10.6.4 Update - White Spots On The Menu Bar

I updated to 10.6.4 and immediately after rebooting I noticed white spots in the upper right and left hand corners of the menu bar at the top of the screen. They were not there before the update. The spots are not present on the screen when shutting down or booting up. They are only present on the menu bar. Anybody else having this issue? I took a screen shot, but don't see an obvious way to attach to this post.

Wallpaper? Wallpaper? There ain't no stinkin wallpaper on a Mac running OS X. It uses desktop pictures! That's a windoze-centric term since they don't know how to make desktops, only walls that most can't break through.

You are confusing two different versions of the iMovie app. You have downloaded an update to the boxed version that Apple sold in the past. Yoi cannot update the version that Apple now sells in the Mac App Store with that update.

  • White Square in the menu bar (Not a hardware issue)

    Hi there,
I have a Macbook Pro 13" with Retina display (late 2012), and I recently updated Mac OS to Yosemite.
After updating, I have noticed that there is a white square in my menu bar and I do not know how to fix it, I can tell that it isn't a dead pixel as I can zoom into it and it will not remain in the same place, it will zoom in normally as if it is 'stuck' on the screen, I will add some screenshots to explain my issue:
As you can see here, there is a white square in the menu bar near the centre of the screen at the top.
When I zoom in, it moves to suit, and if I place my cursor over the white square, then it disappears as if it is a layer below the cursor, below shows how it doesn't stay in the top of the screen when I zoom in:

Maybe NSPopover (Safari's 'Show downloads' uses one, for example)?

  • WHY is the old updater still appearing in the menu bar???

    ^THIS.
I'm still astounded that the old updater icon still appears in the menu bar, and that it's also creating a mess up there. It's redundant -- the cloud icon should be all we need for update notifications.
When are the programmers going to eradicate this code once and for all? I never even installed CS6 on this machine so clearly the code is lingering in the CC 2014 release.

  • My ipod touch 4g, has a white spot on the screen when you turn it on, what is that and how do I fix it?

When you turn the ipod on, there is a noticeable white spot on the screen/display. Once all the apps come on you can't see it, but when it starts up you can.

From you descriptionis is hard to tell if it a atain on the outside of the screen or just what.  Have you tried cleaning the screeen as said in the users guide:
    Cleaning iPod touch
Clean iPod touch immediately if it comes in contact with any contaminants that may cause stains,
such as ink, dyes, makeup, dirt, food, oils, or lotions. To clean iPod touch, disconnect all cables and
turn off iPod touch (press and hold the On/Off button, then slide the onscreen slider). Then use a
soft, slightly damp, lint-free cloth. Avoid getting moisture in openings. Don’t use window cleaners,
household cleaners, compressed air, aerosol sprays, solvents, alcohol, ammonia, or abrasives to
clean iPod touch. Rubbing the screen with an abrasive material may scratch the glass.

I would like to inquire about how I could have my iPad 2 repaired or replaced. I bought it With a credit card via apple store website last June 19 of this year. At first, I already noticed a little white spot in the middle of the screen visible when the display on screen is dark. I thought this was okay. Now, My problem with it is that, it now has green discolorations at the center whenever the screen display is black or dark I.e. When a website's color is black or dark or whenever I go to the search interface.
    I am from the Philippines.
Please attend to this inquiry as promptly as possible. I'm sorry I have to send it here since I cannot see any email or inquiry page on the apple website. I also cannot reach the toll free number on my mobile phone.
    Thank you very much.

  • Several white spots in the middle of the display, please help!

    Hello!
I've already searched through the discussions and found some people with similiar display issues. But I just had to post this question because I'm panicing.
I turned on my MacBook Pro 1.83 (It's from July '06) today just to notice a white spot at the right center of the display. At first I thought it was just some smear from a fingertipp, but it wouldn't go away. So I changed my wallpaper from the colourful one I have to a solid light grey default wallpaper.
Then I noticed that I have 6 ! spots all forming a circle in the middle of the screen.
I've been treating my MacBook Pro like a baby and mostly at home. Right now I'm using it exclusively at home because it's now semester break for my University. So it wasn't moved. Just sitting on my desk.
Does anybody know if Apple will repair this? I'm still in the first year, obviously and have bought the Care Protection Plan. So I have 3 years.
Some of the people here and on the net seem to have theirs repaired under warranty. But with display, you never know what they'll say.
    Any help and answers appreciated!
    Greetings from Germany.
MacBook White 1,83 Ghz   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   Early model from July '06

I have now spoken to a local store which does repairs for Apple here.
(Funny thing: in Germany you can't send the Notebooks back to Apple for repairs anymore. You have to go to a Service Provider, which could be a problem outside of big cities.)
He's says it's a known problem which will be covered by the warranty:
so if this happen to any of you, don't panic like me: Apple will repair it.
Now I hope my replacement screen won't have any pixel failures.

  • Bright white spots on the screen?

Hey guys, my iPhone has developed these two bright white spots on the screen. I don't think it's a hardware problem because they are not there for every application. But I have tried restarting it, completely resetting it, etc with no success. The problem is I bought in July 2007 so my warranty is up. Am I screwed?

You can also look at LCD replacement from outside repair companies like iResQ.com. If you're not sure what's going on with the spots, you can also get a diagnosis within 24 hours from them before you decide to repair or resell. Replacement can be had for $130, back to you the day after receiving your order. Also, their techs are Apple-certified. Check it out if you're still having problems:

  • White spots on the screen

Yesterday, I opened my Mac for the first time in a while and it was REALLY dusty so I sprayed it down with some canned air. I also replaced the second internal drive. Once I got the computer back up and running, I noticed there were little white spots on the desktop. Sometimes they are gray or red as well. The spots stay there until you move a window in front of them or a selection box around them. They sometimes appear in other programs, most notably DVD Player. Otherwise the computer is running fine. I'm worried that I sprayed dust into something or knocked something loose. Where should I start looking for problems? Apple's Hardware Test showed no hardware problems. Here's a screen grab of the issue:

    Thanks,
    Renny

If anybody's reading this in the future, DP's advice definitely worked. I hadn't removed the video card originally. When I did, I noticed that it had so much dust in it that the fan wasn't able to operate. Embarrassing. Anyways, I cleaned it out and now the computer's running smoothly. A lot quieter too!

  • Photoshop CS5 update doesn't fix artifact problem in the menu bar !

    Hi to all,
I've installed the new update (december 7) recommended by Adobe, but that doesn't fix the Artifact problems in the menu bar !!!
More, with my Windows 7 Pro (French language), Photoshop CS5 video pilot create artifacts in the menu bar in several situations.
With Windows classic Theme chosen, theme management disabled:
    1. Opening a photo and applying a filter (especially Noise Reduction).
    2. Opening a photo and changing some preferences.
    3. Opening a photo with Windows 7 File Explorer working cause the pilot to crash with a black screen, ans followed by a message saying that Win 7 has recovered the video pilot.
To suppress most of the problems, I need to Activate "Themes" and choose an Aero theme or the Basic Theme.
I also need to activate some items that slow the PC !
    Very strange !
Could someone help, me please ?
    Have a Nice Day.
    Thierry

Yes, I've an Asus ENGT220/G/DI/1GD3, tried Windows default pilot, 2009 Asus pilot "nv19045_Win7Vista64.zip", and 2010 latest version "nv25919_Win7Vista64.zip", no change !
More, I've exchanged the video car by a "monster" ENGTX465 with it's driver, NO CHANGE !
    So what to do ?!
    Help, please !

Firefox 4 Menu Bar - When I hover over or select a menu bar item, the menu bar sub-menu becomes transparent and unreadable. Is this a known issue that can be corrected with an update or is it functionality that is not designed to work with this version?

If this happens on monitor 2 of 2, this problem has been solved here:
    http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/794823#answer-157988
Go to "Firefox"--> "Options" --> "Advanced"
Then un-check "Use hardware acceleration when available"
While not verified, I believe this problem is due to an SLI configuration where the focus is on monitor 1. (I.e acceleration is available, but only on monitor 1.)

  • Clock not updated  on the menue bar

The time stamp on the Mac OS X Menu bar is not updated: The clock is "broken".  When moving the cursor over the menu bar form left to right, the cursor changes to a spinning wheel starting at the bluetooth icon.  It seems the rest of the system works normal. All applications represented by an icon on the menu bar cannot be reached (system busy)

    I don't see any problem.
    Do Safari > Empty Cache.

  • How do I remove the Adobe updater icon from the menu bar?

How can I remove the Adobe Updater icon from the menu bar? It's pixelated and looks broken. Any help is appreciated.
I found this thread, but it doesn't work. When I click on the Updater icon, then click "Open updater," it opens the Creative Cloud instead. I haven't found a way to remove the updater icon from within Creative cloud.
Remove Adobe Updater from OS X menu bar?
    ^^ Doesn't work
Anyone know how to remove it?
    Thanks!

Found it, thanks to later posts in that thread I mentioned in the OP. Here is what they suggest (you have to use Photoshop):
    1. In Photoshop, go to Help >Updates:
    2. Click "Preferences" at the bottom right.
    3. Uncheck the box labeled "Notify me of new updates on the menu bar." Then click "Ok."
    Hope that helps anyone!
