10.6.8 and burning a cd bug
Well, still working to rule out any other issues. But I have noticed a bug with 10.6.8 that after burning a cd from finder, the screen refreshes on the desktop to include the new cd, but still shows the old burn folder also..

well, verified on TWO MBP's now. Burning DVD's from finder causes finder crash...

Do you mean you can't see the instructions on what to do if there is no UpperFilters entry?
If so, here's the relevant instructions for that step:
On the right side of the Registry Editor window, right-click the UpperFilters entry and choose Modify from the shortcut menu.
Right-click the empty white space within the right-hand portion of the Registry Editor window. From the shortcut menu, choose New > Multi-String Value.
Name this new value "UpperFilters" (without the quotes). Then, right-click the newly created UpperFilters entry and choose Modify from the shortcut menu. -

when i was having trouble with my optical drive(before Dell sent me a new one) the dell tech support representative had me delete some reg. files to try to fix the problem. I was told this would not affect the new drive when i install it or any of my existing programs. here is what he had me do....

How to open and burn some QuickTime videos?
A friend uploaded some Quicktime videos for me and I've tried to save them to my desktop by using file>save as. But then, the desktop icon won't open, and I haven't a clue as to how to burn them even if I could play them:-(
TIA!!If you use a DVD and burn it all you will be doing is copying the movie file. You will not be able to play it on your DVD player (if that's what you want to do). To recode the movie to play on a player or through DVD Player on your Mac you need a program like Toast Titanium. Other than that you can insert a blank DVD into the optical drive and burn a copy of the movie.

I recently upgraded to iOS 7.0.3 and now my iPhone 4S will only sync purchased music to my phone from iTunes. Help! I have TONS of music that I have bought and burned to my computer, but cannot listen to it on my iPhone. This seems ridiculous!

In Premiere Elements 13/13.1, your export choices are in the Publish+Share section of the project. There are several choices and sub-choices.
Example: Publish+Share/Computer/and then a list of choices under that, such as, MPEG, AVI, AVCHD, XAVC-S, Windows Media, QuickTime, Image, Audio.
And each has Presets which define the export settings. Adobe offers default settings which are usually optimized ones. But, it also allows you to customize the preset selected. You do that by clicking on the Advanced Button of the selected preset and customizing the settings under the Video Tab, Audio Tab, and, if applicable, Multiplexer Tab.
From what you wrote, I thought that you might be asking about exporting a video with a video codec = Photo JPEG.
To do that you would to to
Publish+Share
Computer
QuickTime
with Presets = either the one for 4:3 of 16:9 as appropriate for your project,
and then clicking on the Advanced Button, and then the Video Tab under the Advanced Button.
Then selecting Photo JPEG for the video codec field.
Tip: The QuickTime choice is not seen unless you scroll down the list of Computer choices. Use the thin scroll bar to the right of the Computer choices.
Please explore Premiere Elements 13/13.1's Publish+Share/Disc/DVD with standard or widescreen preset for your creation of the DVD-VIDEO on DVD disc.
The Premiere Elements timeline destined for this choice could consistent of supported photos and or videos.

Everytime I connect my iPod Touch (4th Gen) to my laptop, running Win 7 (64 bit) I get the message "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes" I have reinstalled iTunes several times and it has not fixed the issue. I am running ver 10.2.2.12 of iTunes. I HAVE NOT installed any other burning software to my laptop either. I haven't tried uninstalling iTunes and then re-installing it yet. Would that perhaps fix the problem? I've read that many users have had issues with the new version of the software and I was wondering if that might be causing my issue. I'd like to point out that iTunes seems to work after getting rid of the message, but I haven't tried to burn any CDs or put music from a CD to my laptop. Any ideas on how to get rid of the annoying message?
I also am having trouble hooking up with our other computers using Homegroup. I noticed quite a lot of people are having the same issue and hopefully they come up with a fix for that soon.

If you're still getting the error message (especially when you plug in the Touch), I'd check for a device filter confusion on the PC. (They can affect the connection of USB devices to a PC, as well as burning and importing CDs.) For that one, see:

The entire DVD containing Quick Time movies (Final CutExpress project) and slideshow was done in iPhoto. The Final Cut project was rendered prior to export to QT, the slideshow was sent to iDVD withoutrendering. The slideshow with most of the pictures from my still camera incombination with stills from movie clips and some downloaded from the Internet.After burning, the movie playback is perfect but the slideshow is not. The slideshow containing 3 differentkinds of pictures; those from my still camera looks OK; the stills from themovie clips and from the Internet are not. I don’t have much knowledge in this game, but I think NTSCwith frame size 720x480, and the downloaded picture Item Property shows most ofthem are between 400 to 500 x 300 to 600, may be both of them are not suitablefor TV screen while the stills from my still camera looks OK because they are2048x1536. I am trying to burn a CD from some of the tunes in my library. I successfully burned 3 CDs from my playlist. However, I am trying to finish up and burn the rest of my playlist, but when I insert a blank CD it says it's canceling the burn and says it failed, error message (-3). Can anyone help? I have already tried to restart my computer but to no avail.

I had completed my iDVD project, a Wedding Slideshow with pictures and music, and burned it on a disc. It worked great! Then someone messed with the original project on my computer and clicked around and put a red frame around the opening screen that has the Wedding theme with music. Now when I burn the project to make more DVDs, it burns but no longer has the opening frame. It immediately opens to the iMovie slideshow. How can I fix so I can burn the entire project with opening frames?
As Bengt suggested make a disk image of the successfully burned DVD using Disk Utility. Then you can burn copies any time you need one.
In the future once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it. If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
You can then burn it to disk with Disk Utility at the slowest speed available to assure the best burn quality. Always use top quality media: Verbatium, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

The slower the speed, the fewer burn errors (or, in other words, you'll burn fewer "coasters"). I've always tried to burn at a slower speed, i.e. 2x - 4x. I'd rather wait a few minutes more and I've never had any burn errors.
