a few minutes giving limited. troblesshooting resets the adapter saying ''the default gateway is not accessible '' is fixed. But after a few minutes the problem comes back. and it goes like this forever.
I have the Intel Centrino N-2230 and I installed the driver I found here (15.10.3.2).
I''ve tried to uncheck the power management option but the problem is still there.
I also have other issues with the dolby system (I see others have the same problem )and my touch screen is not working.

I am also running into the same issue with my Lenovo U410 and it is really frustrating. I also have Centrino Wireless chip with driver version 15.10.3.2 and I have windows 8.1
I bought the laptop from Costco and was having similar issues. I sent it back to Costco Concierge who apparently replaced the wireless chipset on this laptop but now I am getting this issue.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I have this problem after updating to 8 to 8.1
Right after updating to 8 to 8.1, all of a sudden my wifi stops working. I used my philips external wifi usb stick and now I'm able to get the internet going.
However if I disconnect my philips usb I no longer get the internet because the built in wifi that came with the R400 ThinkPad no longer works. I went through the device manager and under properties it tells me, 'Device not working properly' however it is up to date.

I suggest you to reinstall the Windows 8.1, as all the windows driver will not update, if you have upgraded the Windows 8 to Windows 8.1.
Please download Windows 8.1 separately and reinstall the OS, I hope this may resolve the issue.
Note: I am not suggesting for clean installation, only reinstalling the same OS.
Do not update the drivers from ThinkVantage system update utility. I suggest you to uninstall the current drivers and download the drivers manually for Windows 8.1 and install it.

When i upgraded my IOS. I always find it hard to continue my search in internet. I need to turn off the wifi connection then on it after wards even though using the laptops and other mobile phone with wifi have a very good signal. Just like this message, i need to off it then turn it on again.

Try:
- Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup
- Restore to factory settings/new iPod.
