10.5.8 server postfix sender domain problem

Hi,
I set up my power mac g5 as web and mail server. Everything is working wihout problem except this issue.
ı configure my webmail as webmail.xxx.com. when i try to send mail from mail server to other servers, i can see my mails in queue , i saw sender mail address as [email protected] if i change webmail adress to example.xxx.com this time i saw [email protected]
All the mail recipients saw like this. When i first think this must be a postfix configuration prorblem. i cannot see an extra settings about this in server admin panel.
So i changes the main.conf fie of postfix for smtp settings there are two choise  $mydomain or $myhostname.
i caned it to mydomain but nothing changed. How can i fix it ?

Is this a problem that only happens when sending from the webmail (SquirrelMail) client, or from all email client apps (Apple Mail, Outlook, Thunderbird, etc.)??
SquirrelMail, by default, uses the hostname entered in DNS as the originating address. So if you log in as User_1 and send via SquirrelMail and your email server is desginated as mail1.example.com, the sending address will show as "[email protected]"
You can over-ride this in the Settings of for each user in SquirrelMail by setting the email address to the proper value, as "[email protected]"

    Thanks. Where could I possibly look for a firewall rule. I knowingly did not creat any. My system has internet coming to a Modem which then is connected to a wireless router. I have computers connecting to the router through cable as well as wireless. One of these computers has been our  mailserver using Mercury and Pegasus and that computer has a static IP address. The Mac Mini also has been assigned a different srtatic IP address. I have only set up user account, none of them an email account as I initially expect them to receive only internal mails. Is it necessary that I must set up an email id for each user while setting up the user account. My server id is server.local. So would the email id for local users be [email protected]?

    this is yet another thread about virtual domain mailinglist with mailman.
    To sum up:
    - OpenDirectory account "[email protected]" -> mail delivered
    - Deleting this account and creating a mailing-list "test11", opening the admin interface to change the host "server.domain.com" (which is the primary host of the machine, so each mailinglist is created with this host) and replacing it with "virtualdomain.com"
    - sending an email to "[email protected]" -> following error:

    IOW, it looks like somehow the mailinglist aliases are being lost somewhere.
    Postfix forgets to delivers the incomming mails to Mailman, doesn't it? According to lots of forum searchs it could be forced by using one of those two commands:
    sudo /usr/sbin/postalias
    sudo /usr/sbin/postmap
    Unfortunately I dont know how they work precisely and can't find X.5 accurate information so I hope you can guide me through this step.
    Also I don't know how to track the incomming mails at the moment they are dispatched to either an OD account (so it's delivered or generates the 550 error) or a Mailman list (so it's looking for aliases and so on).
    Any help will be appreciated.

    I have the following environment:
    The company bought the company dominioA.com dominioB.com.
    Both companies have mail system.
    Company A wants to standardize the environment and wants only the mail platform remains in Exchange 2010 mail servers Company A.
    to have many users, and also change the MX ip address, the company does not want to do all of one.
    As I raise the following:
    One Accepted Domain was created with the dominioB.com
    An email policy which I think I will do that by creating the accounts you create them in an organizational unit and change them to dominioB.com SMTP.
    Send mail testing was made from those accounts to accounts dominioA.com and there were no problems.
    Send mail testing was done from the dominioB.com account to an external account and it worked.
    Send test mail dominioA.com to DominioB.com and began to bounce post is made. because the mail server is in the domainB, and server Only the domain was created. for this to work one must change the MX, but the company wants to do it gradually.
    As I can do ????

    According to your description, I notice that you have two company, Company A and Company B. Then want to deploy only one Exchange server for mail flow.
    If I misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
    If you want to deploy Only one Exchange server SMTP name for two company, I suggest we can deploy forest trust and linked mailbox for Company B’s user.

    If the domain has multiple MX(es) record. I.e cardig.com has :
    cardig.com mail is handled by 10 mail.cardig.com.
    cardig.com mail is handled by 10 mail2.cardig.com.
    Does Ironport check all the mx(es) first then reject if one of them is not exists?
    Or just query it once (first match mx or first low priority mx)?

    I think that the problem is not related to MX records existence or priority.
    The error you found occurs when a DNS server does not provide an answer to the query your appliance send when checking the sender.
    Suppose that a remote SMTP server connect to your appliance and send a "MAIL FROM: user @ domain.com" SMTP command; at this point your appliance checks whether "domain.com" exists or not and therefore asks for a MX record for "domain.com" to the DNS you configured. The DNS in turn searches for an authoritative DNS for "domain.com" and then sends it a query for the MX records of "domain.com"; if it doesn't get an answer your appliance cannot validate the sender domain and rejects the connection with the error you reported.
    In your example this means that the appliance didn't even know that the MX for cardig.com were "mail.cardig.com" and "mail1.cardig.com", but rather that the DNS server didn't get that information from the authoritative DNS server of "cardig.com".

  • Unable to edit Default Domain policy on Server 2012 R2 domain controller

    Hello,
    I recently built a Server 2012 R2 domain controller and added it to my domain.  When trying to edit the default domain policy I get the following error:
    I can make edits to other GPO objects.  All the other domain controllers are Server 2008 and are able to edit that GPO.  The issue is on the Server 2012 box only.  I've checked the delegated permissions, I'm a domain admin, and have opened
    GPMC as administrator.  Does anyone know what I'm missing?  Thank you for your time.

    If the Sysvol is replicated by FRS mechanism, as I suggested in the last reply, we can do a non-authoritative restore for the Sysvol on the new Windows

  • Roadrunner/cwmx and Invalid sender address problems

    I have spent hours trying to fix problem with Road Runner email when not connected to rr via wifi.
    Background: rr doesn't allow smtp outgoing if you aren't connected to their cable. Thus you have to be on wifi from your cable router. So, many folks turn on ATT cwmx.com smtp server to send mail when on 3G or Edge. iPhone email is supposed to try next smtp server if first one fails. But when sending mail many folks are getting "Invalid sender address" error message.
    I had thought the error message was coming from cwmx but now think that it is coming from road runner's smtp server and the iPhone is not going on to the next smtp server, i.e. cwmx.com.
    Maybe this is the problem/bug. I know there are some other bugs in iPhone mail app. For example I have 4 smtp servers showing in "Other SMTP servers" all with the same address and there is no way to delete the duplicates.

    It is usually the ISP being used for the internet connection with the SMTP server restriction.
    Most, if not all ISPs block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network (or that isn't provided by the ISP) unless the SMTP server is authenticated.
    Most ISPs don't provide/support an authenticated SMTP server, and Time Warner is one of them. If TW provided/supported an authenticated SMTP server for RoadRunner accounts, using RR's SMTP server wouldn't be an issue regardless the internet connection.
    I access my MobileMe account and a business POP account with the iPhone's Mail client. Both accounts have an authenticated SMTP server and I've never had a problem sending with either account regardless my internet connection - via numerous wi-fi connections with different ISPs or via EDGE with my first generation iPhone, or via 3G or EDGE with my iPhone 3G.
    These restrictions are in place as a part of an overall effort to prevent spam emanating from the ISP's domain.

    I set up a 10.6 server as mail-server which works (more or less) fine. I can send and receive internal and external Emails from various Macs with mail.app and Windows-Boxes with Thunderbird. However, some clients will be rejected due to wrong Helo strings
    e.g. a Windows-Box using Outlook express
    server postfix/smtpd[73194]: NOQUEUE: reject: RCPT from winbox.intranet.example.com[192.168.2.21]: 504 5.5.2 <winbox>: Helo command rejected: need fully-qualified hostname; from=<[email protected]> to=<[email protected]> proto=ESMTP helo=<winbox>
    similar happens with my router sending status-Emails (replace "winbox" with "router")
    finally my stand-alone-fax-machine uses it's ip-address as helo-string (helo=<192.168.2.10>, similar error)
    For now I've commented out
    smtpd_helo_restrictions = reject_invalid_helo_hostname
    #reject_non_fqdn_helo_hostname
    which makes things work. But that's not the right way, I guess, moreover since this entry is "fixed" by Server-Admin ever now and then.
    Does this problem arise from misconfigured boxes or a misconfigured OSX-Server? Hope the latter since there're no options to change this in my router nor my fax-machine...

The following (or similar) alert is returned toOutlook clients:    The message could not be sent becauseone of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected emailaddress was "[email protected]" is subject "example", account:"mail.example.com" , server "mail.example.com", protocol: SMTP, serverresponse: "504 5.5.2 < hostname > : Helo command rejected: needfully qualified host name", port: 25, secure (SSL): no, server error:504, error number: 0x800CCC79.      Products Affected   Mac OS X Server 10.6        Resolution    In Mac OS X Server v10.6, Postfix is configuredto require a fully qualified hostname from SMTP clients. This settingis configurable and the restriction can be removed, however anymodification of a security-related setting should be evaluated prior tomaking the change.   Once you have evaluated the change, you can use the following steps to implement it:   Note: Before proceeding, back up the /etc/postfix/main.cf file as a precaution.  
    In /etc/postfix/main.cf, locate the smtpd_helo_restrictions setting
    Remove "reject_non_fqdn_helo_hostname" from the list of settings.
    Restart the Mail service.

    Is anyone using the Calendar Server to send external invites?
    We have a Mountain Lion server running DNS, Open Directory, File Sharing and VPN. We have recently stood up the Calendar server and it is working very well. Internal invites work fine and are instantaneous to computer, iPhone, iPad. We have the ports working so that calendar items created outside the network work fine as well. Only problem is we cannot invite anyone with an external e-mail address. Each time we do the Calendar Error Log populates with:

    We have set up an internal e-mail address. I have confined that it works fine. I have tried more than one internal account. I have also verified the settings through the command line by typing "sudo serveradmin settings calendar" The iMIP sending and receiving information is correct. There is no authentication type setting listed in the command line output even though there's a place to choose it in the Enable invitations by email - Edit button on the third screen. No matter what I choose it goes back to "login" and still doesn't work.
    The command line settings mention a port number 62310 as being the MailGatewayPort but opening that port on the network's firewall makes no difference. As I said external set up works fine from Mac/iPhone/iPad and push notification works fine as well.
    Is anyone using this functionality?

    I'm sorry. I forgot to add Mail to the list of services. I AM using mail on that server. Here's the iMIP portion of my settings output from Terminal.

  • Error while Setting Up Oracle Content Server to Send Jobs to Oracle IBR

    I am trying to configure Oracle Content Server to send jobs to IBR.
    I am using following version of UCM:
    11gR1-11.1.1.3.0-idcprod1-100505T121221 (Build:7.3.0.180)
    Both UCM and IBR are using same WAS domain. Installed on Windows server 2008.
    1.I have started both manged servers for UCM and IBR.
    2.Then by browsing IBR console http://vpunvfpctnsz-07:16250/ibr/ , i have changed the
    Incoming Socket Connection Address Security Filter:

    3.Enabled DAMConverter component on IBR
    4.Restarted IBR.
    5.Created an outgoing provider on UCM content server as follows:

    It is showing following status:
    Connection State: This remains "good" when i click on test and after some time chages to "down".
    Connection Error: Unable to communicate with refinery provider IBR; it does not resolve to a valid IBR. Exception type is 'java.lang.Throwable'.
    Did i miss any step?

    Server Port: 16250
    This should be the value of IntradocServerPort for IBR server .
    By default it is 5555 .
    Replace 16250 with 5555 (if you have not changed it ) .
    Save the changes , restart UCM managed server .
    Test to see if the error shows up .

  • How to configure ML Server to send Alert Notifications by mail?

    Is it possible to configure Mountain Lion Server to send out Alert notification by e-mail without enabling full Mail services?
    I don't want to run the Mail service on the Server. I'm quite happy with my ISP's mail service. Besides, I have a dynamic public IP address, hence no rDNS entry (so I couldn't run Mail if I wanted to).  And I don't have the expertise to configure and maintain the Mail service.  But I would like to get the Server to send me any important alert notifications by e-mail.
    I have access to an authenticated SMTP server I can use to relay the outbound alert notification emails. But I don't know how to coerce the alert service into using it.  Is it possible to do so, or does one need the full-blown Mail service to be configured (with both dovecot and postfix running) in order to get Alerts to be e-mailed?

    Thanks for the pointers and suggestions.
    The config for my ISP's SMTP server is correct. I specified the port (:465), and double-checked userid/password. It's the same as used by all our e-mail clients (a half-dozen or so on various Macs, iPhones, iPads, Linux boxes), all of which work fine from my LAN.
    As for DNS, it seems OK.  (I am indebted to you for the excellent series of articles on servers and networking  at http://labs.hoffmanlabs.com/node/1705 )
    The changeip command reports:
         The names match. There is nothing to change.
         dirserv:success = "success"
    However, I should point out that I do not have the DNS service enabled on ML Server.  I already have a local DNS running on my gateway router. (it's an instance of the dnsmasq process that is part of Tomato firmware).  It has local names defined for all the servers and hosts on my LAN, and provides rDNS for them as well.
    However, what I haven't done is enabled the Mail service.  You've (slightly) misunderstood the core of my plan.  My intent is not simply to secure the local mail server against remote access.  I don't want either remote or local users from accessing the mail server. I don't want it listening for POP or IMAP connections from anywhere (on my LAN or remotely). I don't want it receiving inbound mail from anywhere. I don't want it relaying outbound mail for any client on my LAN. All I want the ML Server to be able to do is to send me alerts (by e-mail) when it's in need of attention. Other appliances on my LAN (eg. a NetgearReadyNAS) can send me e-mails when they are unhappy, and I hope I can coerce the ML Server to do the same.
    I know I don't have the expertise to operate and maintain my own mail server, and I'm quite happy with the mail service provided by my existing network service provider. Plus, I'm behind a cable modem with a dynamic IP address, so I'm unable to establish my own rDNS record (which I understand is required to handle inbound mail).
    It looks like the next step is to turn on the Mail service. But I'm sure it's going to be unhappy since there's no MX record set-up. I was hoping there was a way that ML Server could simply send out its own outbound alerts (using my ISP's SMTP relay) without having the incoming part of the mail service active. But perhaps Apple didn't anticipate that sort of configuration.

  • "DataSocket Server has encountered a problem and needs to close" - why?

    I am trying to use DataSocket to publish a Front Panel control. First I start the DataSocket Server and then run a corresponding VI. It goes well once or twice but in the end DataSocket Server crashes producing an error message and offering to send an error report to Microsoft:
    "National Instruments DataSocket Server has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience".
    I wonder if there is any remedy for this. Windows firewall does not seem to be the cause - the crash happens with the firewall disabled.
    Alternatively - is there any way other than using DataSocket to dynamically access data from a running VI?

    Hi Danielis
    This kind of errors usally occurs when there is a file corruption. In either the application of the configuration files. The Datasocket configuration is save in the 'cwdssini.dss' file. this is by default installed in 'C:\Program Files\National Instruments\DataSocket'. Yu could try and remove this and then run the Datasocket Server Manager once to recreate a file with default settings.
    We it is a problem with the Application you could try and install a fresh copy on a other machine and run the VI and server on that machine. Or just run the server on the other machine and connact you Front panel object to that server instead.
    As for other ways of doing this you could look into the Shared Variables that have been introduced in LabVIEW 8

    and I want to set a node manager server for two domains (soa_domain and webcenter_domain).
    Is is possible?
    When I tried to register domain list in node manager domain list using nmEnroll() of wlst, it failed.
    please check following logs in 7101 is admin server port of soa domain and I ran node manager on webcenter domain.

  • Linked Server across the Domain

    Hi
    I have one problem encountering with Linked server connectivity.
    Have one of the server in Domain A and another server into other Domain B. Am able to connect and execute the sql query from Domain A to B. (Creating a linked server in Domain A and trying to access the database which is in Domain B). The problem is that vice
    versa am not able to achieve. Could you just help me in debugging this scenario?
    Also if you could throw me some light how to verify the IP is not blocked in firewall settings will be helpful to debug further.
    Some of the things which I have played around was to verify the remote connectivity was enabled, TCP/IP protocol was enabled, SQL service is up running etc
