10.6.3 and Message background colour problem

The 10.6.3 update claims to solve the problem whereby some messages display with incorrect backgrounds, quote:
"Mail fixes and improvements provided for:
an issue that causes background message colors to display incorrectly in Mail."
I have had this problem, so after updating to 10.6.3 I checked the messages and no change, still brown background. (Note messages are not, and never were Junk, which is not enabled).
First thing I tried was rebuilding the mailboxes, without success.
What fixed it was:
1. Enabled Junk filtering
2. Selected affected messages
3. Marked these as "junk"
4. Marked them as "not junk"
5. Disabled Junk filtering
I had tried these exact steps pre 10.6.3, so 10.6.3 has changed something related to this problem.

Since we can't test in a new user, try starting up Safe Mode (It will take more time to startup in Safe Mode because it runs a directory check.)
If yourEntourage functions correctly that way, go to System Preferences >> Accounts >> Login Items, and remove them. Boot normally and test. If not go to ~(yourHome)/Library/Contextual Menu Items and move whatever is there to the desktop. Then do the same with /Library/Contextual Menu Items. Lastly, try moving ~(yourHome)/Library/Fonts to your desktop and restarting.
Log out/in or restart, if that sorts it start putting items back one at a time until you find the culprit.
I'd say try re-installing but try checking on support first.

Preview background colour problem

This is an annoying problem I can't seem to remedy. Even though the background colour is set to white, it shows up as a murky brown colour when printed. I have attempted the usual fixes such as deleting the preference file but nothing seems to work. Not serious I know, but none the less annoying. Any help would be appreciated.

I take it you are using Panther, and so your Preview is version 2.1.
In Preview, open its preferences (Command + , (comma))
Select the General tab where at the bottom is a box with "Window background color" next to it.
Click on the box which will open the colour selector, and choosing the Palette (centre one) will give you the opportunity to select white. I hope that fixes it.

Browser background colour and page background colour

On one entry page of my blog, the browser background colour is over-riding the page background gradient colours. I've tried remaking the entry page by duplicating another entry page, but this still happens on just this one page.
Hoping someone will be able to work out why...?

How do I change the message background colour in mail,(2013)?

I'd like to be able to do this.
I send a lot of photos,(for my biz as an art photographer), and they would present FAR better on aa grey or black background than on the harsh and glaring white background.
I haven't figured out how to create a coloured background template for the Stationary plug, or that might be an option.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciate!

You can't do that, but you can change the visual properties of the display by selecting Apple menu > System Preferences > Displays > Color > Calibrate...

CSS background colour problem

Hi
I know that I am overlooking something incredibly simple,
however I am really new to Dreamweaver and can't seem to figure out
where I'm going wrong.
I basically want to use CSS to make the background of my page
grey. The rule I have is quite simply:

However when I apply it to the page, all that appears is a
row of grey at the very top and that's it. No matter what I try I
just can't seem to make it cover the entire background.
If anyone could help me out, that would be great.

Lov and Message Styled Text Problem in OAF R12

Hi,
I am trying to develop a UI page for capturing country information in OAF R12.
I am facing an issue as described below:
I am choosing the Country Name for a Lov and the Country Code should get populated automatically into the field as below
Country Name Country Code Status Flag
India (Lov) IN (populated from Lov) Active (msg choice)
Add New Row --- Button Apply -- Button
Now country Name : Message Lov
Country Code : Message styled Text
Now when I click on the Add New Row button, the value in the Country code field gets
disappeared.If I click on Apply button, value does not get saved to the db.
But if I make Country Code as : Message Text Input, then the value remains, whether I click on the Add New Row or the Apply button and value gets saved to db.
Is there a workaround for this. Also I am working on OAF R12. Does this kind of thing occur even in OAF 11.5.10 ?

Hi,
You have to take care of these things...
1. Return the value from LOV to a form value on a page. Now attach a view instance and view attribute to this form value say VO1 and Attr1 respectively.
2. Now attach the same VO instance and vo attribute to the Messagestyletext/messagetextinput u are using for the CODE.
This will surely retain the values and will save to DB too.

How to change background colour?

I have an image with a statue and different background colours. I want to change the complete background colour around the statue in one colour for example white. I tried several times but it doesnt work. Do you have a suggestion?

Hi Dom,
You've asked about a technique that many beginner Photoshop users want to learn. The challenge is that this technique requires learning a few tools and skills before you start. I would recommend the following:
1. Learn about how to make selections. Here is an image with the blue background selected. Here's a video about making basic selections.
2. Learn about layers and masks and how they work. Below is the same image with the blue background hidden. This video teaches the basics about the Layers panel.
3. Create a new background layer to replace the old one. Below is the image with a new solid white background on the layer below the original statue layer.
Once you've learned about selections and layers, try following the technique Russell Brown uses in the video below to create a simple selection of the current background and hide it by using a layer mask. Once the old background color is hidden by the layer mask, the layer beneath is revealed and it replaces the old background.

Transparent spry menu that has a background color on sub menus and a few other problems(Please Help)

Hi im a noob at dream weaver and i've been trying to create a menu and i have been having problems with this menu bar i don't know what to upload and i have made a topic about this before but i only got one reply and so i am trying to make my menu bar transparent and then the sub menu's colored with the color code #1A1A1A and the menu bars that have been color background are only the sub sub menu bars if you know what i mean and also my other problem is the spacing i have between each option is really uneven is there a way to make them evenly sperated apart from each other rather than just the size of a "box" that the text is in. Since upgrading to iOS7 some text messages are not being sent on my iPhone 5, iMessage on my Ipads and MacBook doesn't have my phone number registered and my reminder colour on my Iphone keeps changing ... among other things. Any suggestions to fix these faults?

Make sure People Sending you via iMessage are sending their messages on your PHONE number not on your EMAIL addresses . My sister had the same problem, thats how i managed to solve it!

A problem changing applet's background colour

Hi there,
I'm hoping somebody can help me with what I believe to be a problem I have in changing the background colour of an applet, the source code of which is posted below. If super.paint(g); is commented out, the background of the applet will be changed to whatever colour is specified, however if it is not the background will remain grey. As I understand though, super.paint(g); should be part of the program. What am I doing wrong? Should super.paint(g); in this example be part of the program?
Before posting this I searched the forums and looked at some of the Q's & A's about changing an applet's background colour but am non the wiser.

You could try defining

}That's the only difference I see between your code and my applet code. If that isn't it, you could try getContentPane().setBackground(...) but I don't know how that could make much difference (I would think that the content pane is transparent...)
Another possibility is that, if you're using Swing, you probably shouldn't be overriding paint() and should stick to the paintComponent() method or whatever is appropriate.

Polar plot scale labels and background colour

Dear Labview Forum,
I am trying to create a polar plot. However when I put the polar
plot indicator on my front panel and wire up some data and parameter
control boxes, the scale labels are missing. See polar plot
basic.VI. Are the scale labels there or are they the same colour
(black) as the background and hence not visible?
When you compare this to the polar plot demo, the background is white and the scale labels are present.
How can I control the polar plot background colour parameter?
How can I control the scale label colour and visibility?

when swiping down the notification and the control center,it doesn't take the background colour as shown in the ios 7 videos, instead it's plain white and black-i am using an iphone 4,anybody else with the same issue on their iphone 4 or higher?

Hi - I have an iPhone 4 as well.
The problem is that the iPhone 4 only gets a sample of what is shown in the ios 7 videos. The iPhone 5, 5s and 5c can run those graphics, however the iPhone 4 can not. To get a "demo" of what it looks like, go to Settings>General>Accessibility>Increase Contrast and turn that toggle off. This will give your phone a slight transparency effect for notif and command center, however it is nowhere near what was shown in the vids.

i m nt sure , but it seems u hv to use the portal themes ..
so basically to change the page header element background you have to do the following:
1. Export your portal theme, so that you get a .zip file.
2. Open the .zip file with a ZIP Unpacker and change the appropriate picture inside with the one you want to have.
3. Re-pack the zip as it was
4. Upload it back to the portal.
This action would permanently change the background color of your page header UI element for this theme.

My problem is that after printing the first photo or picture, when I come to print a second, both the Colour Management and Epson Colour Controls are greyed out and showing No Colour Management

I have recently purchased a Mac computer (updated to Maverick) to go with my Epson Stylus Photo RX500 printer which has given excellent service with my old Windows computer. However, when trying to print pictures or photos via Photoshop Elements 11, the best results I can get are using the Colour Management and Epson Colour controls in the printing options box.
My problem is that after printing the first photo or picture, when I come to print a second, both the Colour Management and Epson Colour Controls are greyed out and showing No Colour Management, The only way I can reset the controls is to shut down the printer and computer and restart.
Could there may be a setting somewhere that I need to adjust please? I have been in touch with Epson and they say that the Epson Colour controls are part of the Photoshop Elements software but a post on the Adobe forum brought no results and I am unable to contact Adobe.

Hello Garry. Thanks for the reply. I guess I should have used a different title from "How do I post a question?" That should come after trying to resolved the colour settings first. However, to answer your question, after experimenting with all the different settings in Photoshop Elements and Epson software, I now start with PSE11 Colour settings then click "no colour management" then after clicking Print, I choose "More Options/Colour Management/Colour Handling/Printer Manages Colour" then I choose "Page Setup/Layout/Colour Matching" which then shows Epson Colour Controls but I also choose "Layout/Colour Management" which then shows "Colour Controls/Mode" I then of course choose an Epson printer profile depending on the paper I am using. I get good results but as I said, the Colour Matching and Colour Controls are then greyed out. Hope that makes sense.
