10.5 OD server with new 10.6 iCal server

Hi Have an OD 10.5.8 server and have just got a mac mini 10.6.2 server to use strictly as an iCal server.
iCal needs account names obviously so is it as simple as joining the mini to the OD and it picking up the names from there?
Because 10.5 uses the old calendar system where you have to select the server in WGM will this have a negative impact? Shall I just leave it not checked?

I've got it sorted. Here is what I noticed and did as a result.
There is no need to add group "com.apple.access_mail" to every user who wishes to have access to Mail service. Something has gone inherently wrong in the 10.5.8 OD master. I re-installed the 10.5.8 OD a number of times (due to bad media during installation), and re-input the user accounts one-by-one, WITHOUT restoring the previous archived user data. This step is critical, because it seems that archiving will also archive the bad data, and restoring to a new installation of OD master should mean you still have a bad OD master.
Re-install the other servers (10.6.2) from scratch. During the Server Setup Assistant stage, at the "Users and Groups" screen, choose "Connect to another server". Specify the 10.5.8 OD master. In the next screen "Directory Service", choose "Set up an Open Directory master".
You can also set up iCal service during this stage, and because of the above settings, iCal is automatically, correctly configured.
At the end of this configuration, the new server will use both 10.5.8's and the local's OD master for users and groups authentication and contacts. Running iCal web service should now work.
One thing I learned from all these days of trail and error is that we must plan the set up prior to performing any installation. Plan which machine will run which services. Of course the OD master and DNS should be already running correctly.
Once the installation and configuration is done, don't attempt to make any dramatic changes to it (such as demoting the OD master to local, and re-promote it to master). Doing so will definitely cause something to break, no matter it is 10.5.8 or 10.6.2.
Also if something *weird* happens (weird things are those contradicting the Apple docs), always attempt to perform a clean install of the OS. Don't waste time to try to figure out why the errors and problems happened!

Existing iCal calenders syncing with new Google Calendar/iCal account

I have been using iCal now for awhile but only recently started using Google Calendars (once I found out they could both be synced together). Anyway, I understand how to set up the sync, it's very simple. But, I have three calendars for personal, school, and work already in iCal that are in the default group profile that iCal starts with of "calendars".
Anyway, when you create a new account in iCal to set up the syncing, it creates a whole new calendar group for your profile. I had never had an "account" before, so all my three main calendars are separate from this new account. Is there anyway to move or duplicate those calendars into my new calendar group so that I can have one flowing set of synced information between google and iCal without manually retyping all of the information myself? I have tried dragging the calendars down into the other group and all you can do is reorder them within the group they're already in. Even a duplication would work, if that is possible (to duplicate a whole calendar).
Any insight from anyone would be incredibly helpful.

I can't see a Base URL for shared Calendars with new Mobile Me iCal

Hi,
I have a family .Mac membership and my events are being organised by a Windows user (with one of my other accounts) using the Mobile Me Web site. No other problems accept this.
With the previous iCal on my Mac when I shared a Calendar I was always shown the Base URL which anyone with a web browser could access. With the new iCal on Mobile Me is a simple URL still an option? If so how can I find it?
I don't wont subscribers to have to download a file or add the calendar, I just want them to click a URL and view the week's events, Read only, as with the previous iCal on my Mac.
The old URL system does not work for the new iCal on Mobile Me I tried it http://ical.me.com/username/Calendar
Any Tips will be greatly appreciated.

Do you have enabled auto-fill for the location bar?
You can check the pref browser.urlbar.autoFill on the about:config page.
You can also make the protocol visible.
You can set the pref browser.urlbar.trimURLs to false on the about:config page to see the http: protocol.
You can set the pref browser.urlbar.formatting.enabled to false on the about:config page to disable the highlighting of the domain and see the full URL more clearly.

Seems to be the Issue is Syncing emails, now I would recommend you to Remove and Add the Account and try and check if the emails are getting synced automatically.
Hope this is with Single User. If it is with Multiple Users then we need to check the permissions assigned.

Can create new cache with new cache config xml to existing cache server?

Hi,
I have a question regarding coherence cache.
currently there is coherence cache server running with its own cache config file.
Can I create another cache with new cache config file?
If so, do I need add my own cache config file and pof file to the server?
so during cache server start up, it can load cache config and pof config file?

Yes, when you want to load your own cache configuration you can use something like

java -Xms512m -Xmx512m -Dtangosol.coherence.cacheconfig=my-cache-config.xml com.tangosol.net.DefaultCacheServerby using the system parameter tangosol.coherence.cacheconfig you can add your own cache configuration. Note that
the POF configuration is loaded when you are referring to it in your cache configuration.

Restore on new server with new DB_NAME/SID?

My goal is to restore database with the RMAN backup on a server that has no connectivity to the production database (I don’t want to use duplicate command).
I restore a database from RMAN using a same DB_NAME/SID and everything was ok.
-     restore spfile
-     restore controlfile
-     restore database
-     recover database
-     open with reset logs
Now I want to restore database but with different DB_NAME/SID (My production database is PROD and I want to restore this PROD RMAN backup on new server and this new database I want to be called DEV).
How to restore database with new DB_NAME/SID?

Issues with using the output redirection character with newer NXOS versions?

Has anyone seen any issues with using the output redirection character with newer NXOS versions?
Am receiving "Error 0x40870004 while copying."
Simply copying a file from bootflash to tftp is ok.
This occurs for both 3CDaemon and Tftpd32 softwares.
Have tried it on multiple switches - same issue.
Any known bugs?

Please check with new version of TFTPD 32 server. The error may be due to older version of TFPT server, the new version available solved this error. Files are getting uploaded with no issues.
1. Download tftpd32b.zip from:
http://tftpd32.jounin.net/tftpd32_download.html
2. Copy the tftpd32b.zip file into an empty directory and extract it.
3. Copy the file you want to transver into the directory containing tftpd32.exe.
4. Run tftpd32.exe from that directory. The "Base Directory" field should show the path to the directory containing the file you want to transfer.
At this point, the tftpserver is ready to begin serving files. As devices request files, the main tftpd32 window will log the requests.

Xfdf and pdf works in Adobe Reader 6, but not with new versions 7, 8, X

I have a xfdf file which is created by querying a SQL data base and contains data for a pdf form; it works with Adobe Reader 6, but does not work with new versions of Adobe Readers (7, 8, 9 and X).
It is an intranet site running IIS 6.0 in Windows Server 2003 Web Edition SP2 with Adobe 6 installed and client systems include XPSP2, XPSP3, Vista, Windows 7 with different versions of IE, Firefox.
With new versions of Adobe Reader, click on the hyperlink launched the pdf form in a browser window without data; below is the link:

I have installed new versions of Adobe Reader in the Web server (to match what the clients are using), but results are the same – blank pdf.
I uninstalled the new versions and installed version 6 and the pdf and xfdf worked happily together, but we need new versions of Adobe Reader in the client computers.
Thanks for helps and suggestions – I have read articles about using iTextSharp to create pdf documents from .NET apps, but that would be my last choice.

Adobe Reader 9 can't save the old FDA forms. FDA must update their forms.

Can we add new condition in old PO with new pricing schema

We have created new pricing schema for addition of new condition type at header level on
25/11/2010 in client server but the problem is for old purchase order client want new condition
on header condition tab.It is obvious that in old po on analysis tab it shows old pricing schema.
Is there any solution to get new condition in old Purchase order????

Let me know the basic Price Condition if its PB00 or PBXX.
Let me know how you have called the pricing schema. if you had attached it with document type and you have changed the document type, you will be required to create new PO with new doc type.
If you have taken Vendor Schema group as a criteria, then you will be required to end the validity of old pricing conditions in condition table and need to activate new conditions on this date.
Check for other basic keys like Purchasing Organization as well.
Let me know if you have any existing Source List or QA for the vendor too.

Graphite Airport with new MacBooks and MacBook Pros

We have a mobile lab that is using some old dual USB iBooks with a graphite airport base station. The iBooks are connecting to the base station without a problem and getting on the internet. In the next room over, a teacher with a MacBook is trying to get online with the same base station. The MacBook can see the Airport, but it will not receive an IP via DHCP. I've taken my own MacBook Pro over to the base station as well and the airport icon blinks on and off for my own machine.
Is this a compatibility issue with the Intel based laptops with airport extreme trying to connect to an old graphite base station?

If you believe the problem might be in the network settings, I am happy to let you compare yours to my working ones.
When the MacBook is connected to the Graphite base station's network:

In AirPort Admin Utility, version 4.2:
(Select base station) > Configure > Network
. Distribute IP Addresses (checked)
. AirPort client computers: Share a single IP address (using DHCP and NAT) (selected)
. (everything else unselected)
Please note that the AirPort Utility that comes with new MacBooks cannot configure a Graphite base station.
I can't think of anything else that would be relevant to whether the base station supplies an IP address to a wirelessly connected MacBook, but you are welcome to ask about other settings.
If the problem with the MacBook Pro is in the network settings and not a result of interference, the only thing I can think of is a possible DHCP conflict. Please make sure "Enable AirPort to Ethernet bridging" is turned off in AirPort Admin Utility.

Why is it the first think everyone wants to do in JSP is write a chat application?
Not really an easy way to do this, as HTTP is a "pull" model. You send a request, the server sends a response. The server can't send anything unless you ask for it. That kindof puts a damper on things like instant messaging.
A couple of workarounds
1 - refresh the page every once in a while to check for new messages. An easy solution but nowhere near optimal.
2 - check out pushlets www.pushlets.com

Reinstall MI Client with new device ID

Hi guys,
In MI 7.0 I removed a device ID and uninstalled the client.
After reinstallation, I created same user locally and after first sync I received a new device ID.
Then I assigned the xAPPL to the device ID and run new sync.
After sucessfully instalation the old device ID is assigned back to the device.
Therefore I cannot perform any sync since the old device ID has been removed from the server.
Any tips?

As feedback I found the cause of the problem. Since I'm installing the pilot client in a Windows Vista laptop, program files were installed in:
C:/Program Files/SAP Mobile Infrastructure
I don't know why, when you start the application, these files are
transfered to:
C:\Users\<my user>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\SAP Mobile Infrastructure
All time I was uninstalling the MI client, only the C:\Program Files\SAP Mobile Infrastructure were being deleted, but not the other route.
After uninstalling the application I manually deleted the other route.
With new installation, the aplication received a new device ID and it was not assigned automatically to the old one.
